    While we are at it, was there any comments on the game discussion for the casino? It's hard to think up something that will work...

    yeah I'm down with the Although it should be called The Lucky Karp Casino

    Right each player is given a coin case upon entry

    now then the games would require the use of Karp coins that could only be used in the Lucky Karp..

    Now then the coins can be bought at the serves counter for a fixed amount of points.

    1 Point = 10 Karp Coins, 2 Points = 20 Karp coins 3 points = 30 carp coins 4 points= 40 Carp coins the max amount of Carp coins you can buy are 40 at any given time the person in charge will keep a record of how many carp coins nhas in the second post just like with the bank.

    Games

    Slot Machine

    there are Six of them each one based of a region that each fettered in the main series

    Kanto/Sevii Islands (if only game had made it it's own region...)
    * 7 7 7 - 300 coins
    * R R R - 100 coins
    * Three Bulbasuar - 15 coins
    * Three Charmader - 15 coins
    * Three Squirtle - 15 coins
    * Three Pikachu - 15 coins
    * three Poké Ball - 6 coins
    * Three Magikarp - 2 coins

    Jotho, Hoeen, Sinnoh and Isshu Slots
    The kanto starters are replaced with the starters from each regain as well as the symbol of each villainous team for Hoeen slot a ninth reel is added do to the fact it had two Regional villains, also the Isshu Slots wont be playable until we start using fifth gen pokemon.

    Roulette: Pick a number 1-36 and either Black or White. and between 1-3 Karp Coins, during the tree there well be a six Karp coin wader instead, If the ball lands on your number you get that amount of Karp Coins. Land on your color to get back double what you bet, Land on both and you triple the Karp Coins you bet

    Voltorb Flip: ok there are 25 cards to flip I = 1 coin 2 = 2 coins 3= 3 coins Voltorb game over. requires no karp coin to play.

    Now then here a few small changes for the ASB version unlike the one in HG/SS when you have like for example two cards with a 1 on it you get 2 coins also when you hit a Voltorb you don't lose your coins it just means your game ends and you don't lose the coins you collected.

    Prizes

    Trade the Karp coins in for points I guess....

    and why might that be granted the prizes may need a little work but the sic Idea the same only re vamped but basically the only thing you can lose Karp coins on is the Slots... which means a bigger pay out.

    His version looks easier to understand, the games are more familiar (and cheaper), and it has a better payoff. Pokemon > points.

    Just browsing the almighty towers when I noticed a very large, quite dusty hall, lined with portraits of Contest and Tournament winners. It seems to be quite unused and it might be a good idea to breathe some life back into the hall

    Still liking the casino, now that there's nothing in Pt/Hg/Ss.

    I propose 'Bad ref tax'.

    In situations where ref's go past the match DQ limit, they have to forgo points to the battlers that they are making wait. Understandably, sometimes, real life gets in the way, and we have an absence tower for that. But if a ref constantly says 'I will get this up, I will get this up...' and we let them continue, and not get a Sub-ref, sometimes we have to wait 2 - 3 weeks.

    That being said, I also propose a 'Good ref tax', where ref's that get rounds done quickly are entitled to bonuses from the ref tower.

    I'm all over this idea. Maybe not all the points need to be taken away, though? Just a certain percentage? Just so a ref with a lot on their plate doesn't lose all the incentive to finish the battle.

    I like the Bad Referee Tax proposal. However, the Good Ref Tax seems obsolete, since if they post within the time, they should get the normal points, no?

    The suggestion is that a good ref gets more points. I support the idea, I know I find it annoying when a ref leaves a battle for too long. But I'm guilty of doing the same in the battles I ref.

    Oh this won't put pressure on refs in the slightest...

    I could see how it works to make refs HTFU, but perhaps making it come out of their account isn't the best idea. Especially if the ref has a reason for not being around.

    If he has a reason for not being around, it's called The Absence Tower. Ayeun's suggestion is merely to penalize refs who go longer than the DQ period.

    The problem with taxing refs is that it just gets them frustrated or pissed, just like you are when someone constantly naggs that something needs to be done. They know, but asides from random lazyness, they mostly have good reason for not doing their reffing. Making them feel like it's a job won't speed up the process (for me it would actually justify delaying even more), and will severly decrease the amount of refs in the future, IMO. Which will lead to a even bigger pile of work onto the shoulders of a the already small hand of refs, which would eventually drain their energy and make them quit aswell. Again, IMO.

    It sucks to wait, especially when 3/4 matches are being delayed, but I'd ask for patience and politeness. ASB is a hobby not a job; and no matter what, real life always comes first.

    Really? Well, that explains a few things.

    I could see it working, but some refs would get annoyed to see their bank account get slowly depleted. Yeah.

    I'm a strange exception since I'm addicted like crack, but while Ayeun's idea is (very) sound-we can't do that. That HAS happened before and it had a very harsh effect on the 2 refs that were around.

    I really understand your plight Ayeun, from both sides, and sometimes paitence does run out because you don't see a reason why something so "miniscule" should take so damn long. Especially since when its your hobby time and you expect to be able to do your hobby and not be delayed.

