Heh, I'm SO glad they kept WTP... glad I don't have to make the list end, lol. Anyways, was there an Ending theme?

Ah. And so, Advanced Generation begins outside japanese shores, with probably the best dub theme 4Kids evil minds have concucted...kudos to them ^_^. But still, no way does this dub match up to the original...not even close IMO. The first thing that annoyed me, was the changed BG music..its a new begining dammit, not the middle of the johto league! I'm so sick of them inserting music from the film, which is a shame because all the japanese music is superior and it looks like we'll never get to hear it. The second thing...Haruka-chan's voice R.I.P. Man, I hate that dub voice so much
*ahem*
Ok, I'm done with the bad points, sorry for whining
Anyways, I loved the episode itself, minor gripes aside. Haruka was introduced well, and Jessie's change of attitude towards Pika capturing was a nice change form the usual optimism.
The sence with Birch and the Poochyenas was hilarious...well...in the original version anyways. And so begins Haruka's rocky relationship with Mudkip kind. Why they like attacking her I'll never know.
The starter pokémon were nice to see, although Treecko sounds like its saying 'treacle' ( I hope to god Ash's doesn't have that voice ), Mudkip sounded average and Torchic is no where near as cute sounding as Achamo.
I was disapointed they kept 'Who's that pokémon', it kinda seemed cheap the way they just changed the MQ logo in the corner to read 'Advance'.
All in all, it was a good episode, and a nice introduction to AG.
9/10 for me ^_^

In 20 years, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook will merge together into one super big time-wasting site called YouTwitFace.
We're not going to Guam... are we?
Zak - Nope, at the end its just the intro, at half-screen because they smoosh the credits in >_<;;
All-in-all, I loved it! (ps to USA-ers: nya-nya! we see it before you) I didn't like Wailmer's voice, I imagined it to be hoarse and wheezy. I loved Sharpedo's, though, Torchic's and Mudkip's voices were also pretty good. Hwever, Treacle's (as he shall henceforth be known lol) voice was pretty light...i expected a deep, gruff, macho voice.
Fave Quotes:
"Lemme see, you're not happy, not sad....that must mean...*climax* angry! You're angry, aren't you!"
Birch, to three angry Poochyena.
May - "Aww...it'll be so tiring walking to Oldale without my shiny new bicycle! Wait...you can come with me!"
Ash - sure, we'll travel together!
May - Yay! -_-;; (that'll show him)
those made me laugh. OH, and also May's sh*tty attempt at commanding!
"Mudkip...water gun attack...." it was a reeeeeely boring voice she did XD
I liked the dub voice, though, sorta like that girl of Digimon...erm...Kari, that's the 1. Did anybody else think that?
PS: The opening was cool, but the lyrics felt a bit personal (i;m a kid from pallet....) i dunno, those didn't work for me, but I liked it!
Overall score:
9.99/10

They kept 'WTP?'
Well, it feels archaic to keep such a feature, but 4Kids probably would have done a poor job making eyecatches.
WHat the..... In which country did the episode aired? Uk? Canada?
Also, what is WTP?
we will see the episode in US on the upcoming Saturday.
WTP is Who's That Pokemon
As for this topic, I can't wait till Saturday, I'm eager to see what the opening theme is o.o
Well the US has seen it. Minus the opening and Who's That Pokemon. Yeah, May's voice is annoying, but I'll get used to it. It'll get better on as we go. The voice actor is still developing the character. Remember Ash's voice? Ugh...;o I loved Mudkip. Classic. It was great how they stuck close to the game with the Poochyena and the bag. It was a great opener. Poor Ash, another bike destroyed.![]()
Poo, I have to wait two more days to see AG. >.<*
I liked this episode alot! It actually made me laugh out loud, twice. First time when May went head-first into the tree on her bike, and the second time when she told Mudkip to use Water Gun and it sprayed her in the face. ^_^
May is so dumb, that's what I love about her!
P.S. Torchic is sooo cute!
To be precise, we're two eppies ahead of all of you so...
NYA NYA <. Ya, we already watched the first two episodes in kidWB's 1 hour "sneak peek." I wonder if the'll replay those two epsiodes....
I've seen the first three episodes of Advanced, so nya nya on you!
And I'll see the next two tomorrow.![]()
They kept Who's That Pokémon? Ugh, I don't find it even slightly entertaining anymore. They should've just got rid of it like they did in the Japanese version. (And using the Master Quest format is pretty cheap. What about the title screen?)Originally posted by Gravy

