“What you see is what you get.” This seems to be the motto of the human race in the modern day. People believe that they exist in a simple world where all the unknowns have been discovered and that life is merely something to be conquered with work, family and death. However, this is a belief that hinders the true sight of the earthen realm.

Karakura Town, is a prime example of the truth. Most humans who live here are normal, everyday people who do go to work, exist with family and know that the end of the road lies with a simple death. Yet, there are a few exceptions to this “blind sight.” Some of the humans – primarily the youth- have slowly begun to realize that the earth is not all that it seems. Strange occurrences have happened- unexplained explosions, mysterious movement, blurred figures that almost are catchable by the eye. Soon they will see the truth… and find themselves falling into another world that is nothing they could prepare themselves for.

Shinigami and Hollows. For ages they have been in a struggle, battling each other for centuries to maintain the balance of the world. Shinigami live in what humans call, “Heaven” or more importantly, Soul Society. In Soul Society, it is extremely difficult for a normal soul to be chosen to become a Shinigami. However, once chosen the Shinigami train to become accepted into one of the 13 squads. All 13 work together (some with few conflicts), led by Captains and their Lieutenants, to primarily go out to the Earthen realm to destroy Hollows and perform Soul Burials to bring reluctant or lost souls to Soul Society. This is the way things have been for centuries.

Hollows however live in Hueco Mundo and serve as the antagonists to the Shinigami. They create black rifts to enter the Earthen realm and feed on lost souls upon the Earth. They are formed when a soul dies and is in despair or remains upon Earth too long. Hollows have many ranks and secrets as well, matching the Shinigami. Yet… not even Soul Society or Hollows could comprehend the future events that will dramatically change their world as well the entirety of Heaven and Hueco Mundo.

And the worlds of humans, Shinigami, and Hollows will collide. With a select few humans with growing spiritual energy, a few dutiful (or not so dutiful) Shinigami, and some rogue Hollows… everything will be spun into motion. When nighttime starts to rise while the sun does fall… just before twilight…

    CHARACTER GUIDE

    HUMANS

Humans with high spiritual energy usually develop their powers over time. They either are born with high spiritual energy or gain it by being around someone who already has an amazing amount of spiritual energy. Having a lot of spiritual energy allows a human to see Shinigami, Hollows and supernatural things. Some (very rare) humans gain unique powers due to their spiritual energies. These powers are usually discovered when put under a stressful and life-threatening situation. Humans in the RPG will play a vital role and are needed.
    MAX AMOUNT: 4 Humans

    SPECIAL: QUINCY

The Quincy were a clan of special spiritual-aware humans who fought hollows long ago using bows made up of spiritual energy. Quincy use the spiritual energy from their surroundings and absorb and channel it to fight. They are presumed extinct however, due to a Shinigami campaign that led to the extermination of the clan 200 years ago. While Shinigami release Hollow souls when destroying them which allows them to enter Soul Society, the Quincy clan destroyed the Hollow soul entirely. 200 years ago the Quincy clan was so proficient at it that they were upsetting the balance of souls and thus it led to their extermination.
    MAX AMOUNT: 2

    SHINIGAMI

Shinigami are souls selected in Soul Society to become Soul Reapers. The Elite Shinigami serve in the 13 Divisions. Some divisions have a specialty, but all Shinigami have Zanpakuto, supernatural swords, that they use to channel their own energy for fighting. Each Zanpakuto has a name (the sword has its own separate identity, so a Shinigami does not give it a name but rather learns it from the sword itself) and is unique. Shinigami also know the art of Kido, which is a form of magic to fight. Shinigami can have specific and special duties, but they are primarily known for defeating hollows and releasing their souls, as well as leading other souls (pluses) to Soul Society by performing a Soul Burial.
    NOTABLE SHINIGAMI SQUADS:
    2nd Division - Intelligence Gathering/Internal Defense
4th Division – Medical/Supply Division (They be healers)
5th Division - Demon Arts Specialists (They're good with swords too)
    9th Division - Recon Division
11th Division – Combat Division (special in swordsman ship)
    12th Division- Research/Scientific Division
Shinigami Ranks: Captain, Lieutenant, 3rd Command, 4th etc… (For each squad).

    * YOU CAN BE A MADE-UP SHINIGAMI OR YOU CAN PLAY AN ALREADY MADE SHINIGAMI FROM BLEACH. IF YOU WISH TO BE A MADE UP CAPTAIN, YOU MAY PLAY AS A CAPTAIN BUT CAPTIANS/LIEUTENANTS NOT TAKEN WILL BE PLAYED AS THE NPCs ALREADY CREATED IN BLEACH.

MAX AMOUNT OF, CAPTAINS: 3, LIEUTENANT: 5, OTHER: INFINITE

    HOLLOWS

Spirits that have unfinished business and stay on Earth for too long often turn into Hollows. Other spirits become filled with such despair or negative feelings that they turn into Hollows from this. Once they turn into Hollows, they often travel to the Earthen realm to eat lost souls. Depending on the soul that was turned into a Hollow, different Hollows have various intelligence- some being mindless while others are vastly intelligent and have greater power. Hollows do not have a ranking order, but can/do follow commands from a sub group of Hollows, called Menos. Menos are formed when a bunch of Hollows merging together to create another entity. Their power is far superior to that of a regular Hollow and they give Shinigami a harder time to the point that only specially trained Shinigami are sent to deal with a Menos.
    CLASSES of MENOS:
GILLIAN CLASS – Weaker than a Shinigami lieutenant, they are the lowest of the Menos. They all look the same- giant black cloaked-looking Hollows with the same round white faces. They are still powerful in comparison to regular Hollows.
ADJUCHAS CLASS – The Medium class of Menos. They could fight evenly with a lieutenant. Adjuchas class Menos look humanoid, but are obviously not human. Usually they are wide and bulky but are fairly intelligent. They can watch over Gillian class Menos. There are not many Adjuchas menos.
VASTO LORDE CLASS – Most powerful form of Menos. They appear mostly humanoid and are more powerful than an average Shinigami Captain. They are extremely powerful and tend to reside deep in Hueco Mundo.

MAX AMOUNT OF, VASTO LORDE MENOS: 2, ADJUCHAS: 3, GILLIAN: 0, HOLLOW: INFINITE

    * Some of you may be familiar with the Arrancar class or the Vizard. If you wish to play them, you may but I expect that you know the specifics of what they are. Keep in mind that since they are so powerful, you must keep your character in check and they will play a mentor role in the beginning more than anything. Their max amount is negotiable.

This RPG will start with the normal Bleach plot. However, once it takes place in Soul Society the plot may change depending on our characters. If the plot it not progressing naturally, I will add my own events to keep it moving. If you wish to have some say in the plot or have any ideas… please feel free to IM me. Also, please only sign up if you will try your best to be dedicated. I HIGHLY recommend to sign up with Bleach knowledge and if you have none, that is okay. Please study up on the links I have provided! ^_^

Also, you may play up to 3 characters if you can handle it. I recommend 2 or 1 however.

    Name: Yamashita, Kumiko

    Gender: Female

    Age: Appears to be mid-twenties

Appearance: Kumiko wears the traditional black Shinigami uniform. Her one quirk in her uniform is that she wears the sash around her waist so that the ribbon-like tie is to the side, upon her hip. She stands at a medium height for a female shinigami, being around 5’7. Like the common theme in bleach, she has a sizable bust but her bust is slightly smaller than Orihime’s. Kumiko has interesting hair coloring- for it isn’t a solid color, but a mixture of streaks of blonde, light brown, light auburn and strawberry blonde. When let down, her hair reaches down slightly above her waist and is extremely straight with only a slight wave. However, she usually wears it up into a half-ponytail so that half of it is tucked under while the top layer hangs downwards. Kumiko’s eyes are a rich royal blue in color with a few small flecks of sea green blue ebbed into them. They’re generally very feminine and large, usually giving away her mood.

Personality: Kumiko is generally extremely cheerful, but not in a bubbly way. She always has a smile upon her face but it usually is her eyes that are the dead give away to her mood. While she respects her Captain dearly and is loyal to him, she does tend to have a wild streak at times and goes by the motto of her own ‘instincts’. She often takes on a commanding role however, due to Ukitake’s sickness and oversees a lot of the training in Division 13. She is down-to-earth and good natured, but when she battles she shifts her mood to be a bit of a calculating and battle-happy opponent. (She was almost recruited for Division 11, but her lack of complete lust allured her to Ukitake instead.)

    Rank: Lieutenant of Division 13

Powers: Kumiko is known for her relationship with her Zanpakuto and her skill. While she isn’t the fastest, strongest and doesn’t have notably massive amounts of spiritual energy like the captains… she makes up for it in reaction times, finesse and her bond. She is one of the few who can Bankai, not due to her spiritual strength but because of her natural inclination of attachment to her Zanpakuto (and it’s mutual attachment.) This is a surprise to many, due to the fact that most need a great amount of training before being able to control their bankai effectively. She rarely uses her bankai however, but rather enjoys fighting with her shikai due to the difficulty. She is dangerous in battle due to the fact that her skill to wield her weapon often catches enemies offguard- for she turns her disadvantages to advantages with a simple flick of her sword.

    Zanpakuto: His name is Kanlong.
Kanlong’s shikai is a medium-lengthed sword. However, the handle of the sword is built into the blade but has several wrappings and a round handle shape so not to damage. The tricky thing, is that around the top of the handle curves two deadly knife-like ends that point slightly inward, making it very difficult to wield if you are not highly accustomed to the sword. On the opposite end of the handle is just one knife-like jutting edge, which points outwards. However, about three quarters upwards from the sword are four prong-like end that come out and then jut upwards. (Think of a cubed trident with four prongs in the shape of half a box.) This makes plunging the sword into the enemy extremely painful, especially if the four prongs enter as well. At the end of her Shikai, is a long but thin chain. At the very end of this chain, is a red feather-like decoration which infact can turn into a small blade. The chain also lengthens or shortens.
Kanlong in Bankai form is a bit more complicated. When activating Bankai, Kumiko’s outfit adorns a black shinigami-esque dress that cuts off at the thighs and is sleeveless, rimmed in white. Around her right arm is a golden & black tattoo of a dragon tail, that extends down towards her hand. From her hand is a small chain, but from the chain is a glowing and viberant gold ‘whip’ like weapon. However, the whip glows with a crackling energy that isn’t fire but similar with its burning glow. The whip can extend to great distances. Attached to Kumiko’s back are metallic wings, made into a similar shape of Kanlong in Shikai form as feather-like devices. However, the wings do not allow Kumiko to fly but mainly serve a last minute shield. The most impressive and effect part of the Bankai however, Kanlong reveals himself in a more deadly form. A Chinese red dragon wraps its long body in a circle so that you do not see its tail at all (and some question if it really is there or if it is just the front half of the body since the whip represent’s Kanlong’s tail). However, Kanlong’s head and front limbs are clearly visible although his body does not move from his spot but only his long slender neck and head. Kanlong’s scales gleam in a metallic fashion, rippling of red and he seems to always have a rather cruel smile upon his face. What he can do is a secret! MWHA!
Kanlong’s true form (visible form) is a large Chinese dragon, however he has no element but seems to use pure spiritual energy.

History: Kumiko became a Shinigami much like most Shinigami in Soul Society, for she was selected due to her spiritual energy. During training, she was not viewed as very impressive by her peers at first since she showed no great strengths. However, Kumiko was bright and did well in classes. Training continued, and suddenly Kumiko swiftly rose in ability in her training. Her peers could not figure it out, but her mentors saw that with her bright mind she had huge potential in the way she used her Zanpakuto and the skill she demonstrated in combat. Not only did she have instincts but she could calculate to alter her main battle style to exploit the weaknesses of her opponents. She then was admitted into Soul Society under Team 13. Her power continued to grow as many noticed that her bond between her Zanpakuto grew unnaturally fast. It wasn’t long before Kumiko was well known and sometimes sought out for advice on growing bonds between themselves and their swords. When Shiba passed away, Kumiko was recruited as the Lieutenant although Kumiko feels inadequate when in comparision to him and despite what others tell her, she worries about it inwardly.

Relations: None yet, I’d like to wait to see what others do when they sign up. I’d love to accept relations though!! ^_^

    Other: BLAH!!

    Yamashita Kumiko
    .: F | Shinigami | Lt. 13th Division :.

Kumiko swung her Zanpakuto in the air, twirling her body around as if she were dancing. Her eyes were closed as she focused upon the area around her, making several movements as if she were half-fighting and half-dancing. The air was fresh and clear out side of the Division 13 headquarters. Every morning Kumiko practiced her regular finesse routine. Opening her eyes, Kumiko gave out a slight cry as she cleanly sliced through the air- cutting a few of the leaves that fell from the tree. She drew back and prepared to slice the leaves in a different way, however a voice caused her to gracefully turn her swing into a motion to sheath her Zanpakuto.

“Ah, I’m sorry to bother you Kumiko-san.” Captain Ukitake spoke softly, sitting down upon the wooden steps. “I was hoping to speak with you.”

“Of course Ukitake-sempai.” Kumiko said, gracefully walking towards his side and sitting down.

Ukitake was silent for a while, taking his time as he felt the cool breeze blow against his face. A smile spread across his face, before he turned his gentle eyes towards her.

“ How are you doing? I know that with my absences you’ve been working hard and aiding in leading in my stead.”

Kumiko smiled brightly, shaking her head. “Oh no Ukitake-sempai… it is a great honor to help you with our division.”

“I see.” Ukitake said, closing his eyes for a moment as he paused. “I’m feeling quite better now. In fact, I was wondering if you’d like to take a trip to the human plane.”

“Demo… patrolling is more for the others, don’t you think?”
Ukitake’s face changed a bit more serious as he shook his head. “No, we’ve heard reports that there has been unusual activity there. We cannot pinpoint if it is Hollow activity or something else… and I am sure you’ve heard the rumors.”

Kumiko nodded, “Ah, well if you think I would be suited to go then I will gladly go.”

Ukitake smiled, standing up along with Kumiko.
“Good. There are to be a few more going with you. I believe two others will be joining you. They should be meeting here in a few minutes or so.”

“Ah, just enough time to…” Kumiko unsheathed her Zanpakuto. “… finish my warm-up!” She grinned, twirling around as she continued to close her eyes and focus while she seemingly danced.

