not the reference I was going for, but close enough! xD

"We're mighty sorry! We knew ole' Jackson here would get in a heap o' trouble wit' Bethany and her gang of sidewinders. We left in secrecy to help him, and sure enough, he was in a doozy of a mess with ole' Bethany by the time we caught up to his sorry behind. We met up with good ole' Hadley here, and we all just swooped in and saved 'im!"

Oh, I think I've got it now. I asked myself, "Hrm, what kind of things would BTPoke make allusions to?" And then I Googled "Braeburn My Little Pony" and it all came together.

    TEAM BTPOKE'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Sunshine Fields
A large rolling plain that overlooks TPML, the grass is soft and the air tasty. A plethora of grass Pokemon are found here as they enjoy the tickling breeze and the bright sunshine. Bird and normal-types are also found here. Far to the north, a small rocky outcropping exists.

    ‡ Round 82 ‡

You explain the situation to Georgette. She doesn't seem pleased.

"All's well that ends well, I suppose," she murmurs with pursed lips. "You only broke a minor ordinance, at least, so let's just sweep this under the rug and forget about it? It's not like you made contact with outsiders, after all. Jackson, it sounds like things didn't go well with Lady Bethany, but if you have information then I'll have take you to see Suresh right away. Sorry, Hadley... Braeburn... you, er, three other strangers... but I can't let you sit in on this one. If you wanted to check on your grandmother while we confer, Hadley, she's still in the infirmary with the other two Elders. She's not getting any better but she's certainly holding on. Such a strong old Linoone."

    How do you proceed?

    > Insist on coming to see Suresh
    > Go with Hadley to visit Gran
    > Visit the Soul Fountain
    > Explore the colony

    Whoops, missed you before, Cynder...

    CYNDER'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Ffeffni Mountain
This large mountain is very cold and has biting winds nipping around. There is a layer of snow falling and many ice types can be found here. Also look for hardier bird Pokemon and a variety of tough foes.

    ‡ Round 212 ‡

You continue to search and find a Tyranitar sleeping in the shade of a venerable oak. Nearby, a Garchomp sharpens her talons on a whetstone.

    How do you proceed?

    ‡ Round 83 ‡

Jackson disappears down the corridor with Georgette. You then offer to visit Hadley's grandmother.

"It's really up to you," Hadley says. "I'm definitely going to pay Gran a visit and you can tag along if you wish, but Sandy's Illusion won't hang around forever. Perhaps we should split up? oh, right, I almost forgot we were on a time limit.

As much as I hate to split up, because it's usually a TERRIBLE idea, it seems like a decent idea in this case. Point me in the direction of the soul fountain and i'm there.

    ‡ Round 84 ‡

Deciding the gains outweigh the risks, you decide it might be time to part ways. Hadley leads you down the plastered corridor which gradually slopes deeper and deeper beneath the earth until you step out into a gargantuan cavern far greater than any place you came across in Ffeffni. It dawns upon you exactly how industrious these Zigzagoons and Linoones must be: you see little shops and boutiques all over the place as well as a library, a sports arena and an infirmary. Hadley points you down a cobbled street as she heads for the infirmary. Looks like you're on your own.

After a brisk jaunt, you eventually find yourself in a large square in the very middle of the colony. A few colourful Zigzagoons bustle around but even more have congregated around something in the heart of the square. You worm through the crowd until you come upon a grand, crystalline fountain that simply smacks of greatness. Just as you expected, its waters have run dry. The Zigzagoons are peering at it mournfully and a few are tossing copper coins into the empty basin.

Because the crystal is translucent, you can faintly see something embedded in the Soul Fountain's base. It looks as though a blue sphere of some sort has been placed in very center of the fountain, but you can't tell exactly what it might be.

You also notice an engraving in the fountain, though time has worn it away.

Dedicated to the memory of Hector K. Linoone
Whose bravery saved of Félix R. Swellow from certain danger
    And to the Eon Pokemon
Whose generous souls made this fountain possible.

Let's look more closely at the blue sphere that's in the center of the fountain. If it's nothing special, I'm gonna look around the fountain for some clues.

    ‡ Round 85 ‡

You try to make out what exactly the blue sphere in the center of the fountain might be, but you don't have a particularly easy go of it. You think you see pinkish flecks amid the blue, but that might just be light refracting off the crystal. You then try to walk circles around the Soul Fountain in hopes of spying clues, but the forlorn Zigzagoons who have densely packed themselves around the fountain make it a tricky job. As far as you can tell, though, the fountain doesn't appear to have been damaged or tampered with. Barring the fact that it's simply not spouting water, it looks to be in perfect condition. Nothing around the fountain seems out of place, either.

I think I might know what that sphere is, but it's too soon to be sure.
Let's ask one of the locals if they know what might have happened.

