As the next round begins, Sterling flies in circles above the Clefairy balloon and commands a massive load of rocks to materialize out of nowhere. They come tumbling down from the heavens and pin poor Murkrow to the balloon, squishing him mercilessly. Fortunately, he’s a resilient little bugger and wiggles free before taking flight once more. His dark feathers soon bristle with electric discharge as he unleashes a Thunder Wave upon her foe. Sparks sizzle around the Skarmory. Uh-oh.

Sterling: <-7 EP; Par>
Murkrow: <-14 HP; -3 EP>

Sterling soars forward and tries to nail Murkrow with one of his weighty wings, but Paralysis takes hold and he locks up mid-flight. As Sterling tumbles downward to the Clefairy balloon, Murkrow swoops in and clips the steel birdie with a weak aerial slash. Suck it!

Sterling: <-2 HP; Can’t move!>

Suddenly, before our fighters can break out their next moves, the Clefairy balloon begins losing altitude! Of course, as they’re both flyers, neither one is particularly anxious though they decide to scope out a new balloon nonetheless. The candidate, they decide, is a chubby orange balloon with squishy electric bolts stemming from its sides. Ooh! Sterling and Murkrow circle above the Rotom’s head, eyeing one another readily.

Now that our two battlers have had an opportunity to get accustomed to the new balloon, it’s game on. Sterling starts by shrieking skyward, causing great swirls of sand to come tumbling forth. As the grits work away at poor Murkrow, he releases a gust of burning wind that successfully deals a fair bit of damage to the big armoured birdie. Huzzah!

Murkrow: <-8 EP>

All of a sudden, Sterling starts barking some nasty insults at Murkrow, who begins feeling awfully Tormented. He tries to go in for a second Heat Wave, but he’s just too gosh-darn mad to succeed.

Sterling: <-4 EP>
Murkrow: <Can’t move!; Tmt>

Then, as Sterling tries to unleash his next attack at his dark-feathered foe, his muscles lock up and he finds himself incapacitated. Balls. In return, Murkrow swoops in for a spot-on Aerial Ace, but Sterling’s Steel typing keeps the attack from doing more than the most minimal damage imaginable.

The sand begins tearing away at Murkrow <-3 HP>.

As the next round begins, Murkrow fires off a Dark Pulse of energy Sterling’s way. Fortunately for the Skarmory, his Steely exterior blocks out a good chunk of the damage and, even with his compromised Special Defence, he’s still ready to kick a little ‘krow behind. Sterling begins arcing and spinning through the air, upping his drive to fight. Uh-oh.

Sterling: <-3 HP; -4 EP; +2 Att>
Murkrow: <-4 EP>

Glowing red, Murkrow begins wielding a bevy of Psychic energy and tries to unleash it at Sterling. He succeeds at causing the armoured bird to start boxing himself with his wings but, once more, the typing is just not in Murkrow’s favour. In retaliation, Sterling commands a truckload of rocks to descend from the sky and pin Murkrow to the head of the Rotom balloon. Aww. Poor little guy!

Sterling: <-6 HP; -5 EP>
Murkrow: <-11 HP; -9 EP; -1 Spd>

Okay, that’s it. Thinking a little smarter for the time being, Murkrow wriggles free from the Rock Tomb and begins flapping his wings, causing an arid wind flecked with bits of flame to come gusting toward Murkrow. Suddenly a fair bit hotter, Skarmory shrieks and summons another rocky assault. This time, the boulders are a fair bit larger and deal elevated damage as they slam into the poor Murkrow. Sterling cheers. Yay for going a round without getting struck down by Paralysis!

Sterling: <-16 HP; -9 EP
Murkrow: <-17 HP; -9 EP>

The Sandstorm then deals a little more hell to Murkrow <-3 HP>.

The Pokemon continue their battle along this faux jagged balloon, Sterling hopping forth and screeching some off color comments about chicken and black birds and black berries. All of this infuriates Murkrow and slams his body weight into Sterling. That may have hurt Murk more than Sterling there!

