If the previous attack worked, Z should fall asleep right about now, go which case I'll have Sabaku swiftly grab the stones from him. If I'm not so lucky, I'll have Reshiram Dragon Tail Zekrom out of the way and proceed to use Blue Flare on Z. Meanwhile, Rhode can fire two Rock Wreckers at Z and Sabaku can chase down Zekrom and use Outrage.

    TEAM BTPOKE'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Ffeffni Mountain
This large mountain is very cold and has biting winds nipping around. There is a layer of snow falling and many ice types can be found here. Also look for hardier bird Pokemon and a variety of tough foes.

    ‡ Round 34 ‡

You send Veronica and Catherine after the big black shape. Hadley, meanwhile, decides to fill the vacancies by joining your party. Your Pokedex makes you privy to your stats and that's when you realize she wasn't joking. She really is stronger than the average Zigzagoon.

Hadley then approaches the Zigzagoon and tries to start up conversation.

"Soooo," she says, "that's, uh, some weather we're having, eh?"

The Zigzagoon blinks once and then scurries away. He heads off in the opposite direction than where Veronica and Catherine went.

"There's a bit of bad blood between my colony and the Zigzagoons that live here and Ffeffni," Hadley confesses. "Our groups don't exactly get along famously. If we hurry, though, we might be able to catch him and convince him to help."

    How do you proceed?

    > Follow Veronica and Catherine
    > Follow Zigzagoon

    CYNDER'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Ffeffni Mountain
This large mountain is very cold and has biting winds nipping around. There is a layer of snow falling and many ice types can be found here. Also look for hardier bird Pokemon and a variety of tough foes.

    ‡ Round 200 ‡

Sabaku shoots off skyward and prepares to take the Dark Stones away from Z. However, that's when you realize that Z isn't just aimlessly shrieking but rather Uproaring in an attempt to maintain consciousness. The attack works: Z's fatigue dissipates while Sabaku is tossed backwards by the sound waves. Meanwhile, Reshiram takes flight and jets off after Zekrom. He knocks the Deep Black Pokemon aside with a Dragon Tail and tries to continue toward Z, but the attempt fails. You watch as Z causes two silvery translucent energy bubbles to materialize overhead: one around Reshiram and Zekrom and the other around Sabaku and Z. Reshiram and Sabaku try to breach the bubbles, but their attempts fail: they merely slam into the barriers without effect. Meanwhile, Rhode tries to fire two Rock Wreckers at Z, but the attacks merely smash against the bubble uselessly.

"You irritated me in Platin Plateau, you irritated me in Skyline Terrace and you continue to irritate me now, human," Z intones. "We will finish this now, clean and precise. One on one, though you may swap your team in and out as necessary. Now, servant, destroy your twin!"

Peering at the action ensuing over the lake, you watch as Zekrom flies toward Reshiram and attacks with a powerful Dragon Claw. Meanwhile, Z rockets forward and collides into Sabaku with a blazing Giga Impact. Both attacks look equally painful.

Something near the tunnel entrance catches your eye. You see two Pokemon watching the battle. Neither of them are native to Ffeffni.

    Um.

    How do you proceed?

    > Issue commands to Reshiram and Sabaku
    > Swap out Sabaku
    > Greet the newcomers?

Oh, to hell with it. It's not like we can't spare an hour or two, and we can find that zigzagoon later.
I'm going to go help my other two pokemon - because frankly, I don't like the idea of my pokemon going after some apparently large-as-heck pokemon without their trainer - and you can go on without me if you want.

Remember that you're not allowed encounters with Legendary Pokemon until Round 50 of your Adventcha!

    Ffeffni Mountain
This large mountain is very cold and has biting winds nipping around. There is a layer of snow falling and many ice types can be found here. Also look for hardier bird Pokemon and a variety of tough foes.

    ‡ Round 35 ‡

Hadley begrudgingly agrees to follow you as you search for Veronica and Catherine. However, after several minutes of searching, you're lost. You can't say for sure where they went and neither you nor Hadley know your way around this place. You eventually come upon a small cavern in which a Jynx and a Staravia are doing battle.

Curse that rule I had all but forgotten!

Ugh. I guess Veronica and Catherine will be fine without me. Let's go up to those battlers and ask if they had seen any zigzagoon pass by before we came along.

"Zigzagoons?" Jynx asks as she lowers her fists. "Golly, I don't reckon we've seen any of those."

"However, there is a settlement of Zigzagoons and Linoones that live in a series of caverns four levels up from here," Staravia says. "Maybe you could poke your head in there and look around?"