    ‡ Round 86 ‡

You approach a local or two and ask about what happened to the fountain, though your questions only elicit irritated looks. As it turns out, nobody knows what happened to the Soul Fountain—and, as one of the Zigzagoons points out to you, if they knew what happened, they would probably be acting on that information instead of loafing about in the middle of the street, wouldn't they?

Suddenly, a bright, peppy Zigzagoon scurries up to you. His colouring is a little unfortunate but he looks elated nonetheless.

"Well, howdy-hey, little squirt!" he half-shouts. "Oh, don't mind those Bitter Bettys and Grumpy Guses... they're just a little lathered up what with the current state of affairs and all. Whatever you do, don't let their cynicism put a damper on your inquiring nature, alrighty? I like folks who aren't afraid to use their noggins and ask a question or two! See, my name is Ricardo and I'm helping out with the Colony Library's "Get Off Your Buttskies and Maybe Read a Book or Something" campaign. I'm handing out library cards to generate interest and you certainly seem like the kind who could benefit from one! So swing on by and take a gander at what the Colony Library can offer you! Later, Feraligatr!"

Ricardo hands you a library card and then bustles away in search of more potential patrons.

A library! Perfect! Why didn't I think of this sooner?

There must be a book on the history of the fountain. If I go and research how the fountain was created, I can find out what's different that might stop it from flowing!

To the library! The most entertaining place ever!

We have to hurry, though. We might not have much time left.

By the way, do you enjoy making new color schemes for all these zigzagoon? xD

    ‡ Round 87 ‡

Since you're not sure exactly where you are in relation to the Colony Library, you start roaming the cobbled streets in hopes of finding your destination. It takes a good ten minutes but you eventually stumble upon a rather handsome Neo-Gothic structure with the words Colony Library stamped out front. Mindful of Sandy's limited Illusion, you hasten up the steps and enter. The place smells like history and decay and you can see shelf upon shelf of books sprawling in every direction. You also see Ricardo grinning broadly behind a nearby desk.

"Golly gee, if it isn't you little squirts all over again!" he bellows gleefully. "I must be the luckiest Zigzagoon this side of Ffeffni! If you have any questions, just ask, ask, ask away! We're a little short-staffed right now on account of how half of our personnel are currently on sick leave—oh, that pesky Fountain problem is just the dickens!—but I have more than enough time to help you lovely little folks out!"

Considering you and your Pokemon are currently the only patrons currently in the library, Ricardo does indeed have the time to help you out.

"Gee willickers, the Soul Fountain? Oh-ho, should have guessed! Why, I have just the book right here!" Ricardo exclaims as he pops beneath the counter and pops back up with a book in his paws. He hops over the desk and all but barrels you over with enthusiasm as he hands the book over to you. "It's called Racecars, Explosions and Hawt Babes: Now That I Have Your Attention, Here's a Book About the History of the Soul Fountain. Yeah, not the greatest title, but definitely the greatest book! ‡ Round 90 ‡

You flip to the second chapter and read.

Chapter 2: The Creation of the Soul Fountain

Having selflessly rescued a complete stranger from such a perilous threat, Hector earned himself the undying respect of Latias and Latios. Choosing to reward Hector for his nobility and courage, the Eon Pokemon bequeathed upon him the greatest gift they could give: Soul Dew. What's more, they provided Hector with the location of a crystal deposit deep within the heart of Crush Quarry and a set of instructions that would permit him to meld the Soul Dew and the crystal into a strength-giving fountain that might last throughout eternity.

Bearing the gift of the Eon Pokemon, Hector rallied two of his closest Linoone companions, Margaret A. Linoone and Annabelle P. Linoone, and they became the first Elders our colony has known. Though it took much of their lifetime, these three Elders were able to Dig out the series of tunnels and caverns that became the colony's dwelling and construct the Fountain that Elder Hector had earned many moons prior. They gathered other Zigzagoons and populated, thus establishing our fair colony.

Though at first the the Elders spoke freely of the Soul Fountain, they were soon driven into secrecy by cowardly folk. The Swellow colony of Ivy Woods was of course deeply grateful for Elder Hector's chivalry; however, others were less amicable. Particularly, the Zigzagoons and Linoones of Ffeffni Mountain frowned down upon the Soul Fountain for they were, naturally, overcome with envy and spite. Fearful that others might also share in this envy and try to steal the Soul Fountain for their own devilish purposes, the Elders established ordinances that prevented colony members from consorting with outsiders—except in times of peril, when making contact with other Zigzagoons and Linoones would be permitted.

And so it was that our colony was allowed to thrive to greatness.

You look over and see that Veronica, Sandpaper and Catherine are dozing by your side. It appears as though they're not particularly enamoured by ancient history.

    How do you proceed?

