I don't mean to be a pain, but I think Hypnosis should be updated:

"Hypnosis: The user stares deeply into the eyes of one victim, slowly lulling the unwary into slumber. The blind cannot be affected by the move, but most other pokémon will be fighting drowsiness or sleep. Note that Confuse Ray is occasionally referred to as “Hypnosis,” but it is a distinct move with different effects. Moderate accuracy."

In the anime episode where Ash takes on Morty of Ecruteak City, Noctowl uses Hypnosis as a ring of red fires from it, and Haunter waves it's hands to lull it's foe to sleep.

I think it should updated as well, but we'll need someone who's seen most of the attacks used. It's also a rather big project so those who don't watch the anime so it'll be a gradual change

Just wondering, with regards to healing moves (specifically, I'm thinking Synthesis) what would be the base % health it heals? Obviously things have to be taken into consideration, like area, rain or no rain, on fire or not, etc all, but what would you say is a good figure?

    Got some questions:

    1. Do ghost attacks or ghost-based attacks affect Normal types? I don't see how Normal types are unaffected by such in the games, and I have yet to see a Pokémon Episode where Normal types were able to withstand Ghost moves.
    2. Isn't Aerial Ace some kind of high-speed divebomb? I know in Eppy 366 where Ash is teaching his Swellow Aerial Ace, Jinbii's Pidgeotto flies high up in the air, and comes back down in a divebomb.

Chris: I'd personally say 10-15%. I don't see it used a lot because of the increased fatigue factor but that's a pretty normal amount without the sun

Chris W.: As far as I know, ghost attacks don't work on normal types and vice versa (unless foresight is used). As for aerial ace, I've never seen the episode so if you know what it looks like in the anime, go for it. I'd rather see people do that than guess

Are poison types immune to the effect of toxic? I mean they are in the game, but you never know with the anime.

In an early Kanto Episode (This one how the kids and TR had to help out a hospital because a truck carrying pokemon crashed, injuring them) Arbok (Jessie's) had actually taken a heavy blow, rupturing one of its internal poison sacks, internally poisoning it...

But in general, most animals are immune to their own poison... plus for the sake of simplicity, lets say all poison types have the exact same type of poison, whether it be gaseous (Koffing), Liquid (Muk) or in sharp pointy little pins (Arbok)

Um would Foresight break a Substitute? I'm asking because it says in the list that Foresight breaks any illusion. I'm pretty sure Substitute is physical but I just want to double check it would still hold up under a Foresight. Thanks.

Check the ASB News, but we're adding anew attack. This is also being added to the main list in the first post.

    Shadow Rush (---)
The user becomes surrounded in a darkness that is unlike either Ghost or Dark type energy. Fuelled with frustration the pokemon charges forward attacking with all it's strength. Though physical, the attack will damage any pokemon type with a normal amount of damage. Due to the force of the attack, some recoil damage is taken.

I have a quick question: Does Double Team have to be always established in a circle? Is it possible to establish the images any way the user wants, like on a straight line?

You can specify any way for the double team to be established. A circle is best though because you cannot hit all the clones at once (even swift would only target one). This way, the real Pokemon can strike the foe unnoticed while they defeat clones unknowingly.

In the anime, besides a circle of clones (Fourth Round Rumble), we've seen Georgio's Delcatty create a line of three clones. It's up to you, but remember some ways may require more fatigue than others.

    Hi.

I've got a question here that currently has me stumped, that I'd like some help with please.

Can Blizzard be used in such a way that it can make the ground slippery in spots for either/any of the Pokemon in the arena of a battle?

    Thanks in advance.

Most likely yes. It would need to be aimed somewhat at the ground of course in order for most of it to strike a surface and freeze, but otherwise it would make sense.

    Okay, thanks RaZor LeAf.

I have two more questions (for the time being) that I'd like answered please.

    1. You know how Blast Burn and Volt Tackle are on the list here? Just wondering, but why are Frenzy Plant and Hydro Cannon not on the list? Is it legal for Venusaur/Charizard/Blastoise to use Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn and Hydro Cannon respectively?

    2. Since Pichu can only get Volt Tackle in Emerald, can they (as well as Pikachu and Raichu) use Volt Tackle in a battle as well?

    Thanks in advance.

I didn't realise that Frenzy and Cannon weren't on the list. But yes, the 'Elemental Hyper Beams' are all legal moves, but are currently restricted to only the Kanto starters (Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise). Volt Tackle is also a legal move for the Pikachu family. I'll get around to adding Frenzy Plant and Hydro Cannon to the list.

In XD, the Johto starters can also learn the elemental hyper beams. Since we're allowing XD moves then these should be applied for Chikorita, Totodile and Cyndaquil.

    Hi.

I've got two new questions I'd like answers for please.

