ASB Chat Thread - 2015 Edition. Now with improved posts!

Heh, I think the ASB just is going down because there are really no refs to referee. I know I took a break to concentrate on my stories when no one would update my battles at all, and judging from THE battle going on currently, some others seem to be of the same opinion. So get back soon refs! Hopefully when everyone is back and there are no net problems then some more battles can be started and whoever is looking in won't see a dying part of the forum. :V

That's not entirely true. There are quite a few battles, but with the new forum design, or, the increased inactivity, threads where noone has posted for quite some time will just vanish. They are still there, but are hidden. I really dislike that. Took me some time to find the threeway, as well as fourway again (:

I suppose. I never had trouble logging onto the forum before, but now I am. Not sure why this is just happening and I assumed when everyone else was talking about having trouble getting on, then it was their own internect connection sucking. I can see what they meant now, but hopefully this issue gets resolved soon and we can get this place going again.

Personally, I think the ASB situation here isn't just about the refs...it's also about the battlers.

Being as you can't have an ASB without both battlers and refs, it's not much of a surprise anymore about how quiet ASB has become; it's almost like a "ghost town".

Long story short, it's pointless to ref battles if there are no people to ref for, and on the flip side, if refs end up becoming harder to find, that's going to have a negative effect on battles (you can't have a battle without a ref, and you can't ref if you have no battles to ref).

Its not just ASP that's gone quiet around here. The whole forum is dying.

The only active sections I see are the games section, and Mt Moon.

I mean, no one even responded to my Fan Fiction's first chapters.

Well hopefully this place picks up. Even though I haven't been here for so long I see that there is a lot of history here and I noticed that too. The forum seems to be getting less people on daily. It could just be that with the holidays coming to a close everyone is getting into a schedule now. Hopefully at least.

I'm really happy that everything is able to go back to normal. I still don't feel like coming back, but I might take a reffing or two these weeks. After all, I still have to get some points for the next tree, I've planned something big. When is the next one again? Summer or earlier? (:

I'm guessing the next tree will be happening in the summer, Puma, as Christmas has come and gone for all of us.

It's a real shame that we missed out on having the 2013 ASB Christmas Tree, but the odds of that happening weren't probably all that great anyway...one thing is for sure, we can't let ASB fall apart.

I'm thinking that the key to getting ASB more activity is to start from the root, as in getting people to see that there is activity here...if it begins to increase but at a slow rate at first, maybe the rate of activity will gradually get better (that's just my two cents).

I'm in agreement Knight. If we start showing that there is activity here and don't let a month or two pass since a post then it'll show those that want to join that this place isn't dead. I know I have glanced over forums and if they haven't had a post in three months I usually back away from it. So we need to ensure that doesn't happen, at least to the ASB.

Yeah, I have to make sure that this time, if people leave, there's a steady stream of people that can fill roles so others can move on, self sustainability and all that.

No worries. The posting will become more frequent, as now I can post in my usual 10 minute manner.

I'm up for that. Heh, never tried a contest or such in this sort of way. I've seen previous contests since I browse here and there and the ones I did see looked cool enough.

TPM as a whole is dying because, sad as it may be to say, it just doesn't have a use anymore.

Want to know the latest in Pokemon news? This place is totally overshadowed by the likes of Serebii.net, Bulbapedia, and Nintendo's own site(s).
Want to battle Pokemon with strangers on the Internet? Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum made that possible and the games since then have all ran with the concept. Even if you don't have one of those games, there are ONLINE Pokemon battle simulators now. ASB is utterly obsolete.
Want to write or roleplay? Only a tiny sub-section of this group remains here anyway, but again, there are many more options like Fanfiction.net and the 20 trillion RP rooms on sites like dA, not to mention sites dedicated specifically TO roleplaying.
Or do you just want to talk to friends you've made on the forums/show them stuff you like? Instant messaging made that kind of pointless long ago, but the advent of sites like Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter has more or less nailed the coffin shut.

So what does that leave us with? Tech support and Mt. Moon. You can get both of those on 4chan much faster and with much more unwarranted vitriol.

I don't get the concept of Monopol. You just throw play money to everyone and go around a town full of hotels. I'd rather go to Island Closest to Heaven in Final Fantasy VIII world to meet some Malboros with no GF junctioned.

I'm presuming you don't know much about Monopoly, Mikachu, but I can give you a little information about the game.

Luck is a major factor in Monopoly; from whoever gets the first roll (highest number on the dice), to where you land every time you roll the dice when it's your turn. Players begin each game with $1,500, and they go around the board, doing things such as buying properties, paying rent (when landing on an opponent's property), developing properties once you have a complete colour group (this means that when you own both or all of the properties in a single colour group, such as the oranges, you can build, aka put houses or hotels on properties in the group that aren't mortgaged)...the main objective is to bankrupt your opponents (without getting bankrupt yourself) so that they get caught in a situation where they owe more money than what they have on hand.

I personally haven't played this game in years myself, however, this new mega edition has me tempted...with a bunch of new features including a 50% bigger board, new properties, a third die, new $1,000 bills, etc., it's something I can't really pass up if I'm lucky enough to find it somewhere.
