Checkmate! New arena test, I challenge Ben! {Ref:Chaos}

Ok since Ben and I are huge nerds we’ve devised a new Arena which we will be testing out, provided there is a ref crazy enough to actually ref this for us XD

This arena is called Checkmate. Its based on a chessboard of course, and is almost like the real game of chess but with slight ASB variations.

Basically each piece in this game will be a pokemon. Pawns are first level pokemon, kings and queens are third/top, and every other piece is a first or mid level pokemon. Besides that it plays by normal chess moves, HOWEVER. Any time a piece is about to take another piece a One Round battle is activated. Whoever deals the most damage in that round gets to keep their piece on the board, and the other piece is removed, REGUARDLESS of who initiated the battle.

This also holds true whenever someone is put into check, only it will be a three round battle, and if the king loses the check must stand, and the king must move out of check the next round. If the king wins, the checking pokemon must move back to its previous position, Forfeiting its turn and gaining a status effect randomized by the ref.

When a checkmate occurs, a smiliar battle happens, this time with a full beatdown type battle as in normal ASB. If the king wins this battle, the challenging pokemon becomes under the kings control for the rest of the game. If the king loses, its Checkmate officially and game over.

Since Ive obviously never tested it out, there may be some flaws in this arena but playing through it will help me to fine tune it ;D As for how the actual moves will go, we will use the grid system in this pic:


To tell where our pokemon are going (ex: moving [pokemon name] from a2 to a4).

As for sending out pokemon, all pokemon must be assigned a piece type from the beginning, no substitutions will be made after both opponents release their pokemon. Pokemon will be placed in order of their listing under piece name.

(also for whichever ref refs this, Im not sure how many points this will give out, it really depends because the number of pokemon battling will vary depending on peoples moves)

I'm up for reffing this, depending on a couple of things.
First, can we get DL or MLG to confirm the number of points.
Second, ben, i don't think that your listed pokemon matches the description asi said. Pawns shouldn't be evolved pokemon. I'm assuming by asi's list that rooks and higher can be lower versions than stated, but Bugaboom, Ukkikko, and Toyo aren't legit pawns. Can we get confirmation on that?
Third, do pokemon keep their damage from each round?
Fourth: Are you fine if I just list the pieces and their locations, or do I have to fix up a board?

2)Yeah your right, thanks for catching that. Pawns all have to be first stage, or unevolveable ones like luvdisc etc.

3) yes they do ;D and if their health reaches 0 theyre out of the game.

This is strange.

Umm it truly depends on the battles initiated. Since this is essentially chess, only the Pokemon that Battle would get exp and points. So even though you have 16 Pokemon out each-the battle may only be worth 5 points, depending on who battles when.

Stil, very creative Idea.

The Strength starts rushing towards Sushi, and starts thinking about what move to use. He spends a little too long thinking about this, and Sushi takes the oppurtunity to get his beak spinning, and drives it right into The Strength. The Strength is in pain, and gives Sushi a death stare he will not be forgetting any time soon.

Sushi: -2 spd, -6 EN
The Strength: -12 HP, -6 EN

~Second turn~
Sushi is partially in shock at that death stare, and doesn't even realize as The Strength slices through him like butter. Snapped back into action, she bounces back onto her feet and slices with a penguin wing we all thought was there for show.

The Strength: -9 HP, -6 EN

~Third turn~
Sushi gets over the shock temporarily, and shoots out water. And water. And water. Anyone know where all this water is coming from? Well, The Strength knows that it is coming straight for him, and he is pissed. Drenched, pissed, and seeking revenge. A sudden shot out of the water, and BAM!, Sushi doesn't know what hit him.
Sushi: -13 HP, -10 EN
The Strength: -12 HP, -10 EN

~Bonus Material~
A hand comes over the board, and picks up the Strength, and tosses him off the board, where all the other pieces that die in battle will go. A sudden fear comes over the board, and everyone knows not to mess things up.

I think we'd get the points at the end of the game, and use the number of pokemon that were battling in the game, and the number of rounds as a basis for how many points the winner, loser, and ref would get. So I'd say for now to keep a tally of which pokemon battled, and how many rounds total for the game, and we'll work it out after checkmate. I would like it this way but I think it would be WAY too easy to go point farming XD!

Btw I LOVE the bonus material XD!!!!!!!!! Especially the part where the piece gets thrown where all the other pieces go who DIE in battle lol! Thank you for reffing, I'll see what DL says and then Ill make my move ^-^

Choas, what do you want to talk about? Because my laptop has recently decided that alongside Paint.NET, all CD's and DVDs, that MSN is not allowed to work ^_^;;.

Anyway, the pieces move fine in paint. just use the colour selector to select the colour of the square the piece is on into the right click colour (The one which starts as white). Then, select and move the piece by cutting and pasting, making sure the background overwrite mode if off (Otherwise the Background will copy over.)
