Bloomshine Contest Round IV
Super Appeal Time
Note: After this round, the top TWO will move on to the final!
#1: Houndoom Lover
Mephy: Double Team~Smog~Faint Attack~Fire Spin
Without further ado I bring to you Round IV! Mephy takes center stage, being the starting Pokemon once more. Freezing his pose as if he spotted a bird directly above him, his body trembles, and seven dark clones all appear clockwise around him. When they are all fully formed, Mephy seems to spit out the remnants of clone forming through his mouth, a thick Smog henging in the air - blotting out the falls.
The folks watch as this appeal takes shape, literally. The clones fly into action, shooting up. Two speed along the sides of it before fading out of existance, giving it an oval outline. The next two fly into the Smog and barely make it out, creating indents that could be seen as eyes. One clone does some weird haphazard dive, but succeeds in forming what I guess to be flared nostrils.. and the last two fluy horizontally and disspate into each other, creating a mouth! Maphy, pleased with the work, finds the energy to halfheartedly lunge through the mouth of the smokedkull, before erupting his body into flames. Before he could land though, the Flames catch the Smog, and the whole Skull lights up in a fiery cackle.
Heh, looks like Mephy was spat out of its mouth. Maphy lands on the edge of the platform, barely. The crowd cheer that fiery appeal, and the pup pants while walking off stage.
#2: Crazy Elf Boy
Kimberlly: Reflect~Fire Blast~Ancient Power~Whirlwind
As such, Kimberlly flies in carefully as we get some Air Rotms to blow the smoke into the falls and cool everyone down. When everyone is ready, Kimberlly takes her lofty place over the pool of water, and a translucent Reflective shield domes around her-touching the water. Spinning in the dome, Fires begin to be seen, before suddenly they Blast all about. Everyone leans back, half expecting the powerfuil Balst to go through. but it doesnt. It stays put, swirling about ih the dome. As the Fire seems to incinerate with reckless abandon, rocks can be seen flying free of the dome. For them to survive unscathed means they had to have some sort of Ancient Power attributed to them. However, the holes now allowed the audience to see the fire be funneled out the holes, as well as water be funneled up to quell them. A Whirlwind could be seen, but with teh water was now turning into a Twister. In any event, the fire was drained and the shiled shattered finally, leaving Kimberly with wings outstretched-mimicking the birth of the Phoenix. Everyone claps and Kim flies off...
#3: Mew Master
Ryuujin: Dragon Dance~Draco Meteor~Detect~Hyper Beam
Well with two fiery appeals, how can we go wrong, right folks?!?! Ryuujin comes out next, and flies straight to the waterfall, disappearing behind it. Almost as fast as it flew in, it flies back out and winds about, gaining a sort of raw power, a sheen to his bulk. As the DAnce in the sky ends, the audience watches as Ryuujin seems to spot something comimng from the heavens. They start off as twinkles, before the shooting stars come into view. They get larger and the Audience stares with wide eyed wonder. A Meteor storm was coming, right for them.
Ryuujin stretched out fully in the sky and seemed to line itself up with their epicenter, his body glowing until it reached a hot white. As the Draconic Meteor shower camew within range, a massive Hyper Beam was unleased from the outstretched sperpent. Its berth was more than massive enough to engulf the incoming and eradicate them, sending them far far over the waterfall. The crowd cheered for their savior, as Ryuujin merely left the stage.
#4: Green Lanturn
Fury Swipes~Rock Tomb~Substitute~Dig
Lil ol Dynamo is next, and he already gets a few oohs from the crowd. But with three high energy appeals to follow up, can he keep the momentum going? Sure looks like it as he digs into the platform, creating a shallow hole of sorts. Furiously Swiping the ground, you'd think he was digging for treasure. Happy with his hole, he then decorated with some Rocks from the ocean floor, levitated up of course.