    ‡ Round 38 ‡

Jynx smiles bashfully before TELEPOR!!!!Ting you, Sandpaper and Hadley away. Though you've been transported a good distance, everything looks mostly the same: rocks, ice and so on. The interior of Ffeffni Mountain is, you've decided, at least somewhat redundant.

"Well, I'm off, y'all! I've got a battle to finish! The entrance to the Zigzagoon settlement is just over there! Tootles!" Jynx says before Teleporting away.

You look around and, in the distance, you see a narrow tunnel leading into darkness. Yep, there's the entrance. Stationed outside the tunnel are two normal-looking Zigzagoons who don't seem to have noticed your arrival, even if it was bright and Teleporty. They're talking between themselves and, despite the distance between you and them, you can still make out what they're saying.

"You sure?" the first one asks. "You're positive you saw a rainbow Zigzagoon?"

"Definitely," the second confirms. You recognize him as the Zigzagoon you saw earlier. "She was with a human, a Jolteon, a Druddigon and a Rapidash. This can't be good."

"Indeed. They're probably here to save that colourful Zigzagoon we captured this morning," the first says. "Well, in that case, we've got to be on high alert. I'll stay out here and you spread word around the settlement. No daring rescue missions on our watch. Got that?"

"Yes sir!" the second says with a salute before disappearing into the narrow tunnel.

    How do you proceed?

    > Approach the Zigzagoon
    > Attack the Zigzagoon

I'll return Sandy and stash her pokeball in my pocket.

Then I'll tell Hadley to stay hidden for a bit... or at least as hidden as a rainbow-colored Zigzagoon possibly can be. Then I'll go up to the zigzagoon.

"Howdy. I've been looking for you everywhere. I was hoping I could talk to your leader?"

You recall Sandy and get Hadley to hide behind a nearby stalagmite. You then approach the Zigzagoon and ask to see the leader of the settlement. He eyes you with a look of suspicion which makes sense considering he's on high alert and all.

"Lady Bethany is a very busy Linoone, y'know," Zigzagoon mutters. "Why do you need to see her?"

I have a message from an especially elite colony of Linoone/Zigzagoon.
They said it was a message of the utmost importance; of so much importance that they have allowed a trainer to pass the message; and that I was ordered to not be stopped by anything.

Do you want to KNOW what I've been told to do to those that try to stop me? I didn't think so.

Anyway, I'm willing to let this little mishap slide... IF you decide to allow me and an Ambassador from the elite colony through this instant!

You do not see the ambassador because they have been ordered to not be seen by ANYONE, under no circumstances, so the elites have demanded that all inhabitants of this colony MUST NOT lay eyes on the ambassador, not even this "Lady Bethany," as you call your leader.

    Now let us pass!

You deliver a rather long-winded response involving... well, a lot of stuff. Zigzagoon blinks.

"Hey, Frankie!" Zigzagoon shouts down the narrow tunnel where his friend went a moment ago. "Come back for a second! There's a guy here who sounds like he's up to some funny business. Tell me if he's the human you saw earlier with the rainbow Zigzagoon and the Jolteon and those other Pokemon."

Well S#%@, I was hoping that would work.

"That is it! You leave me no choice! I will use the ancient techniques that the Elite Colony has passed onto me for this very mission!"

I'd then pull out Sandy's Pokeball.

"You see this? This is a very special kind of spherical device the colony has given to me. If you do not let me through, and do as I say, I will be forced to call out the fearsome pokemon that the colony has trapped within this device."

Despite Zigzagoon's suspicion, you maintain the ambassador charade and even hold out Sandy's Pokeball as a threat. Before you can finish your little speech, however, Frankie leaps out of the narrow tunnel like a beige dart and Thieves the Pokeball right out of your hand.

"You're right, Tito... that's definitely him!" Frankie exclaims as he holds Sandy's Pokeball in his little paws protectively. "He probably has more Pokeballs on his person! We need to take them away, too!"

Oh darn, it looks like you saw through my little charade. You two are really smart zigzagoon, you know that? If only there was some hidden pokemon that could use thief to get my pokeball back!
But no, you got me. It looks like you'll be taking me to your leader for questioning, then.

Her fangs press down on the Pokeball's white button and cause it to open, summoning Sandy into the cave. Frankie and Tito take one look at your Druddigon and suddenly don't see so eager to continue their plan of attack.

At this point I should probably recall Sandy back into her pokeball. Keeping her hidden might be a good idea.

And yet somehow I feel this isn't going to be easy unless we have some sort of way to hide ourselves. Any ideas, Hadley?

