Here is this creepy graveyard is where the match for Gym Leadership is taking place. As I hover above the field on my awesome hover chair with Mary Celeste out tyring to capture the mood of the field both fighters get ready to battle. Darkest light the defending gym leader throws out a pokeball revealing a tiny white pokemon in an egg, UC the challenger throws out his pokemon also releasing the same looking pokemon. Lets get on with the mirror image fight. Togepi the Togepi starts of by picking a bit off mud that was just lying on the ground and flicks it in Eggsquirt’s eyes. Wiping his eyes clean Squirt fires a beam of lightning at Togepi which paralyses his muscles.

Togepi moves over to Eggsquirt and tries to attack him but suddenly his muscles begin to spasm causing him to double over him pain. Eggsquirt smirks at this scene of vulnerability and creates a shroud of pure energy around him.

Eggsquirt pretty confident with himself uses his eyes to create a big flash of light which illuminates the whole field while blinding Togepi at the same time. Togepi gives Eggsquirt a small kiss but as it wafts over the field it just bounces off the shield that Eggsquirt created.

Eggsquirt feeling pretty good with himself picks up a small pat of mud and rolls it around in his hands before throwing it at Togepi. He just laughs as he opens his mouth launching a huge spout of flame which blasts through the air completely disintegrating the tiny mud bomb, before continuing on and bathing Eggsquirt in righteous fire.

With his skin burning from the fire Eggsquirt picks him self off the ground and shoots a volley of stars from his hands which fly across the field and strikes Togepi rolling him back comically. Using the momentum from rolling back Togepi keeps on rolling right into Eggsquirt knocking him back a few paces.

Being taken down a few pegs Eggsquirt puts his hands together and charges up a small bolt of lightning, Togepi tries to respond but his muscles begin to spasm causing him to fall to the ground. Eggsquirt fires the bolt which streaks across the field and strikes the fallen Togepi.

Togepi begins of this round by creating a white halo around his body which encloses on him and coats his body in a white substance protecting him from harm. Eggsquirt sees this and begins to plot his own little schemes in his mind.

Picking himself off the ground Togepi charges up a little spark in his hands before firing it at Eggsquirt which cackles across his body. Eggsquirt responds but firing a red, blue and yellow beam at Togepi which cackles, splashes and burns on contact.

Togepi tries to look all cute and innocent before blowing a kiss right in Eggsquirt’s direction as the kiss floats across the field it simply bounces off his protective shield. Eggsquirt just laughs as he opens his mouth and lets out a huge gout of flame which bathes Togepi in a bath of fire.

As he wipes of a bit of the singe left behind from the flame Togepi picks up a giant rock before slinging it across the field and watching Eggsquirt being crushed under the weight of the rock. Shoving it off himself Eggsquirt puts his hands together and fires a bolt of lightning from his hands which streak across the field and hits Togepi.

With the electricity cackling around his body Togepi manages to open his mouth and fires a huge spout of flame like Eggsquirt did before and giggles in glee as he is repaid for the damage he inflicted on the first turn. Eggsquirt rolls around a bit getting some of the ash of his body before firing a small red, blue and yellow beam which strikes Togepi hurting him badly.

Im just annoyed cos i checked with 2 current ASB Refs who both said Safeguard was vs Permanent status effects (Poison/Paralysis/Sleep etc) and temp ones (Attract/Confuse) got through.

Ok after some extensive testing with a Dragonite and Safeguard. Safeguard will protect against confusion, But BUT, only confusion which is not self inflicted.

It will protect against confusion caused by attacks:
Confuse Ray
Flatter
Supersonic
Swagger
Sweet Kiss
Teeter Dance
Chatter
Confusion
Dizzy Punch
Dynamicpunch
Psybeam
Rock Climb
Signal Beam
Water Pulse

Doesn't protect against confusion from:
Petal Dance
Outrage
Thrash

In the case of Flatter and Swagger they target will still gain the stat points but not confusion.
