Thanks for the comments, they're very much appreciated.

Raz - I've not ever posted anything in here, or any of my art anywhere, actually, but I draw all the time. I think people must get sick of me sending them images through AIM (sorry Iveechan...lol)

Stellarwind - most of my work is just sketching...I hate shading, and colour is something I tend to apply in my mind, rather than on the paper. I don't think I've got a piece that is anything more than a pencil line...

Anyway, for Squirtle that's the look I was going for - I was trying to move away from the creature-designed-by-man look and go for more of a how-a-creature-would-look-had-it-evolved-separately-from-man's-guiding-hand, if you understand. In this case Squirtle does have weird hindlegs that it could possible use to lumber around on if it leant on its forelimbs, though, so it may be able to move on land...sort of, lol.
And for Charmander's tail flame - same thing, except I sort of imagined that the flame would burn on a thin layer of alcohol or something flammable secreted by the skin, rather than the skin itself burning.

Iveechan - lol, I know it's not a fad, I meant that with Pet Keeper having gained a fair bit of attention, it seems a bit more in focus, but that's not to say that the practice hasn't existed for a while. And I think I like Squirtle the best.

Anyway, I did another page of first stages the other day as well. I'm especially pleased with Pidgey; and I changed Weedle's design so that the animé-nose was actually its head, and the animé-head is its first segment. Yeah.