There's already a video of the opening theme online, it has a topic here somewhere... might be in the spoilers forum.Originally posted by 2ra

Well, for the States, it's coming on tomorrow, but it will be no surprise to people who saw the 'previews' back in March. I'm still reeling over 4Kids' keeping 'WTP' though.
The intro can be found on the Kidswb.com website. It is in the theater area of the site. It should show a clip of May and Duskull and then the opening. I'll edit this when I get a link.
Did anyone who saw the preveiws in March noticed May's voice changed?
As most of us have already seen this back when they showed both the first and 2nd episode there's not a lot to talk about. Keeping who's that pokemon is annoying and having a johto pokemon is even more annoying couldn't they use a Ru/Saph one? The opening as I said before is what to be expected, tone deaf crap spit up on to the very nice original opening (except ash's little twirl) May's voice is rather crappy they really should have hired a new voice actress, but it well get better with time, at least Misty is gone!A Plus is hearing Seviper's and Cacnea's voices in commercials over the week. If I remember correctly both were satisfactory.
all in all it was a decent start that we have allready seen. 9/10
I thought it was a cool episode. May is a great character and it really helped kick off a new Pokemon series. Nothing much to say except 9/10.

Shall I start with the good and then get to the bad, or vice versa? Let's start with the good.
Each week I am impressed with the animation quality. Compare Pokemon to any other cartoon out there (except maybe Futurama) and all the others look like garbage in terms of animation. Or maybe that's only here in the states. I hear over in Japan they actually care about the quality of their cartoons...oops...anime...and so maybe there are others with great animation. But all I have to go on is what I see, and from where I'm sitting Pokemon is head and shoulders above all the rest.
Now...for the sad part...
Shut that techno-beat, quasi-rap/r&b fusion music off! I AM sorry, but I just can't stand this new song. You know the dubbers don't think to highly of their own show when the new lyrics literally ask you to "give it a chance."
May-be-not... As others have already said, May does not have a great dub voice. But this is not neccesarily the fault of the voice actor (except that she obviously doesn't care that much about doing a good job). Professor Birch, Joshua, and the Sea Captain from last week have all had LAUGHABLE voices. The only auditory thing these dubbers get right are the Pokemon voices.
"We don't even like what we're selling!" What else can The Powers That Be (in this case it may be the Japanese and not the Americans) be saying when this whole new season starts out with our new character talking at length about how much she doesn't like Pokemon! Geez! Did anyone else feel a knife in the heart (or a stab in the back?) when May said she'd give away her Torchic for a cruise ticket? Yeah, yeah, yeah, maybe she'll come to love her Pokemon. But I can't live in the future. All I know is that Misty and (for the moment) Brock were given the boot so that May could come aboard and talk trash about Pokemon.
And along these same lines. What was up with Jessie in this epiosde? I felt this had to have been a dub mis-translation (or censoring) because James and Meowth reacted to her statments of boredom as if she had said something more volatile. I don't know about you, but when my friend says s/he's bored with his/her job, I don't have a panic attack like James and Meowth. And even if she was supposed to be expressing these thoughts, where were they comming from, why now, and why did she suddenly get over them? And what was that whole bit about her knowing Littleroot town? What was the point? It seemed to imply she was from Littleroot, but then didn't go anywhere with it.
And I won't even go into how disapointing it is having a premier epiosde where a main character spends the whole time talking about how bored she is with her function on the show...
While this epiosde wasn't terrible, I just find myself overly upset at the direction this whole "re-tooling" is taking us.
I have no problem with them going to a whole new region, but i do have a problem with them making a whole new show.
I still remember watching the March previews and I think no changes were made, only the additions (like the OP, title screen, et cetera)Originally posted by Rocketboy
Did anyone who saw the preveiws in March noticed May's voice changed?
After watching the episode, I already know how I feel about it since I've watched it. I've been able to get a handle on May's voice more and Veronica Taylor does little to differentiate between Ash and May. Sometimes you hear a bit of both in her voice. I noticed some annoying alliteration and corny dub jokes but nothing out that 4Kids wouldn't do. Also disliked the bad handling of music.
6/10
THe episode aired in US. I would have to say that the intro was awesome, and different. I really liked this episode. But I didn't liked the old Master Quest WTP background, and the episode title background. May's voice was kinda weird, but it'll get better. Torchic was cute, but her legs were big. Treecko's voice could be a lot gentle, but it was okay. I really liked the new, improved animation.
I would rate the episode 9.9/10.
Wow, that was great. ^_^ Me and my friend are watching it again on a super high quality dvd. I'm posting from his house, wee. Anyway, time for my review!
The Good
First off, the opening. I LOVE THAT SONG! second, the title screen, very nifty. Pikachu's attacks looked uber-cool and the digital animation really showed in this ep. May was pretty funny and Mudkip kicked arse! Hmm... that's bout all for now! Kinda distracted having fun.
The Bad
Who's That Pokemon. WTF is up with Lanturn? -_-;;
Rating: 10/10
It's really amazing to read through these topics and see the range of opinions. Like how some people say this is the best dub theme song they've ever done while others have more of your opinion. To me the song was average and had a different feel to the others, not as exciting.Originally posted by Bacl

