round one
The afternoon sky lofts lazily overhead as two ASBL "veterans" walk into the vacant arena. There are no spectators, there are no vendors, there is only them two. The fluffy clouds in the sky mask the bright sun as it continues to rain heavenly light upon the earth. 'becca, moniker: The_Missing_Link, calls out to the other trainer with her pointer finger pointing directly at him, "Chris 2.0," she said, using his moniker, "you have been challenged. Bring out your pokémon: two of them!" Her poise was confident enough to be considered cocky, but not enough to be considered arogant.
Chris looked at his self-proclaimed "adversary" with a smug look upon his features, "Two of them, you say," he smirked, "very well then, mate." It was evident in his accent that he wasn't from around these parts. The younger, male trainer fingered through the several poké balls on his belt until he stopped on "her's". She will do, he thought to himself, whilst simultaneously unhinging the tiny ball from its holster. With the press of a button, the poké ball enlarged to the size of his hand; he instantly tossed the ball to the ground, "I choose Solvee!"
The ball slapped against the clay floor twice before exploding in a rush of white energy. A tiny fox-like pokémon stepped out of the ball. She was one of many eevee's that have recently flooded the ASBL; however, it wasn't certain whether or not she'd face evolution. The young and brisk eevee yawned loudly, perhaps signifying that she had just awoken from her "beauty sleep". Either that, or she was a very lazy pokémon. 'becca wasted no time in selecting her creature. As the red and white colored ball hit the ground, it too released a pokémon unlike Chris' eevee.
"Ty-rooogue," he shouted confidently. He was a fighting pokémon with a pinkishly purple skin. He had a certain "bring it on" expression on his face that could only be matched by the overly-clichéd male animé characters you see primarily on TV-Tokyo.
As both pokémon glared at one another, the chillingly cool background music started, Who's in a bunker? Who's in a bunker? Women and children first; And the children first; And the children; I'll laugh until my head comes off; I'll swallow until I burst until I burst until I...
Tapping his feet to the oddly amusing beat of Radiohead, Locke closes his eyes and concentrates a little whilst Solvee waits idly by; one by one, five tyrogue clones flicker into the arena surrounding the original (6% – Tyrogue). The attack was called "double team", and what it did was create the illusion of multiple targets so that the attacker would have a difficult time aiming. However, the clones were heavily susceptible to enemy attack, and could only stay "active" if they remained unharmed. Concordantly, if the user was harmed in any way, his or her concentration on the clones would lapse, and he would lose them completely. Using such a technique isn't too hard to pull off, actually; it's only lightly taxing. However, repeated uses of the attack would begin to cause mental strain, and fewer clones would appear as a result.
Solvee cautiously took a few steps back, but not out of fear. The smaller eevee was actually giving herself more of an aiming radius; it was apparent that her trainer intended for her to destroy the illusions with a widespread technique. The eevee closed her eyes before shooting out five stars (5% – Solvee). The stars' radius was large, and it scraped quickly along the various clones, causing them all to vanish instantly; one actually managed to strike the "true" tyrogue, dealing minimal damage (3% – Locke). The idea behind "swift", as it was called, was that the user fired off a barrage of star-shaped bullets at his or her foe. Because of the velocity of the attack, it was quite difficult to dodge, making it an ideal manuever to counter a double team. There are quite a few elemental varients to this technique as well. The damage from these techniques is often minimal, but it is often one of the most useful.
Grunting in annoyance, Locke began to wind back his dominant fist. His energy level was still high, so he was quite confident in this technique. It was called "dizzy punch"; Locke continued to whirl his fist about impatiently as his opponent, Solvee, furiously dug into the clay floor in hopes to avoid the attack. Clumps of dirt were flung into the air as she managed to dig a hole quickly enough. Locke thrust his right fist (4% – Locke), managing only to hit the air in front of him as Solvee panted in her ditch (5% – Solvee).
The young fox immediately leapt out of her hole whilst simultaneously bashing the rogue in the torso (5% – Locke; 2% – Solvee). The young fighter, however, was prepared. Before she could even hit the ground, Locke slamed his right fist into her with an incredible speed (8% – Solvee; 6% – Locke). Solvee yelped in pain as the force of her opponent's fist knocked her a few feet away. She pulled herself together fairly quickly, however, whilst staring angrily at her foe.
the results
The music continues to blare from an undisclosed location as both trainers tighten their grips on the air. The_Missing_Link, having chosen her attack volley first during the round, now goes second during round two.