    Yeah, I'm against the Tax thar Ayuen. While slow reffs are annoying (I'm not in any shape to complain, but hey, some matches are pains in the ass), I keep trying to make sure that I get my reffings done in short order. However we've been having internet issues that eat up my time from the moment I get home from work till at least 9 PM for the last week or so. We're going to be getting these resolved in the next day or two...

    Wait... I think I misunderstood the idea here. Is it taxing them more than they receive from the match? If so, then yes. Is bad. If not, then their accounts aren't depleting.

    Actually it would Blade since refs would be more unlikely to ref matches, matches which you might be in forcing you to battle less.

    Ok, let me try explaing it with examples

    Ref of a 2 v 2 gets 4 points under normal rules

    If the match was drawn out, and passed the DQ timer once by the ref, but they said they would get it up, then they would only get 3 points (Done by the combatants going to the reffing tower and requesting deduction, Mods approve/disapprove).

    If the match was quicker, the combatants take it to the reffing tower and propose a bonus for that ref. Mods decision, the ref is awarded extra (bonus) points.

    If the combatants do not take it to the tower, the ref can still take it their themselves, but then they are going to look greedy. However, some players may not know of this being a rule (if it passes), so a bit of slack is allowed.

    OK. The tax, as ayeun describes it, is slightly flawed, in that if a ref screws up once, they have no qualms doing it again since you only get punished the first time. But, I can't personally think of any way around that without introducing the problems everyone else has brought up, so I'm gonna leave that one alone.

    But, I'm wondering if we can work with the reward system. If a ref consistently posts within the DQ period, they can get the reward. They can even ask for it themselves, instead of relying on the contestents to do it for them.

    Why not just increase the Ref-Rewards then. Cause some of us can't get around to reffing matches due to various real life factors and being able to post a Reffing every single day isn't feasible sometimes. Even within the DQ is hard for some matches.

    Well, increasing the Ref Rewards wouldn't really get at what Ayeun was hoping to propose, as that would benefit all refs regardless of whether they're fast/slow with their reffings. And I don't think anyone expects any refs to post a reffing "every single day". If that's the case, someone needs to seriously manage their expectations.

    But I'm starting to agree that the whole thing is kind of difficult to police with perhaps some pretty negative consequences on the state of reffing in general. As well, on the topic of extra bonuses for speedy refs... they'd be a nice pat on the back, but really, if a ref just can't/won't find the time to ref a match, the possibility of earning extra perks probably won't change things. An interesting idea I wouldn't be against implementing, but not one that would solve the original problem.

    Actually, we just increased the ref-rewards in our major-update back at the start of the year IIRC. I don't think refs can complain about that.

    It's been a problem since ASB began, so I would just leave it at that. Refs will do - and are already doing - their best; I couldn't possibly ask for more.

    Hey guys. Is there any possible way that the Safari Zone could have its own Forum? It would be so much fun to read if everyone had their own thread with their own name _____'s Safari Zone Adventure and they could start it up, get refs etc, just like a battle, pay the money, you know? Currently in that one smushed thread, it's so cluttered that I can't keep what everyone's doing straight in my head and it's no fun to read everyone's stories.

    And if you wanted to sort out everyone's posts in there, I'd like to suggest paying points to the mods who do it, or just make a forum and continue in there, whatever y'all want to do about it if it was to be organized in any way.

    I'm sure the Mods wouldn't mind having the Safari Zone be its own separate forum, but the problem is that they can't make a change. Maybe if we PM Lady Vulpix about it she'll make a decision.

    I agree, thats a great idea ^-^ it should be easier to follow for the refs too because when I ref Im not very fast and I hate having to scroll through 50 posts just to see what happened last or to see if the person Im reffing posted yet.
    What should happen to the saf zones that are still pending but havenjt been posted in in awhile? Mine and the ones Im reffing are like that, if possible Id like those to be moved into their own thread if this is put in place ^-^

    Actually, that has been dealt with I'll get the NL out if not tonight early tomorrow. MLG and I have a few touches to fix up and I've been a bit behind this week.

    I've been wondering... Would it be possible to set up a rotational system for safari zone refs? Rather than the giant mess in the safzone thread.

    I know you wanna be bribed with chocolate and ice cream and steak and wigs, but it's kinda stupid.

    I think it's funny, but Either the Adventurer's can say who they want to ref, or the Refs can snag them...

    I think it's annoying considering every other forum gets pissy at that level of spam but ASB allows it. Hypocrites interfering with my postcou-... I mean, I agree with chaos. Let's get a system of some sort set up.

    I wish to suggest a modification to the safari zone ruling.

    If all safari zone refs turn down a safari zone taker, by either remaining silent for a given period of time, or stating as such, it can become available to refs who are otherwise unable to take it due to having the limit of existing safari zone reffings for the level of that judge.

    As an example, let's say I pop over to the safari zone saying I wish to go for a trip. Unfortunately, no ref can take anymore, due to absence or already taking too many for their level or their own schedule. (Assume we've had a hectic set of reffings of recent and even DL's filled up on safari reffings). But, ayeun is sitting on 2. She'd take it... but she's a rookie, and rookies can only have 2. With my suggestion, after a week of watching the tumbleweed roll by, ayeun can say "Hey, I'll take it"

    This is an unlikely situation, but it can happen. Metallixs Girl found this during a period when 2 of the refs were out of town, and all the other refs were out of town.