Sterling laughs off the hit and flies toward the smaller avian. Murkrow gets up and charges again, having no desire to just sit there and think up something nasty. This time however, Sterling smashes Murkrow's head against the balloon to drive the point home.

Irritated and pretty battered now, Murkrow finally gets a chance to attack. He flaps his wings and starts to increase the temperature in the area. As fast as Sterling moves, she's not fast enough to evade heated air surrounding her searing her metallic body! Aichiwawa!

The sands clip against Murkrow one last time (3) before subsiding, and the balloon floats into clear skies.

Murkrow quits the pacifist game and decides that if this bird won't go down peacefully, then maybe it should be remodeled into something else. The temperature reaches a fever pitch again, and Sterling notes it! She replies with a nasty Flash Cannon that pegs the avian and forces him to fly on his own merits.

But Sterling moves quick. as Murkrow is recovering, Sterling manages a blitzkrieg Steel Wing that sends the bird spiralling past the balloon. Murk however speeds back up and delivers yet ANOTHER Heat Wave, using up all his power to do so. but it works, and Sterling falls off the Balloon.

Things really don't get any better than this! murkrow starts to flap his wings as a new Pokemon bounces onto the balloon. Its a Bonsly! The little girl rolls about on the faux pointy ghost and then starts up a Sandstorm. Jus then, Murkrow shoots up...

However, this balloon's losing its girth. Murkrow seems to have known that already, but Maple seems outta luck, as the sandstorm seems to obscure anything else...wait...there's a funky looking shape to the east. Maple rolls and leaps-and makes it to the foot of something. Murkrow lands on the new ballon-and as it sails out of sandstorm range, we see its a Hariyama!

Well, that was a waste for Murkrow. The avian just sits there for a moment, before a few small rocks fly down and try to pin him. They just knock him off though. Whomp.

Crown huffs. He's down to one, and he knows that girl has a weakened Pokeball still available. So he whips out his last competitor, a devilish wolf. But the second Nero lands on the ablon, she's tagged by those orbiting rocks.(3)

While Nero's disoriented, Maple immediately starts off with a spell that allows her to figure out just what she's fighting against. The spell took a bit out of her. Nero just danced on the balloon, liking the bouncy surface.

Maple, ecstatic over her new ability, now goes on the offensive. She runs to try and take out Nero, but Nero is damned quicker. He slides out his right leg and Low kicks the rocky beast, getting a severe hit in-even though Maple is quite light. Maple rolls and manages to continue on, kicking Absol back.

Maple skids to a stop and as she turns around, Nero spits in her face. Maple falls backwards, and cries for a bit. She flips up after regaining her senses(and spitting Toxic up) and run at Nero. Nero's right forelimb is taken out form under her again. Ow.

Nero decides its time to get proactive in this. He lines up his aim and sweeps his head back and forth, releasing a Psychokinetic force. It Curts across Maple, knocking her to the ground. Maple stands back up and chants another strange spell, and apparently is able to mimic all the lively attack prowess Nero has this far.

Nero growls, but notes the sun is out. Yay, Sandstorm stopped. But ..i guess the Sandstorm had an adverse effect on their balloon. They go down, but hey, a bright red Balloon is rising up. Both Pokemon leap for joy and land on opposing ends of the Latias Balloon!

Now, back to fighting. Nero watches as Maple bounds over, ready to Flail her heart out. She strikes, but since both are in a similar spot, it does not hurt as much as she'd like. Nero retaliates with a hefty Night Slash.

Maple doesn't see why this stupid wolf just doesn't die and goes for a Facade. But Nero dashes in quick and slams into the rocky beast with all his might. She manages to get her Facade to land as well, but both Pokemon bounce backwards, hurting.

Toxic grows... (9), and then Future sight sends Maple flying over Nero's head. Nero sighs, glad that came through before it was too late.(10)

Maple feels its time to get this match done. She bends her little sprout head down and flings herself toward Nero, like a ticking grenade. Nero though, is pretty swift on the upswing. I say upswing because he canted his head, releasing a powerful ripple of energy that blasted through the little rock Pokemon. Maple landed, fizzing out.
