Round Seventy-One



Darwin steps up and begins to glow orange. In the skies above the desert, the faintest wisps of cloud vanish as the sun seems to blaze even brighter than ever before. Yet in the bowels of the Maos Temple, there is only a slight rise in temperature, and nothing of any other consequence. Darwin looks a little irritated.

"OK, so that didn't work.."

The creature lashes out, a pulse of darkness spreads across the room, slamming into each of your pokemon, narrowly missing you as Darwin moves to block the attack. A second pulse of darkness radiates out again, this one doing more damage than the last, followed by a third attack, a powerful burst of ice that causes chaos as the temperature in the chamber drops to below zero. The walls shudder under the sudden change in climate and the stone makes a sharp whining sound. Before you can call out further commands to your pokemon, you find yourself pinned to the spot. Like a presence is exerting such a great pressure on you that you cannot bring yourself to move. You attempt to fight against it, but it only makes you feel weaker. Darwin and Vigilance are equally affected, but Elegance and the demon are not.

You manage to crane your neck around to see what Ele is staring at, and you see a shadow pouring down the stairwell, slowly entering the chamber. The shadow circles around Elegance a few times, then approaches the demon. Bathed in the red light from the gateway the shadow starts to take form, just as the demon did before. As it does, the pressure is alleviated form your body and you are able to move again. The shadow is still taking shape. What do you do?

Round Nine-Teen


You focus on the pokemon behind you. The candle is still shouting and shooting little tiny flames around, whilst the other two, a black lady pokemon and a lanky mouse are moving towards you. You turn away from them and look back at the girl. She is blushing but also moving towards you with her hand outstretched. Wow she's pretty. You reach out to here and almost take her hand when you are pulled backwards by the pokemon.

"No, let me go. I want to dance. I want to stay here with her."

You struggle and kick and manage to wrestle free from the pokemon and run towards the girl. A shadow suddenly falls over you and you find yourself staring right into a pair of bright white eyes and a dark red maw.



The floating head speaks directly into your mind, and you can't help but listen to its words.

"No human, you have come to far to fall at this hurdle. You must leave now before it is too late."

"Haunter what are you doing!?" The candle shouts but you can barely make out the response before you slip into unconsciousness, a hypnotic aura overwhelms you and the music fades away.

You awake to find yourself staring up at the ceiling. There is something soft beneath you, but your head feels all fuzzy. You blink it away and sit up. Beside you is Sake, watching you carefully. He nods to acknowledge you are awake then tilts his head to the side. You follow his gaze to find Rosalinda holding two ghosts in place with a Psychic and Imprison combo. The Litwik you found outside shivers as its flame fluctuates, whilst the Haunter merely looks saddened.

"What's going on? What happened in there?"

Haunter looks up at you and starts to speak, but Rosalinda tightens her grip and he squirms. She does not look pleased.

- Interrogate the ghosts

- Go back to the dancing!

Round Thirty-Three

You catch the Zubat in the pokeball before it can fly away, and the ball is instantly teleported back to the Safari Zone desk where it waits patiently with your Poliwag from earlier. You then head back up the path towards Drifloon who completely ignores you and continues rocking back and forth in silence. Leaving him be, you head over to George and Blazer who have started playing cards. Before you can comprehend where they got a full pack of playings cards from, you hear the faint rhythmic thumping from further along the path. Blazer notices it to, and stomps over to Taco. The two exchange a sort of 'tag' as they swap places. You and Blazer then head further along the path.

It winds a little, but the beat gradually grows louder but eventually reaches a volume that it stays at. An ancient looking tree stands before you, where the path splits into two. You can't tell which direction the beat is coming from.

Round Seventy-Two



Whilst the shadow keeps the demonic creature occupied, Elegance lets out a batle cry and summons an ancient sword unique only to those in his pack. Weilding the Secret Sword, he attacks the creature, slicing through tentacles that fall to the floor and hiss as they dissolve, then slashing across the demon's eye blinding it temporarily. As the Virizon moves to attack the roof structure above the creature, he hesitates for a second as he notices to shadow finally taking shape. The demon lets out a roar as it moves to attack and Elegance quickly stabs the sword into the roof above. A rumble echoes in the chamber as tonnes of rock, dust and sand empty down upon the demon burying it totally and silencing it.

