    I was considering something today.

As the runner of the Egg Center, I've seen a lot of people buying eggs and I've never done it myself. I thought about getting a random Pokemon, what does anybody think? I could either ask Dan to do the randomising for me, or if you all trusted me, I could do it myself.

Should I get an egg? Thoughts please

Then it's settled! I shall buy a Wonder Egg.

    [sarcasm] I hope I get a Mew! [/sarcasm]

Oh yea there's a new rule. For the next 1 people to buy an egg, you can get a legendary Pokemon out of it.

After one of my matches ends, I want to face you RL, I'll probably lose, but I might as well try, eh?
and I may be back at the egg center if I trade my gastly for a point, I think I'm going to become the normal type master, lol
I love my chansey and kkahn, and if it could be morphed, it would look like this, and be 00ber, thanks to Mew Trainer Rose

Hmm, seeing this list just now made me think of a new question.

You guys think we should have a list of Pokemon in this ASB that are shiny, or otherwise a different colour than they would usually be (but not be shiny)?

If so, I can definitely name three Pokemon of mine that would fit under this, namely Goldix my shiny male Steelix, Blade my crimson male Sceptile and Hydronix my shiny male Squirtle.

    What do you guys think?

Like TML said earlier, it would just spawn nonsensical competition and what-not.

"I'm the first Kadabra user to fight without psychic attacks!"
"Oh yeah? Well, I'm the first person to catch a shiny blue Cubone!"

    So guys, general question here.

For the refs, how much do YOU usually ref a supereffective attack doing damage for? What about a glancing blow of Thunder in the rain?

Default Re: The Chunky Clefable Cafe

Well all my damage calculations run off this dinky little chart:

    DAMAGE CALCULATOR
    Weak - 10-40 = 3%
    Small - 41-60 = 4%
    Medium - 61-80 = 8%
    Strong - 81-110 = 10%
    Very Strong - 111+ = 12%

So based on what damage they do in the game, this is more or less how much damage is taken (energy is the same style, but a lower percentage) give or take certain things like where the attack hits, or if it's been weakened in any way. For Super effective atatcks, I usually add on about 4-5%, again depending on how the attack has hit. Same for Uneffective, I take the amount off. I don't double up for x4 weaknesses though.

I add 2-4% damage for super-effective hits, usually.

And I agree with Razor, I don't count quad-weaknesses (Foretress vs fire or whatnot). Would make it way to easy to kill many dual-type pokemon, as they often have a quad weakness.

In terms of RL's question at the approval tower, its probably becuase Aggron is so versatile -- it has powerful moves of almost every type and its also one of my favorite pokemon. My brother's favorite pokemon too. Althought its stats in the games arent too hot it can finally put its wide movepool to use in ASB. Plus its mega horny.

Speaking of nice move pools, I noticed something today. Sandshrew has a surprisingly impressive and large arsenal of moves. Now Shrewy is my 2nd favorite pokemon (can you guess my favorite? ) But I never realized how many attack he had access to. Granted, they are mostly Normal Ground and Rock.. but there are still some nice little trinkets in there. I will always believe that Sandshrew should be able to learn the Elemental punches, though... I mean seriously.. he has arms! Can you imagine a Sandlsash swinging those sharp claws at you while they're seething with firey energy? Can you say hot butter knife?

Muk is extremely Versatile. Great Movepool and the ability to shrink down and slink around on the ground as liquid. Go muk.

Just out of curiosity, what does everyone usually ref as far as energy cost?

Right now I'm using 8% for very powerful attacks (Fire Blast and the like, 120'ish power), 7% for powerful (Flamethrower and such), 6% for semi-powerful (Flame Wheel), and so on.

I'm noticing that a lot of my battles that I ref seem to rapidly deplete energy, so I'm thinking maybe I'm reffing it a bit high for energy cost.

One more question as well... how do you ref same-type attacks (Squirtle using Water Gun and whatnot). More damage, or a lower energy cost?

Id say Squirtle using water pulse is normal; however a Zangoose using it might tire easier.

I used to ref it depending on what pokemon was using the move, what the arena was, and weather, plus all sorts of variables, if it was hard to perform, like throwing a heavy pokemon, lol, this is why I am not currently a ref, I'm not back into the swing of everything that needs to be factored in.
Teleport, I've found recently, takes a lot more energy than I had thought originally, but I aggree with it completely, even an alakazam would use a good portion to teleport itself...
Uh-oh, I think I just thought of a new combo, like my acid rain... >: )

^ exactly, but I usually ref stuff like Thunder at 10% energy and stuff like thunderbolt at 7-8%.

My costs are the same as yours, Elec.Same-type attacks cost less energy like Chris said, but I don't add more damage, unless it's against a type that is weaker to it. I've found that listing the energy and health costs in a reffing makes it easier to tell whether you're taking off too much energy/damage.

I think my teams getting so big I will get ONE more Pokemon. And I'll evolve all the others. Any ideas what I should get? I've NO IDEA :-/

Meanwhile I nearly have my kanto-starters trio of Blastoise Charizard and Venusaur! I think I need to give my other Pokemon some expirence; Aron, Pikachu, Graveller, Dragonair, Ivysaur to name but a few!

my old team was huge, my current is 5, soon will be 6 when I decide who to get, there's about 10 I can think of wanting right now:
    Smeargle
    Kecleon
    Skarmory
    Koffing
    Nincada
    Eevee
    etc...
what I'm deciding now, is until another match finishes, I have a choice of 1 of 3 big guys I'm loving right now:
    Duskull(thanks Chris)
    Sableye(thanks Emerald)
    Gulpin(Thanks again Emerald)

In my old team, I had 4 more pokemon than I do now. So I'm still behind. I've been thinking of selling/trading Horsea. I wanted a Kingdra originally, but when it comes down to it, I haven't used it yet, mainly because purely aquatic okemon aren't as useful as ones that can go on land. So I've been thinking of maybe a Gyarados, or a Kingler.

Kingler is awesome, pick him. I caught a Goldeen lately, Seaking rocks.

Also Chris I'd go for Pinsir, that way you can Double Battle with Pinser and Heracross. ^^

what you have to do is what I plan on having atleast one of, a mainly water based arena, then pokemon like qwilfish, tentacool, and wingull will be usefull

Hmm Heracross is a better Pinser IMHO. I might get a bird, since I have no actual bird Pokemon (though Anemos, Saurio, Delicaza and Lagarto can fly).

I'm considering a Glalie. And I may trade away Primeape. Another possiblity is a Swalot.

No, dont pick Kingler. I want to catch one soon. I am currently in the middle of a point hiatus, but i've been planning on catching a wide variety of pogeys, many of them water. Deciding who to choose first is difficult.

Despite the new craze, it's possible for more than one person to have the same ASB Pokemon. Try it

I think you should get another Ghost, one that focuses on attacking to complement your defensive Dusclops. So maybe Gengar or Banette.

Im a fan of Banette, they look pretty creepy. But I'm not all that sure. I may get a Hitmon, since I'm planning on saying goodbye to Bruno the Primeape eventually (just gone off the Pokemon...I'm giving him a match against Dark Sage's Ludicolo though).

Yeah, nobody has hitmon for now. Primeape is kewl, are you so bored of him? Also, Banette would be cool, it'd suit your Dusclops fine.

Also, I find it strange that nobody (besides Girafarig who only visited this place for a week) has thought of being a mono-type trainer.
