Well, this is it. At the beginning, 64 characters that have entered this melee. There was the famous chipmunk Alvin, the portal master Rudy, the wanted outlaw Vash, and the brilliant swordsman Samurai Jack, among others. The competition has finally ended (And the moderators can close this thread if they want to), and the winner is none other than Calvin!

Calvin and Hobbes was a comic strip that lasted for a little over ten years about a six-year-old philosopher named Calvin and his equally-intellectual stuffed tiger, Hobbes. Bill Watterson, the cartoonist, grew increasingly tired over the rules and regulations given to him by the syndicate (more specifically, The American Syndicated Press) and retired in December 31st, 1995. Watterson now focuses on painting and playing music.

But how is a series about a little boy and his best friend so amusing? Calvin is such a troublemaker that he has becme the arch-enemy of almost everyone he sees, from Miss Wormwood, his teacher, to his very own parents, to Rosalyn, the occasional babysitter. I can't explain the humor Watterson uses, except that it's far above what a six-year-old should find funny. f you haven't read any Calvin and Hobbes, go to your local bookstore and find a collection. Why not?

The match was never close. Rocko juggernauted his way to the Finals, beating Mickey Mouse in the Semifinals to get there. But Calvin was an even more threatening juggernaut--he beat Homer Simpson in the same round. Votes were coming in at a two-to-one ratio in favor of Calvin, until the very end, when the last vote for Calvin threw off the steady 66.667% he was receiving. For all of you wishing to see Rocko go down, here it is. For those of you who want to avenge the fall of Vash the Stampede, you're out of luck.
Round 1: Calvin beat InuYasha 14-6 (70.000%)
Round 2: Calvin beat Shrek 18-3 (85.714%)
Round 3: Calvin beat Wallace 25-6 (80.645%)
Quarterfinals: Calvin beat Vash the Stampede 21-13 (61.765%)
Semifinals: Calvin beat Homer Simpson 24-18 (57.143%)
Finals: Calvin beat Rocko 17-8 (68.000%)
Whoopage Ratio: 70.545%

Also, nominations are now open for The Winter 2003 Cartoon Character Contest! This time, there will be five Divisions of 16, ending in a 5-person battle royale! But not actually battling. You'll still be voting. There are a few rules for nominating a character though.
1. You may nominate up to five (5) characters.
2. One character per series in the tournament. That means if Kenny McCormick (South Park) was already in the tournament, that means no Eric Cartman or Wendy Testaberger or Uncle Jimbo.
3. The top four contestants for the first four Divisions in this contest will automatically be in the 2nd (rearranged if needed). Division 5 lacks four strong competitors, so there will be three instead.
4. If any of your selections can't be put into the tournament, it doesn't count against your five.
5. When a Division is full, nominations for that Division are closed. That's pretty easy to figure out.
6. The nominations from GameFAQs are in this list as well.
