New Pokémon Snap

So, who amongst you will get the new Snap game that'll be released in a good month?

Personally I enjoyed the N64 original from way back when. It was an original concept and I was surprised they never bothered to make another.
From what I heard it will have many similarities to its predecessor and will be another 'rail shooter', which makes sense to me.

I'll be getting it as well, naturally. Fingers crossed that it'll be fun. Over 200 Pokémon to take photos of if memory serves me right.

I wonder if they'll ever make games again from other 'forgotten' franchises, like Pokémon Rancher.

Wasn't Pokemon Ranch poorly received? Given the poor reception, that's one game I doubt they will do a remake of.

My Pokémon Ranch didn't get the best reviews so given that it's not likely we'll see it again.

I meant the Pokémon Ranger games though (misspelled that earlier). There were three of those and at least the first two seemed to have been successful.
I wasn't that fond of them personally because of the strange capturing system it had (using the stylus to draw circles around the Pokémon).

The capture system for Pokemon Ranger was a turn off for me so I never played any of the games in the Ranger series.

It would be nice to have an AR Pokemon Snap game for the 3DS.

I like Pokemon and I likee taking photos, so maybe, if it looks good and I can afford it and it doesn't require a paid subscription to anything.

As far as I know, you don't need a subscription to play it. You will however need a Nintendo subscription to share your pictures with other people.

I fear the 3DS is pretty much dead, I doubt they'll release future games for it.

It really is like a remake of the original Snap, a rail-shooter with lots of Pokémon to take pictures of. Pretty well done, I'm not sure yet though whether it will be able to keep my attention as much as the original did. Also the price seems rather steep for what you get.

While I wait to get it, I've been playing Digimon Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory.

I never played any Digimon games myself. I'm surprised the franchise is still going, seems pretty dead here.

This is actually my first time playing a Digimon game. It's not a bad game but it's very dialogue heavy. There have been a number of times when I wish the dialogue would end so I can get back to playing the game. That's my only real complaint about the game.

I’ve got Snap, I’m thoroughly enjoying it so far It’s nice to have a game so chilled at the moment; my little boy is so fussy, I can cuddle him and play just fine.

It's just not vibing with me the way the original did, but it's not for a lack of trying. If anything, I suspect it's a me thing, and another indication that modern gaming just doesn't grab me anymore. I don't garner a sense of accomplishment from snapping a good photo, though it could be because Prof Mirror is a much more lenient grader than Oak was.

How are into the game are you guys? I've unlocked six courses so far... to be honest I don't even know what I need to do next to proceed, take photos of some flowers I guess but they never glow.

I think I’ve got 8 places unlocked now? There’s definitely a glowy flower in each level. There was one underneath a Pokemon once. Had to throw apples at it to find it. There are ruins in some levels too that you need to take pics of.

I don’t like it when sometimes you think you’ve taken the most amazing pic, and prof Mirror thinks otherwise. Especially when you compare it to what’s in your Photodex.

Yeah, the Professor not liking your cool pictures is annoying... I guess what counts the most are the size of the Pokemon and whether they look at you or not. Centralizing the image helps too. The other categories seem very arbitrary.

I finally got my copy of the game yesterday. I haven't had much time to play yet so I'm still early in the game. I'm getting ready to do the first night time mission.

So far, I think the game is okay.

I finished the game yesterday, unlocked all the zones and I think I took pictures of all the Pokémon. I will still pick it up now and then though.

Sounds like you're doing a lot of exploring there. You should continue to unlock zones though; it also adds new Pokémon or new Pokémon poses and actions to previous zones.

I've since beaten the storyline and have unlocked all of the zones and visited all of them. I haven't 100% completed the game but I'm not really interested in doing that. As far as I'm concerned I've beaten the game and unless I get bored and need something to do, I'm done with it.

I haven't gotten around to trying the new levels yet. I'm currently playing Duke Nuken 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition. Once I'm done with that, I'm going to give these new levels a go.

I only tried them once so far myself. I heard Mew is in the game now too, like in the original.