    Name: Tsuga, Akaru

    Gender: Male

    Age: 20

Appearance: YAY FOR BISHIE SKETCH OF AKARU. Akaru’s appearance shows that not only does he not care for the school dress code, but he can get away with not caring. He often wears his white shirt so that the bottom half is undone and he doesn’t tuck it in (so it reaches about midway down his thighs, flowing open as he walks. Girls love it, teachers sigh inwardly at it and guys are too intimidated to hate it. XD) He otherwise wears the normal pants and tie, but the tie is loosely undone a bit to match his shirt. He also wears a pair of worn tennis shoes that are blue colored with white markings. He claims that they are extremely comfortable and wearing anything else would be bothersome. Akaru’s skin is very lightly tanned, to the point it really isn’t that tan but just isn’t pale. He has black tattoos upon the sides of his face, but not so obnoxiously as one would think. He also has matching tattoos visible upon his forearms and non-visible ones upon his shoulder blades. His Renji-red hair is extremely long and flowing, but he normally keeps it up. His red hair only causes his piercing emerald-green eyes to pop out even more, making his glares ever-more powerful. :3

Personality: Akaru is the quiet type that you get the feeling you shouldn’t get on his bad side. He generally has a very cool and calm demeanor, but easily gives off the sense that he could drop anyone in an instant. Akaru is quite intelligent and along with his bad boy rep, he often catches attention of some sort. (whether he wants it or not) He has a bit of a lazy attitude sometimes however, usually not doing anything he doesn’t have to do and sometimes not even doing things he should. While he doesn’t make friends easily due to his rather rogue reputation, the friends he do make are VERY protected underneath his guardianship. And if someone doesn’t realize this… once they mess with someone he deems his friend, they’ll soon find out.

Powers: Akaru’s powers manifest themselves in the form of a sword. It is slightly confusing to any Shinigami, for the sword resembles a Zanpakuto but Akaru is clearly not a Shinigami. Akaru’s sword (which will be called Gaoden) varies in appearance in power based on Akaru’s own spiritual energy and resolve to fight. So basically, his mood and determination determine his sword’s powers- and his spiritual energy fuels it and enhances it. Akaru is naturally very nimble and has the overall qualities that a skilled fighter has. (See history for whhyyy…)

History: Akaru grew up in a rather rough family and rough neighborhood. He was an extremely bright child and excelled in school, however his family’s secret business in criminal affairs slowly brought his schooling to a halt. Eventually Akaru became an elite Yakuza, being a second-hand man for a group of individuals who gave anyone who came across them great fear. (It might be noted that the only reason Akaru did not lead the group, was because he thought it tedious and simply didn’t want to.) Eventually however, Akaru became bored with his bloody lifestyle and decided to leave the life of a Yakuza. At first there was some run-ins and qualms about him leaving with several groups, but he silenced those who were stupid enough to try to stop him. (Use your imagination as to how.) Akaru then transferred to a different school district to get away from the busy city life. Akaru is older due to the fact that while he is very intelligent, his Yakuza days caused him to miss too much school to allow him to graduate.

Relations: Akaru lives by himself, having left his family in the city. Akaru knows of Katashi, but he hasn’t really given the absent-minded fellow a thought. Akaru has a bit of protective side with Takiri due to their run-in one day. She had gotten herself in a bind with some bullies and was giving a good fight despite her size and appearance. However, a group soon surrounded her and being rather bothered by this, Akaru came to her aid. He punched one guy in the jaw (yes, jaw) and after breaking it, the group dispersed. (Akaru rumors to the rescue!) Since then they’ve … limitedly hung out, which can be a bit difficult with Akaru’s reserved nature. Akaru was partners with Kiyoshi in a project once, and Kiyoshi is probably the only one who knows of Akaru’s book intelligence.

    Other: WEEEE

    Tsuga, Akaru
    .: M | Human :.

“Akaru…” Akaru’s eyes slowly opened, and right before him he saw Hoshiko staring straight at him. This snapped Akaru to attention, as he noticed that everyone in the class had left.

“Sumimasen… I didn’t mean to fall asleep.” Akaru said, his low yet smooth tone quietly audible. Hoshiko laughed slightly and shrugged.
“I don’t care. The teacher doesn’t seem to either.” She whispered the end part, eyeing Tsukiko who just had walked out the door. Akaru raised a brow but shrugged as he rose from his seat, practically towering over Hoshiko. Scratching the back of his head absently, he noticed a few girls whispering in the corner and eyeing him and Hoshiko. Ignoring it, he walked out the door as Hoshiko walked by his side.

“Ano… Akaru-kun, for lunch today… do you want to eat with me and Shusui-san?” Hoshiko managed to say as they both walked down the hallway. Akaru’s mind wandered for a moment. Normally he didn’t like the idea of eating with anyone… except for perhaps Hoshiko. He just usually didn’t like the rumors and the talk that followed him wherever he went. However, he knew Shusui… and he had to admit that the kid didn’t seem half bad. Sure he couldn’t save himself from a wind gust, but he seemed to be the type to not give up. Akaru liked that.

“Sure.” Akaru said, which gave Hoshiko a smile and the two of them quickly grabbed their lunch. Walking to the top of the school building, Akaru soon found himself leaning against one of the protruding wall on top of the school as he gazed upwards at the clouds. Akaru was a relatively fast eater, and Shusui and Hoshiko were talking and still eating. A few times they had asked him about his food and if he made it. Akaru had replied simply with ‘yes’ and ‘delicious’. Hoshiko had offered him food at one point, in which he ate it just as swiftly and complimented the flavor. It had been delicious… and while Akaru did not show it, he slightly hoped that she would share food with him as often as she did with Shusui.

It was peaceful… well, for the most part. A few other groups of classmates came up to the roof to eat and while generally everyone was spaced out enough for it to be quiet… it still caused Akaru to wander his gaze at everyone. He knew a few of them – Kiyoshi and Katashi to be more specific. And at that very moment, Akaru watched in slight amusement along with Hoshiko and Shusui as Katashi began chasing a bird for some odd reason.
“He’s… a little odd.” Shusui commented, as Akaru raised a brow.
“You thin-” Before Akaru could finish, Katashi had come barging through and was about to practically run over Shusui and Hoshiko. Normally Akaru wouldn’t have done anything, but considering they were on a roof and Katashi’s absent mind seemed to have forgotten this. He was also running pretty fast… so Akaru swiftly stood up in front of the two of them. A resounding thud sounded through the air as Katashi collided straight into Akaru’s solid frame. Akaru’s face did not change, as Katashi was sent sprawling to the ground by his own momentum.

“Itetetetetete…” Katashi mumbled, rubbing his head as he looked upwards.
“Watch where you are going, ahou.” Akaru commented, looking at Shusui and Hoshiko to see that they were indeed alright but quite surprised at the suddenly collision. (Kiyoshi was reading a book and looked up absently… as if he expected such an occurrence.)

    Name: Iibo Lobo AKA Lobo

    Gender: Male

Age: Unknown- appearance (for an Arrancar) seems twenties.

Appearance: YAY FOR BISHIE SKETCH OF LOBO. Lobo stands at a rather average height of 6’2 and has a rather slim yet toned build. His hair is a snowy white that compliments his piercing violet eyes. His skin is slightly tan and actually seems far more tan when compared to his white Arrancar jacket. He always has his jacket open and his zanpakuto is fastened around his shoulder. (You can see the rest in the picture. >.<) His small remnants of his Arrancar-self is the small pieces of bone beneath his left eye, but other than that he seems perfectly human.

Personality: Lobo is… a very unique and most likely ‘unstable’ character. While he doesn’t change his moods as often as the weather, his two different sides are as different as night and day. Most of the time Lobo is very enjoyable and is overly nice and thoughtful. (AKA playing games with young children, laughing joyously, being lovable and liking to go out and have fun times.) In this state, he is very charming and extremely approachable to the point where usually his enemies are a bit confused. Lobo gets confused with his enemies as well and often needs to have very long conversations before realizing that anyone is his real opponent.

However, Lobo’s other side is extremely dangerous. On a radical whim, Lobo will snap at the most remotely random and insignificant things. (AKA a character could cough the wrong way and Lobo suddenly would take it as an insult.) The result, is Lobo totally goes beserk. He swears profusely, gets Ikkaku-like bloodlust and insanity for battle.

Lobo overall is hard to manage… especially for Aizen and he seems to only do what he wants- even in his good mood. The only one he actually listens too and strangely, has never snapped at, is his partner Gatomielo.

    Class: Arrancar- Espada #3

Powers: Lobo knows the basic Menos powers- Cero blast, Pesquisa, has Hierro (stone-like skin… erm… yah know..), knows how to use Sonido (like flash steps), and Garganta. However, Lobo, despite being the newest member in the Espada, is surprisingly and deceivingly strong and swift. Lobo also has the almost instinctual and natural ability to cloak his spiritual energy at will. The funny thing with Lobo, is that he believes that he doesn’t know how to release his Zanpakuto yet. Everytime in battle he eventually tries however… creating a dramatic display with his words. However, when he unsheathes it… nothing happens, except for a small black tattoo with the kanji for “danger” appears upon his face. Lobo believes nothing happens and is usually quite dismayed, however in fact he has released his Zanpakuto- he just doesn’t really change. His power levels in strength and speed change dramatically however. (He … some how… doesn’t notice the change.) Lobo also has a unique attack, but to this day it remains unknown since he himself has not used it.

History: Lobo has a very simplistic history, for he is extremely new. Rumors has it, (and by rumors… I mean Lobo’s self proclaimed rumors) he died in a car accident back within the Earthen realm. However, his mother was a single mother who was dying in the hospital due to the car accident that Lobo himself caused (by accident…). So Lobo didn’t leave Earth but stayed, watching over his mother. When his mother eventually died a week and a half later… Lobo went insane. His anger at himself turned him into a powerful Vasto Lorde, which eventually led him to be an Arrancar. Lobo’s spirit has (even for an Arrancar) very powerful energy which explains his strength, but the causes of his insanity still perhaps echoes remainders within him.
Lobo, upon being created, was instantly seen as double-edged sword to Aizen. Aizen slowly is finding he is having difficulties controlling Lobo. Realizing that Gatomielo was the only other Arrancar who seemed to be able handle Lobo, Aizen stuck the two together. Lobo never has snapped at Gatomielo and often is a bit protective of him. The two now spy on the Earth and actually have spied on Shinigami in Soul Society a bit as well- mostly due to their power to conceal their spiritual energy. Lobo REALLY enjoys his visits to the Earthen realm as well… finding joy in eating their food and stealing shirts.

Relations: Lobo is on good terms and is a partner of Gatomielo.

Other: Lobo is… crazy… but in a good way!

    WARNING: Blasphemous Lobo Activity Ahead

    Iibo Lobo
    .: Arrancar | M | Espada # 3 :.

“Awww… isn’t she adorable?” Iibo Lobo spoke softly, his voice sounding quite light and sweet. Lobo’s voice, when nice, can often be compared to lilac bushes or the types of flowers that you like smelling in the Spring. So much so, that many fellow Arrancar wonder if perhaps this was one of his own powers… but alas, anyone inside the head of Iibo Lobo would know otherwise.

“Ah, yes… all human children seem to be that way, ne?” Gatomielo responded, although he was sitting upon a park bench, distracting himself from Lobo’s antics for now. He discovered that once Lobo had become side tracked, it was best to let him run his course instead of trying to intervene.

“Hello there Imouto.” Lobo said with a coo, placing a light hand on top of the little girl’s head and ruffling her hair slightly. The little girl was no more than five years old and she giggled slightly. She of course, could not see Lobo at all but had already convinced herself less than a month ago that she had an invisible friend. Up until a few minutes ago, she was quite wrong and had no friends at all. However, for the meantime she had a friend in Lobo.

“Mommy, Mommy… Mii-san is playing with me!” The little girl called to her mother, who was sitting on a park bench tending to her younger child. The mother raised her head, smiled and waved in an automatic response to her hyperactive daughter.

“Aww… She called me, Mii-san!” Lobo said, standing up straight as he did his own version of a dance around the little girl.

“Let’s play catch!” Lobo announced, grabbing the girl’s ball. He then tossed it to her lightly, which again caused the girl to giggle and go fetch the ball. She then threw it… completely away from Lobo, but Lobo was oblivious to this and ran to fetch it anyways.

“Yay Mii-san!!” The girl called, clapping her hands as Lobo once again tossed it to her. Gatomielo raised a brow as he watched the two for a moment and then went back to distracting himself- somehow gaining a newspaper.

“Hey hey… its okay, you can call me Lobo-kun!” Lobo said eagerly, smiling brightly at the little girl as she once again threw the ball. Lobo paused and waited for her, but she looked around in confusion as to why the ball wasn’t moving.

“Mii-san… Mii-san! Throw the ball Mii-san!” She called, and Lobo frowned slightly as he went and retrieved the ball.

“She can’t hear you...” Gatomielo called half-mindedly, still browsing through the newspaper. Lobo seemed to either not register this comment or just chose not to hear his partner.

“Now… call me Lobo-kun!!” Lobo said happily, throwing the ball. He waited for her to call him that- as if it were a proper exchange for him playing catch. The girl however simply threw the ball in the opposite direction of Lobo again, clapping happily as her little brown pigtails bobbed up and down.

“Yay Mii-san!” The girl proclaimed happily, dancing.

Lobo’s eyes suddenly narrowed as he clenched his fists at his side.
“Here we go again…” Gatomielo said quietly, closing the newspaper to see how Lobo was going to deal with his other half this time.

What the #@*%*^**!!! Stupid little f*ck’n human child!!!” Lobo suddenly yelled, stomping so that the ground sank beneath his feet as he charged at the girl. He did it so swiftly that even if the girl COULD have seen him… it wouldn’t have mattered at that point. Swinging his leg around, Lobo promptly kicked the girl straight in the abdomen.

One might compare this kick to the way one kicked a bouncy red rubber ball.

The little girl didn’t have time to yell, probably due to the fact that her lungs collapsed instantly as she went flying into the air to the point where she was indistinguishable from the sky. The mother didn’t notice, being too preoccupied with her baby.

“Maa, maa…” Gatomielo said, watching the girl fade into the distance. (He wondered shortly what the reaction of the human who stumbled across the body would be like. Or better yet, if the girl suddenly splattered right next to a human.)

With the girl gone, Lobo’s rage half seemed to melt away as swiftly as it had come.

“Oi, Gato-san, what were we supposed to do here anyway?” Lobo collapsed on the ground, sitting crosslegged as he pulled grass out of the ground boredly.

“Orders were to spy.” Gatomielo said, to which Lobo sighed loudly.

“Baaaah… so boring. Spying on patrolling Shinigami here and the wacko humans?” Lobo made a disgusted face, “I’d rather go shopping.”

[ Feel free to do what you want. Two other Shinigami should go to the human world with Kumiko. Others can do whatever they want. Eventually I’ll need all the humans (other than Yiwen’s charry) to get attacked by Hollows. Yours powers will manifest from being attacked… and you can defeat a Hollow, but you’ll be attacked by more. Eventually Kumiko’s group will come to your aid. (you guys can fight in a group or alone). ]

Katashi took a moment to collect his senses. What was he doing on the ground? A brief flash of Akaru’s chest flickered through his mind and suddenly he had it. Popping to his feet, Katashi waggled his finger good naturedly at the impassive Akaru, “My my my, next time maybe a verbal warning before a chest to the face?”

Akaru looked at Katashi for a long moment before replying, “I’ll think about it.”

Smiling broadly, Katashi pranced the few steps over to Shusui and Hoshiko, plopping down next to the sickly youth and, pulling a ridiculously large bento box from his backpack, began to feast with enormous gusto considering his slight frame. Despite the food flying in the area directly around him, thankfully missing his lunchmates, his coat remained remarkably clean.

Smiling softly at Katashi, Shusui nodded at Akaru, “Thanks…I don’t know if I could have gotten out of the way in time.”