Now I think this is a bit much. I found Birch to have one of the best recent dub voices and that it fit his character quite well. And aside from sounding a bit too much like Delia, May's voice was fitting and pleasent too, as well as appropriately air-headed (another similarity to Delia). I tell you if Ash had a sister she'd be just like May!May-be-not... As others have already said, May does not have a great dub voice. Now this is really something I didn't expect to hear. I think you've misunderstood. It's called character development and doing new things. We've seen hundreds of episodes of people who love Pokemon, it's a great and innovative idea to add a character who doesn't like them much, especially given who she grew up with and who her parents are."We don't even like what we're selling!" What else can The Powers That Be (in this case it may be the Japanese and not the Americans) be saying when this whole new season starts out with our new character talking at length about how much she doesn't like Pokemon! But I can't live in the future. All I know is that Misty and (for the moment) Brock were given the boot so that May could come aboard and talk trash about Pokemon.
Besides, when May said she didn't like them it's not like she meant she hated them and wanted all Pokemon wiped off the face of the Earth in some holocaust. She just meant she found most to be scary and she had no interest in training or being with them.
May possesses the greatest degree of growth potential in character due to her rather different views on things. She also adds a feminine effect to the show that tomboyish Misty, try as she might, could not really do. Not saying that May is better than Misty, only that she is different in a good way.
Jessie's been pursuing Pikachu and Ash for at least three years now in her world without success. It makes sense that she is bound to get disappointed, reflective and feel like giving up every now and then just like all three of them almost gave up at the end of Kanto. And what was that whole bit about her knowing Littleroot town? What was the point? It seemed to imply she was from Littleroot, but then didn't go anywhere with it.
Really James and Meowth were rather indifferent to what she was saying. The parts where they got confused or surprised were simply because Jessie was thinking philosophically and having doubts about the way their lives have gone and what they've become, thoughts that James and Meowth try to avoid. To them this is life.
James: "Of course Jess. It's what we do. Chase."
May remarked she was bored maybe once in the episode. Actually it was a very exciting day for her. And also, she isn't really a main character in the sense that Ash still holds the major role. Just look at the episode, Ash was in a lot more scenes tha May.And I won't even go into how disapointing it is having a premier epiosde where a main character spends the whole time talking about how bored she is with her function on the show...
Actually, I think Bacl was referring to Jesse with that last comment, not May.
I have to say, I think I was right about my first impression of the girl... and wrong, too. At first, I thought she was ditzy and kind of weak. Well, she's not weak per se... she just doesn't like Pokémon very much, and in that way isn't any weaker than, say, Misty around Bug Pokémon. That's fine. But she's still ditzy... something I guess I could get used to. She's also MUCH more mellow than Misty was; she didn't shout or yell the entire episode to my memory (perhaps the encounter with Duskull, but she merely gasped when Ash went over the cliff as I recall). She also only used the bike thing in a very quiet way, as a subtle guilt tool so as to coerce Ash into coming with her (presumably because she's afraid to be alone just yet?). Not at all blatant like Misty had been.
Well, that's my two cents on May. As for the episode itself... meh, they're all pretty much the same. This one just happens to have all of the "new" Pokémon (we've been playing with them for months, so it's hard to really consider them brand spanking new). In short, I wasn't too dissapointed.
Yes, obviously her character is going to develop. But I can't react to a this episode based on what I've read in the spoilers section. What I saw is a character who is doing what all of us dream, living in the Pokemon world and going to get her first Pokemon. Only she doesn't like Pokemon. And then at the end gets her first, a Pokemon which is adorable and instantly loves her, and she says out loud that she'd trade it for an item on monetary value. There are so many other ways to develop a character. My point was that I found it most discouraging to see our new character dislike Pokemon so much.Originally posted by AKA Pokemon Fan

