I’m sorry if this is so short. I just haven’t been feeling very imaginative or energetic lately.
Shonta’s POV
I bounced to the music as I pushed the vacuum cleaner around the living room, making sure to deodorize the place. I turned it off and heard a loud thump coming from outside. I ignored it as it didn’t happen for a while, but a minute later it came again. Walking outside I saw Beacon tackling the big tree in the backyard. She looked at me and stopped in mid-run.
“Something the problem?” I asked her.
She flashed a smile, but it didn’t look real. “Nothing’s wrong. I’m just practicing, is all.” She started to rub her horns against the bark of the tree.
I cocked my head. “You don’t practice. You definitely don’t practice by yourself. In fact, you don’t do anything by yourself.” I sat beside her. “Something’s on your mind.”
Beacon sighed. “I’m tired of being a Mareep.”
“Oh, you want to evolve. That’s going to be a challenge.”
“Why?”
“Well, besides Trinity, Moriko, and Jewel, everyone wants to evolve. I gotta work with at least one of you every day.”
She bowed her head. “If it’s not too much trouble…”
“Of course it’s not too much trouble! Of course, I would want to know why you want to stop being a Mareep all of a sudden.”
She blushed. “Well, it’s just that Mareep don’t look like battlers.”
“Neither do Flaafy or Ampharos.”
She smiled sheepishly. “Flaafy and Ampharos don’t have to bunch together in a herd to protect themselves. The others have all of these cool moves that make them look fierce. Moriko has her brute strength and Aeroblast, Lily has her Solarbeam, Trinity is just demonic…”
“She does look like a certain Japanese demon. How do you know if Trinity battles like a demon?”
“She has all of those moves! Jewel has Blizzard! What do I have that’s so spectacular?”
An idea flashed into my head, and I ran outside to get my recent purchase. I came back to her with it. “This is a start. It’s called Hidden Power. It will bring out this – hidden power – out from deep inside of you. Whatever it is, it will be spectacular.” I gave her the TM. “I’ll get the others. You have a training battle to get to.”

I stepped in the arena and got a bit of a surprise. On the other side were Tony, the trainer that I faced in the Jungle Room, and his Chikorita Green. Yes, Green. “I don’t believe that you’re my trainer!” I said excitedly.
The kid laughed. “Well, you better believe it! I have me a new Pokemon with me, too!” He threw his pokeball, revealing an Aron. The Aron faced Beacon and narrowed his eyes. “Be nice, Steel.”
I sighed. At least he’s not being called a color.
Beacon nervously stepped out to the center of the arena and took on a fighting stance. I took out my pokeballs and let out the rest of the girls. Trinity yawned and glared at me. “Any reason why you interrupted my nap?”
Moriko laughed heartily. “Alright! Beacon’s battling! Go Beacon!”
“Go Beacon!” Lily echoed.
L9 Female Mareep (Beacon) vs. L9 Male Aron (Steel)
Beacon scratched the ground with her hoof and charged for Steel. “Steel, use Harden!” Tony shouted. Steel’s armor shone brightly as Beacon hit him dead on and he didn’t move an inch.
“Physical attacks aren’t going to work, Beacon!” Moriko shouted. “That guy’s a Steel type!”
“Beacon, use Thunderbolt!” I yelled. Beacon’s wool sparked and she let loose her Thunderbolt on Aron. Aron split into three, dodging the attack.
Beacon stumbled back and looked at me with desperate eyes. I searched my mind for a way out of it. “Just calm down!” was all I could say. Beacon breathed as deeply as possible and closed her eyes. Suddenly I shuddered; the temperature had dropped in a matter of seconds. I looked up and saw snow falling. “Snow?”
“It’s so cold!” Lily whined.
“Who turned down the thermostat?” Trinity asked.
Beacon turned to me with glowing eyes. It’s her Hidden Power. It’s Ice. A huge wind picked up, bringing with it a massive blizzard. Snow swirled around in the arena, chilling whatever it touched. I dropped to the floor, unable to take the cold. I felt something furry drape itself over me. I heard nothing. I definitely saw nothing. I closed my eyes, comforted by the warmth in the blizzard.

“Shonta?”
I opened my eyes to see Beacon looking down on me. I was feeling groggy and heavy. “What happened?”
She smiled widely. “I won! I don’t know how, but I won!”
Athena helped me up. “You fell asleep. We were lucky that Trinity decided to drape herself over you.”
“Hidden Power Ice,” I whispered. “You used Hidden Power to defeat Steel.”
“Actually, Steel was still standing after the attack. But he was unwilling to move, giving Beacon the chance to hit him with a couple of Electric attacks. That was what KO’ed him.”
Beacon laughed. “Jewel herself said that it was the most spectacular thing that she’d ever seen!”
Beacon grew to level 10! She learned Light Screen as her free TM!
Again I apologize. I haven’t been feeling like myself lately. I’ll make up for it later. Now I just want Beacon to grow.