Akaru shrugged, “Don’t mention it, I doubt he even remembers falling down by now…”

Shusui’s laugh transformed into a cough that doubled him over, his hands grabbing his chest as he fought for breath. Thankfully however, this attack was a relatively calm one and within a few moments he could breath once again, the only remnants of the attack the few bloodspots that had spattered on his hands. Hoshiko handed Shusui a piece of sashimi, her expression seeming to indicate she thought it would help. Smiling, Shusui ate the proffered food slowly, careful to not push himself too hard. The attacks had been coming more often as of late, and he wasn’t quite sure why.

Who knows, maybe it’s finally time for me to go…

Hiding the sudden grip of fear and sadness that surrounded him with a smile, Shusui continued to enjoy his lunch with his friends. He wasn’t about to waste these opportunities, not when he didn't know how many he might have left. Pulling a small radio from his backpack, Shusui flicked it on with a finger and listened for a moment, he always had an interest in what was going on in the world around him, hoping that perhaps if he couldn't live a long life he could at least live a broad one.

Police are still on the lookout for a suspect in the murder of a vacationing Western girl this morning. Adalia Karrde was found dead nearly a mile outside of the park where her Mother last remembers seeing her. A victim of severe chest trauma her kille....

Shusui turned off the radio, death was the last thing he wanted to hear about...

Meanwhile, Katashi had finished his bento box, replacing it in his backpack. He sat still for a moment, a look of severe concentration on his face. Anyone who looked would be surprised to see a suddenly somber face on the normally cheerful Katashi, his eyes narrowed in thought and his face clearly troubled by something deep within him. With a deep sigh he lowered his head.

Who knows, maybe it’s finally time for me to go….to the second course!

Lunging for his backpack, Katashi removed a freshly wrapped melon roll, chomping into the delicious treat with, if possible, even more enthusiasm than before.

    Name: Endriago
    Gender: male
    Age: see appearance
Appearance: Endriago looks like a man in his mid 20's. He has spiky jet black hair and deep brown eyes that seem bottomless. Endriago wears a dark blue tai chi gi with a crimson cloth belt. There is a drinking gourd at his hip which he drinks from casually on frequent occasion. He wears traditional wooden Japanese sandals. He has an ornate ivory band on his right wrist carved to look like a dragon chasing it's tail.
Personality: Everything about him is very zen and mysterious. He has a knack for imparting hidden advice in even the most mundane speech. He is intentionally ambiguous in most things he says and does. He very mysteriously might help someone one day only to appear at odds with them the next. Endriago is an enigma. He makes no sound unless he chooses to and likewise is generally impossible to sense unless he chooses to make his presence known.
Powers: He seems capable of disappearing and reappearing at will. Whether this is speed or a power of invisibility or teleportation is unknown and he isn't eager to share his secrets with anyone. He makes no sound unless he chooses to and likewise is impossible to sense unless he chooses to make his presence known.
History: His history is unknown and he isn't eager to divulge his past to anyone he meets. What is known is that he he showed up in Karakura Town about two years ago and is often seen conveniently nearby areas bubbling with great spiritual energy.
Relations: While no one seems to know who he is a lot of people who live in Karakura Town associate him as being the strange but friendly cook that feeds the birds in the parks and near the high school. A few spiritual beings seem to feel Endriago is very familiar but can't say why. These include but aren't limited to Gatomielo, Abe Tsukiko, Madarame Ikkaku, Yamashita Kumiko and Kuchiki Rukia.
Other: He likes feeding the birds and no matter how much he drinks from his gourd he never seems impaired by it.

    Endriago

Endriago always found the high school students so very entertaining. Even those who were acutely aware, or should be anyways, remained quite blissfully oblivious. All things being equal he would love to watch them remain that way. Very soon all things would no longer be equal, however.

As the students all finished their lunches and turned to leave they witnessed a very strange sight. Endriago had perched himself above the door back inside, his legs dangling down and kicking softly in place like a bored child.

"Ah the children of our world, hard at study. Dazed by the lazy days of the generation, blind to the ebb and flow," Endriago spoke in an absent dreamy tone.

"May we help you?" Takiri Hoshiko smiled pleasantly.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!" Endriago laughed with a roar, throwing his head back with the force of it.

He promptly then hopped down and took a seat indian style directly in front of the door. The door being the only exit from the rooftop the smile seemed to fade from some of the students faces. Tsuga Akaru took particular exception and stepped forward.

"Mind moving?" Akaru said quite flatly and devoid of emotion.

"Oh relax child! I am not one of your demons," Endriago paused, looking upwards in thought. "Of course, your demons past are truly no demons at all baby Akaru. There are demons who walk in the winds, though."

"Ummm.... listen. We need to get back t....." Koshaku Sushui began meakly before Endriago held up his hand to silence him.

"Beware the wind, children, when it begins to hiss like the viper or crack like thunder. But remember, as the wind blows so does the river flow. Flow from the source of life it does. You too must flow like the river if you hope to race the wind, children. Remember to flow from the source," Endriago managed to make his words seem quite wise and quite mad all in one feel swoop. "Oh look......a bird."

For some reason all of the students felt compelled to turn and look at whatever Endriago was pointing at. None of them saw anything and immediately turned back towards the door. Much to their great surprise, however, Endriago was nowhere to be seen.

    Shinigami-

    Name: Satto, Yuuzen

    Gender: Male

Appearance: Drawing of Yuuzen! Yuuzen stands 5’9” tall, and has a very athletic build. He’s not crazy muscular, but one can tell he trains quite a bit. He wears the normal, black shinigami robes with his vice-captain’s badge on his left arm. With his green eyes and messy red hair one would expect Yuuzen to stand out in a crowd, but he tends to blend in when he wants to.

Personality: Yuuzen is, as his name suggests, calm and quick. He is generally an enjoyable person to be around, but is known to keep his head in any situation. Yuuzen loves combat, he doesn’t lust for it, but battle is his element, so he was instantly drawn to squad 11. He is actually a bit of a leader there. As Captain Zaraki, cares little for anything past fighting a strong opponent, Yuuzen can be found leading his squad with training and various other duties.

    Rank: Vice-captain of squad 11.

Powers: Again as his name suggests (it literally means quickly, calmly) is easily the fastest member of his squad. He is actually a bit famous in the soul society for having a mastery of shunpo (flash step) that rivaled Yuroichi, who was known as the goddess of flash. Yuuzen has a decent spiritual energy, though nothing like his captain or Ichigo. So he uses his immense speed in combat to surprise and destroy his enemies.

Zanpakuto: Name is Kausuken, which means chaos blade.

Shikai: Somewhat unoriginally Kausuken’s shikai is very similar to Kratos’ blades from God of War. Yuuzen has one, short, spiky sword with the kanji for power on the blade, and is attached to a chain that seems to wrap around his arm once, then disappears under Yuuzen’s sleeve. The chain is capable of extending to almost any length, and is quite capable as a distance weapon if necessary. And although it requires a larger amount of spirit energy, when needed Yuuzen can control the chain and maneuver it in much unexpected ways.

Bankai: Yuuzen has not yet reached Bankai, though he is close. After years of training he has reached materialization. Kausuken’s form is a rather large bald eagle with a long snake’s tail. Yuuzen hopes to reach bankai soon, because, although he has great respect for his captain, Yuuzen does not like the way he runs his squad, and wishes to someday take over as 11th squad captain.

History: Yuuzen was selected to enter the shinigami academy because of his spiritual energy, like most. During Yuuzen’s time at the academy he was fairly average in kido, though he excelled in swordsmanship. This was mainly due to his initial speed, which became overwhelming when he eventually, though still suddenly, mastered Shunpo, and quite literally ran circles around his opponents. He was initially placed into squad 13, but was soon recruited by squad 11 because of his ability in battle.

Relations: Because of his short time with squad 13, Yuuzen is friends with Kumiko. And because of his longstanding position in squad eleven, Yuuzen is good acquaintances with any who has served under said squad, such as Abari Renji, and Madarame Ikkaku.

    Satto, Yuuzen:
    Vice-captain 11 division

Yuuzen stood in the middle of the 11th squad’s training grounds. “Good,” he said panting a little, “but don’t stop just because you pushed me back. Take full advantage of every opportunity.”

“Hi senpai!” The opposing shinigami responded.

“Now again!” and Yuuzen charged at his underling, zanpakuto held horizontally in one hand. The shinigami was just able to deflect the thrust, gaining only a small gash on his shoulder. Yuuzen smiled, this was quite an improvement. “I see you’ve been practicing!” he called out through their furious melee. The shinigami did not respond. He was holding his own, but it was obvious that he had to concentrate much harder than Yuuzen did on the battle.

Just then Yuuzen noticed a black form coming at him fast. He jumped backward, out of his current battle and blocked a sword slash, only to receive a sheath in his face. Yuuzen skidded backward as a trickle of blood ran from his nose. He smiled, stood up, and fell into a perfect stance and Madarame Ikkaku grinned insanely. “Come on.”

The two shinigami were nothing but blurs to the crowd of onlookers. Swords swinging, clanging, and flashes of light were all anyone could see with the naked eye.

There was an especially loud clang and the two shinigami each jumped backward out of the melee, only to raise their blades and charge in, each with a kiai capable of wetting the pants of a shinigami academy student.

Just before Yuuzen and Ikkaku reached each other however, there was a streak of color as a tall man with amazing sunglasses appeared in between them. “MEN!” He called out, “THIS IS NOT THE TIME FOR FIGHTING AMONGST OURSELVES!” He then raised his hand and pointed to the sky in a dramatic pose that only Harai, Kamina could pull off. “WE HAVE A MISSION! DID YOU THINK I’D LET THIS DELAY US!? JUST WHO DO YOU THINK I AM?!”

Sweat dropping slightly but smiling broadly Yuuzen sheathed his sword and walked over to where Kamina and Ikkaku were now standing. “Hello there Kamina-san.”

“And how many times must I ask you to at least not do that while I’m training the rest of the squad Ikkaku-san?” Yuuzen said in a serious tone that was betrayed by the enormous grin on his face.

“C’mon, ‘vice’ captain. I need to keep you on your toes.” Ikkaku responded, sheathing his own sword. “Anyway, there is a mission for you. You’re supposed to report to Ukitake-taicho for details.”

“Okay, thanks…” Yuuzen said raising a brow. “But why are you playing messenger?”

“Shut up and go.” Ikkaku said as he unsheathed his zanpakuto and turned to the rest of squad 11. “Now who wants to fight?!” The crowd of kohai backed away a little and some of the shinigami were obviously nervous at the prospect of having to fight Ikkaku.

Yuuzen left with Kamina to go find Captain Ukitake, smiling to himself as he saw Ikkaku dragging a silently protesting shinigami into the ring. “C’mon! Don’t you want to have any fun?!”

It was a few minutes before Yuuzen found Captain Ukitake sitting one some wooden steps watching his vice-captain train, doing what looked like a beautiful combination of swordsmanship and dance.

“Good morning Ukitake-tiacho.” Yuuzen said as he stepped into the area. “And hello Kumiko-san, it’s good to see you again.”

The sword-dancing shinigami paused and looked over, “Oh, hi Yuuzen-san. Are you two traveling with me on the mission to the human plane?”

“If that’s what Ukitake-taicho’s mission for us is.”

“Excellent,” captain Ukitake said, “Now that everyone is here I can explain the details of the mission.”

Question: As in this follows the story, where are we starting? Like...before Aizen does his stuff?

    SHINIGAMI –

    Name: Shuusuke Arai
    Gender:
    Male

Appearance: Arai possesses a very intimidating physique, standing at a tall 6'1. Streaks of crimson hair fall to his shoulders, often altered in form to accomodate numerous hairstyles. His eyes, a dull black, often make him look very angry. Wearing the standard jet black Shinnigami's robe, the badge of the Fifth Division is looped across his left arm. The sleeves of said robe have been torn off entirely, and the edges of a majority of the outfit are frayed and unkempt in appearance. Rather muscular from years of swordfighting, it only adds to his intimidating style. His zanpakutoh's sheath is looped across his waist, hanging loosely, tipped slightly forward. He often, out of habit, produces a very aggressive or depressed look when he is in deep thought, leading others to worry/panic due to this.

Personality: Arai is, in two words, incredibly determined. He's always seeking to improve his form or style, though he does this in a very concealed fashion, with fear of being ridiculed. Because of this he is willing to receive teaching even by someone he hates, as long as said teacher can improve his abilities. However, this determination is only fuelled things toward he likes -- which, in essence, is anything related to physical combat. When he isn't seeking to improve his fighting abilities, he is, pretty much....really lazy. All though an outgoing and generally nice person, he often tries to get someone else to perform a duty he is supposed to do. Arai is also a joker, never missing an opportunity to take a crack at someone. Such opportunities are sometimes held back, as Arai possesses a fine definition of what is stepping over the line, all though he wouldn't hesitate to comment on a woman as he is passing by. Despite this, he has a dislike for those who seriously put down another, occasionally stepping to one's defense should the situation occur. He also despises criticism from others, believing he is the only one who knows what he needs to improve on. Arai is also a bit of a show-off, though in a modest fashion. Arai is also very prideful and honorable.

    Rank: Lieutenant of 5th Division

Powers: As someone who is placed in the squad of the Demon Arts, his Kidoh knowledge is very vast. However, his ability to actually cast said spells is rather limited. What's odd is some intricate Kidoh spells are actually very simple to him, while 'simple' ones are incredibly hard for him to pull off. His most commonly used spells are offensive ones, as he is, essentially, a rash fighter. He also uses the Tracking spell (#58) and messaging spell (#77) when needed. However, he often sticks to Kidoh only when he needs to (which isn't often), due to numerous incidents in which the spell accidentally hit an ally or caused an unintentional casualty.

Aside from Kidoh, he is a remarkable swordfighter who uses his three abilities to its fullest. His above average speed meshes well with a decent sword bearing arm, all though a majority of his fighting is based on his dexterity. Such dexterity was something that is natural to him -- as he is decently strong (though still rather low among the ranks of Shinigami), he can wield his zanpakutoh one-handed, often switching the bearing arm around to throw off the opponent. He's also been known to perform acrobatic feats in battle; some to show off, while others to give him an advantage. He can play a decent mind game with his opponent, using his fine-tuned Shunpo abilities with his dexterity to throw them off. Despite his muscled figure, he is actually lightweight in comparison to other Shinigami, which makes him easy to knock down.

As for the mental battle, Arai can often lose morale when the odds or pressure is against him. He is also hesitant at times when he sees an opportunity to strike, leading to an opening of his own. Loss of morale can throw him off extremely in battle. This is actually very common, and thus his performance is very varied. Arai's reiatsu is of decent amount.

Zanpakuto: Karaihyaku (translation is roughly Storm - King of Beasts, which is essentially the Lion, thus...Storm Lion)
Incantation: Electrify with your piercing roar, Karaihyaku!

