McDonald’s 25th anniversary Pokemon cards

Anybody else here collecting (or trying to collect) the Pokémon cards that are currently being given away in Happy Meals? I guess it has been crazy in some places, with some McDonald’s allowing people to buy unlimited cards without purchasing food... fortunately it hasn’t been nearly that bad here... McDonald’s around here have been making people buy the actual meals to get the cards... which I am glad, it’s more expensive, but makes it more fair for everyone... I’ve gotten a Happy Meal most of the days of the promotion so far lol. I am only 4 cards away from the complete set of common cards, and I am at 11/25 for the foil cards... although ironically I already have the complete set of Fire type starters in the foil cards. Not sure if I am gonna try for the whole foil set but hoping to at least get a full set of the commons. I don’t think I’ve had this many days of Happy Meals since Teenie Beanie Babies ^_^

I'd be all over this if it was in Australia. Reminds me of when Burger King briefly had the plushes and I was desperate to get a Vulpix.

I highly doubt I'll collect any of the cards. A few reasons here; one, I'm not into collecting Pokemon cards, two, the main kinds of cards I collect are playing cards and sports cards (mostly hockey cards, but I do have some baseball cards too), and three, it's been several years since I collected some cards (besides playing cards).

On the other hand, I do like to get McDonald's every now and then, but I haven't gone for a Happy Meal since I was a kid. Nonetheless, good luck on the card collecting, Christen!

Oh wow, I never knew of a Burger King Vulpix plush... must not have been in the US, either that or I just missed it. I did get the old Gold plated cards from BK.

But the hamburgers are so small!

They kinda are... and Happy Meals aren't cheap, but the Cheeseburgers are still good... even though they really don't taste like cheeseburgers.... actually nothing at McDonalds really tastes like what it should taste like IMO, but I still like it way more than I should haha

I have some Pokemon cards, I haven't gotten any in a long time though outside of these McDonald's ones... its kinda gotten to the point where there are just so many out there, and its just confusing with how many different sets there are now.

Thank you... yeah I do like McDonald's too... and I do kinda feel a little silly ordering Happy Meals too... but at the same time, I'm not really tired of them yet, I alternate between cheeseburger and chicken mcnuggets depending on my mood. I wish they would let me get the Spicy McNuggets in my Happy Meal but they won't lol. Didn't get any Mickey D's today but probably will get another Happy Meal tomorrow... I would like to wrap up getting the common card set complete... but I will probably look to eBay for prices for the rest of the foils cards and see what the price is... that is just gonna be way too expensive and way too many calories trying to complete the foil set naturally lol and I don't know how true it is, but supposedly the Pikachu foil card is supposed to be very hard to find.

This was in Canada back in 1998, so I would have assumed it would have been Stateside as well?

Found an article that mentions them - and hey! There's also an entry for the gold plated cards, too.

Thanks for the article! Now that i see them, I vaguely remember the KFC Pokemon plush, Vulpix is definitely awesome!! I didnt get those though, i hadn't quite been bitten by the Pokemon bug yet, plus KFC is much rarer in my neck of the woods compared to McDonalds and Burger King... plus my world was a lot smaller then, since i didn't have a computer/internet until August 1999, so I wasn't as aware of stuff like this... back then for me internet consisted of going to the library and getting on an old computer with 1 color of text and no pictures haha. In 1998 I was all in on Beanie Babies lol