Hmmm... Hey, Ricario, is it ok if I take this book with me?

If so, I'll head back to the Soul Fountain and look at the crystals that it's made up of.

If not, I'll continue reading to the next chapter.

    ‡ Round 91 ‡

You ask Ricardo if you can take the book out.

"Eek, I'm super-sorry, little squirt, but I can't allow that," Ricardo says. "See, this book is sort of ridiculously old and ridiculously valuable so it's a 'no loan' item. If you want to give it a read, you've got to do so within these four walls, I'm afraid. In fact, I've got some more bad news. I totally didn't realize what time it is 'til now! We're about to close soon, so... how about you read two more chapters and then I'm going to have to take the book back. We open crazy-early, though, so you can come back tomorrow!"

You then proceed to the third chapter.

    Chapter 3: The Soul Dew

The Soul Dew is a mysterious, powerful artifact whose existence is subject of Legend. There exists significant critical debate about the extent of the Soul Dew's properties; unfortunately, because the only known Soul Dew on record lies within the Soul Fountain and cannot be removed, modern scholars are unable to analyze the artifact to learn more about its properties. Scholars, however, can agree two discrete facts.

First, the Soul Dew is somehow linked inextricably to Latias and Latios. It is unknown how many Soul Dews exist within the world, though it is surmised that the Eon Pokemon have the ability to create the Soul Dew—perhaps multiple Soul Dews—whenever they desire. Some scholars believe Latias and Latios exist "within" the Soul Dew and others believe the defeat of the Eon Pokemon would cause the Soul Dew to lose its potency. These possibilities are nothing more than unfounded speculation, however, and cannot be verified.

Second, when properly harnessed, the Soul Dew produces a magical elixir. Continued consumption of the elixir has the ability to do the following:

    1) Transform the drinker's appearance spectacularly (ie. make him/her more "colourful")
    2) Increase the drinker's strength 50%
    3) Provide the drinker with all required nourishment for survival

Scholars speculate that the elixir can generate a "dependency" in the drinker and discontinued consumption can result in "withdrawal." (See: Chapter 5)

    ‡ Round 92 ‡

You flip ahead to the final chapter.

    Chapter 5: Withdrawal

Because the Soul Dew's elixir has never ceased flowing and no Zigzagoon or Linoone has ever voluntarily abstained from drinking the elixir, it is unknown what would result from discontinued consumption. However, it can be assumed that a "withdrawal" consisting of a loss of strength and colour could arise, though these possibilities are entirely unverifiable. Any further consequences such as illness or death are purely speculative.

Fortunately, since there is no reason to believe the Soul Fountain will ever stop flowing, debate about the possible symptoms of elixir withdrawal is ultimately pointless.

    That's... the final chapter?!

"Kind of a bummer of an ending, eh, little squirt?" Ricardo says as he sees that you've finished. "Golly, if I remember correctly, the publisher demanded a fifth chapter and the author kind of scraped a little something together... but because the book was published years before the Soul Fountain stopped flowing, the author didn't really know what to write about withdrawal! So he scribbled down a couple of guesses! Kind of a silly way to end things, right? Ah well. Anyway, thanks for swinging by. Be sure to swing by in the future and definitely tell all your friends!"

With that, Ricardo lifts the book out of your palms and ushers you and your Pokemon out of the Colony Library. With a final grin, he closes the door behind you.

    How do you proceed?

Well, all things considered, I really should have expected that big a letdown for information on withdrawal.

I think I might have enough information from the book, though, so let's head back to the fountain and investigate further.

Well, I managed to deduce that there might be something wrong with either the crystals in the fountain or even the Soul Dew, but that's all I have to go on so far.

Anyway, enough about me. What about you? Are you alright? I'm assuming your grandmother isn't faring well?

If you don't wanna talk about it, then let's just have a closer look at the fountain.

"You're right... Gran isn't doing well," Hadley mutters. "She was barely even conscious. The supervising medic seemed really unsure about how much time Gran hsd left because he's just a temporary replacement. The actual medic is out sick, you see, because she is also suffering withdrawal symptoms. Listen, I think we should go find Jackson and Georgette and Suresh. I'm sick of the whole not-making-contact-with-outsiders thing... there has to be someone out there in the whole entire world who knows about us and is willing to lend us a hand. Perhaps we can convince them to make contact with someone who doesn't already have a blood feud with us. So, are you in or are you out?"

Well, I learned that the fountain is run by the Soul Dew and crystals found in the Crush Quarry.

I learned some stuff about the soul dew, and how it was somewhat linked to Latios and Latias.

I also learned that the book I was reading has a crummy ending. Other than that, though, not much else.

How about we just go where you were planning to? Sandy probably doesn't have much time left, and I don't want her to suddenly change back in the midst of a crowd of overpowered Zigzagoon.

