Default Ever Wanted to Run Multiple Video Cards?

    Welcome to Alienware's Video Array...

"Video Array, Alienware’s exclusive patent-pending innovation, is a hardware and software solution that enables two off-the-shelf PCI-Express video cards from any manufacturer to process graphics commands in parallel, thus increasing graphics performance by up to 100%. Video Array is more than just the presence of two video cards in one computer system; it is an innovative and intricate combination of technology that includes 2 or more video cards, a custom power supply, and Alienware’s patent pending X2™ motherboard, which can support the high demands of high performance CPUs and multiple video cards."

I am sure that this is old news for some of you, but I figured I would post it anyway, since, hopefully, it should be released this year. I tend to admire Alienware products from a distance, due to the often high price, but I would probably buy this.

well it's about time we've got an update on the Video Array

the damn thing was supposed to be released on Q4 2004, and instead it winds up in Wired News' 8th annual Vaporware Awards

    oh and by the way:

    Voodoo has crushed the competition

I also noticed that it was a Vaporware award winner. Of course, being delayed one quarter isn't really that big of a deal.

Aye, SLI will kick ass. Now we get to find out who can afford two decent PCI express cards ~___~ and have all the gaming power they need.

Edit: Just found out that there will be a quad 6600gt SLI system here. The way they said it would work is that if you have Two dual boards in SLI, each GPU gets X4 PCI Epress bandwidth and renders 25% of the screen.

    2x 6600GTs PCI-E... well its $187 here

    compard to the price of a 6800GT PCI-E @ $629 here.

    Unfortunatley tho 2x6600GTs < 1x6800GT

They both used to be cheaper. That 6800GT was $500 around Christmas and that 6600GT was $150.

    And yeah it IS expensive.

Well, there isn't really going to be a point to this for awhile. Right now the only thing good about it is that hardcore gamers can get the extra power if they need it.

Am the only one content with a shitty video card? *hugs his 2nd-hand $50 Radeon 9600*

    :/
