    TEAM RAZOR LEAF'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Crush Quarry
A dangerous quarry home to Rock and Ground types. Footing is loose, and there's always work being done. A few Fighting types and some rare Steel types also make their homes here. Within the mining tunnles you may find a few rare passages...

    ‡ Round 56 ‡

Hanzo and Tesla return to their Pokeballs as you consult Barnabas's map. The map plots the locations of various types of fossils:

Old Amber, Helix and Dome Fossils are down the far-left path.

Root and Claw Fossils are down the center-left path.

Skull and Armour Fossils are down the center-right path.

Plume and Cover Fossils are down the far-right path.

    How do you proceed?

Sabaku, use a gentle gust to keep the smoke away, but be sure to make sure it doesn't spread the flames. Rhode, Brenton, I don't like to hurt you but can you take turns keeping the flames contained with Protect? We could use this as a bargaining token.

Now, what did you trap my friends for? We did nothing wrong, it's just plain rude to trap Pokemon in a web like that. Keep in mind that if you don't tell the truth, and quickly, we have to power to let down the Protective barrier and let the entire building burn.

    CYNDER'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Dysfunctionland!
A dilapidated series of amusement park rides and buildings. Who knows what you might find underneath these dusty tents and behind closed doors…

    ‡ Round 81 ‡

Sabaku begins Gusting the smoke away, but since there's nowhere for it to go it merely circulates the room. Brenton and Rhode use their Protective abilities to keep the flames contained within the room, though it's proving to be difficult. Though all of your Pokemon resist Fire, the heat and smoke nonetheless seem to be getting to them... Ernesta and Elmira especially.

"I'm not loving this plan," Ernesta moans wearily as she struggles to breathe.

"Oh, quit your complaining," Elmira says, though it's clear she's suffering every bit as much.

"This house is on fire!" Ernesta bellows. "My complaints are vindicated!"

Meanwhile, you question the three Pokemon.

"For years they've been trying to fix up Dysfunctionland so they could open it to the public," Persian snaps. "The haunted manor is our home, though, and we won't stand for a bunch of candy-bloated idiot kids frolicking in it day after day."

"So we kidnapped Big Ol' Barry when he tried to effect repairs," Gothita adds.

"And then we did the same to your Pokemon when it looked like you were here to save him," Sentret finishes.

"Er... 'scuse me?" Big Ol' Barry says to you, interrupting the conversation. "I don't mean to be rude, especially on account of how you saved me and stuff, but I don't think now is the time to--"

Suddenly, with a loud crunch, the floor beneath Rhode gives way and he falls to the level below. A number of cinders tumble down with him, igniting the floor down there. Meanwhile, with Rhode's Protect out of commission, hot flames snake out into the hallway.

The smoke seems to be getting to Ernesta, too: she passes out.

    How do you proceed?

It's a Root Fossil I'm after, so plants seem the best option.

Ouch, okay, not good. Sabaku, Brenton, put out the flames as best you can with mud slaps! Rhodes, if you can hear me down there, use a combination of Mud Slap and Aqua Tail to put out the fire as quickly as you can! If you'd be willing to help us out to put out the fire, Persian use Icy wind as the ice will melt and make water, Sentret use a gentle surf so you don't break anything more, and Gothita control the flames with Psychic.

I'll try and move Ernesta out of the way since I can't offer much at this point, and I'd recommend Elmira comes with me to help wake her.

A dilapidated series of amusement park rides and buildings. Who knows what you might find underneath these dusty tents and behind closed doors…

    ‡ Round 82 ‡

You and your Pokemon get to work on putting out the fire. Mud and water are flung in every direction and even Persian, Gothita and Sentret help out as you attempt to quell the fire. You and Elmira move Ernesta out of the way, though Elmira kind of looks as though she wouldn't mind if her sister would die in a massive structure fire.

After a few minutes, you eventually out the inferno. You peek through the hole in the floor and see that Rhode has successful dealt with the downstairs fire as well.

"Thanks," Persian says, wiping his brow. "You saved our home even though you didn't need to. We're so sorry for all the havoc we caused. We didn't mean to act remiss, Big Ol' Barry."

"Listen, if you didn't want us to go tinkerin' around in here, you shoulda just said something," Barry says. "We'll leave you be from hereon out. That alright with you?"

    The three Pokemon nod vigorously.

"Steve and Salvador are going to pay for putting us through all this," Ernesta mutters as she awakens.

Ah, that's good! Glad to see you've worked this out.

Big Ol' Barry, do you happen to know about a black stone? Not just any black stone, but one that looks a little bit like a bowling ball and has a link to a legendary Pokemon.

Big Ol' Barry reaches out and hands you... something that is not a Dark Stone. It's a row of three bright orange carnival tickets.