    CYNDER'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Platrin Plateau
A strange, mysterious temple set high in the sky. Here, you will find exceptionally strong Pokemon in the various rooms and spaces of this ancient land set high in the sky. If you are lucky, you may stumble on a Legend or two?

    ‡ Round 214 ‡

You send Sabaku into battle against Garchomp. The identically typed Pokemon lock eyes before attacking. Garchomp moves first, summoning a powerful Sandstorm in which she all but disappears. Sabaku spits a glob of Toxic goo into the swells of sand, but the attack doesn't appear to make contact. Bewildered, Sabaku looks left and right, trying to suss out where her opponent might emerge, when suddenly Garchomp lunges out of nowhere and slices into Sabaku with a Dragon Claw. Sabaku tries to retaliate with a fast Double Team, but the clones are promptly obliterated by the motes of swirling sand. Garchomp then issues a second Dragon Claw which makes contact with Sabaku's sudden Dragon Tail. As sand continues to swirl, the two attacks knock both battlers backwards.

    ‡ Round 96 ‡

You leave out a couple of details as you explain what you learned to Hadley. Rather than discussing this information at great length, you instead let Hadley lead you to a tall building with the words Colony Hall stamped out front. You follow Hadley up the granite steps; instead of knocking, she pushes open the heavy doors and barges right in. You see Jackson, Georgette and two strangers there. They stand gathered around a map of Sunshine Fields and turn toward you as you enter.

"Hadley, Braeburn... you other three... none of you are supposed to be here," Georgette says. "I'm sure you can under--"

"Can it," Hadley blurts out. "You trusted me enough to let me retrieve Jackson and you can trust me enough for this. We're running out of time. Those who have already fallen ill aren't going to last much longer and the rest of us will soon follow. We need to find someone who might have information about how to get the Fountain working and we need to figure out how to defend ourselves against Lady Bethany's troops, whenever they decide to show up. We're going to help you guys solve the problem whether you like it or not, Suresh."

    The others share tentative looks.

"Fine, but I must admit I'm not sure what can be done," the Linoone says quietly. "According to General Cole's estimations, Lady Bethany has a solid three-hundred soldiers at her disposal whereas we only have two-hundred... and a quarter of them are too sick to fight. Even when you consider the fact that we're naturally stronger, the Ffeffni Zigzagoons are much more knowledgable about battle than we are. We're doomed without further reinforcements. So, then... what is it you suggest?"

Hadley bites her lip. You ponder your options.

Ah, she's a clever one! Use a Dragon Pulse to clear a funnel in the storm and hopefully draw her out, then when she attacks trap her in a sand tomb. When she's trapped, hit her with a Supersonic to hinder her attempts at hiding again.

Oh, great. Georgette's here. Now I have to do the accent. I'll try to make it less thick, though.

"Ah believe our main priorities are searchin' fer help and restoring that there fountain.
Do y'all happen to know of any colonies nearby that might be willing to help?
If not, then how about some pokemon other than zigzagoon and linoone? Ahm sure someone out there's willing to help. Perhaps the Swellow Colony in Ivy woods?"

As battle continues, you catch stray glimpses of Garchomp through the swirling sand. It's hard to tell, but it almost looks like... she's... dancing? As this goes on, Sabaku shoots off a Dragon Pulse that sucks open a gap in the swirling sand. The attack doesn't make contact, but Garchomp is now visible. She hisses and darts forward with her claws raised; however, before she can strike, Sabaku calls up a tight cyclone of sand that wraps itself around Garchomp and traps her aside. She hesitates, unsure what to do, which gives Sabaku an opening to blast off a Supersonic. The sound waves addle Garchomp's brain but she maintains enough lucidity to respond with a Dragon Pulse of her own which comes crackling out of the Sand Tomb and strikes Sabaku hard.

You offer a suggestion to the others.

"Y'know, that's not a bad idea," Jackson says. "If I remember my Ancient History, Félix R. Swellow is remembered for his gratitude, right? I know it's been a while, but perhaps the Taillow colony in the Ivy Woods is willing to repay an old favour. I realize we'd be breaking the ordinances, but desperate times call for desperate measures."

"No, they don't," Suresh intones. "If we lose sight of our colony's most cherished values, then it doesn't matter whether or not we find the fight. We've sold ourselves out. We could incite the envy of even more Pokemon besides Lady Bethany and her underlings. I would sooner perish than make contact with outsiders. "

"There are some of us who don't feel the same, you know," Hadley growls.

"But Hadley, Braeburn... if you contact those Taillows then you will be excommunicated for good!" Georgette says anxiously.

Suddenly, Sandy pokes you in the side. She seems mildly alarmed. You glance over at her and see that her fur is slowly beginning to recede into scales.
