He absorbs the hit wonderfully, doubling his speed and tearing through the skies to catch up to the prize. You hold on tight, hoping desperately that you don't lose your grip.

You get closer and closer to Articuno as the hail continues to pelt against you [ -3HP Grand Star / -3HP Thunderhand ], but you're not yet within attacking range. Thunderhand can throw the thunder wave, but there'd be a chance he'd hit Lapras.

Grand Star this time fires off a more heavy torrent of electric energy that just seems to drive Thunderhand more and more [ +10HP, x200% Spd Thunderhand / -10PP Grand Star ]. Thunder speeds through the plain like a speeding bullet before getting a few feet behind his prey.

No longer worried about harming Lapras, he locks onto the icy bird with his mind and freezes her wings into place [ -7HP Articuno / -6PP Thunderhand ]. Articuno twists as she falls, but manages to break away from his psychic grasp before she hits the ground [ -8PP Articuno ].

The hail continues to eat away at your pokemon [ -3HP Grand Star / -3HP Thunderhand ].

Thunderhand dares to be bold, whipping his body through the air like Superman as he overshoots Articuno and Lapras before turning to face them. He snaps his fingers, mustering up the strongest batch of weak electricity he can to engulf the icy pheonix, making her paralysis even stronger [ -10PP Thunderhand / +25% Par Articuno ].

Articuno struggles to maintain lift at this point before Grand Star teleports to her foe's side. Suddenly, all four pokemon hit the ground with a thud [ -10PP Grand Star / Gravity activated ].

But even immobilized, Articuno's still got some fight left in her. She fires off a powerful beam of ice at each of her pokemon, hitting them for different damage [ -12HP Thunderhand / -9HP Grand Star / -6HP Lapras / -15PP Articuno ].

The hail continues to take its toll [ -3HP Thunderhand / -3HP Grand Star ].

Thunderhand is recalled from the battlefield as Lapras starts singing a soft melody. Grand Star plugs his ears as Articuno, not willing to go down so easily, unleases a terrifying sqawking sound that overwhelms Lapras' voice [ -4PP Lapras / -3PP Articuno / -3HP Grand Star ].

The two pokemon persist, getting louder and louder as they try to outdo one another [ -8PP Lapras / -6PP Articuno ]. As weak as she is, Articuno is still a legend -- she ain't going down so easily.

You decide to take advantage of her distraction by lobbing a second Ultra Ball at her. She pays it no mind as it slaps her wing. Opening up, the ball sucks her in like a red vaccuum before hitting the ground. You swallow your heart hard for these next few seconds as it shakes...

And shakes...

And shakes...

Before bursting open once again. The magestic ice bird caws out victoriously as the ball rolls a few feet away. She glares at the Ultra Ball for a few seconds before glaring back at you.

Articuno protests, but her body lapses as Grand Star begins pelting her with a series of bubble bombs that smash [ -6HP Articuno / -5PP Grand Star ]. Annoyed with the weak water attack, Articuno hobbles over to the starmie and slashes at him with bug-based energy [ -3HP, -10HP Grand Star / -7PP Articuno ].

You turn around, spotting the ocean -- explaining the salty smell in your nostrils. Gin teleports away towards the left, reappearing a few meters ahead. Near him is a diglett just trudging around in the sands.

Alexander, meanwhile, spots a sandslash curled up in a ball, while Kamon, behind you, starts getting as far away from the ocean as possible, heading towards a hut.

Kamon shines a light carefully, trying not to burn anything up, as you continue sifting through the hut's keeps. Unfortunately, this place brings no hints.

However, your sableye emerges inside with you with some news:

She, perhaps knowing what's about to occur, remains stoic, pointing down towards the ice at her feet. You think nothing of it as you dive for the Ultra Ball and launch it at her torso. But as it sails through the air, Articuno lets loose a massive blast of pure energy straight down, punching a hole through the ice [ -10PP Articuno ]. The Ultra Ball collides with her body, sucking her inside, before falling into the icy water below. The extra gravity given by Grand Star makes it so the ball falls down quickly [ -3PP Grand Star ].

You watch in horror as your prize sinks to the depths below...

Lapras, out of newfound loyalty, dives into the hole created by Articuno's hyper beam and sinks into the freezing ocean in hopes to find an Ultra Ball, in hopes to find said Ultra Ball sealed with your prize, in hopes to be able to bring back that Ultra Ball.

She lets out a flash of light to help her in her search, and sees something in the depths. But before she can swim down to get to it, she is pegged by a wild dewgong.

The dewgong persists, slapping Lapras around like a toy until he is struck by Grand Star's thunderbolt [ -15HP Dewgong / -7PP Grand Star ]. Lapras nods at your water pokemon before diving deeper into the cold ocean to find the sunken Ultra Ball.

She grabs it with her jaw before leaping upwards. Star continues to keep Dewgong at bay until she successfully maneuvers to the top. He fires off another thunderbolt [ -15HP Dewgong / -7PP Grand Star ] before making his way to the top.


Lapras and Grand Star emerge from the ice, exhausted. Lapras drops the frozen Ultra Ball onto the ground. Eager, you take the ball in your hands and press the center button, hoping to see if you can add a new pokemon to your vast repertoire.

But something happens as you depress the button -- the Ultra Ball vanishes in a flash of light!

Something was in there! She didn't escape!

Congratulations, Articuno is yours!

The wall of ice that once divided you from the outside halls has melted away thanks to Articuno's capture.