"Each ticket lets you to play one of mah games," Big Ol' Barry explains. "If y'all can win one of 'em, I'll let you have the stone you want. Now follow me to mah tent"

Hmm. I'll have a quick poke around to see if there's anything else lying about. If not, then I'll retrace my steps using the map and head out.

Before i get right back out of the tunnel, I'll release Hanzo and Tesla, in case there are any nasty surpises waiting for me (like that bitch Mawile)

Alright let's go to his hut, since it's clearly the only way I'll get the black stone. But, before I start I'd at least like to see the stone or have some kind of insurance that he has it.

    Dysfunctionland!
A dilapidated series of amusement park rides and buildings. Who knows what you might find underneath these dusty tents and behind closed doors…

    ‡ Round 84 ‡

You leave the haunted house and the smell of burning wood behind and step out into the fresh(ish) air of Dysfunctionland. Wynaut is waiting for you.

"You saved him!" he shouts, bouncing around. "You saved him, you saved him, you saved him!"

Big Ol' Barry leads you to his orange tent. You step inside and see a variety of carnival games, most looking dusty and busted. Big Ol' Barry leers at you.

"Three games, three chances, and y'all only need to win one," Big Ol' Barry explains. "Your choice of Guess the Weight, Water Gun Fun and Heavy Ball Toss. You choose what y'all wanna play first. And, o' course, if you can win... you get a prize!"

He directs you to a shelf behind you where various knickknacks are sitting.

    CYNDER'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Dysfunctionland!
A dilapidated series of amusement park rides and buildings. Who knows what you might find underneath these dusty tents and behind closed doors…

    ‡ Round 85 ‡

You decide to start with a little bit of Water Gun Fun.

"Good choice," Big Ol' Barry says.

He directs you to the Water Gun Fun station. Against a large, upright board you see with a plastic Magikarp and Feebas. Their mouths are open wide.

Big Ol' Barry then hands you your water pistol, which is actually a tiny rubber Horsea attached to a long hose that supplies the water. Big Ol' Barry appears to be holding another one, which is shaped like a Luvdisc.

"You'll be competin' 'gainst me," Big Ol' Barry says. "When the bell sounds, water'll start shootin' from Horsea's mouth and you'll hafta shoot it in Magikarp's mouth. I'll do the same with my Luvdisc and Feebas. The first to max out our fish's water meter wins. Geddit? Also, there's a pressure gauge... more pressure, the faster yer fish'll fill up, but the harder it'll be to aim. Got it? 'Kay, then... go!"

A bell sounds and water starts spraying from Horsea's mouth. It's currently set to the lowest pressure setting: Pressure Level 1.

    How do you proceed?

    Dysfunctionland!
A dilapidated series of amusement park rides and buildings. Who knows what you might find underneath these dusty tents and behind closed doors…

    ‡ Round 86 ‡

You take the middle route and fire at Pressure Level 3. It allows you to hit Magikarp's mouth with only a little bit of difficulty and the water seems to be firing with... terrible pressure. Your shots are barely making Magikarp's mouth. You're not entirely sure what's up, since Big Ol' Barry also seems to be firing his Luvdisc at Pressure Level 3 and his stream looks highly pressurized.

"Psst," Wynaut says. "Your hose... it's, um..."

You look down and see that your hose is tangled horribly, impeding the pressure.

    How do you proceed?

    ‡ Round 87 ‡

Brenton, who proves to be shockingly good at untying knots, makes quick work of the hose. You wonder how it could have become tangled to begin with, but you keep your focus on the task at hand: Water Gunning Magikarp. However, even though your hose has been untangled, the pressure is barely any better.

"The hose has been cut," Wynaut whispers.

It's true. A small gash in the hose appears to be causing water to leak everywhere. Big Ol' Barry merely chuckles.

    He's almost won.

"I think he might have sabotaged us," Elmira whispers to you.

    How do you proceed?

Oho, he's not the only one that can play foul. Ernesta, can you cover the hole with a swift String Shot? In the meantime, Brenton, use a subtle Extrasensory attack to make Barry redirect the stream of water away from the Feebas and into the Magikarp's mouth instead.

I've had enough of digging, crawling and wheezing. My shoes are looking pretty dire after a mix of terrace, snow and rock. Let's take the shovel back to Deb and get our Great Ball back. Hanzo, you hold on to the shovel, use any means necessary to keep it safe (that means Psychic the shit out of anything that tries to get it).

