    Default Open Challenge! (1 on 1)

    Alright here are the rules.

    Pokemon: 2 on 2 (one at a time)
    Order: I call first, you attack first
    DQ: 2 days
    Ref: Anyone who cares
    Arena: Fantasy Mountain (I plan on making video games, it's from an idea. Bear with me)

    Arena Description: The arena is a dark brown and red mountain. Surrounding the mountain is a ring of floating rock platforms of various sizes that have three main layers (floor unincluded) and paths to get to each level (The battle takes place on these platforms). At the top of the mountain exists a strange monster that resembles a volcano(body)/goat(legs)/gorilla(arms) cross-over. Every three rounds the monster may do one of three things.

    (1) The monster will throw rocks at both Pokemon. These rocks can crush most small Pokemon (unless they are hardy enough) and does heavy damage to the platform they are on.

    (2) The monster will use its magical powers to send a shockwave from the mountain. Anyone on the same level as this shockwave will have a high chance of losing an action. However, the shockwave also channels energy into the affected Pokemon (reduce fatigue)

    (3) The monster will use its magical powers to send chunks of the mountain at the Pokemon. While it does damage, it is meant to replenish the ring of platforms in the arena, even if there are still platforms in it.

    All of these have an equal chance of happening. While certain moves like Rollout and high velocity/high momentum moves are legal, the general size of each platform suggests against it. You can choose which layer you want to start on. Should the Pokemon get knocked off the bottom layer, a well-placed trampoline will bounce your Pokemon back up.

    I hope that's okay with you guys. For my first Pokemon, I will use Tod my Male Larvitar on the top layer.

    Note: If you don't care for certain aspects of the arena, feel free to ask for corrections (but I won't change the arena itself)

    I accept I will use Chomper my Male Totodile on the Top floor

    Alright Chomper use Hydro Pump to knock Tod off the platform then use your siggy Old Faithful as he's in the air and when he lands hit him with a Toxic!

    Hydro Pump - Old Faithful - Toxic

    Sig Move: Old Faithful
    If in an arena with water in it Chomper makes it rise up like a gyhser under the opponent sending them flying
    Type: Water | Accuracy: 90% | Damage: 10%.
    I'm assuming there is water underground.

    I don't think there's any water in the platforms themselves, but that'll be the ref's interpretation.

    Alright, I'll just post my attacks and see if someone can ref this battle.

    First up, Tod I want you to use Double Team and jump away from the Hydro Pump. Then I want you to try to use Toxic on Chomper, and end with Ancient Power.

    Double Team n' Jump/Toxic/Ancient Power

    Subs: Should you be sent flying, try to land on one of the middle platforms. I don't think Old Faithful will hit you if you land on one. Use Protect to avoid Toxic, but if he aims for the wrong clone, try to use Rock Throw on his platform.

    I'll ref for you, but i'll give you my interpritation of the arena first, so you have a chance to change your attacks if you so feel like it.

    Since the mountains is deep red and brown, and has a volcano-esque monster atop it, I picture the general area to be a volcanic wasteland, with no water nearby at all. Also see the attachment for ageneral idea of how the arena looks.

    Fine, but you still have to post attacks first. Actually this is fortunate for me cause I don't think Larvitar knows Rock Throw (Rock Slide, I know he can learn)

    okay Chomper let's start on the bottom floor this time. First concentrate and aim Hydro Pump above you let's try to break through those platforms to Tod. If he's on the same floor as you hit him with Hydro Pump hard. Then use your Subsitute (15%) and finish up with Hydro Pump in a circle all around you just in case.

    Subs: If he gets next to you use Toxic then Hydro Pump. If he uses status moves (Toxic, Thunder Wave, etc.) or Rock Slide use Protect.

    Hydro Pump/Protect/Toxic, Subsitute (15%)/Protect/Toxic, Hydro Pump/Protect/Toxic

    Very well, there's little chance that one Hydro Pump is going to break through a platform. Just keep moving from top platform to top platform and waste away Chomper's energy. Then jump to the middle level.

    Tod: Jump-Jump-Head for middle platform

    (Makes you wonder if the three level thing was a good idea. Oh well)

    * Battle *

    Gladiator VS Pikachu101

    * Welcome *

    The arena set for this battle, a desolate wasteland inhabited by little life, the only activity coming from one long mountain. A tall, edgey mount, with violent razor edges protrusions spiking from it's body. Floating, around the mountain are three disticntly layered ring shaped platforms. The highest and largest floats far out from the mountain side itself, moving lower, smaller and further in, on three different stages. Linking each platform is a bridge of sorts.

