Good day, ladies and gents, and welcome to the first round of the ASB Mega Pokemon Grand Tournament! Today, two scrappy trainers will be squaring off to determine which of them will advance to the next round. To make things even juicier, Ayeun and nepence happen to be rivals who would like nothing more than to cast the other in concrete and throw 'em in a lake, so I'm sure this is going to be a heated and exciting match. The trainers release, sending out a skirt-wearing carnivorous plant and a big purple dinosaur. Let's begin!

MAWILE -24 HP -6 EP SUB: 10 HP		Zephyr lets out a roar as he beats his wings hard and sends a blast of brown energy sailing toward his opponent. Mawile tries to pull together some kind of defence, but Aerodactyl, being one of the fastest Pokemon around, period, scores a hit well before she can defend herself. The attack knocks Mawile into the stadium wall. Snapping that jaw of hers irritably, Mawile pulls herself up and claps her hands once. Suddenly, a Rhydon plushie materializes in front of her. Poor Zephyr is beguiled by the stuffed toy and thinks it's actually his opponent. Not sure I see the resemblance, but whatevs.		ZEPHYR -7 EP

MAWILE -8 EP SUB: BROKEN!		Mawile prances across the battlefield with her plant-like appendage swinging wildly. It smashes into Zephyr, dealing decent damage. Smarting from that super effective strike, the Aerodactyl grabs onto Mawile in his jowls and gives her a toss. Fortunately for her, she lands right on top of her Substitute, which cushions the impact. Unfortunately, she ends up smushing the Substitute. It breaks. G'bye, Rhydon plushie. RIP. What are the effects of "Partially Frozen"? And could Zephyr use Heat Wave to hit both his wing and Mawile?

Basically, partial Frz limits the mobility of the affected appendage (in this case, Zephyr's left wing), so flying and certain moves that require use of the wing won't work. And yes, I could see Heat Wave working as you describe.

Just to nitpick a bit here... But normally when something like this happens, you go back, change the results of the first rounds, and continue, not restart the whole thing...

Actually, I don't think that's true. The only other incident I can remember where a move was found to be banned a couple rounds after its use was during my Gym match with Mew a few years ago. Darkly was reffing and we had to redo the match-up.

Personally, I think it makes more sense to start over. Since Mawile's HP is drastically different without having taken those two Counters, it stands to reason that both of you might want to adjust your game plans and issue drastically different commands, so I'm giving you that opportunity. Alternatively, if you're fine with the second round commands you issued last time, you get the opportunity to stick with them as well.

Fortunately, he's able to continue Biding as Mawile comes slamming into him head-first. He takes the attack and then his eyes go wide. It's time! He opens his mouth and releases an incredible rocket of energy that propels Mawile halfway across the arena—halfway, not the full way, because her Steel typing filters out a large chunk of the damage. First, you're gonna combo out on the first round where she doesn't use Sucker Punch or Protect.

Then, if she's under the effects of Magnet Rise, Heat Wave+Heat Wave + Heat Wave. Otherwise Earth Power + Earth Power + Earth Power.

Finally, the first time she tries to combo with protect and a damaging move before you pull off your combo, take off a move from the combo and protect for that round.

I'm sorry for the messy subs, but I'm kinda in a corner here. (And double checked every frigging move I'm using... God freaking damn this match)

And there is a solid chance I'll concede after seeing Ay's move, even though I think I caught everything.

With that, Mawile points one of her plant appendages at Zephyr and unleashes a blinding flash. When the light clears, Zephyr is lying prostrate on the ground. And that's the battle.
