    Default Gen 9

Gen 9 was just announced today. Since we don't have a forum for Gen 9 yet, I'm posting this here.

The new starters look interesting. I'm particularly interested in seeing what the fire starter turns into.

Seriously loving Sprigatito, it even has a fun name! ^_^ Not really sure about the whole open world concept, that was nothing that was really important to me or that i really wanted for a Pokemon game, honestly I would have been ok if Scarlet/Violet were made more like BD/SP, more old school but with updated graphics. Oh well. Still worth it to get a Sprigatito!!

Maybe they will have it evolve into a saber-tooth cat like they should have done with Litten.

It will be interesting to see how much south american influence are in these games, also I bet you that Fuecoco may be inspired by the myth of Coco (folklore) which is a mythical ghost-monster, equivalent to the bogeyman, apparently the monster is pictured as a humanoid alligator, I also theorize that as it evolves it will lose it limbs other than maybe a pair of wings perhaps to reference the feathered serpent. perhaps as a Fire and Ghost type.

A new Trailer came out. It's interesting that they are going with a past/future theme with this game.

    I'm really liking Koraidon.

    So many Lechonk memes XD

I'm feeling a sense of familiarity with this new gen, but that is probably because Spanish is my main language. One of my friends and I decided that he will buy Scarlet and I will buy Violet, so that takes care of the region exclusives on the first few days.

Also, a lot of people are picking up on the new professors having names not based on trees/flora, but rather on the meaning of the games itself, so that may be an indication of the new direction the company is trying to go to.

There is a lot of interesting things coming up each day, so this will be promising to watch.

Some of the new Pokemon actually look quite interesting. I'm going to put these ones in good use. My starter will be a hard pick.

On the other hand, unlike I planned, I still don't have Sword.

I'm just hoping that this doesn't become another "Gotta catch some of 'em" situation. The woefully limited Pokédex dampened my enthusiasm for Sword and Shield quite a bit.

That and the DLC. Pokémon doesn't need DLC, and the ninth generation needs to fix that mistake. I will die on this hill.

Depending on your point of view, one could argue that the third version of each gen could be considered that gen's DLC.

Unfortunately there's a good reason why the 'Gotta catch 'em all' moniker hasn't been used in many years...

Something indirectly related to Pokemon Scarlet/Violet: One of the future "Splatfests" (Special event held in the videogame Splatoon) will have the theme being Grass vs Water vs Fire, inspired by the Gen 9 starters. It'll be a good way to promote both games.

Scarlet and Violet are officially out. Has anyone gotten the games yet?

I ordered Scarlet from Amazon so I'm still waiting for it to be delivered (getting it tomorrow). Going based on what I have read online, I currently plan on using (spoilers for anyone that hasn't read up on the new pokemon) (Spoiler:) Quaquaval, Baxcalibur, Kilowattrel, Armarouge, Toedscruel, and Kingambit as my team.

Not going to lie, I'm finding this game entirely mundane. The open world is dull and uninspired, with some random trainers dotted about as you try to dodge wild Pokemon towards your next destination.

It would be a stretch to say I hate it, but based on my early impressions, it is shaping up to be my least favourite generation by far.

It's like a mix of Sword/Shield and Arceus Legends. I'm making little progress cause the world to explore is so big... At least I'm catching lots of Pokémon without progressing, heh.

I finished the game yesterday, it was a lot of fun. The final part of the game took a left turn and was quite unique. I had only few technical issues, so I'll give it a final 8/10.

    Spoilers for everyone:

I beat the game a few days. I did stick with my originally planned team of Quaquaval, Baxcalibur, Kilowattrel, Armarouge, Toedscruel, and Kingambit. I ended up naming them after Transformers characters (all Autobots).

    Quaquaval - Seaspray

    Baxcalibur - Grimlock

    Kilowattrel - Powerglide

    Armarouge - Sunstreaker

    Toedscruel - Warpath

    Kingambit - Ironhide

Koraidon - OptimusPrime (I actually wanted to go with Primal not Prime but it was too many letters)

My final team (of which I used most throughout the game) was:

    - Quaquaval
    - Gardevoir
    - Scyther
    - Garchomp

    Maybe it's just me but

    1. Gen 6 took place in Kalos when the euro crisis was a thing
    2. Gen 7 took place in Aloha... wat?
    3. Gen 8 took place in Galar when Brexit came to action
    4. Gen 9 took place in Paldea... wat?

Aloha is seen as a failure in Pokemon anime, and Paldea is seen as a failure in Pokemon games, while the real world seems to rotate around something trivial and unimportant.

I miss being able to go in BUILDINGS. WHY CAN’T I GO IN YOUR HOME AND RAID YOUR BIN?!

    And puzzles. I miss puzzles.

Also raids. I don’t understand how they’ve managed to make them worse than last gen. I’ve managed Cinderace ONCE. Even with the Slowbro build everyone is using. How is this fun?

The story was meh, apart from the very end. There were lots of feels there.

Yet I’m still playing it. I’m trying to make a dog team. This makes me happy.

    Fight me, bitch!

I’m not waiting for home. The team will be real trash since I won’t have a huge amount of type coverage. Do need opinions though; does Lucario count as a dog/canine?

Lucario is based on Anubis, an Egyptian God, who is a humanoid jackal. Jackals are a type of canine so it would count as a dog.