"Good work Ele... what's wrong?"

Observing Elegance's strange behaviour, you watch the pokemon slowly circle the shadow. It reaches the final stages of manifestation. A quadrapedal creature with a wild tuft of fur at its front, two horns like bolts of lightning and fans at its hind quarters like they were dipped in steel.



"Brother!?" Elegance gasps "What happened to you?"

"Virizon." the shadow of Cobalion begins "I knew you would come eventually, but why have you allowed yourself to be enslaved by a human? I thought better of you."

"Cobalion, you do not know what has come to pass. I.."

Elegance is cut off by a vibration running through the chamber. The pile of dust and debris rattles before exploding outwards, showering everything in stone. The create beneath lashes out, a blast of energy strike, knocking everyone but Cobalion to the ground.

"Enough foul demon, this ends here!"

Cobalion roars and shakes his head. Nothing happens. He tries again, but still nothing happens.

"Brother! Your sword!" Elegance says, looking at the blade that lies embedded in the stone tablet.

The demon's tentacles and eye begin to heal themselves, and it moves to attack again.

- I really don't need to suggest what you're going to do next.

Vigil. Take the high road, and let loose with Air Slashes! I want that thing preoccupied with wind!

Round Twenty



Rosalinda lets them out of her psychic grip on your orders, but she still looks pissed at the ghosts.

"What the heck is going on here!?" you ask. Litwick looks sheepish and reluctant to speak, so the Haunter takes centre stage to explain things.

"I am sorry for tricking you human." it begins "Your Gardevoir is right to be angry at me, as I have been hiding in your shadow this whole time. Ever since you crossed the chasm in Grave's Yard, I have been concealed in your aura. It was the only way I could gain access to the house. The people you saw dancing are all pokemon trainers who have come here seeking treasure, or glory, or rare and powerful pokemon to join their teams. They were all lured into the house and died within its walls. They dance an eternal dance in the ballroom. Had you joined hands with that girl, you too would have been lost too."

"That doesn't explain why you were hiding in me." you say "Keep talking."

"No, you are right." Haunter sighs "I should not have done that, and I apologise, but I could not be certain if you could be trusted. Litwik seemed to think you could, but the child is young and not fully aware of the dangers of the world. This house has stood for thousands of years, hidden within the darkest forests of Grave's Yard. My ancestors lived here, along with many other pokemon. The house had many charms and spells laid upon it, making it impossible to find for a human. It was the perfect place for pokemon to go to in order to avoid capture. Many pokemon lived in the house, and never left. Three became such close friends that they would never be seen apart. A Drowzee, a Gastly and.."

"A Litwik." you finish "The photo downstairs. Litwik, you said that the Litwik in the photo looked like you. Do you know her?" you ask again.

"She's my great great great.. great.. um.. she's an old family member of mine."

"And the Gastly then... your ancestor?"

Haunter nods.

"They were the best of friends, and even after human pokemon relations became better and many pokemon left the house to seek the exciting new world with humans, they stayed behind. But over time, the charms on the house began to fade, and humans found their way here. This was before the time of your advanced pokeballs and capturing methods. The humans who came here seeking ghosts used crude methods of capture that were originally designed to banish spirits, not contain them. There was a feirce battle between the humans and their pokemon, and the three friends, by then all evolved to their full forms. The humans did not get off lightly, they were killed in the battle, and their pokemon given their freedom. Hypno saw his friends on the verge of death themselves, and took drastic measures to preserve them. He used ancient artefacts known as Ghost Jars to contain their spirits, and has kept them here all this time. He seeks a way to restore them to their original bodies by using the bodies of those he can lure into the house. He has altered the charms so humans can find it, but not pokemon. Only those who accompany a trainer and are close to one can enter. I hid in your shadow so that I could enter the house, and held by your pokemon, Litwik was able to do the same."

"For what purpose!?" you demand "You lured me in here for what? To offer me up to Frankenhypno as spare parts?"

