That's why you should keep battling the Elite Four raising your Pokemon while holding an Amulet Coin to get lots of money. This way you'll soon have 99 Ultra Balls and 99 Repeat Balls and should never run out of them too fast. Ultra Balls are powerful but if you've already caught the Pokemon before Repeat Balls are more powerful than Ultra Balls.

I heard that breeding doesn't affect the shinyness in a Pokémon. I must be hella lucky, cuz on Sapphire I bred my shiny Camerupt and the first egg was another shiny Numel.

I am now searching for a desert shiny while training assorted Water Pokémon. I'd prefer the shiny Flygon or Claydol, but a Sandslash or Cacturne are just as good.

On Ruby, I put the shiny Torchic restarting on hold, because I decided I want the blue Sceptile first. So far no luck... but I can be extremely patient when it comes to shinies.

So far I just topped 350 hours on Sapphire plus the countless reset hours on Ruby and I have 6 shinies to show for it. Swampert, Linoone, Castform, Cyndaquil, Camerupt, and Numel. Hopefully that number will jump to 9 with the addition of Treecko, Torchic and the desert shiny before summer is over.

Saw another Battle Tower shiny yesterday - shiny Kecleon. Very nice looking - Crufidal, I'm jealous

I'm not sure it has been definitely determined that breeding shinies have the same frequency as wild ones - you'd need to breed a few thousand eggs from one breeding pair to actually test this. I *can* test this as I have a shiny breeding pair (Male Crobat & Female Wingull) but the thought of the project just makes me shudder. I did do extensive breeding with my Crobat - perhaps 40-50 eggs with various mothers - but didn't finy anything unusual.

To be honest it would be easier (and probably quicker) to locate and crack the actual code that sets the stats. I assume this has already been done by the likes of Meowth 346 and we would have heard by now if there was any increased frequency for a shiny parent.

Just make sure you have 3-4 Zigzagoons in your party. Apart from the Nuggets they tend to pick up, they also supply you with Ultra Balls. To be honest, I don't rate using the Elite 4 for money making that highly - simply training in grass with 5-6 Pickup pokémon will get you more money (from found items) over the same time, a LOT easier, especially if you're prepared to sell Rare Candies and Proteins. And if the object is to save for balls, each found Ultra Ball is worth 1200, not the resale of 600!

If you're far enough into the game to get them to repeat, Rich Boy Winston and Lady Cindy are the real gold mine - 14,000 each if battling with the Amulet Coin, plus 8000 for the nugget their Linoone holds if you steal it. That's 18 Ultra Balls per battle, with change!

I think it's still some luck of the person playing the game for the chances of finding a Shiny Pokemon. I've played Pokemon Sapphire 240+ Hours and still I've found no Shiny Pokemon in the wild or the Battle Tower. I've been through my Pokemon Ruby three times and no Shiny Pokemon from that. I'll probably keep going over and over Pokemon Ruby because I want the one time TMs and download another Jirachi off Pokemon Channel.

Recently I found a Shiny Latios in my Pokémon Sapphire (German).
It took me a few nights to get it. I saved on Southern Island (got the Eon Ticket on that Pokémon Event in February) and reset the game everytime it was not Shiny. And no, I don't own Action Replay.

This is a screenshot from Pokémon Box (I hope it's okay to post screenshots. If not, any moderator feel free to delete it).

Three weeks of resetting for a shiny Treecko... and what do I have to show for it? TWO sightings of a shiny Poochyena. Not one, but TWO times has the Poochyena shown up shiny and I still haven't gotten shiny Treecko. Oh well. Still have 6 shinies on Sapphire version to keep me happy.