This large mountain is very cold and has biting winds nipping around. There is a layer of snow falling and many ice types can be found here. Also look for hardier bird Pokemon and a variety of tough foes.

    ‡ Round 45 ‡

Hadley scratches her chin in thought.

"Well, I could maybe cover myself with some Mud-Slap mud so that I look like a regular Zigzagoon," Hadley suggests. "That's all I've got, though. I'm not sure there's enough mud in the world to make you guys look like one of the locals."

I guess you should work on that mudslap plan for yourself. After that, though, I have an Idea.

Btw, I'm gonna recall Sandy into her pokeball.

So anyway, once you got all that mud on ya, how's about you pose as one of the zigzagoon guards that we just met with (probably Tito), and we'll pretend you're taking ME as a prisoner who requested an audience with Lady Bethany?

    ‡ Round 46 ‡

You recall Sandy while Hadley smears her multicoloured fur with enough mud so that she becomes plain and brown like a normal Zigzagoon. You then head north toward Lady Bethany's chambers and find them curiously unguarded. You pass into yet another icy cavern where a crude throne made of twigs and mud sits atop a raised dais. A few rocks sit here and there around the cavern, but that's it.

    Nobody's home.

    ‡ Round 47 ‡

You begin to look around when, suddenly, something Tackles you from behind. You roll over and realize Frankie, no longer Paralyzed, has returned and pinned you to the ground. So much for your menacing threat. Glancing over, you see that Tito has arrived as well.

"So you thought you could get to Lady Bethany so easily? Nice try!" Frankie says with a smirk. "Unfortunately for you, Lady Bethany is over at the Public Square leading the interrogation against that colourful Zigzagoon we found this morning."

"Er, who are you?" Tito asks Hadley. He clearly doesn't notice her without her colourful pelt. "I don't believe we've met. What happened to the female rainbow Zigzagoon and that Druddigon?"

Hadley blinks and gulps, clearly unsure how to respond.

"They both got away, and this zigzagoon was more than strong enough to keep me trapped here so you could show up. They're probably at the storage facility, now, with no one to stop them."

Hopefully Hadley gets the hint and plays along.

    Hadley blinks.

"Er, indeedly-do! Hah hah!" she says in an improbably deep voice. You realize Hadley doesn't exactly have a natural flair for improv. "I totally nabbed this guy, but the other two took off. Majorly, uh, bogus. I'm new to these parts, by the way. My name is... Pum... ply... dee?"

"Your name is Pumplydee?" Tito asks, raising a brow. "That's a name?"

"Yes, absolutely it is," Hadley continues with as much of a straight face as she can muster. "It's, um, Derbish."

"I'm not familiar with that language," Frankie says as he maintains his pin on you. "Wait, so what's all this about a storage facility?"

I'm gonna resist the urge to facepalm and say

"I was told by my employer that there was an extremely important weak spot in this camp I'm supposed to attack, and I figured it was some Food storage point. I would have attacked it with the other two pokemon I brought with me, but this Derbian was smart and cut me off from them. If you want to stop those pokemon, you have to cut them off. You don't even have any time to warn anyone."

Frankie and Tito exchange confused looks.

"We mostly just forage for ourselves during the summer," Frankie explains. "We only stockpile food right before winter, and that's months away."

"Yeah, um, and your 'employer' is obviously the colony of rainbow Zigzagoons from Sunshine Fields, because why else would you have been hanging out with one?" Tito asks. "Except those guys only rub shoulders with other Zigzagoons and Linoones, so why they're working with a Pokemon trainer is beyond me. Anyway, this confirms Lady Bethany's suspicions about what that colourful Zigzagoon we captured this morning was doing here."

"Here, hold on," Frankie says as he starts rummaging through your pockets and pack. He unearths your three Pokeballs and three Ultra Balls. "Okay, the human's defenceless. Tito, Pumplydee, let's all march him to the Public Square so Lady Bethany can interrogate him as well."

Finally! I've been wanting to talk to your leader throughout this venture, and you could've saved me the trouble earlier. I'm not even working with the colorful zigzagoon. I just want to talk to your leader so I can get help for them (help for the colorful Zigzagoon, that is)

But why am I blathering on now? Take me to your leader, already!

    ‡ Round 50 ‡

"You're not working with the colourful Zigzagoon but you're trying to get help for her colony?" Frankie asks. "Kid, you don't even begin to make sense, but if you want to be interrogated then by all means come this way."

