At the end of the series or in the last movie, Ash's Pikachu dies, and is buried. It of course later comes back because it was burried on a thunderstone that magically brought it back to life. But that is how the series/last movie ends. I have seen a small portion of it, which is why I am uncertain as to whether it was a movie or last episode
