The episode just started. Ash and Pikachu splashing at each other was kinda childish.

Default Master Quest/Johto Finale: Hoenn Alone!

This was a really good closer to the Jextremely long Johto series, which will make a lot of people happy. However,I believe that Hoenn will be just as long,if not longer, than Johto. ;o

Anyways, the episode was a great ender. It was filled with tension, and when it ended with Pikachu getting sick,it led into the first Hoenn episode with Ash and everyone trying to cure Pikachu. I won't spoil it any further, but it's great.

Of course not. Because that'd suck really, really hard. Unfortunately, even though you didn't think about it, this guy did.

Eh.. it was an ok episode.. nothing special.

Did anyone else notice they pronounced Pidgeot's name wrong? I think they pronounced it "Pidg-ot" no E... Of course.. that could have been the nickname of the pidgeot.. but.. *shrug*

I liked the episode, and it had a good ending to it with a glimpse of a bunch of new Hoenn Pokemon. Can't wait till the premiere of Advanced next week.

This is the most minor of deatils, but did anyone else notice how cool they animated Weezing when it was battling? That thing looked absolutely sinister and mean. I loved it!

    The good:

At least Meowth didn't care about the Rattata. I hate when Meowth does a personality shift and suddenly cares about helping those twerpier then he is. All he cared about was his own flea-bitten hide, and nasty as he came accross in this episode, it's his character (American character, anyway. I hear he's a philosopher in Japan).

I like seeing others help out against Team Rocket. The Captain and Officer Jenny did a great job. I liked that Jenny had a Pidgeot. It would have been great had she had a few more of the Pokemon types Ash once had. Same goes for the Captain. Between him and Jenny they could have had Ash's original team come to help him out, in a symbolic sense, anyway.

This epiosde had more to do with Rattata then any other. I always thought the little fella shoulda gotten it's own episode, but I guess this will be as close as it comes.

The best was Jessie nastily telling jenny how much she cares about what the officer has to say. "About this much!" She looked so self-centered and nasty. It's good to see Team Rocket bad again. Maybe it's because they finally got some food.

    The bad:

When Jenny says to Ash that his persistence to find Pikachu means that Pikachu must be more then just another Pokemon...ugh...

Not because it is corny, but because of what it says about Ash's other Pokemon. Were Ash alone with Noctowel, and Noctowel stolen, do you think he'd try hard to get it back? I did, up until Jenny and Ash's little chat.

The Captain's voice was a joke. It sounded like someone was making fun of someone else's voice. UgH! I know there are talented voice actors out there. Why is the #1 animated show, with millions upon millions of bucks at it's disposal, settling for goofy voices and sloppy dubbing?

And along those lines, how about this weeks title? Hoenn Alone? That's as bad as Johto Photo Finish. They don't even make sense anymore. Next week stay tuned for Hoenn On The Range! Followed by Brock-in' About Love!

    The ugly:

Pikachu needed to beat the living snot out of Meowth when the two of them were alone together. Meowth has been lost and alone with only Pikachu before, and Pikachu showed mercy and helped him out. This time, however, given just how nasty meowth has been and wa sbeing, that cat needed to get a Thunde rattack right in the face.

    The score:

    7.5/10

    Good, but not great.

The episode was great. ANd the title, did made some sense, instead of johto photo finish. Is it just me or Kids WB has reduced the amount of ads and the first part was like really long. And I almost thought that the episode ended before the part Ash was looking at the new pokes. Pidgot was a nick name.. The episode ending was gr8 with new pokemon and Pikachu getting sick!

    I would rate it a 9/10!

    Next week, Pokemon Advance!

Coolies. I only saw the last 10 minutes (right where he saves them from hauter and they want hi mto be the supreme ruler) but I was just wondering, was that Ash's old pidgeot or Jennys? ( I saw someone saying Jenny had one..) I hope it was Ash's old pidgeot!

I wish! Sadly, officer Jenny just happened to have a Pidgeot. Which now takes Jumpluff's place as most surprising non-Growlithe Pokemon for an Officer Jenny to have.

This episode was alright. It showed the seriousness of Ash being alone, and with Pikachu as his only pokemon.

I loved Jessie talking to Jenny! I like it when she's snoty.

I enjoy episodes of Meowth and Pikachu alone together. I just wish they'd have subtitles so it isn't just Meowth saying, "What Pikachu? You're saying we should help 'em?"

Seeing Haunter again was really cool! It's probably my favorite ghost pokemon.

And I believe Jenny pronounced Pidgeot as "Pidgit", but I could be mistaken. I would really appreciate it if Ash could just mention, at least mention his Pidgeot. Or has he forgotten it completely?

    Anyway, I'd give it a 7/10

Pidgeot's Japanese name, is, well, Pidgeot, but, it's pronounced "Pijot", which is why 4Kids probably pronoucned it like that.

Yeah, Meowth is a philosopher in the Japanese version - he tends to sometimes stick up his finger and tell Jesse and James a mini-lecture.