    On the mountain istelf, crawls a beast of unknown origins. Large and bulky, it's body structure and appearence takes on a similar look of the mountain. It's legs are thin, but allow it to move quickly across the uneven surface, while it's arms are muscular and strong enough to lift rocks. It peers down over the platforms through it's narrow reptilian eyes.

    Standing on opposites sides of the largest platform stand two pokemon trainers. Gladiator the challenger, releases his own pokemon, Tod a Lavitar onto the top platform. Pikachu 101, the accepter of the battle releases his pokemon, a Totodile by the name of Chomper, onto the lowest platform. As both trainers are whisked away to a safe area where they are able to veiw the battle and command their pokemon, it looks like the fight is ready to begin.

    * Round One Begins *

    On the highest platform, Tod looks down, seeing his Totodile opponent taking a sharp intake, the little Rock type guesses of an iminant attack. Chomper of course, cannot see exactly where Tod is, so, guessing roughly where the Larvitar was released, he fires his high speed Water attack at the high platform base. By the time the attack starts the ring vibrating from pressure, Tod has moved further along and watches from afar as the small blue pokemon wastes his water on the platform.

    While the platform is still intact from the assult, it's certainly weakened. Not alot of rocks, especially in such a dry and warm environment as this, can withstand such a heavy burst of cold water, and hiting the top platform has left a large puddle on the middle ring too. Tod continues to keep an eye on his enemy, who seems to be sitting in the same place, unmoving, just staring blankly at the sky. Well, as far as Tod is concerened, that's all Chomper IS doing. Unfortunatly for Chomper, that's all he IS doing. He's trying to remember how to remember how to create a Substitute, but he just can't work it out. He shakes his head, dissapointed, but continues with the commands he was set.

    Tod shifts further along the top platform, before coming to a bridge linking the top and middle rings. Looking cautiously at his foe once more, Tod hops dow to the middle platform, only to suddenly become aware of a jet of water, shooting from the bottom ring, coming towards him at high speed. Tod drops and covers his head, but the blast of water washes straight over him. As he squels in pain, the jet stops. Chomper, hearing the cry notes his sucessful hit of his enemy.

    And, sorry if I didn't make this obvious, but when I interpreted the arena, I saw each platform as being just one ring on stone, not seperate platforms.

    EDIT - There, there isn't much changed, but Chomper doesn't have a substitute anymore.

    Looks like I'll have to redo my attacks. Alright, Tod try to get above Chomper and use Toxic. Follow with Ancient Power and end with Rock Slide.

    Subs: Try to use Earthquake if Chomper tries to reach your level.

    I guess it can't be stressed enough that referees ought to check out a Pokédex to make sure that the combatants' commands are legal. Totodile doesn't even learn Substitute.

    Ah Drats.
    Sorry guys I forgot too.

    Anyway let's get back on with this battle. Okay Chomper I know you are upset but focus man. When he uses Toxic use Detect/Protect (Whichever one he learns If both Detect). Then While he uses Ancient Power jump on the bouncey thing up to where Tod is and then use Hydro Pump in the air He'll use Earthquake so you'll be safe.

    Detect/Protect, Jump on Bouncy thing to middle, Hydro Pump in air

    * Round Two Begins *

    Peering down at his laughing foe, Tod snorts in anger. A feeling of anger and hate swells within him, but instead of releasing it, he channels the dark emotions into creating an oily like poison. Aiming directly down at his watery foe, the Larvitar spits the glob of Toxic poison down, but Chomprer, cleanly jumps away, detecting almsot instantly the exact spot the attack was heading too.

    Tod begins to swell with anger, having been caught out by the wiley Totodile's merry dancing and detecting. Looking across to the mountainside, Tod begins to stamp his feet, creating ibrations in the air that knock various rocks loose from the mountain. The rocks begin to tumble down the mountain side, the firey beast living atop, trying to stay put. Some of the larger rocks bounce off and hit the middle platform, obstructing it and leaving large cracks in the ring. Tod smiles, but it seems his enemy is nowhere to be seen.

    Chomper is free falling down to the soft trampolines below. Happy to have escaped the attack, he hits the material and bounces straight back up, aiming for the middle platform besides Tod. But the trampolines were designed only to save falling pokemon, not to bounce them whereever they could move to themselves, and Chomper lands back where he started. Tod egins stamping his feet again, faster this time, and lots of smaller rocks begin their trip down the mountain side. Crashing down over both the middle and lower platform, Chomper runs about trying to find cover as he is bombarded with the little stones.