Actually, I was talking about Jessie. And see remarked quite often that she was bored. Not only has Team Rocket gone through similar feelings before (they've been depressed, bored, and also acknowledged sadly that they are doomed to fail before they even try) but I didn't seem to serve much of an overall point. In additon to this, I was simply disapointed because since this is the big premiere episode I would have loved to see something spectacular. A major TR battle for the dying Pikachu, or a huge event or something other then Jessie saying how boring everything is. Because after she said it for the umpteenth time...I believed her.Originally posted by AKA Pokemon Fan

Yeah, it was good to see this episode after 6 months =) and this time I recorded it, :}
First off, I like the new songits cool
And the episode was intresting...this time I knew more what was going on, hehe
And although, I do not hate May....I still miss Misty.. ._.;
But I suppose I can get used to May...she's just kind of strange in a way..lol
All in all, 8/10![]()
no ending theme
The opening was cool, i got the Mp3 ^_^
I am so happy I got the Mp3 :p
The Epi itself was good, although
the US has seen it before
May and Ash Shipping?

(homeofmew#1337)
I agree with Tina. It's gonna be more shipping.
I don't know why but May seemed to have something with Ash.Did you notice how she hid the flowers? She doesn't want Ash to think that she likes him.Overall I loved the episode.I remembered everything from around March.I seriously think that Pikachu could have bitten Ash harder. :O
I give it 9.7/10
Unfortunately I missed this episode. I slept over at a friends house on halloween night and tried to be back for 12 (late showing of it on digital cable) but my mom heard the adress wrong and came at roughly 12:30, I cursed my bad luck! But, I can always see it on friday after school
.
I can agree though that the beginning theme does rock! I like it the best of all the other ones, and the fact that it isnt very long is also good.
Edit: Tina, gimme that mp3!! Right this minute missy![]()
Tina: MUST HAVE MP3!!!! I love that song soooo much!
Powermudkip: She didn't bring the flowers. ^_^;; She was hiding them behind her back because she nearly knocked them down sneaking into the room.![]()
I could think of better theme songs like Linkin Park's "Papercut", HOWEVER, this is the best english dubbed theme song I've heard, and I wouldn't mind having the Mp3.
