Zen doesn't have any experience outside of the SZ so... Let's lead with her!

    [Zen]
    Mienfoo ♀

Lead off with a Taunt, go with a Swords Dance and end with a Poison Jab. In the event of a Protect/Detect or the target is unreachable, go with another Swords Dance.

We don't want the Taunt but we don't want the Swords Dance. Go for a Double Team, then a Reflect to block the physical damage. If you're slower than Zen, use Flame Charge, but if not, use Fire Fang.

Double Team ~ Reflect ~ Flame Charge/Fire Fang

    BEGINNER'S BATTLE
    KUMORI v. SKYE
    TWO on TWO

    ABANDONED SHACK

    It leads to nowhere.

    BANNED MOVES

Attract, Destiny Bond, Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill, Rest, Sheer Cold, Toxic.

    Round ONE
We welcome our two battlers, both recently approved trainers eager to show off their talents. Kumori, who initiated the challenge, summons her growlithe, Ash, to start us off. Skye, meanwhile, goes with a calm mienfoo named Zen. Ash starts the battle off and attempts to create an illusion for his opponent. Zen, however, has a different motive and starts telling Ash that he's flea infested and that his favorite show is probably Jersey Shore. Ash takes great offense to the remarks and says "eff it" to his commands, and instead tackles the fighter.

    Ash ~ Taunted, -3PP // -5HP, -2PP ~ Zen

But the attacks don't stop there, no-no. While Ash is on top of his bipedal foe, he starts chomping down fiercely. Zen doesn't much like this at all, and throws the pup off of her after several moments of frustration. Finally at ease, she closes her eyes and dances around the arena until her strength piles up.

    Ash ~ Taunted, -3PP // -5HP, +2 Atk, -5PP ~ Zen

Zen then races at the fire pup with her right hook covered in slimy poisonous sludge. Ash is still angry, and begins wrapping himself up in a fiery aura. The two collide, and deal their respective damage as Ash barely avoids getting poisoned. Lucky break.

    Ash ~ -3PP, -9HP, +1 Spd // -5HP, -6PP ~ Zen

Well, that may have been a bit awkward, but it could've been worse.

Use Reflect, followed by Sunny Day and then finish with Attract. If you get taunted, use Iron Tail, Iron Head and then go for a Body Slam.

Brick Break on through the Reflect, follow with Rock Slide. For the third... Attract is a banned move, so assuming that it won't be used at all, go with Double Team. If Attract, though it's banned, comes through (I really don't know how that works), respond with another Taunt.

    Round TWO
Feeling a bit embarressed over his first impression, Ash is ready to buckle down and make everything come up Milhouse. With great concentration, Ash creates a protective barrier to keep himself protected from strong physical attacks. However, just as quickly as it comes up does it shatter as Zen pierces it with her swift fists, clobbering Ash with the follow throughh.

    Ash ~ -5PP, Reflect activated, Reflect shattered, -4HP // -4PP ~ Zen

Well, that was certainly a bust. Ash wimpers for a moment, but looks to the bright side of things as the sun flashes brilliantly. Zen shields her eyes from the radience, but ultimately pays it no mind as she hurls a collection of rocks at the fire hound.

    Ash ~ -5PP, Sunny Day activated, -14HP // -5PP ~ Zen
    Sunny Day ~ 8 actions

What's with all this violence, Ash would probably wonder if he could. He gives Zen quite a melting smirk as if trying to woo her into a false sense of security, but... oh, I know that look! He's trying to seduce her! Not on my watch, no way! I blow my referee's whistle and stop that noise post haste! Ash sighs, and gives up trying to make up for his poor fist impression. Zen, meanwhile, has already quadrupled Ash's audience in the meantime.

    Ash ~ Nooope! // +4 Clones, -6PP ~ Zen
    Sunny Day ~ 7 actions

    Ref Notes:
~While Sunny Day is in effect, all fire-type attacks will deal 50% more damage while all water-type attacks will deal 50% less; weather-based healing moves will be 50% stronger; Solar Beam can be fired instantly; pokémon cannot be frozen.~

    Round THREE
Swiftly, Ash gazes at the sweet sunlight, recovering a vast amount of health just before Zen starts with the name calling again. Feeling revitalized, Ash gets angry...

    Ash ~ +22HP, -10PP, Taunted // -2PP ~ Zen
    Sunny Day ~ 6 actions

...and immediately charges at Zen once more, damning her own orders. Zen takes the pummelling quite well considering one of her clones took the hit, and retaliates with a swift right hook that drains away some of the health Ash just recovered.

    Ash ~ -5PP, -8HP, Taunted // +4HP, -5PP, -1 Clone ~ Zen
    Sunny Day ~ 5 actions

With his rage still untempered, Ash unleashes a fierce firestar that crawls across the field and obliterates two of the remaining mienfoo clones, leaving Zen with just one. She doesn't seem too worried, however, and strikes back with another rock slide.

I am an amazing idiot. I've never been so bad at this. Try and spread a Fire Blast to hit Zen and the last clone, but if they're too far away, hit one of them with a Fire Fang. Spam Fire Blast and see where it gets you, anyway.

    Round FOUR
Ash, feeling very perturbed, spits out a fierce fire chain that crawls along the air, wrapping around Zen (who hadn't been paying attention -- summoning rain and all) and causing great damage. Zen shakes it off, and a sudden downpour starts begins, much to Ash's discomfort.

    Ash ~ -9PP // Rain Dance activated, -7PP, -1 Clone, -18HP ~ Zen
    Rain Dance ~ 8 actions

Ash summons another firestar, but the rain manages to diminish it strongly. Zen takes the hit gracefully, and retaliates with another rock slide.

    Ash ~ -9PP, -14HP // -5PP, -6HP ~ Zen
    Rain Dance ~ 7 actions

    And then it happens again...
