I like that! I just noticed donators still don't have balls, so maybe we could give them special balls too, like the luxury balls that were proposed.

I like them having a luxury ball- or if that's too girly, the Safari ball. You hafta buy either one, ya know :3

I'm glad you liked that- to think! I can picture them all ready. This is so fun!

It's hard to tell who donated and who didn't. Not everyone is marked as a donator. I donated 10 US dollars for the new server (which was just a little below a third of my salary as a teacher back then).

    So, we have...
    Mods: Great balls
    Smods: Ultra balls
    Donators: Luxury/Safari Balls

As for the numbers, I think 8 for all staff members is enough, especially given the size of these balls. For donators, they should have a lot, but they're not staff, so I say give them 7.

Edit: By donators, I mean those with the green names. If they're staff, that overrides their donator status.

But the ones that are marked green should get balls, that means they donated alot of money or constantly or something, right? ^_^

Gwa, this is so much fun deciding stuff like this!

I don't know what exactly it means, but sure. OK. Is anyone willing to draw the respective pokeballs? You can use the current ones as a base. You may just make one of each in 16×16 and I can easily replicate them. I've done the regular balls and the level balls, but I'm falling behind on my work so I think I should focus a bit more on my teaching job. I don't want the Smalltalk workshop to be a colossal failure, after all.

Dark Sage and Shuppet Master are both donators, but they don't have pokeballs as you can see in that thread.

Maybe it's different with vB and in 2009, but back when I adminned any forums it really just consisted of changing the colour scheme.

If it's now more complicated than that, then I apologise for my ignorance.

EDIT: Also, Kevin should deadmin Chris. He was cool and helpful when he was active, but clearly, he is not now.

Chris is actually somewhat decent at programming from what I remember, or my memory might be somewhat hazy.

    You would be correct.

If Chris were active, or indeed Kevin, it would be nice to have some vB extensions/add-ons and shit. Suzie, from what I know, knows shit all about coding; and Gabi might be able to do some good, but obviously she is extremely busy with her university studies, job and whatnot. It would be nice to have more than one active admin to help her out.

Huh, is it just me or do Mods/Admins have the same rank display now that all users have? Going to Mods' member pages has the Pokéballs and rank over on the right side where us normal members' post-based rank is. Plus, all mods seem to have their Pokéballs now on top of any custom user title they have.

Video Games was Red, Pokemon Anime was Green, Other Anime was Purple, GSC was Yellow/Gold etc. And as for Mt. Moon, well I wouldn't mind a similar layout like the 2004 SPAM forum had - Something Awful style, but perhaps more unique.

Yes, that's what I fixed last night.

You're imagining things. The ranks are below the custom user title.

Heh, I meant "on top of" as the figurative phrase meaning "in addition to." I can see that they're below the custom titles.

In my attempts at making either Great or Ultra balls, I have only met with annoyance because the Pokéballs are not a head-on shot. I'm having trouble putting the yellow lines on the Ultra and the red tabs on the Great. No matter how I do them, it always looks awkward and wrong…

Do you have a small marble or something? I like to create physical models sometimes in order to get a better idea of what it should look like.

I was trying to figure out how to make that work, then I realized what I was doing wrong. Hard to describe, so I'll just show what I have to offer for an Ultra Ball:

Still having trouble with the Great Ball, but that's because it actually has extended tabs that don't fit within the confines of the sphere. I'll be giving it another shot in a minute.

EDIT: Just realized it doesn't have the same shine as the Pokéballs that have already been made…gonna try to fix that too.

EDIT2: Okay, updated the image. *points above*

I see. The left hand line is off on the Ultraball. It looks too 'straight angled' instead of curved. The right hand side of it looks fine, though (aside from the shine that you are fixing).

The thing is, if you look head-on at a Great Ball, the lines go straight, as in there is no curving besides going around the ball. Which means, I actually messed up on the design anyway. >.< Ugh, this is getting frustrating…

EDIT: Of course, one alternative is to use the game's Pokéballs, but (a) they're not the same style and (b) they're 18x18, which would be an entire 16 extra pixels wider for mods.

I know they appear straight, but you know they have to curve.

I think if you tweak it a little more, it will look fine. I'd rather keep size consistency.

I'm at work so excuse the green background, but I edited it a little bit and added a shine.

Just make the background transparent and it should look alright.

    Hallo! It's me again ^^

Just realised how annoying my pink scrawl is... I can't be bothered to resave...

Anything you want changed, sketch wise? Piii-chu!

EDIT: Oh! And my ideas for other sections-
Fanart: Smeargal writing the word "Fanart" with its tail. I'll either find a painty-looking font or attempt it myself... Also had the idea of Jigglypuff with her marker pen. Can put both on there aswell!
Video Games: A pokemon playing some form of games console?
Binary District: Porygon or Porygon2... A Pokemon confused at a computer? Unown binary? XD
Trading Card Game: Pokemons playing TCG. Yes...

Erm, I'll get back to you guys with betterer ideas >_>

How about this? I think it looks more like the ultraballs I've seen on the web. (Edited from RSW's version.)

It looks rather odd with the spire-like appearance. I don't think it really looks good (imo).

    Spire?

Sorry, I don't see the connection, but that may be because English is not my native language. What kind of spire are you referring to?

RSW's looks too pointed IMO. The middle stripe should be flat on top. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wi...ok.C3.A9_Balls

    OK, I like this one.

Who would have thought a pokeball would give us so much trouble?

Yeah. Sorry for the double posts. I'm on my work computer, so I can't really create all these files and had to use the same filename.

    Double posts? Where?

I guess I can give Zan and Andrew that last one, then.

So what do we need now? Great Balls and... Luxury Balls?

All I can say is…luck with the Great Balls. They have the two little tabs on either side, so they're not just simple spheres/circles. Luxury Balls should be easier, in fact I'll try taking a swing at them when I get a moment.
