In other words, Roaring/Whirlwinding a Pokemon away to negate stat changes rather then using Haze.
We already have enough clauses. Putting a clause on spikes not only is stupid just sounds stupid. It's a legal move, and you either need a rapid spinner, or your just going to have to deal with the consequences. I am trying to fit a RS'er on my team and am having problems, too, but we don't need to put a clause on everything that has potential to be a big time strategy.

imho, this 'Spikes Clause' is a stupid/nubish idea. ppl shouldnt be restricted coz some individuals couldnt be bothered to put any thought into their teams and therefore their teams cant counter certain strategies. i think comparing Spikes to curselax is crazy and even curselax had a lotta counters.
tho i think its a stupid idea, i still want to know how you would propose it to be implemented. how is this 'Spikes Clause' goin to work??

With 3 layers of spikes stacked up, the incoming pokemon will take 25% health damage. However this becomes less then 20% after leftovers are factored in. Having this damage and an attack added onto it on an incoming pokemon can be devastating.
However, food for thought: Its pretty much determined now that each team needs spikes. Do they really need it now? Almost all spikers suck, except skarmory. The slot could be fitted with someone else. Skarm is a great addition to everyteam, however.
Skarm and Glalie are the best spikers, one is physical the other is special attack. Each has decent staying power. most of the others are ok but not great. You don't need spikes, but like me, I needed a Special attacker on my team, it just happened to learn spikes, so why not.
im gonna play sum strategy with my glalie and breloom
of course me glalie will have:
spikes
icebeam
toxic
protect
and after doing toxic and max spikes.. my breloom comes into play
spore
return
leech seed
focus punch
so by sleeping the foe most possibly he would switch pokemon... and spikes....!!!!!!!! hehe
id give glalie rest if your gonna make it a spiker... and sorry to ruine your day BTW my archnemesis likes quina, quina pwnz, lol... i was master qu at ffixhq, i modded and adminned there for a while before it went to hell... anyways, spikers should be defensive IMHO i like skarmory the best out of obtainables... and i personally like spikes, rest, drill peck, hp-ground... @adamant, and it deends on life for leftovers recovery if there even using them, and if they have less than 25% etc. or you can hit them with pursuit there doomed...anywhos... im into 2v2 alot recently, and there are plenty of 2v2 spiking strategies... but i wont bore you all with them,

try headbutt over return, good chance for flinching. Flinching combined with leech seed is very useful and return never did much anyway.
