*Round Nine Begins*
A change of Ref, a change of music, and a change of pace.
Devros initiates the change of pace by sitting down thankfully in the short grass, closing his eyes and taking deep, restorative breaths. With his eyes closed, he can't see Kusari rise from her sitting position, wobbling about like a drunk thing as she tries to focus her mind and body - that's what her trainer said, right? But she can't quite be sure, as her mind feels like mush; up seems down, and up seems... up. Does that make sense?
She falls back on the ground, dazed. Something inside tells her that trying to use a move that requires a heckuva lot of focus whilst having a less-than-focused brain is just something that just doesn't work, so she settles with relaxing.
Devros continues his meditative state, savoring the quiet atmosphere that has not been really present throughout this battle. Kusari, however, has different plans in mind. Her head is a bit clearer now, though still rather swimmy, not to mention her movements are rather uncoordinated. (Her paralysis does not help in that respect) It takes her ages to put one foot in front of the other while trying to gather up the energy for a Focus Punch.
Of course, Devros is stuck plopped on the ground, humming a little ditty to himself as Kusari continues to stalk forward, her fist glowing with concentrated energy -- though rather subdued thanks to her less mentally-alert state.
Finally, she comes within thwacking range, and she raises her fist, wincing as her muscles stiffen up a bit, protesting at the amount of movement she's doing. Frustration surges through Kursari's body, finally forcing her fist forward, soundly cuffing Devros on the chin and knocking him over like a tumbleweed.
Jaw hurting, though obviously not as hurt as he technically
should be thanks to a few status factors, Devros' eyes flutter open as he vaguely wonders what just socked him while he was in psuedo-dreamland. He spots Kusari just in front of him, just sitting there like some kind of tree, staring at him. Devros' blinks for a few moments before leaping onto his feet, new energy and life pumping through his fatiqued limbs. Grinning widly, the Breloom leaps back, his tail acting like an elastic spring as he shoots forward, fists raised and ready to deliver a crushing blow -
-His fists make contact with Kusari's head, noticing the strange brown aura covering her. The attack is a crushing one, and Kusari cries out at the strike, moving to counter it, black dots obscuring her vision as her fist sends the attack force rebounding back at the Breloom with double the power. A surprised yip flies out of the Breloom's surprised maw as he's thrown back to where he came from.
Head over heels the mushroom-head topples, finally landing in a rather awkward position on the field, staring wildly at Kusari, who's grinning in an awfully odd and very much disturbing way. Devros vaguely wonders if he knocked her off her rocker. She totters, and suddenly collapses, blacked out, though it takes a few seconds for the winded Breloom to realize that he had triumphed.
He
did knock her off her rocker.

*Other Remarks*
- Elec Man moves on to the final round
- I get nothing but the satisfaction of finishing something. Yay!
-Paralysis + Confusion lessened Focus Punch's effectiveness
-Counter apparently does require a bit of movement. Thanks, Chris!
