You and your pokemon Decide to enter the cavern, and the first thing to catch your eye is a set of cave paintings on the surrounding walls.

To your left, you see a painting of an obscure figure next to an altar radiating a golden light. What's more, the wall seems to give off an incandescant emerald glow.
To your right is a painting of another obscure figure, this time somewhat shorter in stature, next to an altar radiating another golden light. This wall, unlike the other, seems to give off an incandescant ruby glow.

As you traverse through the cavern, the glows fade, and you eventually come across a third mural. This one, however, is left unfinished. The only trace of any work done is the same altar in the other murals, radiating the same golden light.
Unlike the others, however, this wall doesn't give off any incandescant glow.

"I'm afraid that story isn't quite finished yet." A voice says behind you.

You whirl around to face the source of the voice, only to see an aged Sunflora.


"Welcome. My name is Egil. I have been expecting you for quite a long time."

"I know what you seek, but first and foremost, you are my welcome guests. I simply must show you on a tour. Follow me, if you will."

With a content look on his face, Egil leads you deeper into the cave, where you come across a part of the cavern that contains three spaces for murals.
"It's easy to look back on how far you have come. I have seen many mystical and strange things, and this is the place I go to do so."
An orb of light appears, giving you a better look at the three spaces.

"I welcome you to my cave. I have deemed it the cave of insight, for I have recorded your journey thus far here."

You then decide to focus on the murals, looking to the one on your left first.

It's a depiction of a whimsicott.
"This room depicts the three sages you have and will meet on this journey. The first was Sage Whimsicott, courageous guardian of the emerald of lightning."

You then look to the second mural, situated in the center.

It's a depiction of a heatmor.
"The second sage you met on your journey was Sage Heatmor, powerful guardian of the ruby of fire."

When you look to the third space on the right, however, you see that it's blocked by a wall of leaves.
"Sadly, you must not see the third mural quite yet." Egil says. "Spoiler alert."
He then turns to you.
"Now, I believe a certain someone has sent you here, has he not?"

You are given the stone and listen to Egil.

"This quest of yours no longer matters, for there is no cure to your friend's ailment."

Egil sees the look of disbelief on your face and continues.

"However, there was, and can be. The end of the road approaches, so in order to continue, you must join a different road.

"After all, sometimes the only possible cure is prevention."

On that note, you prepare to leave, but Egil stops you once more.

"One more thing! I would like you to take my granddaughter, Sakura, with you on the rest of your journey. I expect she may come in handy."

Sakura sports a look of disbelief as she looks to her grandfather. "But grandpa! How could I possibly help them? You need me here!"

Egil shakes his head. "Do not worry about your grandfather. I can care for myself until your return."

Sakura goes through a moment of contemplation before nodding. "Alright, grandpa, if that's what you want." She then turns to you.

"Will you accept me, kind trainer?"

Celebi being the obvious choice, you make that your present goal, but you have no leads.

With nothing else to go on, you decide to head out to give the stone to apopheris, so you and your party make your way out of the forest.

After about an hour of walking, the exit is in sight, and you step out of the forest.

As soon as you set foot out of the forest, a hand taps on your shoulder, and you turn around to see a familiar face.

Apopheris has appeared, as he said he would.

"So, I see you have retrieved my item." He holds out his hand. "A deal's a deal. Hand it over, please."

You hand Apopheris the stone, and he stares at you for a good while.

"Nothing else? That's it? you're just gonna GIVE me the stone. No kind of youthful rebellion like 'oh I wanted this stone so badly, so you can't have it'?" he mocks you in a childlike voice before poofing into smoke that smells faintly of chocolate.
He then instantly reappears next to you and wraps an arm around your shoulders.
"You know, you could have made this a little more fun, you know. I even went so far as to fabricate a new direction on your quest for you."

With a snap of Apopheris' fingers, a seedling appears in his hand. He tosses it to the ground, and it plants itself, already beginning to grow into a little sprout, and finally forming into a flower that comes to life before your eyes.

A sunflora has been grown before your very eyes.

Sakura's eyes go wide.
"B-b-but that's impossible! You can't just GROW a pokemon like that, it can't be done!"

Apopheris appears right next to Sakura in a flash.
"Oh really? Then riddle me this, Ms. Sakura. What did you have for breakfast this morning?"

"Oh, that's easy, I ha- .... I had, uhm... something. I don't know, I know I had breakfast this morning, but when I try to remember, there's just a blank."

"exactly." Apopheris snaps his fingers again, and the sunflora he had made a second ago disappears. He then turns to you.

"When you're a lord of chaos, as you have long ago realized that I am, you get bored by doing nothing. I saw your plight, and my chance with it, and decided to have a little fun with you. I fabricated a little sidequest for you to see how you would react. I simply... made up... a detour on your current quest, way different from what was originally intended for your timeline, and might I say that I am quite bored. So here's what I'm gonna do."

Apopheris jumps into the air, and a battlefield appears in front of you. He lands on the other end.

"Defeat me in battle. If you win, you get the stone and the master ball."

I am many things my friend, but stupid is not one of them. breaking a deal with one such as yourself is never a good idea and, after all that isn't the only piece of lucarionite in the entire sz. Either way a battle, with you for the lucarionite? hmmmm well as long as you play fair (and seeing as you're doing this for fun that isn't unprecedented) I don't see why not, unless losing would cost me the ball that is, what rules and arena do you suggest?

Apopheris waves his cloak to reveal his belt, and a pokeball materializes on it. He takes the pokeball and tosses it into the air, releasing a pokemon.

As the pokemon materializes, you ascertain their identity at last.

It's a lucario!

Apopheris then tosses the lucarionite to the lucario, who catches it in the air.
Then apopheris raises his arm, revealing a mega bracelet.

"Defeat my lucario..."
Apopheris points towards Sakura, who starts in surprise.

"With that Sunflora. Winner gets the stone."

As you send out Sakura, the battle begins.
You command Sakura to throw up a safeguard, which she does, and Lucario does the same.

Sakura then sends out a luscious scent through the air, which lucario, even in his stoic poise, can't help but take a sniff of.
Lucario then follows up with a swords dance in response, making a show of his increased focus and power.

Next we see some action. Lucario dashes towards sakura, but the thick smell in the air dulls his senses, and his movements appear as sluggish and slowed.
Sakura takes this opportunity to launch an energy ball towards Lucario. It doesn't do as much damage as it could have, but the force of the attack is enough to force lucario away, forcing him out of range.

"Good move!" You hear apopheris shout from the opposite end of the field.
"But this is just the warm-up round. Prepare yourself, because now the battle truly begins."