    Tod finally smiles and laughs, but as his rock slide ends, the cry of the beast on the mountain distracts his attention. It's angry, far more angry than it should be. Another burst of water shoot out from Chomprer, hitting larvitar just off his side. Not directly on, as those falling rocks have made Chomper a little concussed and dizzy.

    Focus Chomper!!

    Here's what we'll do that monster is very mad at Tod, So let's start out by just relaxing until Tod attacks. If he tries to get near you Hydro Pump. If more status moves or Rock Slide from him Protect If any other long range attacks, avoid it anyway you can including bouncing or Hydro Pump back.
    When the Monster attacks Numbers stand for attacks 1) If it's this attack use Detect. 2) This attack just let it hit you if he does it on your floor. and 3) Just don't worry Hydro Pump any that look like they will hit you. Tod shouldn't be much of a problem during this turn.

    Relax/Protect/Hydro Pump/Bounce, Relax/Protect/Hydro Pump/Bounce, Relax/Protect/Hydro Pump/Bounce

    Monster Attack Turn: Detect/Relax/Hydro Pump any that are threating

    Alright, Tod, our strategy is to tire out Chomper it would seem. Get down to the Bottom floor. Follow this with a Toxic attack, and end with Ancient Power.

    Bottom/Toxic/Ancient Power

    Subs: If Vulcan (our monster friend) uses either attacks 1) or 2) then just Double Team out of the way. Follow that with your signature move: Venon Gladius. If it's attack 2) than just use the move that got interrupted. (ex: If Vulcan uses Move 2) before he got to use Toxic, than use Toxic next action)

    Larvitar, Male
    Tod
    Sig: Venom Gladius
    Flavor Text: Tod has the power to harness malign energies due to his potential Dark-type powers (as seen in his attacks and evolution). Focussing said malevolent powers can cause hectic results. For a moment, there is nothing but silence, but, to the opponent’s surprise, Tod unleashes an almost unearthly howl. The sky turns dark for about a second before Tod dashes his opponent, his horn glowing an unhealthy blue. He then stabs his opponent. For about two actions nothing happens, then the Malignant Venom sets in.
    Type: Dark |Accuracy: 85% |Damage: 5% (initial action) |Effect: Nothing happens until two turns after Venom Gladius. After that, the opponent will begin suffering the effects of the Malignant Venom. Instead of attacking the opponent physically, the Venom attacks the opponent’s mind. Every other action after the Malignant Venom takes effect, the opponent will see the most traumatic things he/she can imagine. These visions will torture the opponent, and more energy will be used trying to cause an attack. After being affected by it for three actions (Every time a vision shows up), the opponent will be cured of the Malignant Venom. Can only be used once per battle. Until the opponent is cured, Tod will be feeling guilty about the way he has treated his opponent and there is a 25% chance that he will not attack at all that one action.

    "Another large bunch of commands"

    * Round Three Begins *

    After about 20 minutes of the commands being issued, the next round starts. It's the third round, and Vulcan (the beast on the mountain) has had enough. Not only had his mountain habitat been rocked by an Ancient Power, but he'd also been pelted witha Rock Slide, and he's NOT amused. Having been subjected to an onslaught of rocky attacks, he begins his own rock fall. Huge chunks of stone begin to erupt from the mountain, as if the mount were growing. Then, they would snap and fall down to the platforms like spears of stone. Chomper begins to detect where one or two of the rocks are falling, but can't spot them all, and ends up trapped between two huge spears of stone, while Tod tries to use Double Team to avoid the rocks. But the rocks weren't aiming for anyone in particular so the clones are ignored, disintergrated as they attempt to fool the lifeless rocks into missing the real Tod.

    Foolishly thinking he was safe, Tod is struck on the head by a large, though not huge peice of rock. Fortunatly his own Rock type protected him somewhat. As the montser calms and the rocks start falling, Tod manages to wobble down to the bottom platform, dizzy and with a throbbing headache. He surveys the arena. Large portions of the arena are cut off, but the serious cracks have reformed and the platforms are complete again.

