After many rounds of tough battling, Dark Sage was down to his last Pokémon. Out popped a cute and energetic Spheal named Kandy. Kandy didn’t think much of her opponent, so she happily scooped up some dirt and flung it at the Abra. Roulette was quite tired but managed to Teleport away in time.

The psychic type reappeared behind the unsuspecting seal. Kandy literally got quite a shock as the Abra punched her with a fist full of electric sparks. The Spheal rolled forward a couple of feet before turning around. She became more serious in battling now. Her short tail glowed white as she swung it forward. Despite its small size, it delivered a powerful blow as it struck the Abra, who was now severely weakened.

Roulette staggered back up and took a chance with Dyanimicpunch. But Kandy displayed her power again by bouncing on the ground and producing large seismic quakes that knocked the Abra off his feet.

*Master of Paradox throws his Pokeball straight up into the sky. It opens in midair, discharging three orb-shaped metallic creatures linked by magnets. They descend in front of him as he catches the Pokeball, scanning Kandy.*

Kandy, be careful!

First, use Double Team.

Then, use Water Pulse.

Finish with Rock Tomb

Warm up the systems, Qwerty. We are going in.

When Kandy tries to pull the Double Team, Lock-On to her. That should ensure you don't get confused by the images... and make your next attack much more likely. Once that's established, blow the little seal halfway into the next season with Zap Cannon. Close by wrecking her eardrums with a good Screech.

This is it. The final showdown in this long battle. Qwerty the Magneton has a type advantage against the little Kandy, but any experienced battler will know that surprises abound in every battle.

Kandy knew that the mechanical Pokémon is just waiting to zap her with an Electric attack. She attempted to prevent this by duplicating herself several times. Qwerty simply floated in midair, emitting several clicks and beeps. But what was really happening was that the Mageneton was taking aim at the real Spheal and locking onto its target. Kandy did not know this yet.

Qwerty charged up a rather large orb of electricity. Mean while, the multiple Spheals prepared their own orbs – blue ones filled with water. Qwerty fired his attack first, which was followed a split second later by the seal’s Water Pulse. Immediately after that, Kandy was hit with an immensing shocking sensation and found herself being knocked backwards several feet. Her attack still managed to hit her opponent, but the Magneton just shook it off.

The Spheal was now paralyzed and that slowed her down greatly. If Magnetons had mouths, this one would be grinning right now. Qwerty emitted a horrible screeching sound that nearly busted Kandy’s ears drums. She cringed as she slapped the ground hastily with her flippers. Four rock spires surrounded her opponent to shut it up.

Qwerty, begin this round by leveling your prison with a focused Sonicboom. Then give Kandy a dose of Swift and a Thunderbolt in quick succession for having the hubris to seal you up like that.

I have a question:

Do Ground attacks hurt the Magnemite family in this context?

They do in the game, but in the anime, these pokemon... Well, they float.

I'll say it depends on how close to the ground Magneton is. Only a couple inches off the ground and Magneton can still get hit by Dig, and the debris from Earthquake (although the damage would from that would be reduced). Mud Slap, Mud Shot, and the like will still work as usual.

Magneton would usually levitate at a height out of the reach of an Earthquake though.

While it's breaking out of that Rock Tomb, use Earthquake.

Then, try to use Yawn.

Next, try to get it with a Blizzard.

Qwerty rotated its multiple magnets are a tremendous speed, generating a loud sonic shockwave that easily caused the surrounding rounds to crack and shatter. However, this was not a fast enough escape as Kandy, though small and cute, managed to unleash a mighty Earthquake that ripped through the arena and slam into the Magneton. With a quadruple weakness to Ground attacks, the tremor took a large chunk out of the metal Pokémon’s health.

It managed to float back up into the air, out of reach of any future Earthquakes. It was severely shaken though, and this gave Kandy the opportunity to attack again. She took a deep breath and expelled a large pink bubble that floated gracefully toward the Magneton, popping as soon as it made contact. Qwerty’s eyes began to droop, but before falling asleep, it managed to fired off a quick Swift attack that did some decent damage to the rotund seal.

Kandy smiled as she watched her opponent land on the ground again as it dozed off. Now it was time to unleash one of her most powerful attacks. She gathered ice energy within her body and out from her mouth erupted a huge blast of freezing ice and wind that roared across the arena, creating a frozen path as it went on to strike the Magneton hard. Besides some major damage, this had two effects: the chilling cold woke the Magneton from its sleep, but it also managed to freeze it to the ground. Recalling its last command, Qwerty crackled with electricity and managed to shatter the ice that was trapping it. A bolt of lightning was fired and made a direct hit on the little seal, who yelped in pain as the Thunderbolt struck her. Then Qwerty floated back into the air, not wanting to be within reach of another Earthquake.

If it doesn't work, we'll save healing for later. Use Ice Beam, and then Rock Tomb again.

Also, if he looks like he's going to use Zap Cannon again, switch your current move to Protect. We're not dealing with that again.

Qwerty, stay on target...

Begin with a Screech. That should easily drown out Kandy's Yawn. Protect yourself from the Ice Beam, and then blast the little ball-shaped aquatic mammal with a mighty Thunder.