Shikai: Hakuryuu's Shikai Form is, as one may persume from their name, a Lightning/Wind-Based Zanpakutoh. The blade is a cold sky blue, above average in terms of length. The hilt is wrapped in crimson bands, with the cross guard being a four-sided star. Two streaks of black run along the actual blade. Karai (shortened)'s actual power is rather useful; a swing of the blade can (this being a key word, as in Arai controls whether it performs this or not) produce a projectile of shimmering lightning. Arai can also manipulate these projectiles to a certain extent, as well as coat Karai in an aura of electricity.

Form: Karaihyaku's true form is a winged lion, appearing to Arai as such. The lion has a coat of golden fur, with two great black wings sprouting from his back. Karai often looks very stern, and, unlike Arai, is very serious and harsh. While Arai's interests are more towards combat, Karai believes Arai should focus more on Kidoh, as it is a strength that is less common among the Shinigami ranks. While they possess a close bond, they quarrel constantly.

Bankai: Endairai Karaihyaku (In broken Japanese -- Grand Lightning Storm Lion)Arai has only just achieved Bankai after years of training and communication with Karaihyaku. Because of this, his time in using bankai is rather limited (like Hitsugaya). In Bankai, Kariahyaku's blade is entirely composed of a blue-yellow form of crackling electricity, with two crackling wings of lightning sprouting from Arai's back. As he uses his Bankai, Arai's wings will slowly fade away; fading away completely will end Arai's session of Bankai. Arai's neckline is now covered with a golden-colored coat of fur (it can be presumed to be from a lion, all though it's...spiritual fur! Cause animal cruelty is wrong...) that lines his shoulders and a small majority of his back. Endairai capitalizes on speed. While Endairai possesses the same abilities as his Shikai, said projectiles are larger in size and quicker in speed, with Arai having a greater control over them. He can now create pillars of lightning as well, and stabbing his sword into the earth can create of a shockwave of electricity. In Endairai form, Arai's Kidoh is also more potent. With Arai's wings intact, he can fly a short distance. One of the techniques Arai uses during bankai is Gouon no Raion (roughly Roar of Lion). This is done by stabbing forward, creating a familiar of Karaihyaku in electrified form, which charges forward and smashes into the opponent; once it does so, it will send a powerful shock through the target's entire body. As the lion familiar runs forward, it creates pillars/streaks of lightning (which can be manipulated) in its path. Using this technique will end Arai's Bankai prematurely. For reference, Arai's actual Bankai time is maybe twelve minutes (which actually isn't long!), so it is mostly used as a finisher. However, even then, it is hardly used due to Arai's pride, believing that having to bring out his Bankai is acknowledging his opponent as his equal.

History: Recruited into the Shinigami Academy due to his strong reiatsu in comparison to normal denizens of Soul Society, Arai was a decent student in said school. He idolized the captains and aspires to be one even now. As one of the better Kidoh Casters in his year, he was placed in the 5th Division, before being switched to the 11th, then back again as Vice Captain (or Lieutenant? still not sure). After hearing of Rukia's induction into the Kuchiki Family, he also hopes to do so as well, and is always seeking to impress a higher up. His pride and honor formed during his time in the 11th Division, in which he met Yuuzen (if it's ok with Sworkill?), Yachiru (who calls him Scary Man), and Ikkaku (who taught him to fight). At the moment he idolizes Byakuya due to his gifted abilities. He has attempted to try for Captain with the Proficiency Test; however, he was denied due to both Aizen (his captain) and Byakuya of the three voicing their opinion that he was still too inexperienced with his Bankai. This has motivated Arai to continue bonding with Karaihyaku to surpass his handicap.

    Relations:
Decent friends with Yachiru, Ikkaku, and Yuuzen (again if ok). He also looks up to Byakuya.

Other: During his trips to the human world, he is dressed rather flamboyantly. He also tries to get Urahara to teach him to improve his Bankai.

    Shuusuke Arai - 5th Division - Lieutenant
    -

I kinda wish there were more hollows around Seireitei.

A red-haired Shinigami reclined lazily in a wooden chair, ignoring the pile of papers on his desk as he started out the window. His zanpakutoh was sheathed, though this didn't shackle the connection he and his swrod possessed.

    Why would you want that?

    Arai shrugged.

"It'd be less boring around here," he said aloud.

So you'd rather be risking your life?

I could fight them off easy.

If you were so strong, you'd be a Captain, wouldn't you?

Those problems aren''t just mine, Karaihyaku.

Arai could feel Karaihyaku's presence receding as footsteps filled the hallway. Hastily scrambling forward, he unearthed a writing utensil and pretended to be scribbling across one of the papers on his weathered desk.

The footsteps grew louder before abruptly stopping; Arai forced himself to continue looking down for several moments, muttering businesslike phrases to himself.

Then he looked up with a stern expression.

"Ah, I'm sorry. I was just going through this paperwork..." He indicated the piles. "After all, isn't it my duty as Vice-Captain?"

He then noticed the Shinigami standing before him as a subordinate of the Thirteenth Division.

"Er, of course, sir." The Shinigami said blandly, obviously not believing it for a second. "Ukitake-taicho has requested that I bring you to him..."

"Ah, I don't know," the Vice-Captain managed to say in a somber manner. "After all, I'm so busy today...I cannot shirk my duties..."

"...I believe he has a mission for you." The messenger finished.

Suddenly Arai shot up, sending half of the papers drifting to the floor, though he hardly noticed. A second later he realized his outburst, coughing in a dignified manner as he gathered several of the stray sheets, replacing them on his desk.

"A mission, you say?" Arai continued. "Well, if I must..."

Still unbelieving, the subordinate simply indicated that the Lieutenant allow the Shinigami to escort him to the Captain.

    -

As Arai arrived, he noted three other Shinigamis by the Thirteenth Captain -- Kumiko, Harai and Yuuzen, giving a nod to the latter. Ukitake was in a pensieve state, and Arai glanced at the Captain questioningly.

    "Ukitake-taicho." The messenger said softly.

The Captain broke from his reverie, looking up.

"Ah, Shuusuke Arai." Ukitake smiled. "I wanted to see you."

"Gathered that," Arai replied calmly. "So what's this mission?"

Ukitake glanced at the other three Shinigami.

"Simply put, you'll be accompanying these three into the human plane, and..."

"Ah, excellent!" Arai said excitedly. "I've gotten new outfits that I've been dying to wear, and..."

He paused as he noticed Ukitake was still not finished, hastily clearing his throat.

"Er, go on." He said meekly.

"Right then. There's been odd activities in the area of Karakura Town, so we'll need you four to investigate it at once."

    "Hollows?" Arai questioned.

"Possibly." The aged Captain shrugged. "If we knew, we shouldn't have to send you."

"All right then," Arai grinned. "So when do we go?"

    Stop trembling
    Open your eyes
Release your own time! Shootin’ star going towards the future!
    Draw the arch of light
You’ll reach it, if you keep believing
When the voice that calls for you
    Bursts open in your heart
    Everything will start, Believer!

    Name: Kazemu, Zukai
    Gender: M
    Age: Around 20-25
Appearance: Standard Shinigami wardrobe. Skyblue eyes and greyish hair. His hair is kept uncombed and is generaly a mess. He stands at 5'8" and is skinny, this leads to his somewhat more agile fighting style.
Personality: A very relaxed person. Doesn't want to be forced to fight but does when he is needed to. Zukai is often found just sitting in the street, holding his sword in his hand. This way he communicates with his Zanpaktou.
Rank: 5th seated officer of the 10th division (think this means that he is in charge of the 3rd squad of division 10)
Powers: Zukai focusses mostly on Swordfighting. With his light body he is very agile and difficult to hit. He knows his fair amount of Kidou, but only uses it against long-range fighters or when he is cornered.
    Zanpakuto: kumorigachi (broken cloud)
Sealed state: Typical katana. The hilt is bend a little and the cross guard has and S-shape. The color is a light blue. hilt example
Shikai: Hajikeru (split open, release command)
A smaller, second blade has sprouted from the hilt below the normal blade. Two types of attacks can be performed. A slash that travels through the air for a short distance and a miniature tornado getting launched straight ahead from the tip of the blade.
    Bankai: /
History: First lived outside of the Shinigami town(the outskirts), when his spiritual powers were developing he was quickly recruited. In the academy he showed good promise and was destined to become a seated officer. Currently the 5th seat, but when he has fully mastered his Shikai he'll probably be promoted to either 4th or 3rd seat.
Relations: Looks up to Hitsugaya, his captain. Has contact with Yumichika Ayasegawa, seeing as he has the same rank in the 11th division
Other: Doesn't like spicy food and doesn't drink alcohol

    +-+-+ Zukai Kazemi +-+-+

Zukai let out a audible sigh. Yet another day of patrolling Seireitei. As he was walking through the streets, he noticed a slightly lower rate of shinigami then usual.

“Guess they’re training some students in the field.”

Every couple of weeks a batch of seated officers, mostly 10th seat or under, were ordered to escorts students to the human plane and monitor their actions while fighting hollows. Occasionally, when there were promising students, some higher seats were called on to guide the students into high level hollow areas. This could mean many hollows or few, but strong ones.

Zukai had always wanted to go on one of these missions but his lack of complete knowledge over his Shikai probably halted Hitsugaya-taicho from sending him out.

“And that leaves me with nothing to do.”

Zukai removed his Zanpakutou from his side and sat down. He placed the hilt on his left shoulder while holding the scabbard. Zukai closed his eyes and concentrated.

The world around him started to change. The buildings, walls and ground disappeared and were replaced by clouds. Some poles were just flying around. Some vertical, some horizontal and others somewhere in between. Zukai reopened his eyes and his sword no longer rested in his hand. It wasn’t in sight at all to be honest.

Well, that was a small lie as a spec in the sky grew larger. The form landed on a pole in front of Zukai and retracted his wings. The figure was tilted almost 90 degrees in comparison with Zukai.

“I’ll never get used to that.” the shinigami commented.

    The creature eyed him strangely.

Zukai took a closer look. It had green skin and wore a tight black pants and a sleeveless shirt that accentuated his its muscular build. The creature lacked a mouth and two vertical lines represented its nose. The eyes were piercing yellow and the hair consisted of black feathers. Around its wrists and ankles the same type of feathers could be found. The wings that span around 6 feet were now sucked into its back, showing a white border of their form on the back of its shirt.

You always make your world sound so dull. a voice echoed through Zukais head.

[FONT=Arial]“Sorry Kumorigachi, guess I’m not convincing you to visit me some times.”

Clearly you are not. What is the reason of your visit this time? Another, how did you put it… dull moment and you are interested in some… chitchat?

“100% correct. You don’t mind do you?”

Although I always enjoy our conversations, I wish you would spend some more time focusing on other things, such as training.

“Sheesh, another complainer. Hinamoto-fukutaicho always brings that up to when I meet her.”

I am glad I am not the only one that feels that way.

Kumorigachi took a jump and landed on another pole. He now stood upside down in comparison to his last position.

    Kumorigachi looked behind me.

I believe there is someone that wants to speak to you in your world.

I turned around and saw a familiar figure.

“Wonder what he wants, later Kumorigachi.”

The winged creature tilted its head

“I mean, I’ll come over again sometime.”

Again the world dissolved around Zukai and reformed into the streets of Seireitei. He slightly opened his eyes and grabbed two fingers that were pointing at him and about to poke him.

    “What do you want Yumichika-kun?”

I should probably leave it at that for the moment, it's started to get longer then I thought. Hope people like the introduction of my zanpakutous spirit.
Other Shinigami that aren't going to the human world can bump into me if they want.

    Name: Takiri Hoshiko
    Gender: Female
    Age: 16
Appearance: Hoshiko is a rather petite girl that looks more like a ten- or eleven-year-old than her current age. She stands at 4'9", has a slim build, pale skin and an almost flat chest. In order for her to look "cooler", she has shortened her black hair to a short haircut with backwards-sweeping spikes and red tips. Her eyes are usually a cloudy blue but will turn a bright green when she senses a significant amount of spiritual energy. She wears the typical school uniform seen on the anime in classes but is quick to change into a boy's school uniform as soon as school is over (as a tribute to her older brother). A blue bead bracelet given to her by her older brother is worn on her left wrist.
Personality: Hoshiko seems to have two main moods. The first is shown when she's exposed to a considerable amount spirit energy, which isn't much as she is very sensitive. She'll be edgy and nervous, preferring to lose herself in her music as to focus on something else. Even when she's no longer exposed, it will take her a while to recover. As she understands the spiritual world and all its happenings she'll be calmer during these times. The other mood is one of a loud, boisterous tomboy that doesn't like being threatened and loves to get into contests, especially those involving speed. If she is afraid, she won't show it and prefers to shove down that feeling. Her grades are average and she is smart but she is never one for homework.
Powers: Hoshiko has two main powers. One is her speed and jumping ability, which is similar to Kon's when he is in Ichigo's body. The problem is that she is initially unable to control the speed and is pretty clumsy with jumping. Her second is her "spirit bombs", baseball-sized spheres that materialize in her hand that can explode on contact with the enemy. The spheres resemble the beads on her bracelet. When she starts to run out of spirit energy, the bombs will occasionally be duds.
History: She still lives with her mother and father, but believes that she will never love her as much as her older brother Ken. Ken influenced her current appearance and personality by joking with her, calling her his "wannabe brother". With a spiritual awareness as powerful as Hoshiko, he taught her how to distinguish "nice" energy with "bad" energy. He moved a year ago to study in the United States, encouraging his sister to find her own path. Adoring him, she decided to be the "substitute son" in Ken's absence.
Relations: Occasionally eats with Katashi at the ramen shops but doesn't know much about him. Has seen Kiyoshi around school and her neighborhood and sometimes talks to him. Hangs around with Akaru at times and tries to talk to him although neither of them gets very talkative. Holds a bit of adoration for him and shows a slightly subdued nature around him, a mix between "Ko-kun" and "Hoshi-chan". Has heard the rumors about him but, since most of those rumors are from fangirls and jealous male classmates, takes the rumors with a grain of salt and doesn't talk to him about them. Visits Shusui during lunch and gives him extra food that she's cooked, believing that it'll make him feel better emotionally if not physically. Also talks to him after school and is worried about his condition although she doesn't show it.
Other: Has a photographic memory and a talent of sketching people and things that she sees. She never does this in school so many of the classmates don't know that she has sketches of most of them, as well as Akaru, Katashi, and Kiyoshi.

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

It took me a minute to register the man that had disappeared just a second ago. "Wasn't that the guy that feeds the birds near here?" I asked.

"I still don't see a bird," Katashi said while looking up at the sky.

"He tricked you," I told him. Strange. I don't remember telling him my name. And how did he get up there without us knowing? I looked back at Katashi who was still sitting down and looking up. "I suppose if you keep looking up, you'll find a bird."

"Hey, you're right!" he said brightly.

"But you'll be late for class," Akaru-kun added.

"You're right too!" He stood, dusted off his clothes, and walked ahead of us back in the school. We didn't say anything as we followed him to our respective classrooms. I stood in the doorway for a few seconds to make sure Shusui-san got to his desk okay. Unnecessary but an old habit.

As soon as I entered my classroom, a couple of classmates approached me eagerly. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at them. The two girls were the nosiest in the class, if not the whole school. "Hoshiko, is it true?" Hotaru asked me excitedly.