Firstly, for any Pokemon that can use Mimic, is it allowed to Mimic any move only it's opponent knows in the battle regardless of how many rounds ago the move was used?

Secondly, can Spite be used in a way to sap a Pokemon's energy while it's taking a break in a battle?

    Thanks in advance.

1: Mimic can be used any time, I suppose, but it will all depend on the ref. Some refs ref mimic as you temporarily learn the move (for say, 9 rounds). In that case, the longer the period between said move and mimic (say you wanted to mimic a move used in the first round of a match, and you were in round 5), the less time the user has the move for (2 rounds, perhaps).

However some people may ref mimic as learning it until the user faints. In that case, the mimiced attack would be substantially weaker in power or accuracy. Both these examples are due to the fact that the mimicer would have a weaker memory of how the attack was executed.

2: No. I believe Spite involves a type of curse which causes the user to feel more strain when performing an attack. Therefore it can't really be applied to someone who is recovering from fatigue, because they would be gaining fatigue for recovering fatigue, and you'd reach a balance and get nowhere. So no, only for attacks.

Just wanted to point a little fact about Perish Song. Misdreavus sang the song in the Raikou special and both pokemon seemed to loose their powers and become weaker and weaker. Also, the receiver of Perish Song gets trapped within some sort of red net.

I also noticed this following the Pokemon Chronicles episode, and might watch it again. At the moment we are sticking with the game version, however, simply because the anime version has been seen once (in said Chronicles episode) and since Uk fans have only seen it, it may confuse others.

We might look to update it in the New Year. After all, Perish Song is the height of cheapness.

I think it would be wise to also have a form of Character Dex. ...Better word would be the different species Characterisitcs. I think it would improve battles alot, and I can ask a few people to help me out with devising it, maybe even ask another ASB I frequent to borrow their's and make improvements upon it? If you have no clue what I'm talking about, I can get some samples *nodnod*

If you mean abilities: they arent introduced yet, and I personally can't see them happening soon

    Or

If you mean "Abra = quiet" or "Sudowoodo = excited" etc, theyre a tad RPGish and also sound quite daft. I'm sure there are exciteable Abra and quiet Sudowoodo somewhere.

oh and Natures won't be implimented, I don't think, since theyd be very confusing.

    Unless you mean things like:

Remoraid / Goldeen / etc - Fish. Excellent movement in water, little to no out of water survivability.

I've always reffed fish on land in this manner, and I think it would be nice if others followed suit. I know Goldeen was always used in the anime without issues, but there are differences between ASB and the anime.

That's exactly what I mean Dan. Different Species of Pogies have different characteristics. Like, Alakazam has a supercomputer brain, so he'd be able to process thoughts faster, thus enabling it to perform attacks a bit quicker than usual, or how Espeon's fur is tuned to the wind, and they can tell what attack their opponent is going to use earlier than normal and they can try and dodge (Taken from a Dex entry, I believe.)

If you two want, I could ask around, and get a list set up?

Dan's example makes sense, and I do recall Goldeen's lack of use in the anime being down to the fact that it is unusable on land.

But I'm unsure about some of them, they seem a bit trivial to me. Espeon being able to predict their foes move automatically seems a bit far-fetched and unfair. I mean, doesn't the Emerald Dex say Meditite can fly? Charizard never turns its flames on weaker foes etc.

Perhaps draw up some brief examples, but try not to make them bias or otherwise indicating it can be used as an advantage. PM them to me and Dan, we'll talk it over and get back to you.

    Well, the ability for them to predict their opponent's move (Espeon) is slight, and it would only be able to sense the foe disturbing air currents...I think. I'll get a draft for you guys soon, and I hope they aren't all that bias, since *everyone* can get the same pogies, if they felt like it >_>;

That's the problem in Competitive Online Play. Those pokemon are also referred as OU pokemon. I'd hate to see this happen for ASB. I like UU pokemon.

I think you'll find there are plenty of people with underused pokemon in their teams. Just look at mine and Chris 2.0's. Primeape, Mawile, lickitung, Granbull, Gligar, Hoothoot. Not that it matters, ASB isn't netbattle, a Mankey is perfectly capable of taking down an Alakazam, it's all down to how the person commands it.

Yea sometimes going for UU Pokemon is better than OU. I prefer Typhlosion over Blaziken because Typhlosion are less used and are still rather agile really. I like Cacturne simply because its sinister and UU, as well as being really fast.

Anyway that aside, UU Pokemon rock. So do OU (like I can't wait to use Charmeleon or Dratini, especially the latter when it evolves!). A good mix is the best IMO.

Yes, well my favorites and pokemon used in ASB (I'm only started, but I have planned some 6-7 pokemon) are all UU, except for my beloved Snorlax. I'm also in love with Sneasel, but it's quit common here so I skipped it.