    CYNDER'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Dysfunctionland!
A dilapidated series of amusement park rides and buildings. Who knows what you might find underneath these dusty tents and behind closed doors…

    ‡ Round 88 ‡

You show Big Ol' Barry that he's not the only one with a devious streak. Ernesta patches the hole in the hose while Brenton uses his Extransensory capabilities to tip the scales in your favour. However, when Big Ol' Barry realizes what's going on, he turns around and strikes Brenton with a Fake Out. Cheap shot! He then sets his Luvdisc water pistol to its highest pressure setting and finishes off his Feebas with one quick spurt of water.

"Hah!" he belts as his Feebas's eyes light up. "Done! So what game will it be next, then?"

    How do you proceed?

    > Play Heavy Ball Toss
    > Call out Big Ol' Barry's big ol' BS
    > Steal his Dark Stone

    TEAM RAZOR LEAF'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Crush Quarry
A dangerous quarry home to Rock and Ground types. Footing is loose, and there's always work being done. A few Fighting types and some rare Steel types also make their homes here. Within the mining tunnles you may find a few rare passages...

    ‡ Round 61 ‡

You hand the shovel over to Hanzo to keep it in prime condition. You then weave your way through the complex labyrinth of tunnels until you step out into the sunlit Quarry once more. Ah! You and your Pokemon make your way back to Deb's Shovel Emporium. You hand over the shovel to Deb who's looking just as grumpy as the last time you met her.

"First I need to examine it to make sure it's in prime condition. Give me a second," she says as she ducks beneath the kiosk's counter. You then hear the unmistakable noise of metal Crunching against metal. She then pops back up with an awful grin on her face. "Yeah, sorry, this is dented. You're not getting your collateral back."

She then shows you a series of dents in the shovel's metal end that strongly resemble... Mawile teeth.

    How do you proceed?

Funny, because it wasn't dented until I handed it over to you. And those dents look awfully like you just bit it, when you hid under the counter for a second. You might get away with this scam with the other chumps that come by here, but not with me sister. If you want to play dirty, then we'll play dirty. Hanzo, Swords Dance and Calm Mind. Tesla, Charge and Howl. Deb, you give me back my collateral, or we tear this place apart. A dented shovel will be the least of your worries.

Big Ol' Barry hands you three Heavy Balls, which actually softballs painted over with designs.

"Knock the top two rows of Crustles off this here stack and y'all win," Big Ol' Barry says. "Simple as that. You got three shots."

The Crustles, you are pleased to note, are merely replicas. Phew. No cruelty here.

Fortunately for you, Deb is easily intimidated. She gets one look of your Pokemon honing their battle skills and folds.

"Fine!" she snaps. "Take it! I don't want it anymore! Now please just leave!"

She then thrusts your Great Ball into your clutches. Whoo.

Since you're a Pokemon trainer, your pitching skills are naturally beyond compare. You toss the Heavy Ball at the lower-right Crustle with as much strength as you can muster. The ball thwacks loudly against the Crustle and merely bounces right off.

"Two shots left," Big Ol' Barry says.

Your Pokemon look at one another in confusion. That hit was really strong. How could it have done nothing?

Hah, got this idea from Despicable Me. Rhode, you take one of the balls and fire it from the plam of your hand to try and knock over the pile (aim for the same spot as I did). If that doesn't work, use Rock Blast. If that doesn't knock them over, nothing will.

    ‡ Round 91 ‡

Rhode takes the next shot for you and fires the Heavy Ball at the stack of Crustles. The ball hits with an even harder thwack but ultimately does nothing. Letting out a frustrated grunt, Rhode then begins pitching rock after rock at the stack with alarming speed and strength.

Suddenly, the entire stack tips over and falls to the ground but the Crustles remain stuck to one another. It's only now that you realize they've been glued together this whole time.

"The top two rows are still attached to the bottom row, so I reckon y'all haven't won yet," Big Ol' Barry says with a shit-eating grin. "One throw left."

Lets leave this place, I don't think I want to stick around any longer. Now that we have our fossil, we need to revive it. Anyone have any ideas? I'll check the map and see what if it has any information.

Time to depart! Your Pokemon, however, aren't entirely sure where you need to take the fossil. You consult the map and see that Barnabas has written a parenthetical note in the bottom corner.

Alright then, Rhode, he asked for it. Completely obliterate those Crustles with a Rock Wrecker!

With a powerful Rock Wrecker, Rhode unleashes a recking ball of Rock-type goodness upon the stack of Crustles. They burst into a thousand tiny fragments. Big Ol' Barry looks on in shock.

"You destroyed mah Crustles!" he roars suddenly. "Geddout! Out of my tent! Out of Dysfunctionland! Leave!"

You've been playing dirty the entire time Barry, even after we saved your life from a dysfunctional group of Pokemon and agreed to be complacent and play your game even when you were obviously cheating... And I won't have it any more. I'm leaving, and taking that black stone with me, whether you like it or not. We won that last game, using tactics just as low as you did. All's fair in love and war!