Not this again. They always talk about this! "Nani?" I asked, playing innocent.

Hotaru's friend, Emi, pulled me to a corner. "That you're paying Akaru protection money!" she whispered.

I mentally sweatdropped. They had been bouncing around that theory for two weeks but never openly talked to me about it. The bad thing is that they were going to hold onto the theory even if I denied it.

The two girls looked at me with anticipation but I was going to squash any and all gossiping. "Baka, he's not part of the Yakuza," I told them while trying to keep the volume of my voice low.

"How do you know?" Hotaru asked me. "He could be!"

My eyes flashed a warning at them. "If he is, then you'll be in big trouble when he finds out that you know that information." Hopefully they didn't know enough to know that real Yakuza flaunted their occupation. I held up a hand and made a sawing motion on my middle finger. "They'll cut your pretty fingers off. One...by...one."

Their faces turned white with fear. It really was priceless. "Will he find out?" they asked together.

I smiled grimly. "Not if you don't talk about it. But remember...they hear everything."

They simultaneously clapped their hands over their mouth and hurried back to their seats. I sat in mine just as the teacher entered. "He's not part of the Yakuza," I quietly reassured them. "He's too nice. I wouldn't hang out with crooks, after all."

They nodded and we all turned to the lesson at hand. At first, the lesson was the only thing on my mind. But then came the chill. It was if someone dumped a bucket of cold water on me. I lowered my head so the teacher wouldn't see my eyes turn green, something that always happens when I felt like this. The feeling went away after a quick second, leaving a lingering chill, but I kept my head down.

I was like that for the rest of the class. This was not something that I used to. I sensed things all the time, although I rarely if ever saw or heard them. But they were always small. This one was bigger and badder.

"Hoshiko, want to walk with us?" Hotaru asked me as we gathered our things.

I shook my head. "Gomen, I need to make sure my friend gets home safely." I went in the locker room to change into my after school clothes, a boys' school uniform that he gave me before he left.

Shusui-san met me in the hallway, along with Kiyoshi. "Ko-kun, did you..." Kiyoshi started. His voice faded before he could finish his sentence and he shook his head. "Never mind. I'll tell you later."

He's a little spooked too. Did he feel it? I glanced at his phoenix earring with curiosity before leaving with Shusui-san.

We took the usual route, making sure we avoided alleyways. But I decided to take a shortcut and led Shusui-san down a narrow street that was empty. He looked a little better but every now and then he would slow down.

"Shusui-san? What's wrong?" I asked him after the fifth slowdown.

"Maybe we should've walked with Akaru," he said softly.

I sighed heavily. A pep talk was in order. "Akaru-kun doesn't need to hang around us all the time! You have me! Besides, I need practice if I'm going to be your future bodyguard!"

"Hmm?" He gave a look of confusion but he seemed to be distracted at the moment.

"Hai! You will have your own big business someday, and that calls for a bodyguard! I can fill that position easily! Akaru-kun can help too if he wants but he looks like he doesn't want to bother with the work. We'll unleash a hostile takeover on your family's businesses!" I gave a loud wicked laugh.

Shusui-san laughed. "You've been hanging around Katashi too long," he said.

"At least I made you feel better! Now let's get you home!" I took one step forward and froze. The feeling was back, and it hit harder this time.

"Hoshiko?" We looked at each other, both of us looking terrified. "You felt it too..."

    "Like during class..."

CRASH! A loud noise had our heads snapping to the street. A huge dent was in the asphalt like something heavy had landed on it from a huge height. At first I saw nothing but then something flickered. It was large. And scary.

And it was looking right at us.

    "Hoshiko..." Shusui whimpered.

My legs wouldn't work. "What is that?"

My post is in two colours because I am being lazy and posting for both my characters at the same time.

    Abe [no] Tsukiko
    Gatomielo te Orcí

    Living After Midnight

Sunshine spills in through the large windows, the curtains left undrawn. Students bask in the rays like so many recalcitrant cats, some thinking of bento, others asleep, and a select few, concerned for the state of their grades, paying attention and taking the occasional note.

Abe-sensei's eyes move to the clock above the blackboard, then towards the dormant class, and finally back to the textbook, which she shuts with a quiet thud. This subdued and unprepossessing action nonetheless manages to alert the thirty-odd denizens of her history class to the end of the lesson and the beginning of lunch break. Less than a minute later the room is almost vacated - almost, except for the yakuza and the brothercon. She gives them a shrug, Defying the masses, are we?, then stalks out the door, finely turned ankles winking below the hem of her skirt.

"Shopping, my dear Lobo, is possible only when the shopkeeper can see one and feel one's money in their hand and therefore be reassured that their merchandise is not indeed floating out of the shop, borne on an invisible wind," says Gatomielo patiently, turning a page of his newspaper. There is a rather interesting article on powdered tea and its production in the culture section and he thinks he could finish it in a few more minutes, and then he can stop feeding platitudes to his irrepressible companion, already mangling the turf into clumps of dug-up soil and shredded grass, and they can go shopping. Whilst maintaining a constant watch on the area, of course.

Lobo pouts, his lower lip shoved out in a childish fashion, and crushes an unfortunate bit of clover between his restless fingers. "But I wanna go shopping. I need to go shopping!"

"'Want' and 'need' are two separate words with vastly different meanings, Lobo-kun."

"But the shopping district is near that stupid school where the wacko humans study, I heard those silly ladies over there talking about it!"

Gatomielo scans the last few lines of the article, noting down the address of the tea shop featured within (in the shopping district near the stupid school where the wacko humans study), and replaces the newspaper carefully upon the park bench, where he had found it abandoned by some careless human. "I suppose there is always the option of window shopping..."

"YAAAAAAAAAAY! WE'RE GOING SHOPPING!" All of a sudden Lobo is up and jumping and pumping his fist in the air; the next instant, he has grabbed hold of Gatomielo's arm, and proceeds to drag the other Espada along as he makes a beeline for downtown Karakura, grinning gleefully all the way.

Gatomielo allows himself to be dragged along. He has known Lobo for much of the latter's creation and is used to such indignities by now.

Abe no Tsukiko takes a long drag of her cigarette, or cheroot, or cigeroot. She must admit that she does not know the correct terminology for the noxious weeds she rolls into the form of a tube, inserts into a holder, and sets on fire with a delicate silver lighter. Until quite recently she was under the impression that it was termed a cheroot, for the pestilential smell produced when she set the thing alight. Nowadays some people tell her that it is a cigarette, because cheroots aren't made so small and fine.

But then again nowadays she has to go about calling herself Abe Tsukiko, because normal people don't belong to clans, and nowadays normal people think that blackened teeth are horrible and frightening (she was told, in her time, that blackened teeth enhanced your sexual prowess, and no woman was to be seen in court without said blackened dentures). Times have changed. Times are changing.

She crosses her legs right one over left and idly surveys the shophouses opposite. The ramen stall where she is currently ensconced is a popular one situated right in the middle of the shopping district. She technically has only one more minute left of lunch break, but she has no more classes for the day and she cannot be bothered to return to school until she replenishes her nicotine intake, as close as school is. As her eyes pick up something decidedly out of the ordinary - a young man running out of a clothing outlet, arms full of technicolour shirts, followed by another, older, more composed - her ears confirm the presence of both.

The Arrancar that is not shoplifting turns, and looks straight at her. He leaves his companion to the raiding of other shops, and bows. There is a shared silent communication.

Eventually Tsukiko removes the cigarette holder from her mouth, and indicates the chair beside her with much langour, dripping ash onto it as she does so.

The Arrancar takes the seat, but not before fastidiously dusting the ash off of it.

"They say the tar from cigarettes blackens the lungs."

"They also say that caffeine, if ingested in suitable quantities, kills." Tsukiko speaks without moving her lips, quite a feat, especially with the cigarette holder clenched firmly between her teeth.

    "Touche."

    "Doing well, are you not?"

Gatomielo inclines his head in a polite nod. "Tolerably well, yes. And the same of you?"

"Mayhap. You have found a way to mask your reiatsu."

    "Affirmed."

"You do not worry for the fate of your, ah, colleague."

"I find that, despite appearances, he does not cause very much trouble at all. I expect that you would not tell me what you are doing in a gigai in the human realm, not even if I asked politely?"

    "Aaa."

"I do know what you have been teaching that boy, you realize."

"Of course you know what I have been teaching that boy. History. He is in my class and he is most unreceptive towards my dispensal of knowledge."

"He must be talented. I have a feeling that I will soon witness the current limits of his power. Along with the other humans."

"What do you hope to achieve...?" Tsukiko shakes her cigarette holder at Gatomielo's Hollow-holed palm, ash flying in all directions. "Worth that, was it really? In the old times, you said, nothing was ever worth that."

    "Times have changed."

Lobo stomps up to the conversing pair, growling and muttering expletives under his breath. Under his left arm there are two or three shirts, of incorrigibly loud colouring, all clashing with each other. The other hand is engaged in flipping the middle finger in the direction of some unlucky shop owner.

"-fucking stuck up assistant man... got something shoved way up his bleeding arse, he does... trying to take that shirt out of my hand - Ah, hello there Gato-san! Who's that lady you're talking to?"

"She teaches the humans we have to spy on," Gatomielo replies smoothly, not missing a beat. "I was making enquiries."

"Ooooh, hello miss! I was just doing a spot of shopping!" Lobo took Tsukiko's hand (the one that was not occupied by the cigarette holder) and shook it up and down most enthusiastically. "Look at what I got! A pretty pink hoodie with a pattern of bright orange flames and a lime-green sweater and a stripey red vest!"

    "Impeccable fashion sense," drawls Tsukiko.

"And now you will excuse us, madam," says Gatomielo, getting up from the chair. "We have pressing matters to attend to."

"If you are wondering, which I think you are, the tea shop that stocks matcha of high quality is down the next alley on the right."

"Thank you." Gatomielo bows again, and the two are gone.

Tsukiko settles back in her own seat. There will be a show in the near vicinity later on in the afternoon, if what Gatomielo implies is correct, and she would be loath to miss it.

    Yamashita, Kumiko
    .: Shinigami | F | Lt. of 13th Division :.

“Ah! Breathe in that delicious air! Feel the magnificent wind billow across the sky! Feel th-”
“Ano, Kamina-kun…” Kumiko began, raising a brow as her, Yuuzen and Arai looked on. They were ahead of Kamina, having already begun walking out of the park in which they appeared in. Kamina seemed confused at this, wondering perhaps how he had not noticed but pretended to not care.
“… we should get going. According to this…” Kumiko pulled out her cell phone, and upon the screen several dots had begun appearing. “… an oddly large number of Hollows have begun popping up. We should get to work quickly.”
The number of Hollows wasn’t so great that it worried the four Shinigami much- especially considering 3 of them were Lieutenants. However, little did they know that the number of Hollows was about to rapidly increase to the point where they wouldn’t be worried about being overpowered, but worried that they couldn’t get to the Hollows in time.
“The numbers are manageable. I suggest we split into teams of two.” Arai mentioned, and Kumiko nodded. Yuuzen furrowed his brow slightly, mirroring Kamina’s look slightly
“We can take them on ourselves!” Kamina said loudly, as Yuuzen nodded in slight agreement.
“Aren’t we being overly cautious here?”
“No.” Kumiko said, pointing to her phone. “Ukitake-sempai says that there are irregular readings as of late- things that don’t seem to be the work of a Hollow. If something like that pops up… we should work in teams. These Hollow aren’t so widespread that we need to split.”
With agreement, Kumiko motioned to Kamina. “Let’s go Kamina-kun.”
    “Haaiii…”

Kumiko’s eyes narrowed as she and Kamina darted through the town towards the nearest Hollow.
“Ne, I’ve never seen yah like that before Kumiko-chan.” Kamina spoke, not looking at her but concentrating ahead.
“Nani? I’m not sure what you mean…” Kumiko responded, looking slightly confused as Kamina smiled with his usually half-wry grin.
“Ah, nothing bad Kumiko-chan! You just have become more of a leader since last time we were together on a mission.” He gave her a thumb up. “It’s a good thing!!”
Kumiko chuckled slightly, grinning as she sped up.
“Ukitake-sempai’s absence has gotten to me!”
“Oi! Wait up!” Kamina commented, speeding up to catch up with her.

Soon, the two landed in the streets of Karakura town. Before them was a large Hollow- it’s lizard like body adorned with the familiar white bone outlining.
“HAHAHA!” Kamina yelled, charging straight at the Hollow. Kumiko outstretched a hand to call for him to wait, but thinking better of it she stopped. Instead she watched, monitoring the situation as Kamina easily cleaved the Hollow in half. Checking her phone, Kumiko noticed that there was nothing odd about the Hollow.
“ALL SHALL FALL BEFORE THE MIGHT OF MY BLADE!” Kamina yelled, posing for no one as he pointed his blade to the sky. “Kumiko, where is the next victim?!?” Kamina asked- or rather, yelled in a very question-like way.
“This way!” Kumiko called, leaping into the sky as Kamina followed. As they continued to leap and bound, her cell phone began buzzing and flashing brightly. At that very moment, a Hollow materialized right in front of them. Kumiko came to a jolting halt, as Kamina leapt into the air and landed on top of the Hollow’s head. With a wild grin upon his face, he gave a battle cry as he shoved the sword down into the Hollow’s head. Kumiko watched as the Hollow reared up, thrashing wildly so to cause Kamina to lose his balance. Seizing this distraction, Kumiko unsheathed her Zanpakuto and leapt into the air. Finishing the job that Kamina had started, she gave a short cry as she sliced the Hollow’s face in half. It cried out in anger but it was too late, and the Hollow dissipated.

Again, Kumiko’s cell phone buzzed and she took it out to look at it. Her eyes widened as she looked to Kamina.
“Kamina!” Kumiko called, to which Kamina came over to her and gazed at her phone. Dots rapidly began appearing everywhere in Kakakura town… a few of the dots being different colors.
“There are so many of them popping up… and it looks like they’re getting stronger too.”
Kamina’s face turned serious as he gave a nod. “We should split up if we don’t want any casualties.”
    Kumiko nodded, “Hai. Good luck.”
With that, Kamina and Kumiko separated ways.

    Tsuga Akaru
    .: Human | M : .

Akaru would have been lying to himself if he had said he was not disgruntled. He did not appreciate being talked down to by anyone, especially random odd-looking men who appeared on the top of school roofs. At the first appearance of the man, Akaru had taken a defense stance- usually strange men appearing around youth were not a good thing. However, the man just merely seemed to be high on his own horse as he spoke down towards everyone in a ridiculing manner. In fact, the only thing that didn’t bother Akaru as much was the cryptic message he had left them. It was odd to say the least, and Akaru couldn’t help but feel that it really wasn’t insane babble.