"No. I came here to put an end to it. Our ancestors have stayed on this plain for over two thousand years. Their plight has been passed down every generation of our families. I want to see an end to this madness. I want them to know peace..... but I can't do it alone."

- ...?

BTPoke, I am totes surprised that you didn't notice Haunter has been with you all this time. You should have paid a little more attention to your trainer sprite at the start of each round.

Round Thirty-Four

You send Blazer along the left path whilst you take the right path. As you walk along you notice that the rhythmic tapping you were following is gradually growing quieter. You glance back and see nothing behind you, so you walk along a little further. Now the sound is very quiet. You look to see if you can see Blazer, and you spot him not far away looking equally as confused. Waving to him, you point back at the tree and make your way over to it again. As you approach it, the tapping once again becomes louder. You and Blazer look at each other in confusion, then you spot the edge of a black wing just behind a branch near the top. You swing your head around the tree and spot a pokemon, tapping its beak against the trunk of the tree, carving a hole into the side.

- Get Blazer to shake the tree

Round Seventy-Three



Before you do anything else, you unhook a bottle of water from around your neck and down it. The freshness revitalises you, and you feel like a weight has been lifted. You direct your pokemon to attack, and as they all spring into action, shit gets very real.

Vigilance flies up as high as possible, circling around the demonic pokemon, throwing arcs of sharpened wind constructs at the creature, each one slicing through tentacles and reducing them to nothing more than twitching worms on the floor. The demon makes a high pitched screech that causes Vigilance to shudder in the sky, and threatens to drop him to the ground. An explosion suddenly occurs at the base of the monster's body, and it seeds shards of seed and plant ichor all over the demon, including over its eye. Elegance stands alongside the shadow of Cobalion, defending the phantom of the once legendary pokemon. The Sword of Justice raises its head and spits another seed that explodes when it hits the ground. Vig freed from the screech swings around for another bombardment of wind.



"You follow his commands like a pet. Do you know how demeaning it is?" Cobalion hisses at Virizon. It's loud enough for you to hear. No doubt on purpose.

"Be silent Cobalion. I will not have an argument with you whilst you are in this state?"

"This state? A living death? My Sword and soul cut away from my body?"

"No, when you become disillusioned with the world because someone has upset the balance. Be silent or I will silence you myself."

You smirk at Elegance's attitude. You and Darwin dart around the range of attacks, with Darwin keeping rouge attacks off your back by punching them out of the air with a mixture of fire, ice and lightning. You reach the sword buried in the stone and try to pull it free, only to find it jammed solid. You motion to Darwin, to pull it free. She takes a firm grip and yanks. The sword shudders, then slides free. The blade held in her hands, a rush of energy surges through Darwin, bathing her in a silver light. When the glow fades Darwin looks different. Horns like Cobalion protrude from the top of her head and her back spikes shine like steel. She holds the sword tight, its power now fuelling her.

"Fascinating.." Cobalion mutters "She now wields the power of Cobalion."

- Tonight.. we dine in Hell

Murkrow stops tapping and looks down at you. It flutters down and sits on a lower branch to speak to you.

"Hey Murkrow, nice tapping."

"I'm trying to make a home for my nest."

"Oh. Could you come and tap a beat for a Drifloon please?"

"No. I'm trying to build a home for my nest. I'm far to busy to help you."

Murkrow flies back up to the top of the tree and starts tapping again. That was a bit of a let down.

"What's your plan, and what can I do to help?" you ask.

Haunter looks up at you surprised.

"You would help us? After we deceived you?"

"I would."

"Thank you. Nobody knows where Hypno is hiding, but he is somewhere in the mansion. It has been unoccupied by pokemon for so long that nobody knows the layout of the mansion anymore. I believe if we continue to explore, we will eventually find a clue to his whereabouts. There are sure to be hidden rooms and secret passages. Also if we can find a way to disable the charms, that would be nice."

"OK, then we keep exploring. Where are we now?"

"We are in the eastern Study to the side of the Ballroom."

- Look around the study for clues
- Go up the stairs at the back
- Go back to the ballroom! Dancing!!

