my speakers are broken

well probably not, but I haven't been able to hear much of anything since december. like, I had to crank up the volume as far as it'd go and put one up to my head like a bizarre headphone just to hear ANYTHING... along with that irritating buzzing. then later I re-plugged them in, and tried a few sound-y places like sites with bg music, wmp, when windows DINGs at you when something illegal operations itself... they all worked, but I still can't hear anything in flash or other movie-y things.
bottom line, I'm assuming I (or mom...) screwed up a setting somewhere, but I have no idea where all to check. halp?

...just realized I didn't need to share my life story but oh well.