    Chomper, still trapped between two huge rocks, is forced to drop down and bounce back up to the lowest platform, and finally both pokemon are near each other. Both pokemon, confused by which move they are supposed to perform next, just pick at random rom the 10 or so attacks they'd been instructed to perform in each different situation. Tod hucks a deep breath again, and spits a huge puddle of Toxic over Chomper. The little crocodile sprays a jet of high speed water, using it to mainly wash himself free of most of the poison he manages to hit Tod with the remained of the attack. As the last of the poison seeps through Chomper's skin, it's not really enough to affect him with as bad poisoning as Tod had hoped.

    How is Tod poisoned? He was the one who did the attack, not Chomper. Also, where are the Double Team clones?

    Alright Tod, our performance is okay. Let's open up with an Earthquake. It will take awhile for Chomper to reach the nearest open exit. Follow with Ancient Power and end with Ancient Power

    Earthquake-Ancient Power/Rockslide-Ancient Power

    Okay Chomper we are not going down because of Fatigue jump over Tod using Hydro Pump as he uses Earthquake and then use your Double Team to keep him guessing.

    Jump and Hydro Pump, DT x2

    Subs: If jump and Hydro Pump would be two actions just use 1 DT
    and by Jump and Hydro Pump i mean jump in the air and use Hydro Pump aimed at the ground to vault over tod.

Chomper, trying his best to deal with the movement, can't seem to time a jump very well, so he directs his Hydro Pump attack directly down, using is as a propulsion to shoot up and away, landing firmly on the safe and unmoving middle ring. Spalshed a bit by the Hydro Pump's last movement Tod stops stamping and the movement of the ring ends. He notices his enemy has evaded him, and frowns with anger.

    Stamping his little feet again, the Larviatr begins to rain rocks down from the mountain side again. Having exhausted the mountain of large rocks previously, only smaller, less dangerous rocks find themselves falling down. Some of the larger rocks that rest on platfoms, roll off and down to the base of the mountain with the Ancient Power that Tod is demonstrating. A rock hits Chomper, and the totodile disappears, a sneaky Double Team while Tod was distracted has proved a life saver for Chomper.

    But still Tod stamps his feet, more rocks keep falling. A second glow from around Chomper signifies another two clones that join his previous making three lifeless copies. But as the rocks fall, another is broken into air, and one unfortunatly bumps Chomper off the edge of the platform. He falls down, just landing on the edge of the lowest platform and finds himself looking at his now smiling enemy once more. His two remaining clones sit atop the middle platform, but Tod is convinced of the real identities when the Chomper before him spits and cringes from a sudden jolt of posion scouring thorugh his veins.

    Well Chomper you've been doing good so far let's keep at it.

    First, lets make things wet by using Rain Dance then hit him with Ancient Power (bred-on from Corsola or a Prehistoric poke) and Freeze him up with blizzard!

    Tod open up with Sunny Day after he uses Rain Dance, Ancient Power is nearing useless according to the ref so just go in with Venom Gladius (explained earlier), and end with Earthquake. Sunny Day should reduce the Blizzard.

    Tod: Sunny Day (after Rain Dance), Venom Gladius, Earthquake

    * Round Five Begins *

    Chomper claps his hands together, and closes his eyes. Muttering a few chosen words, and hopping about it a ritual dance, the skies above begin to darken, clouds crashing into each other begin to empty soft droplets of rain fall down over the arena. Tod, uncomfortable already, claps his own hands together, pauses for a brief moment then roars. His body seems to glow with a red tinge, as the rain suddenly dries up. Chomper frowns as the clouds disapate as quickly as they appeared. The darkness fades and a brilliant strong light floods the arena, bearing down a gret heat on the mountain.

    Chomper is most annoyed, and this time takes a leaf out of he Larvitar's book, stomping his feet to bring rocks crashing down the hillside. There's not that many loose rocks left now, so the effects aren't as amazing as Chomper would have liked, but the Totodile suddenly feels a surge of power. Tod looks on with fear as the shadow image of a Feraligtr appears over his enemy. The two roar in turn, and the mountain springs to life, some how spawning bigger rocks that crash down onto the arena. Tod runs excessivly to dodge the boulders until one or two bounce into him and push him off the edge.

    Fortunatly, the trampolines at the mountain base bounce the Larvitar back up, but he's missed a chance to attack with a possibly powerful move. As he returns to the bottom platform, a cold wind picks up. Chomper seems to be generating an icy cold blizzard, and chunks of snow and ice are blowing across the platform. It was hoped that a Clear Sky such as there is would put a dampener on such an attack, but the immediate blow is hurtful enough. As the blowing wind does begin to heat up and the snow melt and not make it's distance Tod begins to stamp his feet once again, this time causing the ring to rock and shudder under the seismic forces. Chomper is vibrated off the ede and for the second time in the round a pokemon is bouncing up off the trampolines.