Eventually the rest of classes went by and with the final bell Akaru packed his things into his small leather case and left school. He had bid adieu to Hoshiko and started his long but usually peaceful walk back home. While he could have driven to school everyday or taken main roads, Akaru chose not to. He liked to walk through construction sites and sidewalks to his home- even though it was about a three hour walk.
As he walked however, Akaru couldn’t help but feel as if something was wrong- as if he should head back towards school. The eerie feeling was enough to make Akaru stop a few times and glance back, but finally he assumed it was nothing. After an hour into his walk however, Akaru felt as if something was watching him.
He was walking within a construction site and he could not shake the feeling that there was someone or something sizing him up. Trusting his fighting instincts, Akaru whirled about and faced the half-broken down building and narrowed his eyes.
“Show yourself.” Akaru demanded, standing strong but keeping his knees bent in case whoever was watching was harmful. At first, nothing happened… but then the ground shook beneath his feet and Akaru felt a strong prickling on the back of his neck.
Before him it seemed as if the building was rippling by some extreme heat- but the ground was sinking and the earth seemed to quiver. Feeling a sense of danger, Akaru braced himself as suddenly he felt the impact of some force nailing him in the gut.
Instantly Akaru was knocked off his feet and sent flying back several yards. He stopped however, when his body collided straight into the tire of a large construction vehicle. Agonizing pain shot through his back, but Akaru’s instincts kicked in. He was used to pain- in fact, the burning sensation in his back was nothing. Using the tire to help himself back to his feet, Akaru glanced up again and peered.
Then his eyes widened as his mouth gaped open in shock.

There before him was something Akaru couldn’t have possibly imagined. It was a huge monster with a strange white face. Its size was at least as big as three semi-trucks and it seemed to take the form of a scorpion of some sorts. The odd part was the creature seemed to only have holes for eyes… along with white bone that covered the top of its body.
“Ooooo… this one smells deliiicious…” The creature roared, causing Akaru for a second to disbelieve his ears. Akaru normally, well.. if he had been normal, would have frozen on the spot. However, monster or no monster, Akaru’s fighting instincts were the only thing that could have responded to such a situation. Fear was a useless thing- Akaru had learned that many years ago.
“I’m not your food.” Akaru stated flatly, clenching his fists.
“HAAA!! It talks back! Pathetic scum… you’ll make a good meal for me. I can feel the power you’ll give!!” With that, the scorpion-like monster lunged with one large claw snapping outwards. Akaru leapt into the air, dodging it just in time for the creature to dig deeply into the ground. Coming down, Akaru rested a hand on the ground before having to roll to the side to dodge another attack of its large tail. Yet, Akaru could not find a weakness on the creature as he attempted to dodge more of its strikes- the thing seemed impenetrable.
“I still have to try…” Akaru thought, looking around and seeing a metal pipe. He swiftly grabbed it and without thinking, started charging straight towards the beast. It seemed caught off guard slightly, but it chuckled soon after. Feeling a bit of rage well up within him, Akaru smashed the pipe on the underside of the creature. It gave a surprised yell and swiftly out lashed by swiping Akaru away.
Akaru was sent flying again and this time only the ground broke his fall, causing him to skid several feet.
Coughing up blood, Akaru slowly sat up and wiped it away.
“No use… I don’t have anything to beat it…” Akaru thought.
“Heheheh.. pathetic human, I’ll smash you like a bug!” The beast roared, and Akaru braced himself to be hit once again. He knew he couldn’t run away… running away from the creature would only cause it to attack more things. Across the street, Akaru knew was a park filled with little children not too far off. He couldn’t be sure that if he ran, the little kids wouldn’t be hurt next.

“Onii-san!!” A small young boy of no older than 12 cried out. His dark ruffled auburn hair was wet and clung to his face as desperation transformed his face. Two large figures carried him away as the boy cried, reaching his hand outwards as he was carried away.
“MASATO-KUN!” Akaru cried out, trying to fight his way out of the grips of the three guys who grabbed him. They slammed him against the brick wall but Akaru kept fighting. Swinging a fist he managed to break a nose and blood sprayed in the air.
“MAAASAATOO!!!” Akaru screamed, before suddenly receiving a strong punch to the abdomen, knocking the wind out of him.

Glancing across the street once more, Akaru narrowed his eyes. Rolling to the side, he dodged the blow of the creature.
“I won’t be squashed by the likes of you!” Akaru yelled, glaring as he charged at the scorpion-like monster.
As he charged, Akaru felt a rush of power surge through his entire body. But his eyes and his mind were too focused to notice the rippling waves of blue energy that was beginning to surround his body. Running straight at the monster, Akaru reeled back his fist in preparation to punch the creature as hard as he could muster. However, as he did so suddenly a small flash erupted from within the palm of his fist. There, instead of just having a fist now Akaru held the handle of a strange sword. It looked like one would expect a Katana to look like, except the hilt of the sword was completely black with a red ribbon wrapped about the main grip. The blade itself was as nimble as a Katana’s, but the blade itself was extremely long and it bent backwards in a slightly more curved fashion. That, and the blade was glowing with an intense red flame- as if it were on fire.
Akaru however had no time to think about how he had acquired such a weapon.
“TAKE THIS YOU BASTARD!” Akaru suddenly yelled, leaping into the air as he slashed the scorpion’s head, breaking open its mask and causing it to scream in demise.

    Iibo Lobo
    .: Arrancar |M | Espada #3 :.

Lobo yawned slightly as he pretended to be interested in the tea shop. Gatomielo seemed extremely interested however, so Lobo tolerated it. Poking at a few of the things he saw, he finally decided he should just wait. So, Lobo instead decided to change. Taking off his jacket he slipped on his favorite shirt that he had bought- the pink shirt with orange flowers and lime green stems. He then put his jacket on over the shirt and noticed a mirror in the corner. Quickly he walked over to it and began posing slightly, admiring his acquired shirt.
Finally Gatomielo had finished to the happiness of Lobo and the two of them promptly exited. Lobo had been curious about whom exactly Gato had been talking to and what about, but he didn’t bother with details. He trusted his friend to know what he was doing and thus went along with it.
As the two continued walking however, they stumbled across a group of High Schoolers walking by- or, as Lobo would say – the weirdo humans.
“They’re outfits are ridiculous!” Lobo proclaimed, crossing his arms as Gatomielo nodded in slight amusement.
“I believe they’re the ones we are supposed to be keeping an eye on.”
“Really? They seem boring to me. ‘Cept for the bleeding one.”
“Shall we test how interesting they are?”
“YES!” Lobo said happily, snapping his fingers along with Gato.
Instantly rifts in the sky and parts of the air began to form… and slowly Hollows began to crawl into the material plane. One in particular approached the group of humans.
“I prepared for this!” Lobo proclaimed, pulling a Ramune out from his pocket and opening it. He then took a large drink and seemed to grow considerably happier.

    Endriago

So much chaos and so quickly. Spiritual energy seemed to be rippling almost everywhere and the pressure was so tangible. There were more pieces on the board than he'd anticipated. One in particular he hadn't expected but that was an issue for another day. For today, he had but the simple task of nudging a few pieces into place. Four pieces he already set in motion, and now the next four.

Endriago sat peacefully, indian style, atop a glowing neon sign with one of it's lights extinguished. As Yamashita Kumiko ran past on the rooftop a short distance below an eerily familiar tune caught her ear. It was an old tune laced with warm sadness accentuated just so by the whistling of a talented musician.

"Two shepherds to tend the flock and yet I count them twice," Endriago sang to the melody of the tune he had been whistling as if the lyrics belonged to it.

Kumiko stopped abruptly, whirling about as her hair rippled with her movements. Her eyes immediately gazed up quizzically at Endriago. Something seemed out of place.

"You can see me? Who are you?" she asked sharply. Looking more closely Kumiko can't help but feel she had seen this strange man somewhere before. "Do I know you?"

"The shepherds are wise to tend to their flock but too eager to protect. Herd the flock too soon and your sheep will remain always sheep," Endriago replied in a calm mildly cheery tone.

Kumiko blinked for a second, using her relatively sharp mind to try to decode his riddles. "Tend to our flock? Sheep?" she repeated, furrowing her brow. "Humans." She suddenly thought... tilting her head to the side. "I ask you again, who are you?"

Endriago smiles warmly and stands, looking deep into Kumiko's eyes. This was a fun game they were able to play amid such important affairs. A dangerous one if he became much more forthcoming, however.

"Time brings all answers," Endriago coyly evades answering her question. "If the shepherds four herd their flock too soon, their sheep will remain always sheep. Too late, of course, and the sheep become lamb chops. Wait just long enough, however, and your sheep might bloom into mighty rams. It has been a most exquisite pleasure Miss Yamashita Kumiko."

Endriago bowed politely with elaborate gesture and courtesy. His smile was infectious and warm and yet mischievous. And then, as fast as Kumiko could blink Endriago seemed to sink into his own shadow and was gone as if he had never been there.

    Satto, Yuuzen: Vice-captain 11th division
WTF- That’s a lot of Hollows!

Having pulled Kamina back to reality, the four shinigami stood around Kumiko’s cell phone, examining the unusual amount of Hollows in the area. They eventually decided to split into teams of two and Yuuzen took off toward the nearest Hollow with his former comrade, now fellow vice-captain Arai.

It wasn’t long before they found a good sized hollow, taking the form of a large serpent with a white mask. It also wasn’t long before Arai dealt away with it and Yuuzen checked his cell phone for the location of the next hollow.

“Well, this can’t be healthy for the general populous.” Yuuzen muttered allowed as the two shinigami observed a large amount of Hollows, some of rather increased strength appearing all over Karakura town.

“We need to split up if we’re going to contain casualties.” Arai said as he began to jog north to where a rather tall and spindly looking Hollow was attacking. But just as he was about to leave the clearing another Hollow appeared directly in his path.

It gave quite an intimidating roar only to instantly receive a thick spiky blade in its face. Giving the chain his zanpakuto was attached to a slight tug, Kausuken returned to Yuuzen’s hand as he still observed intently his cell phone. “Good idea Arai-san, take the northern part of town, I will head to the eastern part. Given the direction Kumiko-san and Kamina-san left in, they should be able to handle the southern and western areas.

The two shinigami dashed off and Yuuzen (returning Kausuken to its sealed state) smiled slightly to himself as he heard a cry of “Byakurai!” and the roar of a dissipating Hollow, meaning Arai was well at work.

He landed on top of a large apartment complex which according to his cell phone contained three Hollows. After defeating the first two, another three appeared. Two more down, another three Hollows appeared. Even as Yuuzen looked around in mild amazement, more Hollows stepped into this realm from Hueco Mundo. “This could get overwhelming.” Yuuzen thought calmly to himself as he cleaved a smaller Hollow in half. “I need to step up my game.”

He appeared above a gigantic Hollow via shunpo, and after destroying it called out, “Soar! Kausuken!” Yuuzen then fell into a swarming mass of Hollows, each vying at the attempt to consume the tasty shinigami. He landed on the rooftop in a crouched position, stoop up, and retracted Kausuken. The area was now relieved of six or so minor hollows, but Yuuzen had gained a shallow cut on his cheek, and he hadn’t seemed to put a dent in the overall amount of Hollows in the town.

Glancing down at the blood flowing down his face as the sun began to set, Yuuzen said allowed, “We’re in for one hell of a night.”

Shusui caught a glimpse of the thing just as it let out one of the most eerie noises he had heard in his short life. The thing was all angles, it’s roughly humanoid form bending sharply at every joint. Even its head, looking to Shusui for all the world like an large white mask, was angular and pointed. As the youth watched, the thing’s mouth opened like a beak, revealing a second set of teeth deep within the blackness inside. Again the thing roared at them and Shusui felt himself taking an involuntary step backwards. He drew in a large breath, calling out to Hoshiko, “Hoshiko! Ru..”

Suddenly Shusui’s breath caught in his throat and a wracking cough shook his frame. His head began to pound so hard that he swore it would explode. As he fell to his knees, blood already dribbling from his mouth, his pain wracked eyes looked up at the monster, tears of agony reflecting brightly in the sun.

This is it...if this thing doesn’t kill me this attack is going to…

He could feel his heart pound in his chest, it’s beats becoming weaker and weaker. Distantly he could hear Hoshiko calling his name, worry for his condition mixed with fear of the creature who was now reaching out for the boy. Shusui hacked again, spewing blood on the ground in front of him. When he took his next breath, he suddenly realized he could no longer hear a heartbeat.

Finally…maybe it will stop hurting now…dying has always been more attractive than trying to survive.

Shusui’s head turned weakly to look at Hoshiko who was alternatively turning from him to the Hollow as if unsure what to do. Shusui to smile, tried to tell her to run away and leave him, that he was already dead but his brain seemed to no longer be in control of his body.

[i]It’s…not like I have anything to look forward to anyways. What is there in this world for me other than pity?[/a]

A soft voice found its way inside the fading youth’s mind.

Hai! You will have your own big business someday, and that calls for a bodyguard!

Shusui couldn’t believe it. Even after all the pain, after teetering on life and death so many times and never being able to find peace, after being shunned by his very family…he wanted to live. Images of his friends: Hoshiko trying to cook him a cure, Akaru’s casual yet sincere protection, Katashi’s blessed ignorance of his condition, and the few others that had accepted him floated through his mind. Their faces painted a message he could not deny despite what he may pretend to wish…he wanted to live.

    I want to live…I don’t want to die…

Shusui turned his faded vision back towards the creature, finding it to be barely a few feet away, it’s hand opened wide as it prepared to grasp at the boy. Its impassive mask nevertheless promised a fate worse than death. He wanted to live? He wanted to go through every day with the knowledge that he would never get better? He wanted to continue his wretched spiral into helplessness.

    I don’t want to die!

The finger’s of the hand were literally around Shusui, closing their iron grip on him. Then, unexpectedly, they stopped. All around the world suddenly fell silent, blowing papers settling flat against the ground, sand shifting slightly to a lower position, rooftop tiles creaking slightly. A tangible pressure pushed down on everything as though an invisible hand had settled around them. There was a noise like the sound of rushing blood, a soft feeling of movement against the skin, and for a second, everything stopped. Then with a sudden gasp, air flooded into Shusui’s lungs even as he screamed, “I WANT TO LIVE!”

His heart let out an enormous beat even as the air around him exploded outwards with powerful concussive force. The dirt of the ground was ripped up into the air as the force roared outwards, throwing the monster away from Shusui to land several yards away. With a sharp crack, the thing’s face shattered into pieces followed shortly by the rest of its body, the power of the force having been enough to rupture its mask. As quick as the power had erupted from Shusui, it calmed just as fast leaving the young man gasping for air, clear gasps rid of any rasping for the moment. A soft blue aura like the last vestiges of a flame flickered briefly around him before dying. Hoshiko, guarded by the blast somewhat by the hand that had separated her and Shusui, climbed to her feet unharmed.

    “Shu…sui-san?”

Shusui caught his breath for a few more seconds, tired yet suddenly refreshed. Even so, he could feel a lump growing in his lungs again, in a few more seconds breathing would not be so easy. In those few seconds he found his feet and turned to his companion.

“I…don’t know what just happened. But I think something inside of me fought back…”

Hoshiko gave an unsteady grin, “You are a fighter…”

Shusui prepared a response when suddenly the disturbing cry of the monster echoed all around them. The two looked around frantically for a moment, suddenly spotting a new pair at the end of the street, their emotionless yellow eyes fixed on them. Dropping his previous line of though, Shusui sputtered to Hoshiko, “How many are there?”

