I've just been..."here," I guess you could say. Kinda numb emotionally with school and work (lack of at the moment, rather) and communication (or lack of, in some cases) with certain people. Not much to do other than study and just chill at the computer when I don't feel like studying anymore, so I guess it's not totally unbearable.

But that's right. I get to vote for the first time in the upcoming primary! And I'll end up breaking the FSU norm by not voting for Ron Paul!

Nicaragua, I wrote about the deaf kids there in my Language Origins and Child Language Acquisition essay just this evening... Brain... fried... too much... work... I can't WAIT to finish this damned thing, so I can a) go to bed, and b) PLAY DEVIL MAY CRY 2 TOMORROW!! YAAY!! Having the game has been SO much torture, cos I've not allowed myself to play it until I got all my essays done. :/ I'm amazed at my willpower, to be quite frank.

But in case anyone wants to know some boring English Language crap, Nicaragua is where there was a colony of deaf kids who were kept in isolation with no contact with language at all. A school was eventually made for them, and they brought their own, self-made signs (like sign language, only made up; s'called a pidgin) and cobbled together a pidgin from them. When younger deaf kids were introduced into the school, they took the pidgin and recreated it (into a creole, they're called), adding grammar and making it into a fully-fledged language. What's weird about this is the original kids had no contact with language at all, but they still managed to make their own which eventually evolved into its own separate sign-language (ISN). Neat, huh? I'm probably the only one who thinks that...
