121 STARMIE

Give a Staryu a Water Stone and you have a weapon of mass destruction. Starmie was always one of my go-to Pokemon for the Elite Four. My first one, in RBY, was named Light; I gave it Bubblebeam from the Misty TM and waltzed gleefully through Bruno's team.

#122 - Mr. Mime

Another oddity, I'm not entirely sure who the hell thought of this guy. It can also be of the female variety which is even more puzzling because it has 'Mr.' in its name. Seriously, Nintendo? You could have just made them all freaking male. James has its pre-evo which is actually really cute.

123 SCYTHER
This pokemon with ninja-like agility has large scythes. Now this is where Pokemon anime should show blood. How can Scyther attack without injuring the victim seriously with those blades?

#124 Jynx

An infamously controversial pokemon. A parody of a '90s Japanese fad? Nope, Jynx is just making fun of black people as one woman once said. A classic example of how uninformed people get offended by things they don't understand. Despite the counterarguments against the "blackface Jynx" argument, Jynx ended up getting its face color changed from black to purple, ending the controversy.

125 Electabuzz

One of the most useless pokemon in the games it really had no awesome abilities or attacks and just stood there a yellow idiiot with black stripes. But with the addition of a pre-evolution in gen 2 and an evolution of itself Electabuzz is fast becoming a useful pokemon.

126 Magmar

A select member of the rapidly diminishing group of catchable Fire-types in the series, it is one of the more useful ones. It basically looks like a duck if Xzibit pimped the hell out of it. It was in an episode of the Anime where it nearly murdered Pikachu but then got owned by Charizard, on one of the rare occasions Charizard actually battled and didn't try to fist Ash.

"Pinsir. The Stag Beetle Pokemon. This unusual pure Bug-type is well known for its powerful stag horns, which it uses to crush anything it catches in between them. The pincers squeeze with immense force and can cut a freight train in half. Anything that Pinsir can't crush in its vicelike hold, it hurls away. While Pinsir isn't the only Pokemon of its kind, the fact that it learns so many Fighting attacks makes it seem a bit strange that Pinsir is purely a Bug Pokemon."

#128 - Tauros

This Pokemon has no ears. Yep, I have no idea how it hears anything. Ash caught 30 of these guys in the Safari Zone when he tried to catch other Pokemon. This confused the hell out of us Americans because the episode he caught them in was never aired here. They like to rage and rampage and dam...age. They are also a staple of my odd team because who the hell expects them?

129 MAGIKARP

The poster child for "oh, not you again!", the Magikarp is the only fish you can catch with the first Fishing Rod. It evolves into the awesome-looking but only questionably useful Gyarados if you stick it out for twenty levels. In the anime, it provided the first known case of James's Evolution-Invoking Foot.

130 GYARADOS
The Finnish dub voice actors have big difficulties saying this. They must think y is pronounced ü in English. Thet completely forget a and say Gyrados. And then comes someone with the proper pronounciation and all those Finnish Pokemon kids complain he or she said it wrong. Other than that, the story of Gyarados is based on a Chinese legend about carps swimming up the river Hunag He and reaching the Dragon Gate.

131 Lapras

Lapras is the backbone of any team being the pokemon to swim on in the anime as well as the games. In the series Lapras is used in this way many times mainly in the Orange Island saga where it carried Ash and gang on its back between the various islands.

132 DITTO

Pity the poor Ditto. In RBY, it's a waste of time to use, as while it can take any form its stats don't change with it, leaving it weak and helpless. Then in GSC, it can take any form for breeding purposes... and so it ends up sexually enslaved and used to pump out eggs. Poor, pathetic Ditto.

#133 - Eevee

The oddest and most useful of Pokemon. Eevee's genes allow it to evolve 7 different ways as discovered so far. Eevee, essentially, can cover a weak spot on a team. While some evolutions are considered meh, others are a staple on any team. Eevee was usually only given out once a game but now a small population are available in DP.

Flaaare! Use a Fire Stone on Eevee and this happens to it. It looks really fluffy, but it's probably on fire and will most likely burn you. Don't feed it taco bell because it will crap for centuries

137 PORYGON

It gives you seizures, especially if you're Japanese. It's a computer program Pokemon so it's kinda sorta not real. It's useless in the TCG unless you have very specific decks. It looks brown at first but turns colors in Pokemon Snap. It doesn't poop that we are aware of.

138 Omanyte

One of the fossils retrievable from Mt moon in the R/B/Y games as well as the FR/LG ones. Not my personal favourite of the fossilised pokemon since its a tiny shell dude verse sickles and a dinosaur. But they do look pretty cool and sound soo cute.

139 OMASTAR
'Oma' means 'own' in Finnish language. And indeed, this Pokemon owns. It's no boring at all and mixes water and rock. So it both owns and rocks. Now this post loses some credibility because I didn't invent anything else.

140 KABUTO

It's a trilobite. That isn't saying much for it, compared to the mollusk that is Omanyte. But given enough levels, it grows into the mighty (and better-looking) Kabutops. Incidentally, "kabuto" is Japanese for a samurai's helmet. It's also one of the lamer characters from Naruto, but that's neither here nor there.