Then he jumped in the water and swam toward the falls! Instalty he was dragged under, and well, we just could watch and wait. It was only a minute of suspence though as we suddenly see Dynamo be flung forth from the little well he dug! The lil ghost however flew up with the first burst of water, and hit the pool surface, sinking and then bobbing back to the surface! Suddenly on the platfiom, the real Dynamio climbs back out, breathing hard. Looks like he dug a little channel there!
The audience applauds, adn note the uise of Substiturte to mimic him flying out the hole and laugh a bit.
#5: Roses are Red
Calypso: Dive~Light Screen~Waterfall~Icy Wind
At slot number five is Roses, with Calypso. The powerful fish immediately Dives in the water, creating amazingly little splash back as it powers to the falls. A Light Screen is set up in front of the falls as she then begins to power up it. Her fins worked furiously to propel her skyward and once she reaches the top, she lunges free, flailing in the sky. The winds pick up on her struggles and blow her a Icy reminder to relax in their dominion. The Ice particles however twinkles off her and off the sky, making for a serene scene.
As she falls, she hits the Light Screen, and makes it shatter into energy as she herself disappears in the waves. Everyone approves and Calypso swims away with applause under her fins.
#6: Ultimate Charizard
Staryu: Surf~Swift~Ice Beam~Thunder
Halfway completed and we've already seen a wide gamut of talent. But Staryu is out now, and it doesn't look like a slouch either. Immediatly after floating out ot the Audience, Staryu commands a huge wave to rise up and wash out over it! As the wave bears down on the poor starfish, a volley fo starts fly into the behemoth of water. Almost immeditaly before the water crashes into Staryu, an Ice Beam rips through it, following afte the Stars. The water hits and Staryu still floats, unharmed, but the Stars are visibly connected through along snaking ice trail made from the Ice Beam and the water it flew through!
This structure begins to fall though, and just then a Blast of Thunder erupts from the heavens and demolishes the frozen structure. People cheer for the powerful ending, as Staryu zooms away.
#7: Rossymore
Smokescreen~Double Team~Protect~Double-Edge
Following that appeal is Magmarashi. He takes a moment, gathering up how this is going to work. Smoke then envelops him, obscuring him from view. The audience watches with eager eyes, and they are not disappointed. 5 clones are shot to the sky, followed by the true Mag itself. Each clone seems to know where to land, and the 6 of them all dive down toward the water-staggered. Each hit the water, but are protected by what seems to be a Protective barrier on all of them. As they all hit, they ride their barrier over to shore. Mag is the last to hit and Slams into the Protective barrier kind of hard, creating a moment where he is completly enveloped underwater. He bobs back up just as fast though and speeds to shore, complete;y dry. The audience claps, and Mag runs off.
#8: Meloveghosts
Nisashi: Substitiute~Quick Attack+Night Slash~Flash Cannon
The crowd seems a bit subdued, as Nisashi takes center stage. Clamping its claws together, Nisashi is quick to pivot on his left leg and wham, a exact replica appears on his right. The Substitute is then carried over to teh waterfall, and dropped! People watch as the Sub slams into the water, barely holding together. Nisashi then dives after it, so fast that all people truly see is a Crimson Arc smashng it into pieces with dark energy steaming out of the water.
Winning the war with its doppleganger, Nisashi illuminates the battlefied by firing a Flash Cannon into the sky, acting as a beacon for all to see. Sub chunks float to shore, and the audience claps.
#9: Dragonis
Drucilla: Double Team~Twister~Rock Tomb~Giga Impact
In a twist, no one runs out for the next set. Instead, our floodlights focus on the water. At first, nothing, then the audience makes out a dark shape swimming around. One solitary fin pops up and the audience leans in intrigued at this shark that seems to be swimming about. Soon, the main fin sinks....but a new fin speeds up its course around the lake, and 4 more fins emerge with it. It looks like a feeding frenzy tonight. They all stop and seem to be circling around something though.
The sharks all then speed up incredibly fast around this one area and they all start to form an inverted Twister in the water. The Whirlpool begins to open up wide, large enough for the audience to see an ancient Tomb buried underneath the lake. The mystery of what it is doing there soon shatters, as Drucilla Bashes forth, flying toward the open sky-free from her imprisonment! The crowd is taken back by the surprise and applauds, as the water washes back over the anceint relic.
