On a side note, can we also ban the use of Attract and Toxic please? I may be a bit rusty myself, but I think I can handle more things now than I could a couple of years ago.

Anyway, as much as I wish I could use this battle to help 2 of my unevolved Pokemon evolve, I'm going to instead start with one of the Pokemon I've had since I first joined this ASB a few years ago. Sabre, I need your assistance!

Sabre's my male Absol (ability is Pressure).

Alright Sabre, let's try and do better than we did last time (when I used you in a battle we lost to Metallix's Girl).

Start by Taunting Phoenix, then let's get on the strong offensive side, with a pair of Thunderbolts!

If necessary, Snatch anything you can take away from her, Magic Coat anything back to her that would be affected by Magic Coat, and Faint Attack if she tries going for Mud-Slap. Let's be sure we can limit her options here early on!

Well alright, then. xD Had to give it a try. Thought I was quite clever since Mirror Move itself can't be affected by anything listed (least where I read it). Faint Attack in close, Hurricane, then give it an Air Slash!

Sabre, wait until she hits you with her Faint Attack, then when she's completely visible, use Thunder Wave on her wings so that she'll have a harder time flapping them! After that use Me First + Blizzard to try and use her own Hurricane against her at close range, with the added effect of snow and ice! Basically, let's give her a taste of what Superstorm Sandy brought, heh heh.

Yeah, Mirror Move itself isn't subject to Magic Coat/Snatch/whatever but the moves it calls up can be.

Uh, you might want to edit the first paragraph in regards to the first moves used last round, Oslo...Phoenix got paralyzed, not Sabre.

Anyway Oslo, before I post my next set of moves for Sabre, I have to ask you something, if a Pokemon is completely frozen (whether it's also paralyzed, or not), can it still use Protect to defend itself from moves from the opponent that won't speed up the defrosting process?

Fixed my gaffe, like, twenty minutes ago. Hurr.

It's possible to use non-Fire moves while Frozen, but it's risky. A Protect could theoretically be called up by a Frozen Pokemon, but it might also just fail. It could go either way.

I'm thinking about reevaluating the way I handle the Frz status, but for the time being this stands.

Alright then.

Well Sabre, I have a strong feeling your opponent will use Heat Wave this round to free herself from the ice, so let's start with Mean Look until successful (hopefully it'll work on your first action) so that she hopefully will have little to no choice but to accept staying in the battle (and in your move range) until she is defeated, then use Thunderbolt on your remaining action(s) if you have any left (that is, if she tries doing anything to avoid Mean Look's effects).

If she manages to get free and uses any Specially-based Flying type move (e.g. Air Slash, and especially Hurricane!) or Mud-Slap, use Faint Attack to steer yourself as clear as possible out of the range of that move before striking her...as for after the Taunt wears off (that is, if it wears off before her third action), if on her third action, she tries using any move that involves something you can either Snatch (but not Roost) or redirect back at her with Magic Coat, then be ready to use either of those two moves. Show her that no matter how much she tries to fight back, that she's eventually going to be put into a checkmate position (aka defeated).

Edit: Oslo, there's another thing I nearly forgot to ask as well, if Phoenix had been fully paralyzed on her second action, would Sabre's Me First have failed? I'm a little curious.

I ref it based on what the victim intends to do, so it would have worked regardless of whether Paralysis had flared up. Otherwise, you open yourself up to weird paradoxical situations... like trying to Me First a Fake Out, for example.

Start with Heat Wave, Mean Look is of no consequence to us, then finish with a combination of Aerial Ace and Hurricane!

Hmm, this is the second time I've faced a Quilava...alright.

Sabre, just because your energy is starting to run low doesn't mean you're done quite yet, show Ashes we mean business here, by pelting her with a trio of Stone Edges!

Be ready to Snatch anything you can get from her, or Magic Coat anything back to her that is subject to being reflected back in her direction (but not Will-o-Wisp), and finally, if she uses Dig to try and avoid a Stone Edge hit, send a Swift after her.

Start with a Mud-Slap, then do a combination of Quick Attack to slip through the Stone Edges to blow an Eruption right into Sabre's face.

Hey Oslo, just wondering but are you still using the 1 HP - 2 EP formula whenever a Pokemon's energy hits 0 (aka pretty much the same formula I used as a ref for reffing those kind of situations)?

Oops, that should have been mentioned at the bottom of the first round reffing. But yeah, that's the method I use.

[Skye]

Give him a Brick Break, followed by Flame Charge to keep your speed up, and end with another Brick Break. If he doesn't attack you outright for a turn, substitute your move with a Focus Punch. If he Protects, just relax that turn, and if he tries to use a Counter, give him a nice Heat Wave instead.

Orbius, this is going to be the first time I've used you in battle since you evolved, so let's do our very best here.

Start this round off by using Power Gem then use Bulldoze to try and reduce her speed, finish with another Power Gem.

As alternatives, be ready to use Snatch or Magic Coat if she uses any move subject to being Snatched or reflected back at her (but not Will-o-Wisp; again, we can't afford to waste an action), or if she uses Mud-Slap to try and mess up your strategy, use Whirlwind to catch as much of it as possible and send it back toward her!