    Dang! How many times have I used Ancient Power?! That randomizer had it against me from the start.

    Pikachu: Yeah, I know. I'm no expert strategist, but I usually use a Weather altering move after the opponent gives commands.

    Alright, Tod, here's the plan. Try to reduce the effects of Ancient Power with Scary Face and use Headbutt on Chomper, then head for the middle ring.

    Subs: Use Clear Skies if the opponent uses Pray for Rain. Use Double Team if he attempts a status altering move.

    Scary Face-Headbutt-Midring

    Venom Gladius is still usable, right? Tod never got to use that move

    Alright Chomper let's use that new power. Do another Jump then Hydro Pump combo only aim right below Tod. That should counter Tod's Scary Face. Then right as he's using Headbutt to the air hit him with Toxic. And finish of by just relaxing. He won't hurt you just yet.

    Jump + Hydro Pump, Toxic after Tod starts his Headbutt and before he finishes, Relax.

    * Round Six Begins *

    Tod crunches his face together and stares hard at Chomper. His eyes radiate hatred and his grin is twisted into a monsterous snarl. The horrid look he makes seems to glow under the light of the sun and shadow the worst parts making it even more offensive and scary to look at. Chomper tries to ignore it by making a jump, but his small muscles seem to be unable to perform anything more thana tiny one foot hop. But fortunatly, he does manage to fire off a jet of water at high speed. The Hydro Pump blasts out and hits the floor beneath Tod, causing the Larvitar to break his concentration and fall backwards from shock, as he is splashed by the attack again. The pressure pushes Chomper up onto the middle platform. The Totodile curses silently, as that wasn't what was planned.

    But it seems fortunate for Chomper that he ended up that high, as Tod is stuck completely as to how he is going to perform a headbutt attack. But unfortunatly for both pokemon and trainers they seem to have forgotten what round it is. Its the sixth round of the battle and Vulcan is still quite upset. He's severly lacking in a mountain now, and there's not much left to throw at his mountain invaders. All he has left at his disposal is a defening screech. The beast howls a disgruntled animal cry and a shockwaves of force radiates from around the mountain, slamming out across the highest ring of the arena, shattering each rock into tiny pebbles and clearing all obstructions.

    Chomper and Tod breathe a sigh of relief that they weren't within that screech, but now, they can continue on. Tod is fortunatly safe for the moment, as he makes his way to the nearest bridge and moves his way up to the middle ring. Chomper in the meantime just sits and observes Tod, taking the opportunity to have a breather. As he sits and rests, he feels the powers of the ancients leaving his body.

    Gladiator - Yes Venom Gladious can still be used. And before I forget, I need to confirm whether this is a 1 vs 1 or a 2 vs 2 battle. The topic originally said 1 vs 1 but your stats at the start stae 2 vs 2. can you confirm this?

    Let's just keep it at one on one. It won't make a huge difference on my financial standings either way.

    Chomper let's keep things going head to the top and then relax until Tod comes. If he comes for you blast him once more with Hydro Pump

    Top - Relax/Hydro Pump, Relax/Hydro Pump

    Subs: If he uses his siggy use Detect and avoid it.

    Tod, get to the top by using the staircase adjacent to the one Chomper used (the one on the left in the diagram, so I won't confuse the ref) then use Earthquake x2.

    Subs: If Chomper determines that you are too close, use Double Team!

    Looks like this is going to be a slow start to the round, as both pokemon shrug and head for the top platform via the stairs closest to them. Both as far away from each other as possible, the match seems a little two sided, as Chomper sits down to relax. A bad move, as Tod's stamping feet begin to rock the circular platform until it's a shuddering stone ring. Chomper is completely unable to relax now, as he clings on for dear life trying to ride out the shaking.

    The quaking platform seems to slow down for a moment, but Tod stamps his feet again and again and the shuddering and shaking starts up once more, knocking poor Chomper all over the place, the platform tips and turns and finally shakes the Totodile off the edge, sending him spralling through the air, until he bounces off a trampoline and finds himself safely back on the lowest ring, albiet frightened and shaking himself.

    Um, so where does that leave Chomper? I'm assuming that he is in the same position, just the bottom ring.
