    Question Internet relics

Do you ever find something on the Internet one day, and then when you try to locate it years later, you simply can't?

I have this phenomenon all the time, and I dwell on it more than most.

One of them (and I'm pretty sure it was shared here on TPM) was a gaming forum (Probably GameFAQs) where somebody posted a thread saying something like "does anyone else think the gba is too small it hurts my nads when I play"

I can't find it for the life of me.

It happens to me mostly when I watch Japanese videos on Youtube. Although I know a fair deal of Japanese and know how to type it with the keyboard support, I forget the keywords. From the top of my head, there was this Japanese song with the 2014 Winter Olympic games and I've lost it. I found it actually twice, but somehow forgot to memorize any part of the name.

I remember that and I believe that was me that shared that!

It was on gamefaqs, but I think the link may have been an archive link.

EDIT: Seems like it's mentioned here, maybe that's a lead. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards...2276540?page=2

That's incredible, exactly the quote I was looking for.

I suspect this reference is as close as we'll come, but I'm grateful to at least have the verbatim line revived in my memory.

    Thank you!

Yeah looks like it's gone forever. I looked high and low.

I actually recall though that the link wasn't actually an 'archive link' - it was someone that saved the thread html and uploaded it elsewhere like on angelfire ortripod or some hosting site. I just remember the url ending with "nads.html" like it had been uploaded somewhere. So it might still be out there. Wish I could find it, the replies were golden.

Anyway - as for the question, yes definitely a few.

With YTMND seemingly fully recovered after being under maintenance and a "catastrophic failure", there are some sound-bites that I only ever heard there without knowing where they originally came from and some of them didn't make the recovery cut. So my only hope is to randomly stumble upon them some day.

But in the midst of the trend of "dramatic readings" (like 'you make me touch your hands for stupid reasons'), there was this one guy who would do narrated readings of awful fanfics written by 12 year olds, pronouncing every typo, he was hysterical. His name is Chan88 if you're interested. Most of his are back, but there are a few missing.

There's a reason I maintain a special file folder for certain stuff. Things on the Internet, contrary to the common saying, are not always out there forever.

Something that now apparently a few porn stars wish this applied to them.

    Cool Re: Internet relics

This seems to be even more common now that Google has stopped indexing pages older than 10 years. (See this and this for evidence.) If you're fortunate enough to have the URL for an old website, you might be able to find it in the Wayback Machine, but otherwise you're out of luck.

I recently spent a very long time looking for an old forum called BAHR (Bionicle After Hours Reincarnation) which I believe was a spin-off forum from the BZPower Bionicle forums. Funnily enough, I never owned or cared about Bionicle, I just liked posting on the forum about unrelated topics back around 2001-2004. My investigations revealed that it was probably hosted on InvisionFree, whose archives were unfortunately lost long ago.

At least TPM is still around.

A Grilled Fish! That's a name I haven't seen in a long time. Perhaps even an Internet relic in and of itself!

I don't mean to call you a relic, I just mean I hadn't seen your name in many years... Times have changed so much!

Speaking of Internet relics... Looks like this webcomic still exists, even though it hasn't been updated in ages. http://www.elfonlyinn.net/
