    Default The ASB Ladder

    The ASB Ladder

    Current Rankings

    Joining Information

    - The ASB Ladder will run from 1st January 2010 to 30th June 2010 inclusive.
    - Approval to the Ladder is automatic; all you have to do is reply to this thread stating you are joining the Ladder. You must then pay 5 points to the Ladder and link to the bank post here please.
    - You must also register 6 Pokemon as your Ladder Squad in your Joining Post. Please list the gender AND species of the Pokemon as well. A picture is not a sufficient substitute.

    Battling Information

    - All battles will be 3 versus 3, one Pokemon out at a time. It is at both the trainers' discretion who attacks first, who sends first, and what the arena is.
    - Ladder matches must have [LADDER] at the beginning of the thread title.
    - Ladder matches must be stated as Ladder Matches before the first reffing is made. No match can be made or unmade a ladder match once the first reffing has been made.
    - All matches will have a damage cap of 50.
    - All non-damaging healing attacks are banned.
    - Abilities are not in effect for the duration of the ladder.
    - No Signature Moves
    - There is a 20-round Cap. After the 20th Round has been reffed, the match immediately ends and is declared a draw if both trainers have a Pokemon left.
    - You may only use Pokemon from the 6 you have registered as your Ladder Squad.
    - DQ Time is 72 hours, after which time the trainer is automatically disqualified.
    - You may switch Pokemon mid-battle. This will take one action, and is always the first action used. However, you may not then use a new Pokemon in place of the one you have switched. Once a Pokemon has been sent out, it counts as one of the three available for the battle.
    - No items.
    - Only Intermediate ranked or higher referees may referee Ladder matches.

    Ranking Information

    - Trainers will be ranked according to the number of points they accrue and the number of battles they have fought, developing a Coefficient that will determine their ranking in the ladder.
    - The points are calculated as so:
    - - Win: 3 points
    - - Draw (Win): 2 points
    - - Draw (Loss): 1 point
    - - Loss: 0 points

    - A Win occurs when you defeat your opponent either by knocking out all 3 of your opponent’s Pokemon or if your opponent is disqualified.
    - A Draw occurs if the round cap is hit and both trainers still have Pokemon standing, however, a draw can either be a winning draw or a losing draw. The winner of a draw is decided by whomever has the most Pokemon remaining, then by how much HP their Pokemon on the field has left, then by the EP. If they are still equal, each will be awarded 1.5 points.
    - You will get 0 points if all 3 of your Pokemon are knocked out or if you are disqualified.
    - The ranking coefficient will be worked out by dividing the number of points accrued by the total number of battles fought multiplied by three, then plus 1. This number is then multiplied by 100. Mathematically:

    100*(Total Points) / 3*(Total Battles+1)

    Ladder Information

    - You can only change your 6 registered Pokemon during the transfer window, which will occur between 1st – 7th April, inclusive. You must declare your squad changes in the Ladder Tower. This effectively means you cannot trade Pokemon that are registered
    - You may evolve or change the Forme of the same Pokemon without penalty at any time during the Season. Evolutions must be reported to the Ladder Tower, but you may choose the Forme of your Pokemon before it is sent out in each individual battle (so you could use a Mow-Rotom in one ladder match and the same Rotom as a Fan-Rotom in the next match).
    - You can only challenge Trainers who are directly 3 places above, below, or the same rank as you.

    Example:

Trainer A is ranked 6th. He can only challenge or be challenged by someone who is ranked 3rd place, 9th place or anyone in between, including someone who is the same rank. This effectively means a Trainer has a challenge range of 7 ranks.

    - Those who do not have a coefficient (or, more accurately, have just joined and have zero points) may only challenge other unranked trainers or must challenge anyone who is in the lower half of the ladder ranking. If there are an odd number of trainers in the ladder, round up for working out the half you can challenge.
    - No new battles may begin after 23:59 GMT on 20th June. This effectively means no battles may begin on and after 21st June.
    - At 23:59 GMT 30th June, all battles will end and those that are left unfinished will be counted as a draw, and the last available reffing will be used as the basis of scoring.
    - Whoever is the highest ranked at 00:00GMT on 1st July will be the champion.
    - Prizes are allocated as follows:
    1st Place = 50%
    2nd Place = 20%
    3rd Place = 15%
The other 15% will be distributed by the Ladder Heads for other awards, which have yet to be decided.
    - You may be in as many Ladder matches as you wish, although these count towards the ASB match limit as set forth.
    - Points from battles are the same as regular matches. Even though all matches will be 3 on 3, points are worked out according to how many Pokemon fainted, as normal.
    - It is up to the winner to notify the Ladder Heads (in this thread) that they have finished their battle so they can be tallied and coefficients changed.

    ---

So, sign-ups are now in effect. You may sign-up and register now, as well as find opponents and refs and even list attacks. However, the first round may not be reffed until 1st January 2010.