Tito, Frankie and "Pumplydee" lead you back into the cavern with the guidepost and then down another narrow tunnel. You soon come upon a particularly spacious cave where numerous Zigzagoons have congregated. A Linoone stands at the front of the group and she seems to be addressing a blue and pink Zigzagoon bound to a tall, upright stake. Hadley quietly gasps. You figure this must be her brother, Jackson.

"Please!" Jackson cries wearily. "I've already answered your questions a hundred times! Why must we--"

"Silence!" Lady Bethany booms. "You will answer them over and over until I'm satisfied. Now, why are you here?"

"Like I said a hundred times," Jackson moans, "I'm here because my colony's Soul Fountain has run dry and we don't know what else to do! Our Elders are growing weak and might perish soon."

"Why have you come to us?" Lady Bethany inquires.

"For help!" Jackson shouts with a raspy voice. "Maybe you have curative Berries? Or... I don't know! We only talk to other Zigzagoons and Linoones and you guys were the only ones who could possibly help, so I was sent to make contact with you."

"But our groups have not made contact in generations," Lady Bethany says. "We have a blood feud going back centuries. Why did you not seek help from the other Zigzagoons who live in Sunshine Fields? The ones who are not part of your colony?"

"Well, yeah, there are a few stragglers from Sunshine Fields who are as plain and brown as you guys are, but only a few," Jackson murmurs. "What good could they do? We were just thinking you might have the resources to perhaps--"

"You thought wrong!" Lady Bethany booms. "If you know your ancient history, child, you will know that the blood feud began when your colony first accepted the Soul Fountain. Zigzagoons are supposed to be brown and beige foragers, not multicoloured monsters lazily slurping back magic water that prevents them from requiring further nourishment. You're all abominations and the idea that we might--"

"Er, Lady Bethany?" Frankie interrupts. "Sorry to bother you but we found this guy sneaking around in your den. He says he's helping the colourful Zigzagoons out. He had some friends with him earlier but we don't know where they went."

A chorus of whispers passes through the crowd of onlookers.

"Explain yourself, human," Lady Bethany says as she peers at you emotionlessly.

The colourful Zigzagoon are dying without their soul fountain. Apparently they're facing serious withdrawal from lack of the fountain water they're so used to drinking.

It's gotten so desperate that one of them asked me to help convince you guys to help.

I'll keep Sabaku in for now, and she can use hone claws followed by roost and iron tail. Reshiram, set up a Reflect and then hit it with Will O Wisp and Dragon Pulse. I'll introduce myself to Veronica and Catherine and ask if they're willing to help me out if I need it. Obviously, I'll explain what's going on too!

Well, two of them are off who-knows-where fighting some immense creature of some sort, the colourful zigzagoon that asked for my help is long gone, far away from here, and your lackeys took my last one.

    CYNDER'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Ffeffni Mountain
This large mountain is very cold and has biting winds nipping around. There is a layer of snow falling and many ice types can be found here. Also look for hardier bird Pokemon and a variety of tough foes.

    ‡ Round 201 ‡

    Battle time!

Soaring high above the lake, Sabaku brings her talons together and begins sharpening them. Z follows suit and begins concocting a Nasty Plot before thrusting your Flygon into the wall of the energy bubble with a Psychic blast. She collides with a grunt and slides down to the bubble's base where she closes her eyes and gathers strength. After no more than a couple seconds of quick healing, Sabaku bounds back into the air as her tail shines silver. She brings the Iron Tail smashing against Z and lowers his Defences in the process. However, Sabaku's joy is short-lived: Z conjures up one of heck of a Blizzard and sets it loose upon his foe. Swells of ice and snow encroach upon Sabaku and Freeze her solid. She tumbles down to the base of the bubble, entirely immobile. Drat.

Meanwhile, Reshiram and Zekrom do battle. The Deep Black Pokemon goes in for a Slash attack, but Reshiram is too quick. The Vast White Pokemon erects a gleaming barrier that cuts (hurr hurr hurr) Slash's damage down a good deal. Unfortunately, the Reflect doesn't extend to Sabaku. Nuts. Reshiram then strikes his opponent with a fluttering, Burn-inducing flame only to find himself on the receiving end of an entirely different Status move. Zekrom blasts Reshiram with a Thunder Wave and follows it up with a Shadow Ball. Reshiram attempts to shoot off a Dragon Pulse but is rendered entirely immobile. Double drat.

You then ask for help from the newcomers and explain the situation.

They seem hesitant. They look like they're definitely brave enough to take part, but they can't tell for certain which team they're supposed to be backing. They also don't seem like they know how to contribute when Z's energy bubbles are containing the action. In the end, they turn and leave down the tunnel from which they came. Triple drat.

    How do you proceed?