Alright, then. Rosalinda, reach out with your mind to search for any other pokemon that may possibly be in this mansion (if you have the ability to do so, of course). I doubt you'll find hypno, 'cause he probably has some kind of barriers protecting him from being found psychically, but we may as well try.

Anyway, let's have a look around the study. There's a good chance that there are some clues around here.

Round Thirty-Six



"You? Help? How on earth do you propose to do that?" the Murkrow asks credulously. "I have to make a large enough hole at the top here for both myself, and my wife to sit in and not be disturbed by the rain or other pokemon, ad leave enough room for some eggs too. It's not something I would let a pokemon trainer do, certainly not one with a brutish Blaziken at his side."

Blazer growls at the dark bird, but the Murkrow ignores it and carries on tapping his beak at the body of the tree. Blazer growls again, but is ignored again.

Before you can walk away, Blazer lets out a little cry and spits an Ember at the Murkrow.

"Hey watch it! You could have burnt me! Aahh! My tree is on fire!! Look what you did you mindless thug!!"

Sure enough a small fireball is burning away at the top of the tree. Blazer grunts and swiftly claps his hands together sending a sharp wind at the fire, instantly extinguishing it. Smoke lifts form the edges of a perfectly formed miniature cavern inside the trunk of the tree. Murkrow hops inside, and after a few seconds pokes his head back out.

"OK, so you know a thing or two about making nesting space. Fine, whatever. So what was it you wanted?"

"Can you come and tap out a beat for Drifloon?"

"Ugh. Yes, fine I will do that. But I have to wait for my wife to get back first, otherwise someone might try to steal this space. Why don't you go on ahead and I'll catch up with you soon."

- Stick around and wait for Murkrow's wife
- Go in search of the final requirement

Round Twenty-Two

Rosalinda reaches out with her psychic powers and begins a mental search of the house. Whilst she does that, you start by looking around the room. There is a long couch with a soft cushion at the end that you were previously lying on. Hanging on the walls is a large painting of the mansion bathed in the light of a brilliant full moon. There is a desk with a few writing implements sat on the top. A quill, a pot of ink and some loose parchments. There are two book cases. Both are full of books, but one has a few trinkets standing on it too.

Rosalinda mumbles and you look to her.

"She said that she cannot locate any other pokemon in the house," Haunter explains "but she senses a powerful energy coming from the attic two floors above us. This may be the source of the charms that protect the house."

"All right, we'll go there next, but we should be sure there's nothing here we're missing first." you say.

- Check out the parchments on the desk
- Check out the books
- Check out the trinkets

Round Seventy-Four



With the power of Cobalion raging through her, Darwin's strength and speed is boosted and she leaps over the stone dias at the monster. Vigil circles around and bombards it with a powerful air slash, taking out tentacles at one side. An explosion of solar energy comes from the other, searing away tentacles on the other side. Darwin cuts between the two paths, and drives Cobalion's sword down across the demon's body, slicing right through the creatures flesh spilling ectoplasm and a vile grey ichor over the stone floor.

"The demon neutralises the damage caused by types." Cobalion shouts over the din "Without a Light type, it is weak to nothing but likewise no longer resistant or immune to anything."

The demon lets out a powerful screech that rips through the bodies of all those in earshot, but it is not enough to stop the determination of the three pokemon fighting in unison. Before the creature can re-grow it's stringy limbs, another Seed bomb explodes near the body ripping another chunk out of the body. A wave of wind blows fallen stone and sand at the beast, shredding the flesh as a sandstorm would, and another upwards slash from the sword divides the demon's eye, bursting the organ and spilling green push over everything.

Vigilance provides air cover for Elegance who charges forward, sword forming mid charge and slices through the demon as Darwin slams a steel covered tail against the beasts body. The damage to the creature is overwhelming, and as it slowly starts to regenerate and repair its body, it releases a foul gas into the air that forces all the pokemon to cough and hack, their eyes filling with water and their lungs burning from the acrid stench.

