You and your Pokemon look up in awe at Reshiram and Zekrom. It's actually them. You make a passionate plea in order to sway them to the side of pacifism, but the two Legendary Pokemon appear undaunted by your words. In fact, if they even heard you speak at all, their countenances don't show it. They remain completely stoic. Steve smirks.



"Don't you get it?" Steve scoffs. "I restored Reshiram and Zekrom. I possess the Light and Dark Stones. The Dragons listen to me now. Once I tricked you into getting me the first Light Stone, I knew I could also count on you guys to go after the Dark Stones and bring them to me. Virtuous people are so easily manipulated. Now, Reshiram, Zekrom... I need you to hold the six of them at bay while I figure out how the next part of my plan is supposed to work."

Suddenly, Steve pulls out an old weathered scroll he starts reading furiously. You also see that he has two small electronic gadgets in his possession.



Eh? This was supposed to be much more straightforward than this!

Sabaku lets out a roar as she fires off a powerful Hyper Beam at Steve. The attack hits, blasting Steve backwards into the opposite wall where he collides with a sickening thud. He collapses in a daze, but doesn't need to even issue commands. Reshiram and Zekrom defend their master without requiring instruction: Reshiram casts a series of Imprisons over your Pokemon, preventing any further Hyper Beams from being issued, while Zekrom drapes a Safeguard over itself, Reshiram and Steve. Ernesta and Brenton attempt to use Status-based moves, but they merely collide with the white veil of energy rather uselessly.

Steve, meanwhile, gets up, gives his head a shake and continues reading his parchment.

"I think... I've got it... yes, it's so simple..." he murmurs.

And with that, you and your party leave the Tao Shrine behind as you dart out into the hallway.

Reunited with Chopin, you and your brand new Pikachu leave the lab behind (no rival battle? D: guess not) and begin your Adventcha! After only a few minutes of walking, a squat little Pokemon wiggles out of a nearby patch of grass.



You don't remember ever hearing about any Caterpies on Route 1, though. Dream shenanigans, man.

Sabaku, Brenton, Rhode, Ernesta and Elmira; all use Hyper Beam at Steve. Not at the same time, but one after another so Protect can be avoided. Then Ernesta use Toxic and Brenton use Will-O-Wisp, and I'll throw an Ultra Ball if that works. If that's not going to work, RUN!

You find a rather large ornamental vase to hide behind. You wait for the Dragons to come stomping out of the Tao Shrine, but they never do. Instead, listening closely, you hear Steve addressing Reshiram and Zekrom on the other side of the black and white doors.

"Okay, I've got it," Steve's voice says. "I just need to boot up the Up-Grade and the Dubious Disc like so. Reshiram, use Fusion Flare. Zekrom, use Fusion Bolt. Aim both of your attack at me... now!"

You see flashes of orange and blue coming from within the Shrine.

A Porygon-Z now, eh? I'll check it out, because he'll be at least slightly dazed after evolving so dramatically so quickly.

Sabaku! Run in as quickly as you can and use an Outrage attack at Reshiram and use Focus Energy to work off the confusion if you finish early. Rhode, blast Zekrom out of the way with Dragon Tail then hit Reshiram with Rock Wrecker; Brenton use a Smokescreen to create a diversion and confuse the legends, but make it high in the air so that our team isn't obstructed. Then go with Shadow Claw and Crush Claw on Reshiram. Ernesta, Elmira, Toxic both Reshiram and Zekrom and proceed to slow them down with String Shot. Finish by giving Steve the same treatment.

You and your team burst into the Tao Shrine, ready to kick some Reshiram/Zekrom/Porygon-Z behind. You step into a wall of grey and reddish smoke that stings your eyes and causes you to cough violently. Suddenly, a figure bumps into your leg. You look down and can just barely see Ernesta's pink body.

"What do we do, Cynder?" she exclaims. "I don't know what to attack because I can't see a damn thing!"

Coughs on all sides of you signal the fact that your other party members are facing similar difficulties. Suddenly, you see a greyish light in the middle of the room. A figure floats up to you through the smoke.



"Steve?" Ernesta asks incredulously.

"I am not Steve," the figure intones. "I am Z."

The smoke parts and Reshiram and Zekrom come back into view, stepping forward as they flank their master. Right on cue, Brenton, Rhode and Elmira erects Protective barriers around themselves. Sabaku and Ernesta, meanwhile, respond by kicking out a Dragon Pulse and a Sludge Bomb respectively. Z, however, whips up a Protect of its own.



"My revenge begins now," Z says. "You expelled me, Headmistress Ernesta, and for that... you will suffer."



You shield your eyes as Reshiram, Zekrom and Z release a fleet of powerful energy-based moves. You can hear them striking Ernesta in rapid succession and, when the assault finally peters away, you watch as the Ariados crumples in defeat.

"And now for the rest of Skyline Terrace," Z remarks. "Follow, Dragons."

Z tears off upward and crashes through the ceiling, causing great slabs of marble to crash down to the ground. Reshiram and Zekrom follow suit, bursting violently out of the Shrine as they vanish out of sight.

"That's... oh dear, I simply cannot believe it," Salvador says, wringing his tail anxiously. "Listen, I'm so, so sorry. If I had known why Steve was going after the Light Stones or why he felt the need to steal the Up-Grade and Dubious Disk, I wouldn't have... well, if we need help, we might find luck in Skyline Terrace. Mayor Ambipom and Commissioner Noctowl might be able to help us out. In the meantime, though, I can help you with the Headmistress."

