With a confident smile, you withdraw Zen and send out Orion. The big Pokemon takes up quite a bit of space and it has to duck slightly, but is nonetheless an impressive sight. Golem looks impressed but then he laughs.
"Oh very impressive, but you think that will be enough to fly into the volcano? The only Pokemon who can do something like that is Aerodactyl, but since he lives at the crater and you can't reach it, you have a bit of a problem here."
He then screws up his face in thought.
"Tell you what, I think I could possibly get through that rockfall, but you need to do something for me. Firstly, I want you to find one of my children, Geodude. I haven't seen him for a while and I want to make sure he isn't in any trouble, like he usually is. Bring him back here and I'll ask you for one more thing, then I'll clear the rocks for you, although I might not be able to completely clear them. Whaddaya say?"

"Most likely. Though I have quite a number of children these days I just cannot be sure." He yawns again and then settles back to sleep. You move away quietly and head back towards the large chasm, Orion close behind.
Eventually, you return back and immediately see the Geodude. You approach him and he moves back, slightly suspicious.
"Wh-What do you want with me?" he asks. You open your mouth to answer, but are interrupted by an angry Gigalith.
"There you are, you damn troublemaker!" it says and Geodude looks at it in surprise. "You will return what you stole from me!" The Geodude shrinks away and clutches to your leg. The Gigalith glares at you. "Are you in league with this thief?" he asks.

You try to reason with Gigalith, but he just won't listen. Charging towards you, you stand your ground and clench your eyes.
"STOP" shouted a familiar voice. A few seconds of silence and you open your eyes to find the Darmanitan-Z from earlier. His eyes are glowing blue and Gigalith is frozen in mid-air. After another few seconds, Gigalith was released and landed on the ground.
"Now" says Darmanitan. "We will settle this peacefully. The item you seek in behind those rocks, along with a few other items that Geodude has hoarded." With that, a few items float from behind a rock.
You see an X Speed, a Rock Gem, Normal Gem and Super Potion. Gigalith gasps in relief as the Rock Gem is given back to him. He looks disapprovingly at Geodude.
"Surely he must be punished for his crimes?"
Darmanitan nodded. "That is for the father to decide. Thankfully, this young woman will be escorting him home." Gigalith looks between you and Darmanitan, before walking off, satisfied. Geodude breathes a sigh of relief. Darmanitan turns to you.
"Well, that was interesting, but you must get back to Golem. And you should probably take the items Geodude was hoarding, especially if Golem's doing what I think he will."

Da da da DAAAAAAAAAA! But not really. Next time, I should bring an MP3 player loaded with dramatic sounds, but unfortunately I have none. With Geodude in tow you head back towards Golem and reach the fork in the passage. Confidently, you stroll upwards on the right fork and find a large shiny boulder in front of a cave-in, slightly further up from before. You give it a quite knock and Golem unravels.
"Welcome back and hello son."
Geodude mumbles. Golem raises an eyebrow. "I heard about what happened from Darmanitan and what you did was wrong, therefore, as punishment, you can make dinner, which coincidentally ties in with what I want next.
"On the mountainside, quite close to the crater's edge, there are some green plants. They're the only plant life that keeps its colour on the grey, ash covered land so you can easily spot it. Geodude can escort you."
He moves towards the wall, presses both hands against it and give a great grunt. A portion of the wall cracks and then disappears into the mountainside, creating a small passage. You peer through and see light at the end. Golem turns to you. "Accept this quest, hero?" Geodude groans.

Essential to winning the game!" says the girl who's paranoid of every person who drops by to read the adventure will suddenly pop in and smack her for doing something wrong. Withdrawing Orion back, you bravely set forth into the cave, Geodude in tow. The passage is pretty tight and gets smaller and smaller forcing you on all fours. Geodude has no problems and gets a bit impatient at your slow speed, but eventually you make it out, onto the side of the volcano.
The way is a bit steep and the ground is grey and a slight amount of ash is lightly snowing down from above and you can feel it at the back of your throat as you breathe in. You can see the beach, but not the pagoda, so you must be on the other side. Other than that, not much else.

Coughing because of the ash, you bring up your shirt to cover your mouth and nose, but then laugh slightly as the ash tickles your bare stomach. You suddenly come to an idea and remember a scarf in your bag that you kept meaning to take out. You tie it around your face breathe deeply. Perfect!
Now you peer around the area and see a tree in the distance. Geodude tugs on your trouser leg and leads you up the mountain. It's quite quiet and the ash makes it somewhat difficult to see too far, but you spot a Cubone near the tree, with a Simisear perched on a branch and surveying the area. A Raticate in the distance is digging into the ground.
