When I reffed, I always used base damage to calculate from, though I altered it to suit the situation and etc. It was a pain having to check out each attack's base though, and the same for accuracy. It always meant that I'd have a pile of windows open, which annoys me for some reason.

In short, I like the idea of having the bases for attack and accuracy (if you like) to be on here with the attack descriptions. It makes it handier for those who actually use them, and for those who don't, then fine, just don't use em, lol.

I more or less use bases (though some I alter), but I'm such a nerd that I pretty much have every attack memorized :p

I think a base damage (no SE or NVE, because people do that differently... some double as in the games, some just add a smaller percent) should be included, if nothing else than as a starting point for those new to ASB, and as a general "gauge" of how an attack compares to others.

Base accuracy... eh, I don't know. I guess that should be included too, but far as I'm concerned all ASB attacks are more or less 100% accurate in many situations. I mean, looking back at the anime (granted I haven't watched it for a couple years, but I watched the first 3 seasons), you'll pretty much never see an attack just outright miss. Only when the opposing pokemon makes an attempt to dodge. I suppose the accuracy could judge how easy it is to dodge rather than just accuracy period, though.

Default Nature Power and Secret Power

Looking at attack list descriptions I see many of the RSE attacks are outdated, because I presume the list was compiled before the release of RS in the US. While it's been a fantastic asset in ASB I think now we can tweak it to better suit how the attacks really work.

    Nature Power and Secret Power seem good candidates for modification;

Secret Power (NO) – The user sends a beam of normal energy which hits for good damage. The energy is laced with a random status effect powder, which has a decent chance of either making the opponent drowsy, poisoning them or confusing them.
Nature Power (Various) – The user performs a move that would be helped out by the arena, with a slight boost in power. The exact attack is up to the referee, but it must be in the user’s moveset. If the arena is a sandy one, perhaps Sandstorm; in a mountain area, Rock Slide, etc.

Can someone help with the ingame differences? I'm not sure what the difference is between the attacks....

Nature's power forms into different attacks depending on the environment.

Plain - Tri Attack, Cave - Shadow Ball, Rocky - Rock Slide, Sand - Earthquake, Tall Grass - Stun Spore, Very Tall Grass (gah, hated that stuff) - Razor Leaf, Water - Surf.

Plain used to be Swift, but Tri Attack is so much better with Gen IV. ^_^ So, it really crafts it into a different attack with different accuracy and damage based on what it turns into.

Secret Power is a set damage-dealing attack, where the environment is what shapes the added effects that could go with the attack. That's how I interpret and believe it goes, anyways.

Oh it's tri attack in D/P? Awesome In FR I've noticed Secret Power looks like Needle arm so I thought it was 'becoming' that attack. So are you saying its always the SAME power/damage/accuracy, but a status effect can be tacked on depending where you are?

Yeah. Accuracy is 70% and damage is about 20 or so.

What, Secret Power? It's accuracy 100, not 70, power 70, not 20, and I believe a 20% chance of inflicting status.

Unless I'm really misunderstanding you. o_0

...Secret Power's got base 70 damage and 100% accuracy no matter what... (EDIT: Whoops, TBA beat me to it. But it's 30%, not 20%.)

Hm. I still think it's a good idea for the attacks to vary based on terrain. The problem with doing that in ASB is that battlefields vary so greatly, it'd be hard to define a lot of them. I think it would be best to provide a general list, and the ref would decide what's best for the situation.

    Short Grass: Stun Spore/causes confusion
    Tall Grass: Razor Leaf/causes flinching
    Open Water: Surf/reduces attack

...And whatever else you choose to define. When one of those moves is used in battle, the ref looks at the list and decides what's most appropriate given the arena (and possibly where the user is standing when using the attack; for example, if it's a predominately grassy field with a river running through it and the user is in the river, the ref can decide to go with Bubblebeam or whatever instead of Stun Spore).

I also think it would be kinda cool if the battlers could define Secret/Nature Power for themselves when choosing the arena. So, for example, if the person creating the challenge has the battle happening in a marshmallow castle floating in the atmosphere over the jungle planet Graw or whatever other oddities they can come up with, he or she can also say "Secret Power reduces the opponent's attack by two levels; Nature Power becomes Meteor Mash" or whatever.
