New Gym Leader Tower is up. Cleaned it up a bunch.

Gym Leaders, PM me when you want to post your revamped Gyms in that Tower. Otherwise I'll leave it locked so we don't have 50 billion posts in that tower unnecessarily.

Current links link back to the old tower and will change upon you letting me know when its ready for an update. Once all 6 are updated, I'll Archive the old tower.

Brainstorming the idea for an advertisement for my Japanese course. I have tried to make quick decisions in my battles to have more time.

So first off, awesome work by Greyfox on creating the Mega Evolution Tower!

However, I don't agree with some of the proposed changes to benefits of some of the Pokemon. In particular, I'm looking at Sceptile. While he gets an added type (Dragon), that actually is now more detrimental than beneficial for him since it adds two more weaknesses to him (4x to Ice instead of 2x and also 2x to Fairy) and gives just neutral coverage to one of his previous weaknesses (Fire). Also, I'm not the only one who agrees that Lightningrod is not the greatest of abilities.

I feel that he should get at least +3 SpA/+3 Spd as a benefit, especially since Blaziken and Swampert are getting big boosts for their Mega Evos as well.

Just some thoughts, still haven't looked at the all the other Mega Evos as closely but that struck me very odd when I saw his description.

Yeah, Mega Sceptile really caught my eye as well. In most situations, I'd gladly take Overgrow or Unburden over Lightning Rod and pure Grass over Grass/Dragon, so I think the poor guy could use some stat boosts.

Mega Sceptile didn't get any stat boosts because his entire palette changes when he goes through evolution, which is primarily what I was basing the boosts on. Pokémon who change types and abilities get fewer or no boosts at all. Blaziken got big stat boosts because nothing about him changes when he evolves.

Not only that, but Lightning Rod makes Sceptile ridiculously hard to paralyze (Sceptile is immune to two of the three attacks that cause 100% paralysis, and the other one is only learned by eight pokémon altogether).

Effectively, I gave no stat boosts to any of the pokémon who changed types and abilities.

But Mega Evolution is about making a Pokemon stronger, not just different, right? And if a Pokemon goes through a complete palette change and comes out pretty meh on the other side, why not award boosts? When you compare Lightning Rod to something like Limber, Lightning Rod still ends up being a very average ability, so that alone doesn't really seem particularly advantageous to me. I figure if Mega Aggron can get a complete palette change (albeit by losing a type rather than gaining one) and wind up with one of the greatest possible types and greatest possible abilities and still get a couple of Defence boosts thrown in, Sceptile should get something?

(And this isn't to deprecate all the awesome work you did—because overall I think you balanced stuff quite nicely.)

I take no offense to the criticisms, and while the Tower is up but not open, I hope to invite more ideas to make it better until Mega Evolutions become a regular thing in this league.

Also, Mega Aggron doesn't get any stat boosts when he evolves. That was an oversight on my part, actually, so it's been removed.

Alright, I've been putting some thought into this Mega Stone thing, and I want to ask a few questions about them, please.

First of all, in order to find a particular Mega Stone in the Safari Zone, do we have to have the Pokemon that can make use of that stone (for example, would I be able to find Banettite even though my Shuppet hasn't evolved yet?)?

Second, when the winner of the Mega Tournament is determined in the future and has earned the Mega Stone for his/her Pokemon, would it be possible for that person to find another Mega Stone for that same Pokemon, and if so, what would happen?

Third, as a "reversal" of the previous question, if a situation occurred where Oslo/Ayeun/I got a Kangaskhanite/Mawilite/Absolite respectively, then won the tournament (in other words, if Oslo, Ayeun, or I somehow found a Mega Stone compatible with the Pokemon each of us is using in the Mega Tournament, and won the tournament afterward), what would happen to the second instance of the Kangaskhanite, Mawilite, or Absolite?

I'm presuming it is possible for two ASBers to get the exact same Mega Stone if they both have the Pokemon that can use it...am I right or wrong?

Mega stones aren't exclusive to one per person. You could in theory find a bunch of the same stone. This is why there is ore you can find. You can refine the ore to be whatever mega stone you need. So if you found 3 ore pieces and you sent them each to be refined into Heracronite, then you have three heracronite.

I don't know why you would want three though, as you can only mega evolve one Pokémon per battle. Maybe a limit of one per person should be imposed.

If you obtain the stone via tournament or via the safari zone before the tournament ends, the ref can note it and can change it into something else in the sz. Tournament trumps the sz in those cases since the tourneys are actually fixed into what you can win.

AND finally yes. I need to get a Garchompite someday, and cynder is well ahead of me with that.

I don't think we need to limit it to one Mega Stone per trainer though. The one mega per battle seems sound, except for battles that say otherwise.

Actually, this is good. No burnouts this year. However, I would like to see this Tournament finished before February, if only to ensure we get the whole Mega Stone thing going while it's still pretty new. Going to try and avoid the whole Legend stall we've been having trouble with.

Alright guys, I've been thinking of a new idea for an arena for some time now, and even though the name for it may be tough to come up with, I'm thinking I may borrow a few elements from The_Missing_Link's old gym, the White Room (I'm presuming this is the original White Room, right? I recall Greyfox having a gym arena with the same name, except his version is different)...so anyway, I've been contemplating doing something for the arena's main concept that would add to its challenge- removing the type of every damaging move used in it, so that a Pokemon's weaknesses and resistances would be inactive in the arena.

Anyone think this could work, with or without some additional tweaks?

Combat Disco does something like that. When the music shifts to Polka, both Pokemon on the field become typeless, so weaknesses/resistances/immunities no longer come into play until the music ends. It's alright. I don't love it and I don't hate it.
