Hey there,
I own Sapphire, i wanted to start a new game so i did. I've only played a day now, and i'm on route 111 (3 Badges). Heres my team.

Swellow lvl 23 (I was thinking to teach it steel wing, not sure)

Zigzagoon lvl 14 (just around for HM use) (I'm planning to put it in day care center till its lvl 19, then take it out and evolve into a linoone)

I want to take out my zigzagoon and put in a barboach to use, but i cannot find one - looked on route 111, in the grass (because its a water/ground type (the 2 types i need - it was so annoying to beat the third gym without a ground type, all thanks to combusken))

What do you think. Be brutal. If u suggest any new pokemon to take out and add please tell me.

I was planning to lvl my barboach to about 24 - 25 so i can take on the fire gym.

This is interesting, I'm currently training a team on Sapphire. I'm at the Elite Four and I have a Blaziken, Ludicolo and Swellow. I had an Electrike but I swapped it for a Gulpin. I also have a Vibrava (Lv.44) and an Absol.

Good choice, R/S/E are the only games where if you only train your starter, you can beat the game. No matter what you choose. Keep Double Kick. It has been so useful to me. Blaziken is my strongest Pokemon, train it well.

Ah yes, Gardevoir. Give it good attacks and teach it Shadow Ball to keep psychics away.

Another good choice. Evolve it at Lv 40 - 45 to get some good moves. Make sure it learns Ice Beam from the Abandoned Ship (Route 108).

Steel Wing's a good move if you want to combat rock types. Keep Wing Attack, it's quite strong.

Leave it as a Zigzagoon, it won't learn anything new. Plus its Pickup ablity is useful.

Barboach is found around Route 115 but you already have a water type. Why need two? Get something else like a Swablu or a Seviper. Your choice.

Won't work, it'll be too weak. Just train your Pokemon and they may surprise you. My Absol (which is my weakest Pokemon) beat the last Pokemon from Gyms 7 and 8.

Your team is good but you must train it properly. Select the best moves and the best Pokemon for you. Get your 4/5th Pokemon before the fifth gym, 5/6th between the sixth or seventh gym (a ghost might work well). You must have six before the eighth gym.

You can't use Barboach against the fourth Gym unless you get one in a trade, because you can't catch one yourself until you have at least five badges. Barboach is a fish; you'll never find one looking in the grass. You need to hook one with a fishing Rod, the Old Rod you got in Dewford won't be good enough, and you can't get the Good Rod until you've beaten the fifth Gym.

He's in Emerald, it's unlikely that he'll shift up to Gen IV.

Your team fails, never use it in competitive battling or any sort of battling. You come up against a Pokemon that does know Ice and/or Grass moves you've lost...big time.