Hoshiko’s voice replied from his side, the volume of it indicating that she was facing the opposite way as Shusui, “There’s another this way too…”

Shusui gritted his teeth, coughing softly, “I want to live Hoshiko…so what in the world are we going to do…”

    Takiri Hoshiko
    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Mom's going to kill both of us when she sees this," Ken berated as he gave me an ice pack. I put it on my arm and then my eye, not knowing which bruise to tend to first. "All of this over a dog?"

"It was a cat, and they were going to kill it," I corrected. "They had no right in treating it so badly when it did nothing wrong."

"You were facing high school seniors, Hoshiko-kun. Guys my age. You know how hard I punch, right?" I nodded, my eyes drifting down. He lifted my chin and forced me to look into his eyes. "You know how to use your heart very well. But I need to teach you how to use your head."

"So I was foolish in doing that?" My voice was soft and fearful.

I looked into his blue eyes, just like mine but much brighter. Like looking into a sparkling ocean. He closed them and pulled away. "I should stop talking. Even after things like this, you seem to have more sense than me."

    "Onii-sama..." I started.

"You fought a lot better than you usually do," he commented as he looked in the fridge. "Do you know what that means?"

"That fighting with you has helped?"

He pulled out a couple of bottled sodas and handed one to me. "That you're meant to be a protector." He kissed my forehead softly, the touch of his lips lingering even after he withdrew. "Do you feel better now?"

"Hai, but I don't see how. I'm not bruised there...I think."

"Sometimes healing the heart is more important than healing the body. If you heal the heart, the body will surely get stronger." He held out his arm and pulled off his treasured bracelet. "One day I will leave this place, Hoshiko-kun. When I do, I want you to find someone to protect and heal." He extended my arm and slipped the bracelet on my wrist.

With the feeling of cool beads on my skin I felt something else, some kind of energy that emanated from him. So powerful yet so nurturing. I couldn't speak to this being that was too perfect to be my brother. I nodded again and felt my eyes water.

"I will protect you," I told Shusui-san as the three monsters slowly approached us. "You have a right to live..."

I narrowed as the monster that I was facing quickened his pace. Its body was hunched over but that didn't mean that it was going to be slow. "We have a right to eat, so hand over the little boy and yourself. You won't die in vain," it mocked.

I looked down at my bracelet, the face of Ken flashing in my mind's eye. A strange yet familiar energy pulsed from within, matching my heartbeat. The bracelet shone with a brilliant light. Shusui gaped at it then fell to his knees. "Hoshiko..." he gasped.

"YOU'RE MINE!" the monster cried as it rushed for us, not as fast as I thought but still fast enough to outrun us.

No time to think! I stood in front of Shusui with my arms outstretched with the intention of taking the hit for him. But the creature had no interest in me; it just stopped in front of me and swatted me aside like I was a gnat. I skidded and rolled to a stop to the far side of the street. That one hit damaged me so much but something compelled me to move my aching body.

The creature hovered over the barely conscious Shusui, its huge mouth open and ready to swallow him whole. My legs were shaking; I might not last longer if I took another hit like that. But if I didn't do something...

    "RAAAWR!"

    "AAAAH!"

My cry mixed with the monster's roar as I rushed for him. But I didn't expect to get to him so fast. One second it was like a mile was between and the next I could feel his cold body against mine. My high speed tackle knocked him on his side.

I landed next to Shusui, who was lying on his side. I felt weak yet, at the same time, the new energy seemed to take over. It would die down and then rise again. My arm lifted of its own accord and stretched out, the palm facing up. The bracelet shone again as the energy pooled in my open hand. It became visible and soon I was looking at a blue sphere.

The monster stood and spoke again. "I was going to eat the boy first but I think I'll get you out of the way before THAT HAPPENS!"

I didn't want to leave Shusui so I chucked the sphere at the monster even though I doubt it would do anything. The sphere hit it in the mask and exploded with enough force to send both of us flying. Somehow I wasn't damaged, but the monster's mask cracked and dissipated along with the rest of its body.

How did that happen? That thing I threw was like a bomb. The injury made itself known again and I crouched for a moment. The energy died down again, making the pain more significant.

The other two monsters grew impatient and advanced toward me. Two more that I didn't even sense before took the place of the first. I stood over Shusui and held out both hands. Two more bombs formed. "That hole in your chests...you're incomplete. But you're not going to fill those voids with us. YOU HEAR ME?"

The air rang with the roars of imcomplete creatures.

    +-+-+ Zukai Kazemi +-+-+
    +-+-+ 5th seat, 10th division +-+-+
“What do you want Yumichika-kun?” Zukai repeated once again.

The other shinigami, Yumichika Ayasegawa, 5th seat of the 11th division responded with a smile again.

“Got in a beautiful fight again?”

“Yes, of course. I’m amazed that you can see it Zukai-kun.” Yumichika almost squeaked

“Please, you always act strange when you just finished a fight.”

“Oh, but Zukai-kun, don’t you think that my skin looks so much better now. My face is sooo much smoother.”

Yep, he was definitely squeaking now.

“Anyway, I’ve got some training to do.” Zukai responded.

He stood up and placed his Zanpakutou back in his belt. He waved to Yumichika as he was walking.

“I’m sure I’ll see you again.”

“Alright, let’s fight next time! I’m sure your looks will improve then!” the strange shinigami yelled out before Zukai could disappear by means of shunpo.

    +-+-+-+-+

Zukai was again in the midst of the crop field not to far outside of sector 29 of West Rukongai, the area Zukai grew up in before becoming a shinigami.

“Hajikeru, Kumorigachi!” he yelled out as he pulled out his katana.

The wind seemed to gather around his sword and formed a second blade beneath the regular one.

    “Yosh!”

Zukai let out a low, horizontal slash and the air traveled along the blade. It grew in size and cleared the crop within a distance of five feet.

Still no improvement at all. Zukai though to himself

At first the distance was much shorter, but now he was stuck on five feet for a couple of years.

Again, but this time let’s try some more reiatsu.

A glow surrounded the blade and again Zukai preformed the slash. No difference at all as he was now standing in a circle with a five feet radius.

Zukai sighed and picked up the cut down plants. He walked up to a carriage and tossed them in.

“Arigato Zukai-kun” the elderly farmer exclaimed, “you are always a great help.”

“No problem, Ojiisan. I’m always glad to help out.”

As one of the few shinigami that was produced by West Rukongai 29, Zukai was pretty famous and the citizens respected him. In return, he helped if he was in the area.

Zukai occasionally returned for training and harvesting. West Rukongai 29 used to be a pretty tough area, but the occasional visits of a 5th seated officer seemed to lower the crime rate. In all likelihood, this area was one of the most peaceful, competing with the first areas of North, East, South and West.

Suddenly a small girl came running.

    “Ojiisan, Ojiisan! Aniki was taken.”

    The farmer gasped.

“What is going on?” Zukai asked

“A month after your last visit, people started disappearing. Some say they heard a strange buzzing sound followed by a scream whenever some one went missing. Some of the youth investigated and found out about a week ago that a hollow had settled into the nearby quarry.” the elder man explained.

“Lately the attacks had died down and it was a long time since the last disappearance, so we thought the hollow had moved on. But it seems it returned. Please Zukai-kun, you have got to help us.”

“Foolish Ojiisan. Of course I’ll help. It’s a shinigamis job, isn’t it.”

Zukai placed the last of the crops on the carriage and shimmered away. In a short time, he was at the quarry. Looking over the rubble, he heard a buzzing sound coming out of the air holes.

“So you are here. Let’s make you come out, shall we?”

With a dying roar, the Hollow's mask split down the middle before it toppled over disappating into reishi particles. His Zanpakuto leaning against his shoulder Kamina smirked as he pointed at the three Hollows left. "Well then, who's next? Don't be shy, I'll even let you all come at me at once!"

The trio did not hesistate already in mid-leap eager to feed upon the Shinigami. Kamina could only smirk as his form seemed to blur and disappear from sight. They crashed into the spot where the Shinigami once stood and looked about in a confused manner. Appearing behind them, Kamina sheathed his blade as one by one the Hollows' masks cracked before breaking enitrely. Smirking as they disappeared, the blue-haired Shinigami brought a hand up to the communicator in his ear. "Kamina here, I've cleared the Hollows from this area. Where to nex-" He stopped as a felt a strange spiritual pressure.

Looking to the west, he concentrated on the unfamiliar pressure. They seemed to be neither Shinigami nor Hollow. In fact they seemed human. Kamina had never met a human with such a strong spiritual presence, not even from mikos or local priests. The pressure soon faded away only to be replaced new ones, slightly weaker but much more stable than the first. He could also hear the cries of Hollows emanating from their position. "Kamina, what was that you got cu-"

"Just finished with the Hollows here Kumiko-chan. There's a strange readin' comin' from the west so I'm going to check it out." Without waiting for his comrade's reply, the blue-haired Shinigami sprang away towards the source.

    *********************

The three students held their own admirably, but having only just awakened their powers and with no experience to fall back on, they were soon overwhelmed by the Hollow Horde. As the largest of the Hollows loomed before them to devour their living souls, a bright lance of light arced through the air to smash into its mask. It broke on impact, sending the Hollow reeling to crash among its smaller companions. Eyes turned upwards, both human and Hollow, as the source of the blast slammed a foot on to the edge of the roof. One of the Hollows glared at Kamina, hissing out a curse against the Shinigami.

"W-ho is that!?" One of the students exclaimed.

Kamina smirked as he pointed towards the heavens. "Who am I!? Open up your ears and listen closely! Beautiully walking that manly path, the man whose soul burns brighter than the sun!" Putting his sword sheath in hand, he slowly drew the blade. "Facing ever forward, never showing his back to the enemy!" He points the fully drawn blade at the Hollows, his smile growing. "WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM!? I am the Deeeeee-vine KAMINA-SAMA!"

Not waiting for the Hollows to recover from their shock at the Shinigami's grandstanding, Kamina vaulted towards with his blade poised like the stinger of a scorpion. He drove it right into the mask of one, splitting it open before leaping off and slashing wildly into the group. The Hollows instantly turned their attention from the hapless students as they concentrated on the tastier prize of the soul of a Shinigami.

But the skilled death god wasn't about to go quietly. His zanpakuto was like an extension of his will, dancing through the Hollows like an untamed tornado. While not as graceful or beautiful as that which would be done by many other Shinigami, there was a savage beauty to Kamina's sword work. As he dispatched the closest Hollow he turned towards the students who were watching the fight with rapt attention. "Now would be a good time for you to run!"

A shadow loomed over Kamina as he turned back to the Hollows, who had all leapt to attack the distracted Shinigami. The smirk never left the irrepressible swordsman as he drew his soul cutter towards his side. "PIERECE THE HEAVENS ~ GURREN-LAGANN!" Emerald light burst to life around the blade, swirling about the Shinigmai's arm. As the Hollows dogpiled the seemingly helpless Shinigami, there was an explosion of spiritual energy as Kamina rose into the air his hand encased within a massive drill.

Landing lightly on his feet, the drill shrank down to a more managble size. Masks broken and shattered by his blade's released, the Hollows disappated into the air. He raised one hand and gestured for what was left of the horde to come and get him.

Katashi sat on the stairs, looking out at the town below him. He climbed up here often, for indeed there were many a sight to see, many a thought to think, and many a…um…things to be done. At the moment for example, Katashi was busying himself counting the number of red cars going down a certain street. He had reached roughly seventy three when he suddenly looked up, so now he was staring at the sky, with a look of confusion on his face. Slowly he rose to his feet, still staring at the same cloud for some reason, and stood quietly for a second, the soft wind at this height unfolding his coat so it spread out as he stood. His suspicion in the cloud dissipating, Katashi tried to shake off what had suddenly roused him from his mind-numbing entertainment. There was something in the air, something that was itching at some inner part of him…

“That would be your training my inattentive little Nephew…”

Katashi’s eyes narrowed, was Abe-sensei speaking into his mind?

“Of course not, it’s your training taking my form in your fairytale mess of a mind…now pay attention to what’s around you.”

Snapping a little straighter at his inner-not-really-his-Aunt’s harsh words, Katashi drew up his inner spiritual awareness and took a look around. The world around him was suddenly filled with fluttering white ribbons, the traces of each person that were visible to the eyes of one trained enough. Blinking in surprise, Katashi gazed at three in particular that stood out, their crimson colors one’s that he had seen only briefly during his training…there were Shinigami in the human world. Katashi fumbled through his mind for a second, dredging up the information that Abe-sensei had pounded into his brain, sometimes literally, during the last several years of his life.

    Shinigami…

There were Shinigami in the real world…and when Shinigami came to the real world that meant…

Katashi turned as he heard the noises behind him, his eyes widening at he gazed upon his first Hollow. It looked like a hideously transformed bodybuilder, it’s twisted limbs made all the more hideous by the large, vein filled muscles that hung on them. The mask was like a muzzle, it’s bottom half jutting out to form a flat faced extension to the face. It’s eyes were fixed on Katashi, it’s mouth opened in a trembling roar. Katashi felt sweat stand out on his forehead, Abe-sensei’s descriptions had been vivid, had made him feel a thrill in his stomach at meeting such a fantastical creature, but to see one in person was simply horrific…horrific and terrifying to his very core.

“They hunt those with strong spiritual energy, if they ever arrived here they would inevitably come to you…”

The thing moved awkwardly towards him, its steps uneven on the too small stairway as it slowly crept down to the student. Katashi’s instincts cried at him to act, to bring his powers to the surface, to destroy this abomination…but he couldn’t.

I’ve never fought anything for real before! What if he…what if I? There’s too many things that could happen, there’s too many things that I’m not ready for!

Now taking a stumbling step back as the Hollow grew closer, its roars sounding more and more hungry as it did, Katashi’s fumbled mind tried to grasp onto his training, tried to summon some sort of strategy. He closed his eyes, trying to block out the image of the Hollow and…just think!

“I had always assumed that you might have taken interest it at least one of the subjects I had been trying to teach you…”

If that was his inner self talking, Katashi realized, he might actually have as active of an imagination as his school counselor had once told him…he could even smell the cigarette smoke.

    I…this is real Abe-sensei!

“Of course it is real Nephew, I would not have taught it to you were it not applicable in a real life situation. Now what seems to be the problem.”

    It’s trying to kill me!

“Well then I suggest you at least attempt to kill it back, or have you forgotten that you are capable of doing that?

    Kill it…back?

“You do remember the purpose for your powers do you not? The very reason I taught them to you in the first place? You came to me, you asked me, I do not waste my valuable time on hopeless causes. You know what to do and how to do it.”

    Yes…

    “Then Go”

    Go.

Katashi’s eyes opened as the thing reached the outer limits of its range. One overmuscled arm took a wide overhead swing at the standing youth. Katashi turned his eyes to gaze at the arm as it came at him, studying it.

    Speed…angle…….now.