Yeah I didn't like that line too much either. But we've seen that Ash is just as determined when his other Pokemon are taken or in danger (like in the Orange Islands when Bulbasaur was kidnapped by the sewer creature, and later when Chicorita was caged and evolved because of Ash's struggles). The point of the conversation that was probably a bit lost in the translation was that a trainer has a special bond with their first Pokemon that no other Pokemon can take.

This is the first time they've given a Rattata a personality, normally it's a background Pokemon. Seeing it shake hands with Haunter was cute.

Pikachu really showed off its strength, it was funny to watch the ghost run off from Pikachu glaring at it. Pikachu's tactics when fighting a bunch of Haunter at once were pretty nice too.

The gag where Pikachu thinks for a moment that Meowth has come to understand that it belongs with Ash was well done.

And yes, Weezing was in the zone today! He/she was psyched, knew that he was not facing three teams of Pokemon this time and ready to kick some butt!

Was it just me or did Ash get banged around a LOT in this episode? I mean he crashes into that steel crane along with Team Rocket, then crashes into a pile of wooden crates, hurting himself so badly that even his stubborn determination can't get him to stand up. Then he gets hit by a flying metal oil drum bigger than he is! But than again, from the openning scenes with his shirt off it looks like he's bulked up over time so he can take it.

And we see the beginnings of Pikachu's sickness in this episode. Unable to properly expel the excess electrical energy it is constantly generating, the resulting strain and overload will lead Pikachu to madness and eventually death in a hideous explosion of Pika parts if it can't be stopped.

Next week is the new opening theme! The premiere of Pokemon Advanced!

Well it's just as thought all along:Ash plays favorites and Pikachu is his favorite,I feel sorry for his other Pokemon that were left behind(they all should run away from him.Sorry I don't mean to bash but Ash really does'nt deserve their affection).

Hey did anyone notice that the captain refered to Pikachu as him?
Anyhow if finding stowaways was that easy why did'nt the captain find TR earlier.
TR's getting the right idea about taking Pikachu at night too bad they did'nt get away,I'd like to see them win for once.

As for Ash's Pidgeot, yes he probilly has forgotten about him.

One more thing, the sleeping arrangements in the ferry were kind of odd all the passengers in one room? don't ferries have cabins?

P.S. the captains Machoke was neat.

The episode was okay. I thought the story had no where to go and that it was kinda bland. Since all they did was get on the boat ride to Hoenn. Ash had no one to talk to, except Pikachu. And since Pikachu only responded in Pokemon Language... there weren't much to do or say to each other besides, "We're starting on our own journey".

Let's see... I liked how Haunter and Pidgeot showed up, seeing as Ash previously had them. Pikachu and Meowth being together was great. They always get seem to get along together when they're "lost".

The part where it shows Ash with new clothes is great. They showed his feet first (new shoes??) and then up to his body and face. Perfect way of revealing his new outfit.

Now let's pray the intro song next week is awesome. Or else we'll be stuck with it for quite a long while!

Anyways, I missed the episode... I tried taping it, and the timer for some reason got just the first five minutes, so if you wanna know my review of that..... well, same as what Venusaur said, lol. Meh, I'll get a copy from my friend.... I'll add my comments.

Great trransition eppie. ^_^ Here's my review thingie.

    The Good
Ash getting the heck beat out of him. Why? It shows he just won't give up and he'll go to any length to save his friend.

Rattata and Haunter's little handshake. Cute. ^_^

Jessie's show of 'respect' to Officer Jenny.

Weezing was very nicely animated as several people said. Ferocious instead of stoned for a change.

    Ash's new clothes.

The new Pokemon. Is it just me or is Sharpedo awesome now? Never liked him before, but seeing him on screen made him suddenly cool.

Pikachu... ILL?! Oh no this means - A cool plot for the first ep of Advanced. ^_^

    The Bad
Can't really think of anything... Too cheerful at the moment. Well, if I have to, this one wasn't quite as well animated as the last but hey, it wasn't the emotional roller coaster the other was either.

    My Rating: 10/10

Alright, alright. I cracked with some chuckles, like when Meowth said that Pikachu wasn't going to be the protector of all of those pokemon but would be with TR (Pikachu thought Meowth was going to mention Ash instead).

Being a nitpicky, when TR first reveals their electromagnet, it has six prods sticking out, though when TR is stuck to it on the ship, it suddenly 8 (or 12. Can't remember)

Anyway, it won't be too interesting for me next week (or anyone else who saw the preview of the 2 first 'Advanced' episodes months before) since I know how it goes and what 4Kids did for NO reason.

As for this episode, I give it a 6/10.

Didn't they power up the machine a bunch? Perhaps the extra prods came then.

They did it to celebrate the release of Ruby and Sapphire, which is a good reason.

Look for the topic about the episode before this one, "Gotta Catch Ya Later!" that was the name of the episode.

That's certainly a feasible explanation. I remember all of the Haunter using Nightshade on the contraption before TR blasted off, but you'd expect the machine to get destroyed.