He flails his tail around and Sketches a carton of eggs. He then takes one of the eggs and slips it into Ernesta's mandibles, working the joint so it gets crushed and swallowed. It works: Ernesta returns to partial health. She opens her eyes feebly.

"I'm going to make that little runt pay for this," she moans.

Chopin releases a Thundershock that electrocutes the fat bird and sends him into a tailspin toward the ground where he lands with a painful thud. Carson wiggles free from the Pidgeotto's clutches.

"What did you do that for?" Pidgeotto exclaims with the Park Director's voice. "I was just about to grab some dinner!"

"Don't eat me!" Carson snaps. "It's me, Carson!"

"Carson? Well, in that case..." the Park Director says as he strikes Carson with a series of Wing Attacks. "This... is... what... you... deserve... for... bringing... Darkrai... back... you... fool!"

The Pokeball smacks him in the gut and he's promptly sucked inside.

At the same time, Carson begins to spit a steady spray of String Shot skyward. The stuff drifts down over him, hardens and turns green as he evolves into a Metapod.

"And now I don't even have legs anymore?" Carson says in disbelief as he looks at his new body. "This is horseshit."

You scoop up Carson into your arms and continue on northward until Route 1 comes to an end and you find yourself in Viridian City. You're not entirely sure this place has earned the title of "city" on account of how it has only five buildings, but you decide not to question that.

"Pffsh, that would never work," the Super Nerd says. "The Elite Four? Team Rocket must be off their rockers if they think they can pull off a heist of that magnitude!"

"My boyfriend is cool!" the Beauty says.

"Yep, that's the ninth time you've said that," the Bug Catcher responds, hanging his head.

Ernesta confirms that she's ready to travel as Salvador joins your party and you hop aboard Sabaku (with considerable difficulty, since there's lots of you). Sabaku then shoots off through the gaps in the ceiling left by Z and the Dragons and you quickly find your way back outside before setting a course toward Skyline Terrace.

Your party members heal mid-flight as you descend lower and lower toward Skyline Terrace. As you approach, you can immediately see something is going wrong: you can see three shapes darting about in the air, firing beams of energy at the town below.



You land on a crowded boardwalk where a number of citizens have gathered to watch the sky with anxiety and horror. You glance skyward and watch as Z shoots off a Psybeam at a nearby boardwalk, which explodes in a violent swell of smoke and cinders. Ohshit.

How do you proceed?

Ernesta, would you be able to find Commisioner Noctowl or Mayor Ambipom to explain the situation and ask for backup or something? Elmira can accompany you if she wishes, the Mayor's most likely to trust you; especially with backup.

Right now, we have to fight. I'll use the same commands as earlier, so:

Sabaku! Use an Outrage attack at Reshiram and use Focus Energy to work off the confusion if you finish early. Rhode, blast Zekrom out of the way with Dragon Tail then hit Reshiram with Rock Wrecker; Brenton use a Smokescreen to create a diversion and confuse the legends, but make it high in the air so that our team and the village isn't obstructed and damaged further. Then go with Shadow Claw and Crush Claw on Reshiram. If Elmira decides to stay, she could help out by slowing Z with a String Shot and poinsoning him with Toxic, then use Venoshock at him.

Ernesta and Elmira scuttle off to locate some assistance while your Pokemon see if they can deal a little damage to the airborne trio. Sabaku tears off into the sky and begins striking Reshiram with a series of Outrages, which the Vast White Pokemon responds with a few Outrages of its own. Z and Zekrom, spying Brenton and Rhode, swoop lower which causes the crowd of congregated Pokemon to rapidly and chaotically disperse. This close, you can easily see the three Light Stones and three Dark Stones hovering Psychically around Z's neck. Brenton coughs a SmokeScreen into their faces, but a Magic Coat care of Z causes the smoke to rebound and float down toward you and your Pokemon. Rhode tries a Dragon Tail and a Rock Wrecker, but both attacks miss thanks to the smoke. Z then Locks On to Rhode and blasts him with a Blizzard while Zekrom hits Brenton with a trio of Bolt Strikes. He's Paralyzed. Just as you begin to wonder why Rhode's Lightningrod didn't kick in, you remember it's currently disabled thanks to Teravolt. Damn it.

"C'mon, Steve," Salvador says. "Snap out of it. This is ridiculous. Commissioner Noctowl is going to be here soon and you're going to--"

"Silence," Z intones. "Steve is no more. I am Z."

"Oh, yeah, shorts are the greatest!" the Bug Catcher replies.

"So true!" the Jr. Trainer♀ adds in agreement.

"My boyfriend is cool!" the Beauty says.

"Somebody get that girl a doctor, please!" the Super Nerd cries in exasperation.

Rather than inserting yourself into the scintillating shorts conversation, you leave the Pokemon Center behind and trek to Viridian Forest. You cross through the treeline and into the forest where the thick foliage blocks out much of the sunlight. You peer from tree to tree without knowing exactly where you're supposed to go.

Suddenly, a frantic Bulbasaur bursts out of a thicket. It's being chased by a swarm of Beedrills.





"AHHHHH!" the Bulbasaur shouts before sprinting right past you.
