Hey guys, a question I think I've never asked before. Can pokémon get killed battling? What happens if that occurs? Thankies.

Nope it cant. All it does is faint and if it does, its fresh as a daisy after the battle.

But what about gettin trapped in a hole filled with water? Also, if Charmander's flame dies, does he die too? I remember pokedex said it couldn't battle ever again, which made me thought that he would never be able to use fire attacks ever again. Thanks in advance.

Okay, I'll get this sorted out. If I seem off on this, please correct me.

Bison Woes: Good. Your damage and energy usage seem appropriate, and there's quite a lot of detail put in. Although, and this is just my opinion, if you put in health loss at the end of each attack, you might as well put in energy usage as well. But that's entirely up to you. Approved as a Rookie Ref.

Hyperness: Your damage seems a touch off, like for Surf - personally, I don't think it should deal that much damage in comparison to a Hyper Beam. However, this is a minor issue. Approved as an Intermediate Ref.

Dark Dragonite: Very concise. However, I have issues with your damage and energy calculations. Nidorino took 15 damage, which should not happen - it took both a Hyper Beam and a Surf attack. By the same token, Dragonair used up 36% of its energy, which seems rather high. I'm going to defer this one to someone else for their opinion - I'm not sure whether to approve or deny you. Sorry.

Ace64: I see no major problems. Mud Slap seemed to deal more damage than it should have - it is a very weak attack - but that's rather subjective, considering it's only a few points off of what I would have said. Approved as an Experienced Ref.

drew: Working your way through the ranks again, eh? I'm not sure if I'm allowed to put you back at your old position. If not, you're certainly approved as a Rookie; if so, then I have no objections to reinstating you your old title. A question, though: was Slinky losing 2 HP an action because of poison? That wasn't made terribly clear.

I put drew at Intermediate even though he's better than that. I'm just not comfortable putting him higher due to his recent return. It might be permanent and it might not. I'm just being cautious

I'm not actually sure about Ace. Sure, it was fundamentally sound but it didn't scream impressive. I dunno, maybe I'm missing something. If Chris or Daniel thinks it's good enough, promote him

As for Steve, I would have to deny you. Along with your health and energy issues, the grammar wasn't great and I don't see how the Surf could take the grime out of Slinky's eyes since the surf from the last round created dirty water and the water would have hit her as well, which isn't really how the attack works

Ace: Im actually going to agree for promotion. The mock reffing was quite 'normal' and as Becca said, didnt seem particularly impressive; however Ace has reffed a number of my matches and has been impressive, witty, clever and calculating. A suitable candidate for an expirienced referee, I'd say.

I agree with Becca's other comments though.

Arena Status: The huge rooftop of Indigo Stadium. Massive crowds have turned up to see this battle between two ASBers that have long since retired. The clear roof has been opened and it's night. Flood lights illuminate the stadium. There is a huge amount of space, with several resources available for the pokemon, including some small trees, a pond and plenty of rocks and dirt. The ground is wet and the dirt is muddy due to a previous round's use of Surf.


ROUND 3: “Insert Clever Pun Here”

The cool night air wisped past the two competitors, their only thoughts upon their battle. The dark night sky surrounded them, the floodlights from the arena making a circular ellipse around the two battlers, as if the rest of the world were completely cut off from them.

Breaking the utter silence, Nidorino poses to kick a clod of loose, soggy earth, created by an earlier surf attack, towards his serpent-like opponent. Thinking quickly, Dragonair’s eyes began to glow with a white light, and a huge pillar of water rises from the pond next to her, arcing over her back like a massive snake. Siege stopped momentarily, staring up at the massive wave, and at Slinky’s signal, it crashed down upon him, wiping all traces of his mud slap far across the arena, as well as some of the loose rocks and pebbles, not to mention the Ground Pokemon himself.(-9% HP Nidorino, -1% Energy Nidorino, -1 Clone Nidorino) (-7% Energy Dragonair)

Shaking itself off, Siege rises from its landing point at the opposite side of the arena, and begins to charge towards Slinky, its head bent down, aiming its sharp horn directly at the dragon Pokemon. Slinky prepares a hyper beam to counter it, but Seige is a fast pokemon, and charging up the beam took a fair amount of effort. However, in the nick of time, careless Seige slips itself up on one of the remaining puddles, struggling to stay on its feet. Although it manages to retain its balance, Dragonair’s attack is already in mid-fire. A huge white beam of pure energy emitted from Slinky’s horn, whizzed across the arena, propelling up jets of water and pieces of earth, rocks and debris in general. Siege turns at the last second to see the massive beam coming towards it, but soon it is whipped up and thrown across the arena into a glen of trees, breaking through several of them before stopping. (-14% HP Nidorino, -4% Energy Nidorino) (-12% energy Dragonair)

As Slinky begins to recharge her internal power, after unleashing a great amount of it out in that attack, a stubborn pink form rises from a pile of black, unrecognizable debris. Slowly stumbling back to its former position, the poison Pokemon shook its head, ears ringing. Spotting its opponent recharging, Siege creates 8 identical images of itself, all standing motionless in a circle, ready for whatever Slinky had next. After a few more seconds, the snake-like dragon pokemon slithered over to the clones, randomly firing a blast of powerful static electricity into one of the clones, which instantly disappears. As the round comes to a close, Dragonair doubles over in pain, the toxic slime seeping through her veins. (-8 Energy Nidorino, -1 Clone Nidorino) (-4% HP Dragonair, +2 Energy Dragonair, -4 Energy Dragonair)

Arena Status: Much of lake’s water is gone, mud, earth, rocks, pebbles, wood, and various chunks of trees everywhere, lying awry. Mega: Sorry but the reffing didn't feel the standard I expect from an Intermediate ref. I'm denying you promotion. The energy seemed very high, but the damage was for the most part ok. A good idea for the future is to put what attacks are used that round.

When you ask a question like "How is the energy high" I can't think of anything less obvious than the numbers are too high. Specifically hyper beam dealing 12% seemed a little high; usually it has a pretty high energy cost (say 10%) but they have to relax the next round. This is hardly ever utilised in ASB these days but it's still a rule of thumb.

Well, sorry to spam up this thread, but actually, I had him gain back 2% energy when relaxing, to make things a bit more realistic, since hes 'recharging.' The only set back is if the opponent siphons his energy with giga drain or something while he's recharging. Otherwise, its exactly what you said. I just found it more practical. *shrug*
