Sadly, Eccelston (9th Doctor) has refused to appear in the 50th. Unless he lied like Tennant did.

I hope you're right, Jeff. I remember Tennant saying he wasn't going to be in the 50th. Same with Billie Piper and boom they're in. We shall see.

I also have a couple theories as to who Hurt is playing in the special. There's a few going around and seem to hold a lot of water. It also sucks that Smith is leaving at the Christmas special. Mainly because he was the first doctor I watched from beginning to end.

It also sucks that the rumor about the lost episodes was found to be false. At least the animation studio is going to animate some lost episodes. This year, I believe we're getting The Tenth Planet, Ice Warriors and The Moonbase. The latter being two 2nd Doctor serials I really want to see.

I've got a couple of theories about who Hurt is playing as well, dunno if any of yours are the same. They seem to make sense to me, but who knows?

It's nice that they're at least trying to replace the lost episodes in some way (hopefully they'll still be found some day). At least for the most part it's not whole serials they're trying to fix (although there are a couple of them). If I'm not mistaken, at least the audio still exists for most if not all of the missing eps, just not the video (that's how they've managed to patch together earlier releases of episodes like The Tenth Planet, using the audio along with whatever video or pictures still remained...and thankfully one of Tenth Planet's surviving pieces of video is the first regeneration sequence).

My theory is that Hurt is either The Other (The Doctor before he became The Doctor). Or he is the 8th gone crazy. And yeah. Every ep has the audio. So, all they could do now is animate. Which could be hard. But, the team they got for Tenth Planet and Ice Warriors seem awesome. The fixed Tenth Planet is going to be part of a Regenerations box set coming soon.

My theory is that Hurt is either a younger First Doctor, whatever he did causing him to run away and become The Doctor in the first place, or he's what eventually becomes the Valeyard.

He was already the Doctor before he ran away. They choose their titles in service I think.

That may be true, but why is it that the Doctor's real name is such a big deal? That's why I think he could be a younger First Doctor. It was just a title then, but now it's who he is. I mean, we know the actual names of some other Time Lords (like Rassilon, Omega, Borusa, a few random others)

Last night they showed the 6th Doctor Revisited on BBC America followed by Vengeance on Varos. That was a really good serial. I'll probably get that for my 6th Doctor representative. Next month we're getting Remembrance of the Daleks for the 7th Doctor. In August, we're obviously getting the tv movie. =)

Should be an interesting summer. But, I wonder what two parters they'll show in September for the 9th and in October for the 10th.

All of them were really good. Back on the topic of Hurt, I can't wait to see what we're going to see in the 50th. Hints are under lock and key.

There were probably better episodes they could have used for Third and Fifth than those (I mean, you've got a freshly regenerated and very pissed off Third and then probably the biggest downer in Fifth's era if not the whole original series). Otherwise not a bad lineup.

Seems kind of weird that they wind up showing what was probably the episode responsible for derailing the Sixth Doctor's era, though.