#10: Chris 2.1
Tux: Mist~Growl~Steel Wing~Hydro Cannon
Tux comes out and greets everyone whom wave at the portly penguin. Oddly enough, he sits down on the platform, and flaps his wings rhythmically. A soft Mist begins to envelops the portion of the lake between him and the audience. As we watch, Tux growls low, as if to set a baseline. Then, one wing hits the platform, creating a dullchord that seems to intrigue us. He does it again, over and over and all of a sudden, teh sound begins to grew. Not from Tux, but from everyone in the audience, who begins to clap or slap their thigh in time with the drum beats Tux is making. All of a sudden-Tux stops-and the water gushes up into a twisted spire! Everyone leans back, watchng as teh Pumping water keeps its tendrilic shape, and they scheer, feeling they all helped with the conjuring of the water spirit!
The crowd claps for that last appeal, and Tribal Tux waddles out.
~~Scores~~
#1) Houndoom Lover
Score: 8.7/10
Fourth round starter, and this one was EXPLOSIVE! Alot of thought went into this one and even though Mephy was fatigued, he pulled it off very well. Congratulations!
#2) Crazy Elf Boy
Score: 8.7/10
Talk about a followup! It had power, it had intrigue, but it seemed to be slightly disjointed. Still a strong appeal and a viable effort from Kimberlly.
#3) Mew Master
Score: 9.0/10
Man! You really kept up the high energy. Powerful attacks, Powerful emotions of protection, detection and elimination! Everyone also appreciates not being railed by meteors though, so I'm glad you did it wothing reason.
#4) Green Lanturn
Score: 8.2/10
I think I knew what you were trying to do, but it was a very difficult scenario. Still. Dynamo was able to execute it well. It's just, there seemed to be less flair even though you had more moves. The substitute was a nice goofy touch, and that helped add personality to it.
#5) Roses are Red
Score: 8.5/10
Didn't think Feebas's could be graceful. But Calypso proved me wrong. It seemed like a sub-par appeal, until she powered up that waterfall..and burst out. almost like a salmon making it to the breeding ground. and then failing epically at the last jump. But Calypso didn't fail her.e It was a great manuvear, and the shattering Light Screen was an added bonus. Great job.
#6) Ultimate Charizard
Score: 8.9/10
I think you saw this coming UC. It was a great idea, show ones mastery over the elements. You held it all together. It even had a bright and flashy finish, but I appreciated the ability to be able to control each one of your moves enough so they worked without overpowering each other. Great job there.
#7) Rossymore
Score: 8.2/10
Kinda went south for you here man. It was a nifty idea, a multi collision with the water ane then they all boogie board back up. It was simple, but it didn't really accentuate any traits. In truth I felt like the Protect-Double Edge part made Mag look like a hamster in a bubble. Still, it wasn't a completely ugly appeal.
#8) Meloveghosts
Score: 8.3/10
Well ok. Here's what I did like. It showed Scizor's attack prowess. It showed his ability to utilize speed in all sorts of dilemmas. It was able to show Scizor in a "new light" not only as a predator, but also as a victor.
But it seemed staged-and I know that this is a contest and all, but it just seemed like Nisashi was attacking a target, like as if you were doing target practice. There didnt seem to be much life to the appeal as a whole, no special touch.
#9) Dragonis
Score: 8.6/10
Not gonna lie. I was gonna count you out. And then you pull this. The beginning had me iffy, we all seen sharks hunt before, But the uncovering and extraction of Dru from the Tomb was exhilarating and beautiful. It all seemed to swim together very harmoniously.
#10) Chris 2.1
Score: 9.1/10
I like the appeal. The crowd liked the appeal, hell they liked HELPING with the appeal. It was a totally new concept off of something so simple! I liked how Nessie was portrayed too, as a water spire. All in all a very well executed appeal