Round Twenty-Three

Whilst the others continue to look around the room you stand beside the bookcases and look at the little trinkets that sit on the shelves. An ivory horn etched with lines and circles on a black marble base is on the top of the bookcase. ON the shelf below it are two items hanging off a sort of hook. One is a necklace with a glass teardrop at the bottom, the drop itself holds the bluest liquid you have ever seen. The other is a thin string that has been thread through a large yellow-green seed. Another shelf contains a pair of black glasses with a white cloth belt wrapped around them. Lastly on the bottom shelf is a small tiara that is ice cold to the touch, but leaves no wet residue on your fingers. In all, they don't appear to be anything special. Then something catches your eye, the title of a book that's on the shelf next to the glasses.

"Moonlight Photography"

The book is huge, it has to have well over 2000 pages, but there's something about it that tickles at the back of your mind. You look at the other books on the shelf just in case.

Round Thirty-Seven

You leave Murkrow, taking his word that he'll be there. Now with only the melody to find, you return to Drifllon. The little balloon ghost is still bopping away in silence. Taco and George welcome you back. Taco greets Blazer as Curious George runs up to you. As she guessed, it's her turn to accompany you into the forest. And rightly so. Leaving Blazer and Taco to their own devices you and Geroge head off into the dark forest to try and find the melody you were hearing. As you cross over the boundry of the trees you can hear the faint sound of high pitched music being played form somewhere within. It's just too dark for you to see very far, and the amount of dry brush on the ground and in front of you would make walking through unaided difficult.

Although I WOULD like to have a closer look at all those items (I think I see a mystic water, miracle seed, blackglasses, silk scarf, and a nevermeltice), but I don't really think that they're of much use to me right now.

Anyway, I think I'll take a look at "Moonlight Photography" (2000 pages? peeshaw, I read "Gone With the Wind" rather easily, and that's about 1000 pages. this can't be too bad)

Round Thirty-Eight

George nods her head and creates a small ghostly wisp that bobs about in the air. The tiny blue flame doesn't give off much light until George spits a bright red ember into the wisp too. The flame burns brightly casting a strong red glow, but it suddenly jumps from the wisp to a nearby branch. The embers fall onto the ground beneath your feet and the dry brush quickly catches too. A harsh and frozen wind blows out of the forest, extnguishing the flames and melting the wisp into nothing, plunging you back into darkness.

"Are you trying to kill us?" a voice hisses from the shadows.
"No fires!" another comes from the left
From the right "No flames!"

Three sets of white eyes glare at you for a second, before fading back into the shadows. The melody continues unbroken, but you are back where you started.

- Find a better way to make a light
- Go on in the dark anyway

Round Seventy-Five



With the demon on it's last legs (does it even have legs?) and the accuracy of your team having taken a terrible hit, it's time to combo up with some spot-on attacks. Darwin uses her new found skills to wrap an electric field around her body and use it to guide her running tackle. She slams hard into the demon, burning it with the brightest blue electricity. Elegance swings its head, releasing a glowing leaf that cuts across the room, slicing through the fried body of the creature. The leaf cuts through the creature like a sharpened blade cuts through the softest brush. An ear splitting howl fills the arena, one that covers all other sound. You can feel the room vibrating, see dust falling from the cracks in the roof, and the ground rattling,but all you hear is the death throes of the demon beast. The light from the gate behind it flares and in an instant the demon has vanished, and all trace of it's presence gone from the world. The gate flickers for a second, before sealing shut, leaving nothing but the etched wall in its wake.

The silence in the room now is overwhelming. You slowly become aware of the sound of your pokemon panting and you approach each of them to congratulate them on a battle well done. When you come to Elegance, you notice Cobalion watching you carefully.

"You fought the demon well human." the legendary sword master says "But do not misunderstand my praise for anything else. You hold a part of my power in your posession, and until it is returned to me, you are as much an enemy of mine as that woman is."

"Cobalion!" Elegance hisses "Enough of your prejudice. Darkest Light fights with honour and strength, and shows no fear. He is a proud swordsman, one I would call my friend. I will not allow you to speak to him like this."

"Regardless of your personal feelings Virizon. You will return the sword to me."

- Give Cobalion the sword
- Keep it and leave his shadowy ass underground
