Garen
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Fine, have it your way!" the newcomer shouted, drawing his hands back as if preparing an attack.
"Don't be stupid," Garen said plainly, turning his back to the newcomer to resume his search for survivors.
"What?!" barked the person angrily.
"If I had done this why would I still be here, searching the ruins for survivors? Is everyone on this blue dustball so impetuous?" Garen continued his search, hardly paying any attention to his accusor.
"You could be searching for anything!" the man shouted, obviously annoyed by Garen's response.
"If you don't believe me, ask the boy," Garen said casually, pointing over his shoulder at a pile of rubble off to his accusors right. "He has been following me since I arrived. He can tell you I did not cause this destruction."
There was a sudden thud as if something collapsed and a young boy quickly emerged from behind the pile of rubble as it crashed in on itself. The boy hesitated and then quickly darted over towards the man. He stood defiantly at his side, his arms up as if ready to defend himself.
"He......he coulda been here before an I just followed him back cause he forgot something........" the boy suggested nervously.
"If I had caused this," Garen held out his arms to indicate the ruins around them as he turned to face them, his face still bowed in the shadow of his hood, "I would likely have killed you as soon as I noticed you were following me boy. No, I am not responsible. If you use your heads that should be quite plain to see. Now if you'll excuse me I am trying to find survivors so that someone may tell us who is behind this chaos."
Garen turned away from them again and went back to sorting through rubble. He could feel energy fading out as the man powers down the attack he was preparing to fire. Garen could still sense the person was tense and ready with anticipation. It didn't matter much though. Garen couldn't care less about these people so long as they stayed out of his way.
As Garen turned over a fallen wall something caught his attention. Quickly he craned his head upwards and began to scan the sky. Something was approaching fast. Although it did not seem powerful on the surface something about it made him feel uneasy. As he stood up and panned his view slowly his eyes came to rest on a most unlikely of sights. A small girl was approaching through the air with great speed. Speed that seemed very unreasonable for one so young.
The girl landed in front of the man and boy. She examined them carefully and sighed, as if disappointed.
"Nope, you two are not the ones for Senpai," she said plainly.
She then turned and walked boldly towards Garen. She had none of the worry the other two had in approaching him. It was as if she were a child playing a game. Her mood was so casual and oblivious.
The child walked straight up to him like she had with the other two. She looked at him intently, trying to peer under his hood with little success. She cocked her head to one side and licked the side of her lip in concentration. After a moment she smiled and her head straightened.
"Yeah! You are the one that needs to go to Senpai! Will you follow me?" the girl said happily.
"I do not have time to visit your Senpai young one. I must find someone in this rubble to discover who has done this," Garen said, waving his arm at the destruction around them.
The girl hesitated, looking over the ruins. that small sense of uneasiness passed through Garen again as he noticed the smile did nto fade from the girls lips as she took in the destruction. Something was definately different about this girl.
"Polite-chan, you will not find anyone, they are all dead. But I can bring you to my Senpai!" the girl continued, still smiling happily.
Garen looked at the girl carefully, as if examining her for the first time. This was no ordinary child. Something told Garen that she had been here before.
"How can you be certain they are all dead?" Garen asked cautiously. His voice become somewhat less patient though he was careful to still sound calm. "Your Senpai.......did they do this?"
"Of course they are all dead. I saw them die," the girl nodded. "Of course! Senpai was the main cause of the destruction. I helped as much as I could though because she freed me. Senpai is so nice! But please, will you follow me? Senpai wants you to come,and I must bring you or Senpai will be angry with me!"
"Yes," Garen said coldly as he looked around at the ruins once more. "You must take me to your Senpai at once. I have many questions she must answer."
At his tone the girls smile faded slightly. It was clear Garen did not seem happy to be going to see her Senpai. She stared at him forcefully for a moment and then took to the air, waving for him to follow. As Garen also floated up the girls smile returned to her. At least he was coming as her Senpai had asked.
As they started off Garen could sense the other two taking off after them. Garen reached back his hand and fired a warning shot of ki between them (but closer to the adult). Garen looked back and waved his finger at them as if telling them no. They continued flying after them and the adult seemed ready to fire a blast of his own.
"This is not your business earthlings. I was summoned by this Senpai, not you. Turn back and continue searching the ruins if you wish to help. There are bound to be survivors somewhere amongst the rubble," Garen said firmly.
"There aren't," the girl said casually.
"Your Senpai had better hope there are," Garen said coldly, all pretense gone now.
He knew this child was not what she appeared now. She had a great deal of power that Garen could not quite sense at the moment. He no longer cared if she thought him calm or polite. Afterall, if she had so easily destroyed so many lives his being pleasant was not going to spare him her anger for very long. Especially if her Senpai was the type of person Garen started to think she must be.
The pair flew in silence. The girl was obviously quite upset at him now. Garen suspected that if she weren't told to bring him back she would have attacked him herself. The boy and man had seemingly stopped following them.....at least, they had drifted far enough behind not to interfere without notice.