#141 - Kabutops

A complete badass in looks and somewhat moves. This Pokemon is probably an ancestor of Scyther or something just because it sort of looks like the creators got lazy and decided to just copy something but make it look even better. This thing scares the crap out of me. It is a Pokemon you do not want to meet in a dark alley at midnight with no moon and no one to hear you scream.

143 SNORLAX

By far one of my favorites; it eats, sleeps, and makes little Munchlaxes, and that's about all it does. The Orange Islands episode involving it has one of the great images - Snorlax "swimming" by throwing itself through the water. Snorlax can actually learn Surf, which leads to the mental image of someone using one for a raft.

144 Articuno

The first of the legendary birds, Giant bird of ice. It looks cool has 3 tails makes a cool sound and fire chunks of ice towards its enemies how could this not be cool. Though despite Ash's amazing ability to come across rare pokemon Articuno isn't seen much in the series.

145: Zapdos.

#2 of the Legendary Trio of flight. Electricity is its game. Possibly the best out of the three battle wise, cause Mind Reader/Sheer Cold is cheap as all heck -.-... I love how the game designers tried to help us count to three in Spanish, what with Artic-uno and Zap-dos..let's not forget....

146 MOLTRES

The last of the Legendary Birds, as shown by its name (Mol-Tres). Its location was shifted with the FR/LG remake. This one is an absolute pain to catch, and romped through my team more than once before I finally nailed its ass with one of my Ultra Balls. Too bad it looks like a giant, burning goose.

#147 - Dratini

Dratini, the first real Dragon Pokemon. It is adorable and cute and an awful pain in the ass to get. It is only catchable in the Safari Zone and then only by fishing. The first episode with Dratini was never aired in the U.S. because of GUNS. Although it doesn't look like much now, it sheds its skin repeatedly until it becomes it's next stage.

The second in the Dratini evolution line supposdly has the power to control the weather. Sometimes in the anime this is demostrated but as for the games it really doesn't shine through.

#149 Dragonite

Coming towards the end of the original 151, we have Dragonite. Dragonite was featured in an early anime episode as a super-rare unknown pokemon. It was also one of the harder pokes to snap a pic of in Pokemon Snap. In the games, Dragonite is known for being one of the powerful dragons. Although now superseded by Salamence, Dragonite can still certainly hold its own in battle. Of course it wasn't the most powerful pokemon in the first generation. That title goes to...

#150 - Mewtwo

My most favorite legendary, only surpassed by Mew at times, Mewtwo is freaking sweet. It used to reign over the Legendaries in stats until things like Arceus came out. Mewtwo stared in two movies where it really wanted to kill humans in the first and only kind of wanted to in the second. It is the first Pokemon seen using the Gen 2 move Shadow Ball in its epic battle with Mew. Doesn't he know fighting with his mother is really bad?

Mew is supposedly the "god" of all pokemon. It has been seen a few times in the series and had its own more along with Mewtwo. Mew was unique in the pokemon series as it was able to learn every HM/TM and could use transform.

152 CHIKORITA
The first 2nd generation Pokemon and also the first 2nd generation Pokemon in this game. It seems you guys didn't wait for me with the legendaries. Anyways, Chikorita doesn't share the same excellent appeal with Bulbasaur in my opinion, though I still like it and its evolutions look awesome, I must say. Heh, I started both the first gen and the second gen.

153 BAYLEEF

As Chikorita grows, the seeds around its neck sprout and unfold into leaves. Personally, I was never fond of this little whatzit, going with Cyndaquil as my Gold starter; this gave me a decisive advantage throughout. Note the horrible pun in Bayleef's name.

#154 - Meganium

A very dinosaur-like Pokemon, Meganium is also the least favorite of the Johto starters to me. It looks pretty cool but that's about all it has going for it. It is, however, the first fully evolved pure Grass-type starter and the first fully evolved Grass-type. It doesn't share as many weaknesses as Venusaur does but doens't pack the same punch.

155 Cyndaquil

A tiny little possibly blind pokemon that can shoot flames out of its back. Personally not a my first choice for the Jhoto starters but a good contender non the less.

156 QUILAVA

Not as cute as Cyndaquil, not as kick-ass as Typhlosion, this Pokemon is in a bad place. Generally, you'll have your starter around this level by the time you reach Jasmine - which gives you a nice ace in the hole against her and her Steel-types.

#157 Typhlosion

Classified as a volcano Pokemon, but Typhlosion seems to have more to do with flames than lava. If you started with Cyndaquil in Gold, Silver, or Crystal and kept your starter on your team, you'd be able to easily roll right over Erica's gym in Kanto with Typhlosion.

I just like Water starters. Totodile was the first I chose in Silver and the one I kept just because I seem to like Water-types more. I don't like the looks of this one. Look at its spot pattern. That's just silly. It looks like it mugged Fred Flintstone and stole his outfit (apologies for the mental image). Thankfully, it loses that silly look and becomes far more awesome when it evolves to its last stage.

Anyway 160. Feraligatr. It took me AGES to correctly spell this sucker's name right. Nor did I know its usefulness 'til I learned it could get DD and Ice Punch legally, and then that made for a whole hell of fun. Uhh yeah. And it looks like it can eat Cleffas in one bite
