Ladies and gents, welcome to that most familiar and nondescript of all locations: Indigo Plateau! Here, a fiery battle will take place—and since one of our combatants today is a Grass-type, rest assured that, yes, actually fire will most likely be involved. Mew Master steps before the crowd alongside his mighty Treecko while his opponent, Falcon’s_Eye, takes to the stage alongside his wee widdle Togepi. Let’s do this!

As the match begins, Bubba (what a name!) begins crackling with electricity and discharges a hefty wave of it at her foe. Treecko, Detecting that such a strategy might come into play, bounds into the air to avoid the electrical current and lands back on the ground suavely. He’s a spry little guy, I’ll tell you that much!

Treecko then closes his eyes and attempts to hone his focus. Bubba blinks, momentarily confused, before figuring, eh, whatevs, and raises her cute little Togepi arms up into the air. Through the open mouth of the stadium, harsh sunlight begins to pour onto our battlers. After a moment, Treecko decides that he’s attained sufficient focus and marches up to his foe only to clobber her! The brutal assault throws Bubba backwards, dazing her. That looked rough!

Drawing in energy from the blazing sun, Treecko diverts his attention toward converting this raw power into something refined and pragmatic. He absorbs as much sunlight as he can and, in a brilliant display of light and colour, unleashes a concentrated SolarBeam at Togepi, who again is propelled backward from the sheer might of this attack. However, she won’t be outdone so easily and pulls herself up onto her wobbly feet. Bubba gets just close enough to be in range and spews a thick trail of sunlight-boosted flames all over Treecko. Hrm, this inadvertent barbecue does not seem to be making Treecko very happy.

As the next round begins, Treecko raises an eyebrow and begins to make smouldery pouty faces at Bubba. Oh… oh my. Bubba, however, crafts a glossy barrier that prevents the move’s effects from taking hold of the little Togepi and instead reverses them on Treecko. The little green lizard sighs dreamily as he peers out at Bubba. Looks like somebody has a case of puppy love!

Bubba: <-4 EP>

Treecko smiles at Bubba, entirely incapacitated by his Attraction. The little spike ball takes this moment of opportunity to lash out at Treecko with impunity, breathing another red-hot gout of flames all over the lizard.

Bubba: <-8 EP>

Able to overcome his Attraction to Bubba just long enough to eek out a move, Treecko bounces forth and aims an energy-draining punch right at Bubba. This time, the Togepi calmly Protects herself against the attack. She blows Treecko a raspberry from her side of the barrier. Sucker!

Robbed of his lead, Treecko seems eager to turn the tables on his foe once again. Bubba coughs up another snaky trail of hot flames, but Treecko quickly does a little spin on the spot, creating three Double Team clones to eat up the damage. One of the clones succumbs to the Flamethrower, leaving two.

Bubba: <-8 EP>

Treecko grins, having narrowly just avoided a serious dollop of damage, but his work isn’t done yet. To recover some of his lost health, he spits out a tiny little seed that smacks Bubba square in the forehead. Spaghetti-thin vines escape the seed’s shell, wrapping themselves around Bubba. Hrm. This can’t be good. Once again, the Togepi goes for a Flamethrower, but one of the clones takes the hit.

Bubba: <-8 EP>

Treecko draws back his fist to unleash another Drain Punch, but he takes a second look at Bubba. Aww, how could anyone clobber anything so cute and cuddly? He lowers his fist and smiles distantly. Bubba peers at the two Treeckos and fires a Flamethrower at one randomly. Fortunately, she scores a hit. Since the real Treecko was struck, the clone pops out of existence by default.

The fourth round of our little skirmish begins as Treecko once again attempts to clobber Bubba with a Drain Punch. Alas, it just doesn’t seem to be in the stars. Treecko’s fist merely collides with the white barrier that materializes in front of Bubba, Protecting the Togepi from all harm.

Treecko once again can’t bring himself to harm Bubba and instead smiles like a dopey kid. Bubba takes advantage of this moment to shoot off a second Thunder Wave, this one more successful than the first. Treecko’s muscles seize up as Paralysis grabs hold of him. Meanwhile, the sun goes dim.

Treecko: <*heart*; Paralyzed>
Bubba: <-3 EP>

Bubba takes aim at Treecko and attacks with a glaring beam of red and green energy. Treecko is momentarily dazed by the attack but pulls things together to bring his open palm slamming into Togepi. Careful, you’ll break the yolk!

Treecko begins by finding a handy-dandy piece of grass on the ground and, as he tries to press it to his lips, his muscles seize up and the attempt becomes totally futile. Damn you, Paralysis! Bubba takes full advantage of her foe’s failed mobility and shoots off another contrasting beam of red and green light, dazing Bubba and giving him one heck of a headache. Uh-oh... could that be Confusion rearing its ugly head?

Bubba: <-6 EP>

Before Treecko can try to touch that blade of grass to his lips, Bubba has just enough time to whisk in there and smack her foe with a Psychic-infused bonk of her head! Annoyed at this point, Treecko blows into the grass, creating a shrill but soothing melody. Bubba feels her eyelids growing heavy as she recedes into he shell for a good sleep.

While Bubba snores, Treecko avoids succumbing to both his Paralysis and Confusion as he speeds in and scores his first Drain Punch of the match! Good work, little guy! You’ve been so patient!

As the next round gets underway, Treecko seems to be a little on the addled side. He tries to Drain Punch Bubba but figures, no, it’s a much better idea to start strangling himself with his own tail. Uh… ouch? Bubba just keeps on sleeping away and lets out one particularly raucous Snore. The incredible burst of sound collides with Treecko, knocking him down and winding him for a moment.

Bubba: <-3 EP; -1 HP from fatigue>

Treecko gives his head a good shake and, just like that, the Confusion subsides. It’s ass-kicking time! Except not really, ‘cause then Paralysis kicks in, and Treecko is left immobile. Grr. Bubba goes for a second Snore, which finds its target and knocks him on his bottom.

Treecko: <-8 HP; Can’t move!>
Bubba: <-3 HP from fatigue>

For the third time this round, Treecko darts in for a Drain Punch… and success is finally his! Geez, finally! How frustrating. At this point, Bubba awakens but chooses not to stand up just yet. Instead, she sits there and regains some of her lost energy.