Garen could easily sense the woman this girl called Senpai as they approached. He knew immediately it was the power signature he had originally set out after on landing before noticing the smoke from those ruins. She was indeed very powerful. It would not be an easy fight if she did not wish to cooperate.
When they came into sight Garen could see she was already busy at destroying another city. She was standing calmly for the moment but he suspected she would resume levelling the place as soon as she became bored with the man standing in front of her. It seemed the man was in a great deal of trouble to him.
"So you are the one who destroyed that city!" Garen shouted as they landed.
"I found him Senpai!" the girl also shouted happily.
The woman turned away from the man for a moment to take them in. She looked first at the girl with an approving smile, then at Garen with a cold glare. There could be no mistake. She was definately capable of the type of destruction he had seen. She had to be the one responsible.
"I found no warriors dead among that place. Only the corpses of those who could not defend themselves. It shows true cowardice to attack those helpless against you. The girl would not understand this at her age, but you should. There is no excuse for you to slaughter innocents," Garen was cold and precise with his words.
"They were the cowards!" shouted the Senpai.
"Were they? I found some not much older than your apprentice in those ruins. I suppose they were guilty of a crime equal to yours?" Garen said with a cold twist of sarcasm. After a pause Garen continued, "This is not why I am here though. Your fate will reside in the hands of those who guard this planet. It is not you I am after. I am after your master, the one who commanded you to level that city."
"I have no master!!!" she bellowed at the top of her lungs.
In her sudden fit of anger everyone could feel her power surge upwards, pouring off of her in waves. The ground cracked and buckled under her feet and she remained floating there above the crater formed below her. She glared at Garen forcefully, as if willing him to die. Garen stared back just as coldly. He would not show fear no matter how powerful this person became. Sensing her patience disappearing Garen quickly through off his cloak to reveal his form. He heard many gasps from around him, knowing that none of these people had likely seen a changeling before. He was sure only one of them had, the woman before him.
"I am searching for your master, the one who looks like me. It is him I must bring to justice," Garen shouted back with a perfectly even and cool voice. Garen also let forth a wave of power as his level rose. The ground buckled under his feet as well and he floated there, a determined look on his face. "Now, you can either assist me in locating him and I shall leave you to your own authorities to deal with you or you can continue to play dumb and we dance. Either way I will get the information I seek!!"
That had aparently been the last string of her patience. She rushed toward him with much greater speed than he anticipated. He barely had time to duck. As he slid under her punch he quickly swung his leg up only to catch air as she had already flipped upwards out of reach. He fired a pair of ki blasts after her but she avoided them easily as she flew higher into the air. He watched her carefully, trying to read her flight pattern to launch an anticipatory blast but something kicked his side, sending him flying into the stands. He turned to see the girl had attacked him. Her face seemed much different when she was angry.
The girl was closer and flew at him first. Right before she reached him a translucent purplish tendril shot out from Garen's wrist and wrapped around the girl. He swung it down, slamming her into the pavement. He then swung it around launching the girl at her Senpai as she also approached. The older woman swerved up and away from him at the last moment and the little girl went sailing harmlessly into the air. She caught herself right before she crashed and flew straight back towards him. It would not be a winning fight if he had to face both of them. The girl was obviously a more accomplished fighter than he would've thought.
Once again the girl was the first to reach him. As he was dodging blasts from the woman he had no time to deter her this time and instead had to deflect her attack. She kept attacking though with great speed, keeping him on the defensive. He watched her movements carefully, looking for an opening. She was an amazing fighter for her age.
As they fought Garen watched her Senpai over her shoulder. She was now charging at them again. He would not be able to handle both of them at once. He would lose very quickly fighting them that way. At the last second though a stray ki blast shot out from somewhere, narrowly missing the Senpai. She turned and flew towards the one who had attacked her. Fortunately the girl also noticed the blast and turned just for a second to see where the blast came from. It was just enough of an opening. Garen's tail shot forward around his side and grabbed the girl by the ankle. It lifted her up sideways into the air. Garen quickly hit her with a roundhouse that slammed her through the same stands she had kicked him into.
Garen turned and saw the Senpai was bearing down on the man she had been facing when Garen arrived. She was just distracted enough by him. Garen flew up and quickly kicked straight down into her back, slamming her into the pavement. Garen landed next to the young man and gave him a nod as the Senpai got up, quite angrily.
"I am Garen," he said as calmly as he could manage. "Thank you for your aid. I could not have taken them both."
"Rudy, and don't worry about it," they both split apart to avoid a blast from the Senpai. "We're even!"
They both landed next to each other again and dropped into defensive stances. The Senpai landed opposite them and the girl quickly joined her. Garen could see the rage in their eyes. He suspected before today no one had ever gotten the best of them, even for the a brief moment. He let out a deep sigh as he noticed the little girls power was now much larger than before. Her hair had changed as well. He could tell that it would not be so easy to get the best of this pair again. even with this young mans help he may not be able to beat them.
