Anyone know where the boss from MVC2, The Abyss originally appeared from?

Because MVC had Onslaught, who was Marvel. X-men vs. SF had Apocalypse who was Marvel. Marvel Superheroes Vs. SF had that horrible Cyber Akuma....Where does the Abyss fall in?

My unsure guess is Darkstalkers???