Reaching out and finding spirit particles hovering around him, Katashi grasped them with his power and drew them to his feet, instantly driving them to the right, up, and back to the left. A soft swish was lost in the sound of the Hollow’s arm slamming into the stairs, throwing stones and debris everywhere and rocking the immediate area with the sound of the blow. Katashi stood calmly in place, his Hirenkyaku having moved him away from the blow, to his new perch atop the Hollow’s now motionless arm. His arm came up, the long-gloved hand clenched in a fist. Glaring down his arm, he spoke in an unnerving monotone.

“Three centimeters to the right, poorly aimed.”

The Hollow roared and ripped its arm from the ground, attempting to throw Katashi off of it. The young man rode the arm for a second and then leapt from it, twisting in the air to land lightly behind the Hollow and raising his arm once again.

“Minimal spiritual power, minimal intelligence, insignificant threat…nonetheless you should not exist.”

Katashi waited until the Hollow turned its head to face him before he brought his bow to life, its pieces assembling from the ports in his glove. Bringing his other arm up, he drew the bow, funneling spirit particles into the motion and weaving them into a rippling spiritual arrow. Releasing his grip on the arrow, Katashi launched the lance of power into the middle of the Hollow’s face, cracking the mask down the middle and causing the hollow to evaporate even as it fell lifelessly down the stairs. The passing of the arrow summoned up a momentary wind that sent dust scittering into the air to float around Katashi’s flapping coat.

    “And now you do not…”

Katashi stood for a moment, allowing the updraft caused by the arrow to calm, before releasing his bow. Flexing the fingers of his left hand, Katashi looked around at the fluttering ribbons once again. Taking a step towards one of the lightly dancing crimson ribbons, Katashi suddenly paused and shot his gaze into the forest. A moment of silence passed as Katashi’s gaze found that of the one looking at him. The two stood still, sizing each other up, measuring each other’s strength. Suddenly however, Katashi shook himself from his position, it would have to wait, there was something far more important afoot at the moment. Grasping the crimson trail in his hand, Katashi broke out into a run towards where it led him, the roars of Hollows becoming louder and louder as he did. He must have called them to him by using his powers…marvelous!

For it’s part, the bird that Katashi had spotted rested momentarily on its perch, looking for anything edible on the ground beneath it. Finding nothing, it spread its wings and fluttered off over the city.

Shuusuke Arai - Fifth Division - Lieutenant

    -

The hiss of crackling lightning danced forward in a wild arc, lancing into a masked creature that roared in pain as the projectile connected. Before the Hollow could barely recover, Arai was in midair, Kariahyaku tearing through the exposed scalp of the demonic creature. As the blade split the moaning beast's skull, its bulky form dissipated into minuscule particles of reishi. The eradication of their brethren angered three other Hollows lurking in the shadows, and they sprung at Arai as he plummeted toward the earth.

With a grin he blended into jet black and crimson streaks, reappearing moments later, his assailants frozen in motion, with traces of static coursing through their forms.

    Release now, Karai!

And suddenly they were freed into motion once more, only to be torn apart as a lithe form danced along their enormous limbs, his blade moving in wild, elegant arcs as he eradicated his attackers. As he landed on the sidewalk, momentarily winded, only to hear a bestial roar as a winged form swooped towards the resting Shinigami. His Zanpakutoh retreating into Sealed Form as Arai let out a bellow, his free palm thrusting forward as a bolt of frosty white sparks burst from his hand, biting into the winged attacker, encasing the Hollow in a shell of crackling energy.

As the attack receded, the Hollow fell to the ground, charred, fragments of his frame dancing into the air in the form of reishi.

'Right, looks like we're just about done in this area.'

    Mm.

    'Any minute now and --'

Arai paused in his confident strides, his body stiffening as his grip tightened on Karai.

'That's one hell of a reiatsu.'

    Incredible. This power is immense.

    '
We need to get there, fast...'

Another shriek as a hollow raced through the air, a burly arm drawn back, prepared to strike the unaware Shinigami.

As the closed limb neared Arai, he whirled about, a deathly look in his eye as his blade whistled forward in retaliation, cleaving through the Hollow's extended arm, leaving the severed fist to fall to the ground. Retracting its arm, the beast roared out in pain, his chest thrust outward as he thrashed wildly. Undaunted, Arai's sword connected with the bony mask of the Hollow, cracking it slightly before he danced behind the moaning creature. A final slash split the skull in two, and the demonic denizen whistled into the air to join its brethren.

Again he felt the pull of an immense reiatsu, overwhelmed by the magnitude of the possessor.

Tonight will be an interesting one.

Arai glanced at the gleaming moon, his face lined with sweat as Hollows began to congregate around his tired form once more.

"I'll cut my way through any number of you!" Arai roared defiantly, his sword contorting into Karaihyaku once more.

Arai, this reiatsu...it feels like...it's slowly weakening...As if...

    'In danger...'

Arai's face hardened as the Hollows drew closer, his sword thrust forward in defiance.

"Come at me, then." He grinned.

As the Hollows complied, his sword was cloaked in shimmering lightning as he rushed forward.

And as he swung his blade, the night was illuminated by a crackling blue.

    Stop trembling
    Open your eyes
Release your own time! Shootin’ star going towards the future!
    Draw the arch of light
You’ll reach it, if you keep believing
When the voice that calls for you
    Bursts open in your heart
    Everything will start, Believer!

    +-+-+ Zukai Kazemi +-+-+
    +-+-+ 5th seat, 10th division +-+-+

Zukai looked over the barren land. The quarry was abandoned as most of it’s resources were already collected. A buzzing noise seemed to travel around the area. The main entrance to the underground mine was still open and several air holes were spread around.

Zukai walked over to one of these holes. The buzzing noise did seem to come from underground. Zukai thought about his next course of action. Going into the mine would be foolish, without knowledge about his foes abilities he would walk into a lions den. Also, the underground mine had been abandoned and the lightning was most likely malfunctioning after that time.

The shinigami crouched down and picked up several rocks. He dropped them in the hole and lots of clattering noise was made as they bounced of the walls.

“Tasty fresh soul, right above your! Tasty, tasty, tasty! Come and get it!” Zukai yelled down the hole.

The buzzing noise picked up in speed and volume.

“Guess it worked.” Zukai told himself.

He focused his attention to the main entrance of the mine. What came out if it was a hollow, as suspected. It’s body barely fit the shaft and it crawled out slowly. When it came into full light, it was clear that the monster had taken the shape of a wasp. Wings, six feet with three fingers, a stinger and the mask was shaped as wasps head.

The creature let out a screech before lifting of in flight. It started to hover above Zukai.

“Indeed a tasty snack, this time my children will be born.” the hollow exclaimed.

Although it was hard to hear, the voice once belonged to a female. The transformation had affected it in a crude manner.

“You. You were likely a mother that died at childbirth. You seek to bring a new child to life to nourish. Sadly, you are hurting innocent people. I can’t let that happen.” Zukai casually informed.

“You might be right, but I don’t care. A meal shouldn’t talk to much.” the hollow screeched.

It started flapping its wings faster and faster. Zukai had already drawn his Zanpakutou, but couldn’t move. The world in front of him was shaking. No, it wasn’t the world that was shaking, it was Zukai himself.

“What? What’s going on?” Zukai muttered

“How do you like the tone of my Sonic Wings? Devastating isn’t it?” the hollow informed.

“Now do me a favor and make my children come to live!” it screeched as it stormed towards Zukai, stinger aimed at his heart.

Zukai barely managed to raise his soul cutter and blocked the attack.

“Ugh, you’ve put me in a vile situation, but if you think a fifth seated officer is taken care of so easily, you are mistaken.”

Zukai made a small jump and slashed one of the legs, the cut was undeep and not sufficient to separate it.

“You say that, but you are in no position to fight back.” the hollow yelled as it lined itself up again.

“Now have a taste of my Sonic Stinger.”

The wasp like hollow made a dive and its stinger was moving at a dazzling speed. But the sound had stopped. Zukai managed to block each of the attacks and made a jump backwards.

He landed and sheeted his sword.

“It seems you can’t keep up your Sonic Wings when you use your Sonic Stinger. To bad for you, you would probably would have taken me down if it wasn’t for that. To bad it’s over now.”

The hollow had a surprised look as suddenly its masked shattered. The body disintegrated and vanished.

“May you rest in peace, unfaithful mother.” Zukai muttered.

Using a bit of Kidou, Zukai lightened the underground path. He had reached the resting place of the defeated hollow. A massive amount of eggs was stashed in one of the hallways.

    “Unbelievable.”

Zukai picked one of the eggs up and felt movement inside. Using the kidou technique in his hand, he enlightened to ball.

Inside was a creature that clearly was a wasp. Zukai tossed the egg with the others. If these hatched, then Rukongai would be in danger. The shinigami dispelled the light in his hand.

“Ye Lord! Mask of flesh and bone, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, Upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws. Hadou 33: Blue Fire, Crash Down.”

A blue ball shot forth from Zukais palm and hit the eggs. They immediately caught fire and slight screams could be heard from the insides. The fetuses called for their mother.

Zukai scanned around the cave with the help of the fire he just created but couldn’t find the boy. It saddened him that he was to late.

He walked out of the mine, reported in to the village and build a small grave before leaving West Rukongai for a couple of months again.

And that's the end of my little Zukai Saga. Hope you guys return to Soul Society quickly. It's boring all by myself.

    Masahito Kiyoshi || M || Bount

    "Ko-kun, did you..."

He stopped for a while, thinking if he should ask her about this. Being part Bount gave you certain advantages, a certain spiritual sensitivity, and he had seen a similar trait displayed by both Hoshiko and her brother since their youth. She looked up at him in a questioning manner, clearly waiting for him to continue but he decided not to alarm her for the time being. "Never mind, I'll tell you later."

She threw him a quick glance before leaving with Shusui-kun. Kiyoshi watched them go, weighing his options. On one hand, he had club activities today, or he would have walked them home. On the other, he wasn't sure if he felt comfortable letting them leave like this. He walked down the hallways, down some stairs towards the dojo within the school where the kendo club practiced, and changed out of his school uniform quickly. As he started warming up, the uneasiness continued to permeate his mind insidiously causing him to lose focus.

"Calida, what do you think?" he asked her silently, lowering his shinai and running a hand through his already messy hair.

I feel a great presence of evil in the air today, much greater than normal.

"We're not the only ones to feel that way," he muttered out loud, heaving a sigh. A few of his kouhai around him threw him some odd glances, but he ignored them.

You are worried that those two will come to harm?

"Their spirit powers are raw but strong. Any Hollows would be delighted to devour them."

You won’t drop it unless you follow them and you’ve made up your mind already. Hurry up and follow them and stop nattering to me here.

    "Thank you, Calida."

He stopped to hang the dojo's shinai up. Because today was only a practice session anyway, he had not bothered to put on any of the armour, just his dark blue hakama. Grabbing his bag, he ran out of the school, following the path that he knew Hoshiko and Shusui would take.

His heart sank as he heard loud roars, and Calida confirmed his fears.

"Hollows!" she spoke up, and he knew she was excited at the prospect of battle.

As he ran, he yelled "Zeige Dich!", not even stopping for breath. Calida cried out in exultation as he felt some heat on his left ear, and a flash of light before she appeared in her full glory, now the size of a large Alsatian thanks to the strength of his emotions.

He found himself at the front of a long alley, and four hulking Hollows surrounding two very familiar figures. Shusui was on the ground, but to Kiyoshi's relief, still visibly breathing. Hoshiko looked injured and she was bleeding in quite a few places, but she was holding two glowing spheres in her hands.

"That hole in your chests...you're incomplete. But you're not going to fill those voids with us. YOU HEAR ME?"

The Hollows roared and charged. Without hesitation, Hoshiko threw two of her spirit bombs, while with a high screech, Calida attacked. Kiyoshi didn't stop to think, he just ran through the two Hollows that separated him from them.

"Kiyoshi-kun!" Hoshiko gasped, while Calida engaged the other two Hollows in battle. She fell to her knees, her eyes dilated. Kiyoshi only nodded at her, before he knelt down, picking up Shusui gently, cradling his head with his large hands.

"What are you-" and she stopped, blinking as Kiyoshi's hands glowed red, the energy flowing into Shusui. He hadn't been badly hurt, only stunned, and Kiyoshi turned his attention towards Calida. He touched her shoulder with an outstretched hand, and her eyes widened even further as he healed her.

    "How-"

"KIYOSHI! More are coming!" Calida's physical voice surprised both of them. Shusui was waking up, and still leaning against Kiyoshi, he struggled to sit up. Calida circled around them wildly, slightly large now, and so near that he could feel the breeze created from their wings.

Kiyoshi turned his head to look around as more Hollows emerged, counting underneath his breath.

"@#$%!" Hoshiko yelled, surprising Kiyoshi, who had never heard her swear before. Two of her spirit bombs glowed in her hands again.

"I'm not sure how long I can hold them off," Calida told him, before swooping in a larger circle, beating off the Hollows with her wings and talons.

Kiyoshi stood up, supporting Shusui who was still a little weak, despite his healing. He was filled with a frustration that he had never known prior to this. Never before had he cursed his inability to battle. He felt like a sitting duck as Calida destroyed another Hollow, only to have another demonic manifestation take its place.

    Hunger...
    We're hungry...

    Power...
    So much...Power...

    Bount.

    Bount bount bount.

The whispers went through the ranks of the Hollows.

Haven't eaten Bount in a long time.

    Too long.

    We're hungry.

The other humans have power too.

    Delicious.
    Power.
    More Power.
    We will feast.

The ranks pressed in despite Calida's efforts, despite Hoshiko's desperate bombs, despite Shusui's raw blasts of spiritual energy when he gathered the strength - and behind them stood Kiyoshi, who towered over both of them, feeling useless that he could do nothing to help. Despair set in, despair that he was totally powerless, and they were doomed to ignoble deaths here, engulfed by empty spirits.

The situation was desperate but nothing came to mind. So much for the brain functioning better under pressing circumstances.

KIYOSHI. THERE ARE TWO HUMAN SPIRITS! CONSUME- Her thoughts came to him, and he recoiled instantly.

"NEVER!" he roared back silently at Calida, enraged that she had even chosen to suggest such a thing.

IT'S THE ONLY WAY WE'LL SURVIVE!

"THEN I'D RATHER DIE!" he bellowed, even as she faltered, her head starting to droop with fatigue.

"Kiyoshi-kun, are you alright?" Ko-kun managed to ask, muttering out of the side of her mouth, even as she was throwing her bombs with a fierce determination. The hollows were less than five feet away now. Even as they dissipated from the attacks, more and more Hollows appeared. The spiritual energies of this place was going crazy.

Suddenly, there was an additional surge that Kiyoshi had only felt once before in his life, and that was just a distant memory. Without warning, a bright spear of light tore through the mask of the nearest Hollow, who collapsed with a hideous shriek before disappearing.

"W-ho is that!?" Shusui asked, as all three of them stared up at the lone figure on a rooftop nearby.

“"Who am I!? Open up your ears and listen closely! Beautiully walking that manly path, the man whose soul burns brighter than the sun! Facing ever forward, never showing his back to the enemy!" He smirked rather cockily and ended his rather flamboyant introductory speech with “WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM!? I am the Deeeeee-vine KAMINA-SAMA !"
